We also provided a complete list of Chinese Steganina species together with their geographical distributions. In addition, the majority of currently available DNA barcode (partial sequence of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene) sequences of this subgenus (435 sequences of 102 spp.) were employed in a molecular analysis for species delimitation. Taken together, morphology- and molecular-based species delimitation results reached a consensus for an overwhelming majority of these Steganina species (98 of 102 spp.).

The mainland Chinese fauna of the leaf beetle genus Adiscus Gistel, 1857 is revised and three new species described: Adiscus daofuensis Duan & Zhou, new species from Sichuan, Gansu and Henan, A. ningshanensis Duan & Zhou, new species from Shaanxi, and A. tanae Duan & Zhou, new species from Tibet. One species is newly recorded from China: A. pubiventris Medvedev, 2008. The mainland Chinese fauna of Adiscus is 35 species, almost all of which are redescribed. Color illustrations and line drawings are provided and a key to all 35 Chinese mainland species. Types of the new species are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The paper reports three new species of the genus Rabigus Mulsant & Rey from China, namely, Rabigus cuspus Fei & Zhou, sp. nov. from Sichuan, Rabigus sagittus Fei & Zhou, sp. nov. from Shanxi, Rabigus triquetrus Fei & Zhou, sp. nov. from Beijing and Shanxi. For all species included we provide color plates of general morphology and detailed aedeagus structures.

Holotype depository was not indicated for the new species, Stenus (Hypostenus) primivenatus and Stenus (Hypostenus) yiae, described as new in the publication Zhao & Zhou (2008). Missing this important message made these two species-group names unavailable according to the fourth edition of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (the Code, ICZN, 1999: Article 16.4). This problem was first denoted by Schülke, M. & Smetana, A. (2015).

The Anotylus nitidifrons group (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Oxytelinae) is studied and five new species are described from China: Anotylus sculptifrons Wang & Zhou, sp. nov. (Hubei, Yunnan), A. corrugifrons Wang & Zhou, sp. nov. (Guangxi), A. applanatifrons Wang & Zhou, sp. nov. (Zhejiang), A. declivisculptilis Wang & Zhou, sp. nov. (Guangxi), A. scabrifrons Wang & Zhou, sp. nov. (Sichuan). The taxonomic history of Anotylus nitidifrons group is briefly reviewed and another Chinese species is redescribed. Color plates and line-drawing are provided for all new species and other two species known from China. A key to the Chinese species of Anotylus nitidifrons group is included in the paper.

This paper reports one new genus, Cyanocypus gen. nov. and one new species, Cyanocypus leukos sp. nov. from Yunnan, China. A comparison between the new genus and other related genera is provided and the diagnostic characters are illustrated.

International audience; Three Graphium species belonging to two species groups of the subgenus Pazala, the alebion and tamerlanus groups,were examined in molecular and morphological studies, and their female genitalia are reported for the first time. Theirrelationship with other species groups within the subgenus is assessed and their divergence times are estimated. We findthat G. (P.) alebion is the first lineage to diverge within Pazala in the early Miocene (20 Ma) and that G. (P.) tamerlanusand G. (P.) parus are sister species and diverged from each other in the late Miocene (7 Ma). A revision of the fourrecognised taxa belonging to three species is presented, and historical misidentification of these taxa and their geographicranges are explained.

This paper treats the S. cephalotes group and S. indubius group (Coleoptera: Steninae) from China and includes description of one new species: Stenus wujiei Lv, Zhao & Zhou, sp. nov. from Hubei, China. S. detestabilis Puthz and S. hui Tang & Puthz are newly recorded to Hubei Province. Their diagnostic characters are illustrated.

This is a taxonomic study on the genus Stenus Latreille (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae) from China and includes descriptions of three new species: Stenu s renjiafenicus Lv et Zhou, sp. nov., from Yunnan, Stenus longchishanicus Lv et Zhou, sp. nov., from Sichuan, and Stenus napoensis Lv et Zhou, sp. nov., from Guangxi, with illustrations and photos of the taxonomic characters. A latest key to all Chinese species of Stenus tenuimargo group is modified to include the new species. The following 4 Stenus species, S. feae Fauvel, 1895, S. claritarsis Puthz, 1971 S. malickyi Puthz, 2008, and S. iustus Puthz, 1976 are newly recorded to China and are redescribed, with illustrations and photos of the taxonomic characters.

