Cultural negotiation is essential because the process always involves conflict and differences. Malay-Chinese is one of the minority groups in South Kalimantan. This study aims to find out how Malay-Chinese culture negotiates differences in the legal culture of inheritance distribution between Chinese customary law, Malay custom, and Islamic law. This research is empirical legal research conducted under an interdisciplinary umbrella. This type of research is field research or research, empirical law. In this study, the author uses a legal sociology approach or practical juridical approach, which is an approach that looks at the legal reality in society, and a legal anthropological approach. The research findings show that Malay-Chinese negotiates differences in Islamic values and religion by choosing or combining the two cultural values. The negotiation process is carried out by applying cultural values as they are ethnic and adapt to the cultural values of Malay Islam. This cultural negotiation process then builds a hybrid Malay-Chinese identity. Resistance, their hybridity is used to survive and to fight the dominant Malay Islamic cultural values.

ABSTRACT: On the literary scene, Algerian novels are increasingly asserting themselves through their value, and their aesthetic renewal. Thus, contemporary Algerian novel production preserves its ancestral heritage while renewing its scriptural forms. Our aim is to interrogate the manifestation of this contemporary aesthetic renewal, through Lynda Chouiten's novel 'Une Valse'. This article takes a critical look at the notion of generic hybridity, linguistic hybridization, and narrative polyphony. It seeks to highlight, through a structural and semiotic approach, the set of processes that have enabled the proliferation of genres, languages, and discourses in our corpus. The desert as a space is still fascinating people and stimulating the minds of those who nourish curiosity. Its landscape is the setting for cultural, religious, historical, artistic and phantasmagorical constructions and with its labyrinthine paths and surroundings, it offers an inexhaustible reservoir of perceptions for its inhabitants, researchers, visitors and admirers. Moreover, the image of the cultural other is stylized in this topographical environment. From a literary point of view, its location is a fertile ground for literary creativity and inspiration. This essay attempts to analyze the ambivalent side of the desert as a polyphonic and transcultural space for possible moments of enunciation, using the example of Karl May’s novel „Durch die Wüste“ (1892). The intention is also to examine the various facets of this space and its function as a plot and aesthetic-poetic topos of cultural Otherness in May’s poetry.

This paper deals with Meena Alexander (1951-2018), one of the most influential Indian English poets. It focuses on her poetry which explores the relationship between Indian culture and the British culture, as well as the bond between memory and present reality. In this paper, a study was undertaken to investigate Alexander's works that dramatize postcolonial tension and resistance in independent India. The many power dynamics that marginalize individuals in the postcolonial ear on the basis of class, culture, gender and religion are discussed. As a result, it is clear that colonial power abuse has vanished, only to be replaced by interior exploitation. This paper also deals with her diasporic experience and her perspectives on creating a home, both living and literary, as well as an independent identity of her own via her literary productions.

Thisstudy aims to investigate the ways in which Salman Rushdie, an English writer, supports a hybrid worldwhich differences and heterogeneity are not only tolerated, but eagerly celebrated as a means of cultural newness. In the 21st Century, instantaneous communication, global economics and increasing migration of people across continents have drastically destabilized old views on the formation of cultural identities. This study attempts to provehow Rushdie`s literary works strongly believe in mixing identitiesand cultures, rather than limiting identification to a single place or idea. The study focuses on the struggle for cultural identity or the different areas of cultural identity. To do this, the researcher particularly examines Rushdie`s novel. He also discusses the ways in which political and personal events have formed his attitudes. Rushdie`s novels are clearly dedicated to the idea that cultural blending will create a better and more peaceful world in the future

This article proposes a reflection on the emergence of a literary sensibility that questions Arab-Muslim identities in Islamophobic states. The work in question is "The Girl in the Tangerine Scarf" by Syrian American author Mohja Kahf. Kahf offers us a protagonist who questions her Arab-Muslim identity in a host country that is completely hostile to her religion; the United States of America. With remarkable caution not to fall into one of the dominant discourses, neo-colonialist and Islamist, the novelist invites us to follow the identity construction of her character and to measure the difficulties she faces in order to finally arrive at the conclusion that her Islamity is not opposed to her Americanness. - Cet article propose une réflexion sur l’émergence d’une sensibilité littéraire qui interroge les identités arabo-musulmanes dans des états islamophobes. L’œuvre en question est "The Girl in the Tangerine Scarf" de l’auteure syrienne américaine Mohja Kahf.

Sufism is an actualization of the doctrine of Tasawuf about purification of the soul towards God as a form of realization of the Prophet’s hadith on al-iḥsān. Sufism presents three forms of activity, namely the purification of the soul, Sufi behavior, and Sufi movements. Historically, Sufism has featured a distinctive and dialectical character. Classical Sufism features five characters, namely ascetic, practical, asceticism driven by fear of God, the concept of maḥabbah, and the concept of maḥabbah for ma‘rifah. Modern Sufism features four characters, namely presentation of sharī‘ah-based Sufism with no prominent social role any longer, adaptability to modern environments, expression of new political role as a pioneer of the modern nationalist movement, expression of Sufi militancy movement in the late colonial context. Contemporary Sufism presents nine characters, namely Sufism as a variant of transnationalism, the change in the relationship of authority and pattern of association in Sufism, the emphasis of Sufism as a mean of dedication, accommodative attitude towards the new regime, Sufism as the basis of civil society for political mobilization, the development of unique forms of local voluntary associations, the solution-based attitude of Sufism in political archetype, merging of Sufism with the spirit of Salafi and political activism, and the existence of relations of globalization, transnationalism, and hybridity.
