It is disconcerting to think just how relatively fragile and uncertain our lives are, affected as they are by so many competing external influences. The relative vulnerability and fragility of the international money markets to attack whether intentional or not and the significant impact that can have on us all what concerns Captain J Welch in this article. He considers the various technological safeguards which are already in place and some that could usefully be developed—interestingly noting the potential role of the military in policing the economy—thus raising many important aspects as a their future role. In future could they be rounding out, peace on the economic market as well as on the more traditional battle‐fields of war?