This paper treats the Stenus tenuimargo group (Coleoptera: Steninae) from China and includes descriptions of two new species: Stenus nabanhensis Lv et Zhou, sp. nov., from Yunnan Province and Stenus zhangyejunianus Lv et Zhou, sp. nov., from Sichuan Province. Their diagnostic characters are illustrated and a key to all Chinese species of the group is provided.

Five new species of the rove beetle genus Miobdelus Sharp, 1889 are described from South China: Miobdelus wolongensis He and Zhou, sp. nov., Miobdelus wangi He and Zhou, sp. nov., Miobdelus chrysanthemoides He and Zhou, sp. nov., Miobdelus chrysochromatus He and Zhou, sp. nov. and Miobdelus baoxingensis He and Zhou, sp. nov. Eight new species of the subgenus Pseudocypus MulsantRey, 1876 of the genus Ocypus Leach, 1819 (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Staphylinini) are described from China: O. (Pseudocypus) pileaticulminis sp. nov., O. (Pseudocypus) denticulminis sp. nov., O. (Pseudocypus) anguliculminis sp. nov., O. (Pseudocypus) digiticulminis sp. nov., O. This paper studies the taxonomy of the genus Xanthophius Motschulsky, 1860 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Staphylininae, Xantholinini). Two new species are described from China: Xanthophius unicidentatus sp. n. from Yunnan, Zhejiang, Guangxi and Hainan, and X. gutianshanensis sp. n. from Zhejiang. The number of species of Xanthophius therefore increased to eight. The elaborate structures of the everted endophallus of X. filum (Kraatz, 1859) is described for the first time and illustrated with a color plate. A key to eight species and their geographical distribution map are provided. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IZ-CAS).

This study is focused on the Chinese fauna of the leaf beetle genus Chlamisus Rafinesque, 1815 (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) and three new species are described, namely C. corollinotatus sp. nov. from Guangxi, and C. lycocephalus sp. nov. and C. varipennatus sp. nov. from Yunnan. The number of the Chinese Chlamisus is thus increased to 66. Twenty-five species are redescribed with the emphasis mainly on the genital morphological characters that are observed and reported for the first time for most species of the genus from China. Color plates and line drawings of general habitus and other detailed structures are also provided. Chinese fauna of the genus is keyed to species. Type specimens of the new species and other materials included in this study are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing.

Three new species of subgenus Euleptarthrus Jakobson, 1908 of the genus Priochirus Sharp, 1887 are described from China: P. ( E. ) trifurcus Wu & Zhou sp. nov. from Xizang, P . ( E. ) deltodontus Wu & Zhou sp. nov. from Yunnan and P . ( E. ) curtidentatus Wu & Zhou sp. nov. from Xizang and Yunnan. Diagnoses are also given for two species previously described from China, P . ( E. ) chinensis Bernhauer, 1933 and P . ( E. ) subbrevicornis Bernhauer, 1934. An updated version of the key to all Chinese species of the subgenus Euleptarthrus is provided. Important morphological characters are illus-trated.

This paper studies the taxonomy of the genus Diochus Erichson, 1839 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Staphylininae, Diochini) from China. Four new species are described: Diochus bicornutus sp. nov. from Fujian, Hainan, Zhejiang, Guangxi and Yunnan, D. ampullaceus sp. nov. from Guangxi, D. bisegmentatus sp. nov. from Hainan and Yunnan, and D. membranaceus sp. nov. from Fujian. All other species previously reported from China are redescribed based on the examination of the holotypes, except the holotype of D. antennatus (Motschulsky, 1858), which was missing. Line drawings of the now missing holotype of D. antennatus (Motschulsky, 1858) are provided. A lectotype is designated for D. conicollis (Motschulsky, 1858). The Chinese fauna of the genus Diochus is now represented by eight species (four doubtfully recorded) and a key to all the Chinese species is provided. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IZ-CAS).

