In modern electronic warfare, RADAR is under constant threat of ECM(Electronic Counter Measures) signals from nearby jammers. The conventional linear frequency modulated(Linear-FM) waveform is easy to be intercepted to estimate its signal parameters due to its periodical phase transition. Recently, APCN(Advanced Pulse Compression Noise) waveform using random amplitude and phase transition was proposed for LPI(Low probability of Intercept). But random phase code signals such as APCN waveform tend to be sensitive to Doppler frequency shift and result in performance degradation during moving target detection. In this paper, random phase and code rate transition based radar waveform(RPCR) is proposed for Doppler tolerance improvement. Time frequency analysis is carried out through ambiguity analysis to validate the improved Doppler tolerance of RPCR waveform. As a means to measure the vulnerability of the proposed RPCR waveform against LPI, WHT(Wigner-Hough Transform) is adopted to analyze and estimate signal parameters for ECCM(Electronic Counter Counter Measures) application.Key words: Radar Waveform, Jamming, LPI(Low Probability of Intercept), ECCM(Electronic Counter Counter Measures)

A comprehensive SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) simulation is considered to be a complicated task since a full knowledge of the signal propagation characteristics, antenna pattern, system internal errors and interference noises should be taken into account. In high resolution target application modes, the time varying nature of target RCS(Radar Cross Section) strongly affects the generated SAR images. In this paper, in-depth SAR simulations are performed and analyzed incorporating the STK tools and MATLAB software. STK provides realistic orbit parameters while its radar module helps to extract accurate radiometric parameters of ground targets. SAR raw data corresponding to a given target is generated and processed using MATLAB simulator. The performance is measured by PSLR(Peak Sidelobe Ratio) and ISLR(Integrated Sidelobe Ratio) for a point target, which can be used as reference parameters for accurate radiometric calibration. Finally, high resolution target simulations are performed by adopting time varying target RCS characteristics.

SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) systems can provide images of wide coverage in day, night, and all-weather conditions. However wideband SAR systems are known to be vulnerable to interferences from other devices operating at in-band or adjacent spectrums and this may lead to image corruptions. In this paper, a SAR point target simulator is developed that provides performance analysis on image distortion caused by interferences from other devices. Interference signals are generated based on the experimental data observed from acquired SAR raw data. Simulation results include typical SAR performance measures such as spatial resolution, peak to sidelobe ratio and integrated sidelobe ratio. Finally, SAR target simulations are performed and shown to correspond to the image corruptions found in real SAR missions affected by RF interferences.

In this paper, SIW-based uniform array antenna with a sequentially fed 8-way power divider with an equal division characteristic is proposed for an application of X-band satellite communication. In particular, sequential feeding structures with a progressive phase difference of 90 degrees between the nearest elements have been suggested to protect the cancellation of electric fields due to the array alignments and to enhance the purity of RHCP(Right-Handed Circular Polarization). The obtained results according to the return loss bandwidth, RHCP antenna gain, axial ratio bandwidth are 760 MHz ranging from 7.90 to 8.66 GHz under the criterion of less than -10 dB, 14.3 dBic at 8.3 GHz, and 600 MHz from 8.15 to 8.75 GHz, respectively. In addition, it is observed that the equal-division characteristic of SIW-based 8-way power divider is approximately -9.2 dB in all ports.

In this paper, we study a TT&C link to obtain a required specifications of TT&C(Telemetry Tracking and Command system) antenna for an LEO(Low Earth Orbit) satellite. The premised mission orbit is the sun-synchronized and circular orbit and it performs earth-space observations. We design minimum TT&C link-budget to obtain required antenna beamwidth and gain. The proposed turnstile antenna provides wide beamwidth and circular polarization. We suggested the attaching position that shows the most effective results by confirming the variation of antenna performance when the proposed antenna is adapted to satellite`s various positions. Also we proved the proposed antenna`s ability while it is performing the mission through the orbit simulation based on the electrical performance of the proposed turnstile antenna.

Helix antennas have been widely applied to satellite TT&C, data communication and GPS receiver systems onboard military, remote sensing and communication purpose satellites. The helix antennas are known to be convenient to control impedance and radiation coverage characteristics with a maximum directivity in satellite z-axis. Waveguide horn is commonly used for radar system that needs ultra-wideband pulse for exploration ground radar and electromagnetic disability measurement etc. It has high efficiency and low reflection characteristics provided by the low-profile shape and suppressed radiation distortion. In this paper, a waveguide horn structure incorporated with helix antenna design is proposed for satellite applications that require ultra-wideband pulse radar and high rate RF data communication link to ground station over wide coverage area. The main design concern is to synthesize variable beam forming pattern based on modified horn-helix combination helicone structure such that multi-mission antenna is implemented applicable for TT&C, earth observation, high data rate transmission. Waveguide horn helps to reduce the overall antenna structure size by introduction fold type reflector connected to the tapered helix antenna. The next generation KOMPSAT satellite currently under development requires high-performance precision attitude control system. We present an initial design of a hybrid hern-helix antenna structure suitable for efficient RF communication module design of multi-purpose satellite systems.
