The reasonable design of hole spacing for buried heat exchangers is the first issue to be solved when developing shallow geothermal energy in the Nanjing erosion and accumulation plain area. In order to obtain the hole spacing for design reference and ensure ground-source heat pump system to operate long and stably, based on the ground-source heat pump test project at No. 102 Shimenkan, Qinhuai District of Nanjing, the hole spacing of ground heat exchanger and time effect of 10-year operation with ground-source heat pump system have been studied with the temperature monitoring system and numerical simulation method, and the hole spacing of ground heat exchanger and the operation mode have been obtained. The results show that : (1) during the complete operation cycle of summer, post summer recovery, winter and post winter recovery working conditions of ground-source heat pump system, formation temperature undergoes periodic change of heating, cooling, slow cooling and basic recovery. (2) The economical and reasonable hole spacing of ground heat exchanger is 4.0 meters suitable for the erosion accumulation plain of Nanjing. (3) In order to eliminate the heat accumulation during the summer working condition and promote the service life of ground-source heat pump system, the operation mode of equal cooling time in the summer and heating time in the winter is suggested, and the post summer recovery working condition is extended as much as possible. This study can provide scientific basis for the design of buried pipes and shallow geothermal energy engineering research in the Nanjing area.

Radionuclide verification is one of the four monitoring technologies used in International Monitoring System of Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). The activity of radionuclides concerned by CTBT generally performs at the low-level. An anti-cosmic ray γ spectrometer system with a HPGe detector was developed by using a combination of active and passive shielding techniques in order to improve the detection sensitivity and reduce the affections of background. By adjusting the system with a delay time and testing anti-coincidence count loss correction, compared with the original γ spectrum, the integral background in the energy range of 15-2 700 keV is reduced by a factor of 8. The detection sensitivity is greatly improved by using the anti-coincidence method. For 140Ba, the minimum detectable activity (MDA) is 10 mBq by using the anti-cosmic ray γ spectrometer for 7 d measurement, which meets the technical requirements for certification of nuclide laboratory under the CTBT. It is not only of great significance for CTBT radionuclide verification, but also important for radiation environment monitoring.

Brain functional hypernetworks have been successfully utilized in the diagnosis of brain diseases.In the previous study,the different hyper-edge generation method was mainly used to improve the construction of the hyper-network,which ignored the influence of different nodes definitions on the brain functional hyper-network topology.Therefore,in light of this problem,it is proposed to construct a brain functional hyper-network based on parcellation of different scales,so as to analyze its impact on brain functional hyper-network topology and classification performance.Specifically,firstly,based on the anatomical automatic labeling atlas,the brain was segmented by the method of clustering algorithm and the random dynamic seed point;secondly,based on the average time series obtained under each node scale,the brain functional hyper-network was constructed by the LASSO method respectively;then multiple sets of local features (node degree,shortest path,clustering coefficient) were extracted,and non-parametric tests and correlation-based methods were used to select features with difference;finally,support vector machine was adopted to build classification model.The classification results show that as the size of nodes increases,the classification accuracy of the constructed brain functional hyper-network is higher.When the node scale is 1501,the classification accuracy can reach 95.45%.Meanwhile,the classification accuracy of multi-scale fusion is better than that of any scale,which indicate different node definitions will affect the topology of the brain functional hyper-network.In future research,besides focusing to the construction method of the hyper-edge,the choice of brain parcellation scheme needs more attention in hyper-network.Moreover,combining multi-scale features can supplement more classification information to enhance the classification performance of depression and normal control.In addition,regardless of the size of the node,the classification performance of multiple sets of local properties is better than that of a single type of properties,which illustrates multiple sets of local property can make up for the missing information of a type of single feature,thereby discovering more brain disease biological markers.While effectively representing the brain functional hyper-network,it is also necessary to quantify the brain functional hyper-network topology information from multiple angles,so that the ability to characterize differences between groups can be enhanced,and the ability to diagnose and predict brain diseases can be improved.