A new apterous genus (Sinocatops gen. nov.) with a single new species (S. ruzickai sp. nov.) of Cholevini, is described from Sichuan Province, China. It is compared in detail to allied Rybinskiella Reitter, 1906 with some selected but important morphological characters to show their differences presented in a table. Color plates are presented to illustrate important morphological characters of S. ruzickai sp. nov. and examined species of Rybinskiella. The taxonomic state of Rybinskiella is also briefly disscussed.

The taxonomy of the genus Medhiama Bordoni, 2002 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Staphylininae, Xantholinini) wasstudied in this paper, with the descriptions of three new species: Medhiama xiaolongmenensis sp. n. from Beijing andSichuan, M. liupanshanensis sp. n. from Ningxia and M. nigromagna sp. n. from Sichuan. The number of species of thegenus Medhiama therefore increased to 16. Five existing species are redescribed and/or their female diagnosticcharacteristics are also added. A key to 13 species is provided, not including the three which are known from singlefemales. The geographical distributions of the species are shown on maps. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IZ-CAS).

This paper reviews the tribe Paromalini Reitter (Coleoptera, Histeridae) of China. Five new species are described: Carcinops penatii Zhang & Zhou, n. sp. from Sichuan, Platylomalus inflexus Zhang & Zhou, n. sp. and Eulomalus rugosus Zhang & Zhou, n. sp. from Hainan, Paromalus acutangulus Zhang & Zhou, n. sp. from Yunnan, and Paromalus tibetanus Zhang & Zhou, n. sp. from Xizang. The genus Diplostix Bickhardt and nine species of this and other genera are recorded for the first time in China. They are Diplostix vicaria (Cooman, 1935), Pachylomalus deficiens Cooman, 1933, Platylomalus submetallicus (Lewis, 1892), Platylomalus tonkinensis (Cooman, 1937), Eulomalus amplipes Cooman, 1937, Eulomalus pupulus Cooman, 1937, Eulomalus seitzi Cooman, 1941, Eulomalus vermicipygus Cooman, 1937, Paromalus parallelepipedus (Herbst, 1792). According to our study, the Chinese fauna of the tribe Paromalini is now comprised of six genera and twenty-seven species. Keys to these genera and species are presented. The taxonomic position of Pachylomalus deficiens Cooman is discussed. All the type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

This paper studies the taxonomy of the genus Osorius Guérin-Méneville, 1829 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Osoriinae) and reports 10 new species and three new records from China: Osorius depressicapitatus sp. nov. (Yunnan and Xizang), O. guizhouensis sp. nov. (Guizhou), O. huangi sp. nov. (Hunan), O. limatidepressus sp. nov. (Sichuan), O. micromidas sp. nov. (Yunnan), O. minutoserratus sp. nov. (Yunnan), O. rectomarginatus sp. nov. (Yunnan, Guangxi, Hainan, Fujian, Guangdong and Xizang), O. striolatus sp. nov. (Hunan and Guangdong), O. trichinosis sp. nov. (Guizhou and Zhejiang), O. tuberocapitatus sp. nov. (Hubei), O. aspericeps Fauvel, 1905, new record of China (Yunnan, Sichuan, Xizang and Zhejiang), O. frontalis Fauvel, 1905, new record of China (Sichuan), and O. punctulatus Motschulsky, 1857, new record of China (Yunnan and Fujian). The number of the Chinese Osorius species is thus increased to 21 in total. The paper provides line drawings for 21 species and redescriptions for the species recorded for the first time in China. A key to Chinese species is also included.

Four new species of the subgenus Microsaurus Dejean, 1833 of the genus Quedius Stephens, 1829 are described based on specimens collected from China: Q. (Microsaurus) indigestus sp. nov., Q. (Microsaurus) purus sp. nov. and Q. (Microsaurus) rectus sp. nov. from Sichuan, and Q. (Microsaurus) medius sp. nov. from Hubei. The new species all belong to the Quedius mukuensis group, which is now increased to a total of 16 species. Line drawings and color illustrations of the adults, and the genitalia of the new species and some other ones are given. A key to all the species of this group is provided.

