Objective: To asses if Topical probiotics and steroids can accelerate the process of angiogenesis in wound repair. Study Design: Longitudinal Experimental study. Setting: Al-Tibri Medical College. Period: Jan 2020 to Dec 2020. Material & Methods: Total 72 male albino rats were acquired from the animal house of the institution, and 18 as a requirement of per day of sampling included 6 animals/gp. An equal size incision of (2x2cm2) was made in all the animals. Group A was given Topical Normal Saline (Control Group), Group B was given the Probiotic (Lactobacillus Acidophilus), and Group C was given Topical Steroid (Dexamethasone). Samples from the wound created surgically was obtained on the 3rd, 7th, 14th, and 21st Day and slides were created to observe the number of blood vessels formed and angiogenesis under a light microscope. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 21.0. To compare the mean between the groups, the ANOVA was applied along with post hoc Tukey's test. The level of significance was considered P≤0.05. Results: The mean number of blood vessels formed in Group A (Control Group) was 2.75, 4, 5.25, and 5.50, in Group B (Probiotics Group) was 10, 13.50, 2.25, and 1, and in Group C (Steroid Group) was 3.75, 5.50, 3, and 2.25 on the 3rd, 7th, 14th, and 21st Day respectively. Significant difference was seen in the mean number of blood vessels formed when the Probiotic group was compared to Group A and C. Conclusion: Topical Probiotic accelerates the process of angiogenesis in wound repair due to their anti-inflammatory response.

Objective: To determine the parents influence on career choice of undergraduates. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Setting: Private Medical Colleges. Period: October 2021 to December 2021. Material & Methods: A sample size of 440 was taken. The inclusion criteria included medical undergraduate students and who gave consent. Non-probability convenient sampling technique was used. A questionnaire titled “PSESUCCQ (Parents Socio-Economic Status and Undergraduates Career Choice Questionnaire” was used. The data was analysed using IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25. Frequencies and percentages were calculated. Chi-square test of significance was applied. P-value less than .05 was considered as statistically significant. Results: Most of the participants age group was above 21 years, were females, their parents’ education was graduation and above and their parents monthly earning was above 1 lac Rs per month. The most common parents’ influencers on career choice of students were parents’ agree with students’ career choice because it will give them greater reputation and recognition in the society; parents resources motivate their career choice and their consultation before choosing career path for them. Conclusion: Parents’ education and socio-economic status has influence on the career choice of medical graduates.

Objective: To assess the gross parameters of maternal weight and abdominal circumference upon utilization of high fat diet. Study Design: Experimental study. Setting: Al-Tibri Medical College and Hospital. Period: October 2019 to March 2020. Material & Methods: After taken an ethical approval total 16 female albino rats were selected and divided into two groups through randomized sampling and 2 male rats were introduced in each group for the purpose of mating, group A given a normal diet (control) and group B given a composition of high fat diet throughout the gestational period. The weights of the pregnant rats and the abdominal circumference were measured on day 1st and 21st of gestation. Objectives: Of all work settings, hospitals carry the greatest risk of workplace violence, with 73% of doctors suffering the abuse. The scenario in Pakistan is also not so bright. This increase in incidences of workplace violence is affecting significantly on work efficiency of doctors۔Thus this study was undertaken to know the exact prevalence of such incidences in teaching hospitals of Faisalabad city. Study Design: Community based cross-sectional study. Setting: Three government teaching hospitals of Faisalabad. Period: From January 2019 to February 2019. Material & Methods: All the doctors who were willing to be included in the study were interviewed to know their experiences about episodes of workplace violence (WPV) during last 12 months and about the post-violence effect on work efficiency. Results: The prevalence of workplace violence in the last 12 months was found to be 73%, whereas 97% of participants who experienced violence said that it had an impact on their work efficiency significantly. Workplace violence and post-violence effect on work efficiency were seen to be significantly more associated with younger doctors. Conclusions: Workplace violence is emerging as a bane to the medical profession and has to be dealt with urgently.

Objectives: To determine the frequency of the major precipitating factorsamong the patients presenting with acute heart failure. Study Design: Cross sectional study.Setting: Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology, Faisalabad. Period: July 2014 to January 2015.Materials and Methods: 190 patients of acute heart failure were included after obtaininginformed consent from emergency department. Patients from age of 25 years to 80 years andof either sex either diabetic or non-diabetic were enrolled in study. ECG and CXR were takenin emergency with baseline investigations. Precipitating cause was identified from collectedhistory, clinical examination and ECG, CXR and lab results. Results: Mean age of these patientswere 54.4 + 8.92, 100 (52.6%) were male, 90 (47.4%) were females, 88 patients (46.3%) werediabetic, 102 patients (53.68%) were non-diabetic and 124 (65.3%) had previous history of heartfailure and 66 (34.7%) had no past history of heart failure. ACS was the common precipitatingfactor of Acute Heart Failure ( 31.57% ) among all the patients of the study with non-complianceof drugs 27.9% , arrhythmias 17.9% uncontrolled hypertension 17.36% and infections 5.3%.Conclusion: Young, male, diabetics and patients with history of chronic HF suffered more fromAHF. ACS was the most common precipitating factor while in patients with de novo Acute HeartFailure; it was ACS and non-compliance with drugs.

Objective: The objective of the study was to measure the frequency of impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) in patients havingchronic hepatitis C at medical outpatient department (OPD) of Allied hospital Faisalabad. Sample technique: Non probability consecutivesampling. Duration of study: Duration of study was 6 months with first patient enrolled on 3.02.2010 and last patient enrolled on 07-08-2010. Setting: Medical (OPD) Outpatient Department of Allied Hospital, Faisalabad. Subjects: 375 patients with chronic hepatitis C,coming in Medical OPD of Allied hospital Faisalabad were enrolled. Methods: 375 patients diagnosed as having chronic hepatitis Ccoming in Medical OPD of Allied hospital Faisalabad, were included in the study. Fasting and two hours after glucose load blood samplewere collected in sterilized syringes and was tested for fasting blood glucose (FBS) and random blood glucose level (RBS). Results: Inthis study 375 patients having HCV positive on Elisa were enrolled. Out of 375 patients with chronic hepatitis C, 143 (38.1%) were foundto have IGT while 232 (61.9%) were having no IGT. There was significant association between chronic hepatitis C and development of IGT.Conclusions: It is concluded that there is close association in the development of IGT in patients with chronic hepatitis C.
