In the educational sciences a pedagogical case study generally means a specific case from educational theory or practice. The pedagogical case study has many varieties and extends to the methodological part of the educational processes. The proposed study examines a specific type of pedagogical case study - the didactic case study. The didactic case study is defined as a type of problem solving that is based on a real case, which should be close to the students' experience and enable them to express a wide range of academic, transversal, and personal competencies during its solution. The didactic case study can be defined as a teaching method, i.e., through it the teacher teaches, and the student learns. Mmethodological guidelines for the development of didactic case studies by teachers are presented. These include a description of the essential characteristics of a good case study, procedures, and steps for constructing a case study, guidelines for developing a system of criteria, and indicators for student evaluation of the case study solution. The teachers' needs for preparation for the development and application of didactic case studies in educational activities have been brought out. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