Nargus (Eunargus) celli sp. nov. (Coleoptera: Leiodidae: Cholevinae: Cholevini) is described from Guangxi autonomous region, China. Important morphological characters of examined species of Eunargus Perreau are illustrated by color plates or line drawings. A key to three known species of the subgenus Eunargus Perreau is compiled, and known distribution is mapped.

Oxytelus species are widespread over all continents except Antarctica. Southeast Asia is one of the biodiversity hotspots in the world. In this paper, we review the Oxytelus species currently known from Southeast Asia. Seven species are described as new to science: O. castaneus sp. nov. (Vietnam), O. finitimus sp. nov. (Laos), O. grandiculus sp. nov. (Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand), O. insulanus sp. nov. (Malaysia and Indonesia), O. lompobatangensis sp. nov. and O. poecilopterus sp. nov. (Indonesia), and O. sublividus sp. nov. (Vietnam and Laos). Seven new synonymies are proposed: O. ruptus Fauvel = O. sublucidus Cameron, O. lucens Bernhauer = O. malaisei Scheerpeltz, O. puncticeps Kraatz = O. (Anotylus) micantoides Scheerpeltz, O. subferrugineus Cameron = O. kedirianus Cameron, O. megaceros Fauvel = O. kalisi Bernhauer, O. subincisus Cameron = O. fruhstorferi Cameron, O. antennalis Fauvel = O. cheesmani Bernhauer. Lectotypes are designated for the following names: O. armiger Fauvel, O. bellicosus Fauvel, O. discalis Cameron, O. gigantulus Fauvel, O. ginyuenensis Bernhauer, O. javanus Cameron, O. kalisi Bernhauer, O. kedirianus Cameron, O. lucens Bernhauer, O. lucidulus Cameron, O. mandibularis Cameron, O. megaceros Fauvel, O. nilgiriensis Cameron, O. subferrugineus Cameron, O. subincisus Cameron, O. sublucidus Cameron, O. subsculptus Cameron, O. antennalis Fauvel (New Caledonia, New Guinea and Australia), O. cheesmani Bernhauer (New Hebrides), O. cheesmanianus Cameron (Papua New Guinea), O. hingstoni Cameron (India), and O. tibetanus Bernhauer (China). The species O. (Anotylus) transversipennis Scheerpeltz is transferred to the genus Anotylus. Other than the new species, nine previously known species are redescribed, a key to 30 species and line drawings or color photographs of 42 species are provided. Thus, a total of 30 species are recorded from Southeast Asia.

Four new species of the subgenus Raphirus Stephens, 1829 of the genus Quedius Stephens, 1829 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Staphylinini: Quediina) are described based on specimens collected from China: Q. (Raphirus) hubeiensis sp. nov. from Hubei, Q. (Raphirus) ningxiaensis sp. nov. from Ningxia, Q. (Raphirus) spissus sp. nov. from Sichuan, and Q. (Raphirus) tenuiculus sp. nov. from Fujian. The females of Q. (Raphirus) oros Smetana, 2011 and Q. (Raphirus) shunichii Smetana, 2010 are described for the first time. Q. (Raphirus) kuiro Smetana, 1988 is recorded for the first time from China. Line drawings and color illustrations of adults and genitalia of all these species and some other ones are provided.

Four new species of the genus Lobrathium MulsantRey, 1878 from the mainland China are described: L. quadrum sp. n. from Sichuan, L. rutilum sp. n. from Hubei, L. tortuosum sp. n. from Zhejiang and L. zonalis sp. n. from Sichuan. In addition, the paper reviews the history of the research on the Chinese fauna of the genus. Some important morphological characters are illustrated for the new species.

