In this research, a novel method using magnetic mixed hemimicelles dispersive solid-phase extraction (MMHDSPE) based on C16mimBr-coated attapulgite/polyaniline-polypyrrole/Fe3O4 (ATP/PANI-PPY/Fe3O4) nanocomposites were investigated for enrichment and separation of three acaricides in fruit juice. In this method, we combined the simplicity and speed of dispersive solid-phase extraction, the advantages of mixed hemimicelles and the facility of the phase separation of the magnetic nanoparticles to develop a simple, rapid, sensitive, and effective method for detecting target analytes from the juice samples. ATP/PANI-PPY/Fe3O4 nanocomposites were successfully synthesized using a one-pot method. The as-prepared nanocomposite sorbents were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectra (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The experimental factors affecting the extraction efficiency including the sorbent type, amount of ATP/PANI-PPY/Fe3O4 nanocomposites, volume of ILs, sonication time, pH, and desorption conditions were optimized. Under the optimal conditions, good linearity was observed for all target analytes, with correlation coefficients (r2) ranging from 0.9994 to 0.9999; the limits of detection (LOD) were in the range of 0.16-0.57μgL-1, and the recoveries of analytes using the proposed method ranged between 88.67% and 95.10%. The sorbents exhibited excellent repeatability in the range of 1.83-4.24% in extracting the three target analytes. In addition, the intra-day and inter-day precision values were found to be in the range of 0.19-6.24% and 2.23-8.36%, respectively. The method was successfully applied to analyze fruit juice samples by rapid preconcentration of acaricides.

A novel dispersion liquid-liquid microextraction method based on the solidification of sedimentary ionic liquids (SSIL-DLLME), in which an in situ metathesis reaction forms an ionic liquid (IL) extraction phase, was developed to determine four pyrethroid insecticides (i.e., permethrin, cyhalothrin, fenpropathrin, and transfluthrin) in water followed by separation using high-performance liquid chromatography. In the developed method, in situ DLLME was used to enhance the extraction efficiency and yield. After centrifugation, the extraction solvent, tributyldodecylphosphonium hexafluorophosphate ([P44412][PF6]), was easily collected by solidification in the bottom of the tube. The effects of various experimental parameters, the quantity of tributyldodecylphosphonium bromide ([P44412]Br), the molar ratio of [P44412]Br to potassium hexafluorophosphate (KPF6), the ionic strength, the temperature of the sample solution, and the centrifugation time, were optimized using a Plackett-Burman design to identify the significant factors that affected the extraction efficiency. These significant factors were then optimized using a central composite design. Under the optimized conditions, the recoveries of the four pyrethroid insecticides at four spiked levels ranged from 87.1% to 101.7%, with relative standard deviations (RSDs) ranging from 0.1% to 5.5%. At concentration levels between 1 and 500 µg/L, good linearity was obtained, with coefficients of determination greater than 0.9995. The limits of detection (LODs) for the four pyrethroid insecticides were in the range of 0.71-1.54 µg/L. The developed method was then successfully used for the determination of pyrethroid insecticides in environmental samples.

A novel in-syringe dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction based on the solidification of ionic liquids (in-syringe SIL-DLLME) was coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detector (HPLC-UVD) to detect five benzoylurea insecticides (BUs) in water and tea beverage samples. In this method, the hydrophobic ionic liquid [N8881][PF6] was formed in situ by the metathesis reaction between [N8881]Cl and the anion-exchange reagent KPF6 to extract the target analytes. The whole extraction procedure was performed in a syringe. The solidified extractant could be separated from the aqueous phase by exposing the emulsified extraction solution to an ice bath and then easily collected by squeezing out the aqueous phase through the prepared NWPP-based needle. Various parameters affecting the extraction efficiency, such as the amount of [N8881]Cl, the molar ratio of [N8881]Cl to KPF6, salt addition, cooling time, solution temperature, sample pH and sample volume, were evaluated. Under the optimized conditions, the proposed method was validated with satisfactory results: good linearities with coefficients of determination greater than 0.99 were obtained in the range of 2-500µgL-1; the limits of detection varied between 0.29 and 0.59µgL-1; the recoveries of the five benzoylurea insecticides ranged from 85.93% to 90.52%; and the intra-day (n=3) and inter-day (n=3) relative standard deviations were less than 5.36%. Finally, the proposed method was successfully used for the determination of BUs in real water and tea beverage samples.