Gas hydrate is greatly developed in the Qiongdongnan Basin which is one of the key exploration targets in the South China Sea, but the geological study of gas hydrate is insufficient. With 3D seismic data interpretation, geochemical data analysis and a large number of investigations, a related research work of H zone in the Qiongdongnan Basin was carried out in this paper, with accumulation system as the main line and focused on migration and transportation system. According to the analysis of 48 sets of geochemical data, the hydrate decomposition gas in H zone has a methane carbon isotope value (δ13C1) of -48.2‰ and a higher content of ethane and propane (C2+=21%), indicating that the gas is mainly thermogenic, and some are mixed gas. Seismic interpretation showed that the Quaternary tectonic activity in H zone was weak, and the NNE-trending gas chimney structure group, polygonal fault-silt complex and submarine slump body constituted the main migrating system and high-quality reservoir in the study area. Based on the gas source characteristics and migrating system of natural gas hydrate in H zone, three accumulation types were proposed, including the gas chimney type hydrate rich in thermogenic gas, the polygonal fracture-silt composite hydrate rich in thermogenic gas, and the submarine slump hydrate rich in thermogenic gas and mixed genetic gas.

Earthquake emergency thematic map provides timely and necessary technical support for earthquake emergency work. In order to shorten the mapping time of earthquake emergency thematic map，reduce the technical difficulty of seismic thematic map mapping，and improve the efficiency of earthquake emergency work，Hainan Province is selected as the research area to study and apply the off-line automatic mapping of earthquake emergency thematic map. In this study，the traditional idea of using GIS professional software for mapping process is advanced，and a series of pre-stored map slice data are established. When used，it will be separated from GIS software environment and emergency basic database. In software development，these pre-stored slice data are used to splice the needed emergency thematic map geographic base map，which has achieved the realization and application of rapid batch mapping to provide reliable and effective support for earthquake emergency work in Hainan Province.

The Cambrian gypsum-salt rocks in the Tarim Basin are key geological elements to the pre-salt play typical marine evaporites, yet little attention has been paid to this set of evaporites. Based on a field survey, the latest 2D seismic interpretation and comprehensive analysis of sixteen exploratory wells, a study on the sedimentary characteristics of gypsum-salt rock was carried out in a progression of "point to line, and to plane", and a contour map of the Lower to Middle Cambrian cap rocks, gypsum-salt rocks and the sedimentary facies maps of the Awatag Formation were compiled. A development model of "dry and hot paleoclimate, continuous regression process, reef barrier background" of the Lower to Middle Cambrian gypsum-salt rocks was established. There are four sets of gypsum-salt rocks with four lithofacies combinations developed longitudinally and stably in the Wusongger and Awatag formations. The gypsum-salt rocks in the regression stage are featured by "inner salt, middle gypsum, outer red-layer", while those in the transgression stage are interbedded with gypsum, mudstone and dolomite. The average thickness of the Lower to Middle Cambrian cap rocks in the Tarim Basin is 245 m, and the average thickness of the gypsum-salt rocks is 167 m (340 m maximum), showing good sealing capacity. The arid-hot paleoclimate, continuous regression and reef and reef barrier provided favorable conditions for the development of thick gypsum-salt rocks in the Early to Middle Cambrian of the Tarim Basin. The paleoclimate and sea level change restricted the facies boundary between limited platform and evaporation platform, and made the Bachu Uplift and Awati Sag (the stable thickness of gypsum-salt rocks is over 300 m) become the salt accumulation center at that time.

