Traditionally, Rayleigh scattering has not been considered in the electromagnetic radiation transport calculation. Although the importance of taking this effect into account has been recently shown, not only over the angular magnitudes but also over the scalar ones (absorbed doses, angle-integrated flux), its highly anisotropic cross section makes totally impracticable the use of SN codes, because of aLegendre expansion of the cross-section of such high degree is required to obtain an adequate cross-section developmentIn this paper, we propose an alternative Boltzmann-Fokker-Planck method, as opposed to the usually employed Boltzmann method, which can be succesfully implemented in standard SN codes without modifying them.