This paper studies the taxonomy of the genus Megalinus MulsantRey, 1877 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Xantholinini)and offers a comprehensive revision of the Chinese fauna. Seven new species are described: Megalinus ailaoshanensis ZhouZhou sp. nov. from Yunnan, M. hailuogouensis Bordoni sp. nov. from Sichuan, M. liupanshanensis ZhouZhou sp. nov. from Ningxia, M. ningxiaensis Bordoni sp. nov. from Ningxia, M. nonvaricosus ZhouZhou sp. nov.from Ningxia, M. solidus ZhouZhou sp. nov. from Hainan and Yunnan, and M. tangi Bordoni sp. nov. from Xizang. The taxonomic status of M. leishanensis (Bordoni, 2007) is reinstated and treated as a valid species here. The following new synonym is proposed: M. suffusus (Sharp, 1874) = L. flavoelytratus (Bordoni, 2007) syn. nov. Three species originally described in Chinese are redescribed here: M. cinnamomeus (Zheng, 1994), M. coracinus (Zheng, 1994) andM. zhenyuanensis (Zheng, 1994). Therefore the Chinese fauna of the genus Megalinus is now represented by a total of 33 species. A key to all Chinese species is provided.

Eight new species of the subgenus Microsaurus Dejean, 1833 of the genus Quedius Stephens, 1829 are described based on specimens collected in China, namely Q. aculeatus sp. nov., Q. acutulus sp. nov., Q. altus sp. nov., Q. capillus sp. nov., Q. perlucidus sp. nov., Q. postangulus sp. nov., Q. subwrasei sp. nov. from Sichuan and Q. arcus sp. nov. from Ningxia. The female of Q. songpanoides Smetana, 2009 is described for the first time. These new species belong to the Quedius euryalus group and the fauna of this species group is thus increased to 53 species. In addition, this paper reviews the taxonomic history of the Quedius euryalus group and reports the sexual dimorphism in the hind wing length, i.e. male with longer hind wings in many species of the Quedius euryalus group. Line drawings and color illustrations of adults and genitalia of the new species and some other ones are provided, along with a key to all the known species of the euryalus group.

The subgenus Velleius Leach, 1819 of the genus Quedius Stephens, 1829 is a small and very distinctive group in the subtribe Quediina (Staphylinidae: Staphylininae) with pectinate antennal segments and larvae living in nests of Vespa species. This paper reviews the taxonomy of all Velleius species and analyzes the phylogeny of this group. Two new species, Quedius (Velleius) sagittalis sp. nov. from Shaanxi, China and Q. (V.) rectilatus sp. nov. from Guangdong, China, are described. Q. (V.) simillimus (Fairmaire,1891) syn. nov. is proposed as a new synonym of Q. (V.) pectinatus (Sharp, 1874). Phylogenetic result shows that all nine Velleius species can be divided into two clades and both have strong tree supports of Bremer/Bootstrap/Jackknife values.

Seven new species of the genus Bolitogyrus Chevrolat, 1842 are described based on specimens collected in China, namely B. depressus sp. nov. from Guangdong, B. hainanensis sp. nov. and B. magnimaculosus sp. nov. from Hainan, B. metallicus sp. nov. from Hubei, and B. loculus sp. nov., B. profundus sp. nov. and B. uncus sp. nov. from Yunnan. The number of Bolitogyrus species is thus increased to 59. Line drawings and color illustrations of adults and genitalia of the new species and some others are given. A key to species known from China is provided, with the exception of B. fukienensis Scheerpeltz, 1974, which is only known from females. A geographical distribution map of all Chinese species is also compiled.

Three new species of the subgenus Distichalius Casey, 1915 of the genus Quedius Stephens, 1829 are described based on specimens collected in China: Q. (Distichalius) biprominulus sp. nov., Yunnan; Q. (Distichalius) fusus sp. nov., Beijing; and Q. (Distichalius) paululus sp. nov., Sichuan. The new species belong to the Quedius elpenor group and increase the number of species of this group to 10. Line drawings and color illustrations of adults and genitalia of the new species are given. A key to all species of this group is provided and their geographical distribution is mapped.