In this research, an effervescence-assisted β-cyclodextrin/attapulgite composite (β-CD/ATP) for the in-syringe dispersive solid-phase extraction (EAIS-DSPE) of pyrethroids in environmental samples was developed for the first time. A syringe was used to conduct the extraction procedure and a small amount of β-CD/ATP was dispersed into the solution with the release of carbon dioxide when the effervescent tablet components dissolved in water. Then, the sorbent was recovered using a filter membrane, and the analytes were directly eluted using acetonitrile. In the process, the β-CD/ATP sorbent resulted in an excellent extraction efficiency compared to commercially available sorbents such as C 18 and HLB. Moreover, in the extraction procedure, both the β-cyclodextrin inclusion interactions (especially the hydrophobic effects) and the special structure of the ATP contributed to the efficient enrichment of pyrethroids in aqueous media. The amount of β-CD/ATP sorbent, the volume of desorption, the ratio of NaH 2 PO 4 /Na 2 CO 3 , the volume of the sample, and the pH were screened using a Plackett–Burman design. All factors affecting the procedure were optimized by applying a central composite design. Under the optimized conditions, a good repeatability (RSDs) ranging from 1.7 to 2.3, linearity (2.5–500 μg L −1 ), limits of detection (LODs) (0.15–1.03 μg L −1 ), and an acceptable recoveries (76.8–86.5%) were achieved. Finally, the proposed method was successfully applied for the determination of pyrethroids in environmental samples including river water, reservoir water and lake water.

A novel, totally organic solvent-free emulsification microextraction (TEME) technique using ionic liquids (ILs) is proposed in this study. Seven bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ionic liquids were synthesized. After comparing the physicochemical properties of the ionic liquids and their application to microextraction experiments, 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([C6MIM][NTf2]), which has moderate surface tension and viscosity, was selected as the extraction solvent. The dispersion of ILs and mass transfer were accelerated by ultrasound irradiation and temperature control processes. Therefore, no dispersive organic solvent was needed. Several variables, such as ionic liquid volume, duration of the ultrasound extraction, dispersion temperature, ionic strength and centrifugation time were investigated and optimized. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration curve was linear in the range of 0.1-600 μg L(-1) for chlorfenapyr and fenpyroximate and 0.5-600 μg L(-1) for spirodiclofen, with correlation coefficients of 0.9994-0.9999. The enrichment factors were between 261 and 285. The limits of detection (LODs) were 0.02-0.06 μg L(-1). Real fruit juice samples (at fortified levels of 10 μg L(-1) and 30 μg L(-1)) were successfully analyzed using the proposed method. The relative recoveries and enrichment factors were in the range of 92-104%.

A novel and facile microextraction technique, termed as ionic liquid-linked dual magnetic microextraction (IL-DMME), was developed for the determination of pyrethroids in honey samples. The distinct advantage of the proposed method is that high recoveries can be readily achieved through the combination of dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) and dispersive microsolid-phase extraction (D-μ-SPE) with the aid of synthetic ionic liquid and non-modified magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), respectively. In the first DLLME step, [C6MIM]NTf2 was used to extract the pyrethroids without the addition of any toxic dispersive solvent. In the following D-μ-SPE steps, non-modified MNPs were added to retrieve the ionic liquid. The effect of different variables on the extraction efficiency was studied simultaneously using the response surface methodology. The Plackett-Burman design was first employed to screen for the variables that significantly affected the extraction efficiency. Central composite design (CCD) was then introduced to optimize the significant factors using a polynomial fit. The optimal experimental conditions obtained from this statistical evaluation included: ionic liquid volume, 75 μL; S-BaFe quantity, 60 mg; sonication time, 4 min; vortex time, 100 s; desorption time, 150 s; and no addition of salt. Under the optimal conditions, good linearity in the range of 0.5 μg L(-1)-500 μg L(-1), repeatability (RSD 1.1-3.8%), low LODs (0.03-0.05 μg L(-1)) and good recovery (86.7-98.2%) were obtained. Finally, the developed method was evaluated for the extraction and determination of four pyrethroids in real honey samples.

A novel microextraction technique, named in-situ metathesis reaction, combined with ultrasound-assisted ionic liquid dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction was developed for the determination of five phenylurea pesticides (i.e., diuron, diflubenzuron, teflubenzuron, flufenoxuron, and chlorfluazuron) in environmental water samples. In the developed method, 360 μL LiNTf 2 aqueous solution (0.162 g/mL) was added to the sample solution containing a small amount of [C 6 MIM]Cl (0.034 g) to form a water-immiscible ionic liquid, [C 6 MIM]NTf 2 , as extraction solution. The mixed solutions were placed in an ultrasonic water bath at 150 W for 4 min and centrifuged at 3500 rpm for 10 min to achieve phase separation. After centrifugation, fine droplets of the extractant phase settled to the bottom of the centrifuge tube and were directly injected into the high-performance liquid chromatography system for analysis. The quantity of [C 6 MIM]Cl, the molar ratio of [C 6 MIM]Cl and LiNTf 2 , ionic strength, ultrasound time, and centrifugation time, were optimized using a Plackett–Burman design. Significant factors obtained were optimized by employing a central composite design. The optimized technique provides good repeatability (RSD 2.4 to 3.5%), linearity (0.5 μg/L to 500 μg/L), low LODs (0.06 μg/L to 0.08 μg/L) and great enrichment factor (244 to 268). The developed method can be applied in routine analysis for the determining of phenylurea pesticides in environmental samples.
