Abstract

The article reports on the status of U.S. diplomatic efforts to reverse the decision of Sudan to expel 13 aid organizations from Darfur, as international aid workers left the region ahead of a deadline in March 2009. Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir told a rally in North Darfur that he would kick out peacekeepers, diplomats and aid groups if they intervened with the International Criminal Court's (ICC) case against him. Among the aid groups affected by the expulsion are Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children and the International Rescue Committee.
