Abstract

A series of pentafluorosulfanyl-substituted acrylic esters and amides have been synthesized in moderate to good yields from 3-pentafluorosulfanyl-prop-2-enol employing a chromic oxidation and subsequent coupling reaction. New pentafluorosulfanyl-substituted allylsilanes were also obtained from a SF5-Cl addition on allylsilanes followed by a β-elimination reaction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Magnesium in methanol was found to be an effective and inexpensive reagent for the dehalogenation of (hetero)aryl chlorides, bromides and iodides under mild conditions.