Background and objective The clinical trials of new anti-tumor drugs are prospering in China. The acceptance of clinical trials in patients is an important factor affecting the speed and quality of clinical trials. Previous studies have investigated the acceptance of clinical trials in those cancer patients, who have never participated in a trial. This study is designed to investigate and compare the acceptance and related causes of clinical trials in cancer patients who have once participated in a clinical trial or not. Methods From June 2018 to April 2019, a standardized questionnaire-based survey was conducted among two groups of cancer patients classified by history of clinical trial participation in Cancer hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Science, mainly focusing on their overall acceptance of clinical trials and related considerations, including the role of attending doctors, as well as group differences between the two participants. Results A total of 538 patients were enrolled with an average age of 53.5 years old, 51.1% of whom were males, and 43.3% of whom have never participated in a clinical trial. Overall, 502 patients (93.3%) were willing to or recommend their relatives or friends to participate in clinical trials, and patients with history of clinical trial participation had higher willingness (96.6% vs 90.8%, P=0.008). Patients were most likely to be motivated by expectation of optimal treatment (100.0% vs 99.3%) for both those who had once participated in a clinical trial or those not, respectively followed by financial burden reduction (56.0%) and recommendation by attending doctor (43.7%). The main reasons for unwillingness-to-participate for those who had once participated in a clinical trial were abandoning other treatment options, divided into control group or additional visits, while for those who had never participated in a clinical trial, ineffective treatment or serious adverse reactions were their main concerns. In the decision-making of clinical trial participation, 88% patients highly valued the role of recommendation by attending doctors. Among patients without trial participation history, 60.9% of those had no unwillingness-to-participate expressed that recommendation by attending doctors would change their decisions. The study also reported patients' preferences for information and access to clinical trials. Conclusion The acceptance of clinical trials in cancer patients in our hospital is generally high, especially in patients who had a history of trial participation. It’s of substantial significance to give full play to the role of doctors in improving the acceptance of clinical trials of cancer patients in China.

Background and objective Early investigation suggested patients’ level of awareness regarding clinical trials was related with willingness to participation. This study was intended to evaluate the level of awareness of cancer patients regarding clinical trials and related influencing factors, and to compare the differences of awareness between patients who attended clinical trials before and not. Methods From Jun, 2018 to April, 2019, standardized question-naires were gathered from cancer patients (attended clinical trials vs not attended clinical trials) in our hospital regarding basic information and 10 other questions about awareness. The level of awareness was evaluated and patients were classified into “low cognition” and “high cognition” groups. Logistic regression analysis was performed to determine whether certain characteristics would predict for awareness. Results Of the 617 participants, 38.6% have attended clinical trials before. 338 (54.6%) patients had a correct overall understanding of clinical trials, while 44 (7.1%) patients still thought participants were the victim of scientific research. Except for the compensation of medical expenses (51.5% vs 48.7%) and related laws of clinical trials (52.3% vs 45.5%), other parts of understanding were elevated in patients attended clinical trials before comparing with patients who didn’t, including significance (86.2% vs 77.6%), risk disclosure (91.2% vs 71.6%), confidentiality (73.2% vs 59.7%), voluntariness (95.8% vs 76.3%), withdrawal (86.6% vs 68.2%) and expenses (62.8% vs 39.2%). The proportion of participants who understand these components did not increase even in 239 patients who had attended clinical trials before. Participants who attended clinical trials before (OR=1.83, 95%CI: 1.11-3.00), unmarried/divorced (OR=5.04, 95%CI: 1.73-14.66), retired (OR=2.53, 95%CI: 1.16-5.50) had a higher level of awareness, while patients who had bad impression with doctors (OR=0.43, 95%CI: 0.26-0.72) had lower awareness. Conclusion The current level of awareness for clinical trials of cancer patients in our hospital was relatively low, even in patients who had attended clinical trials before. It’s necessary to improve patients’ awareness of clinical trial by promoting harmony relationship between patients and doctors, as well as by enhancing related propagation. Strengthening the adequacy and efficacy of informed consent in clinical trials also needs to be achieved in the future.

Graphene ball reinforced SiCNO ceramics (SiCNO-GO) were prepared by using polyvinylsi-lazane (PVSZ) as raw material and graphene oxide (GO) as carbon source and anhydrous ethanol (ETOH) as dispersant. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy (Raman), electron spin resonance (EPR) and SEM were used to study the effect of SiCNO-GO ceramics on the dielectric properties. The results show that the microsphere density and particle size of SiCNO-GO ceramics are related to the content of GO. With the increase of GO content in SiCNO-GO ceramics, the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of SiCNO-GO ceramics also increase, reach the maximum value when the GO mass fraction is 0.1%. When the GO mass fraction is 0.3%, the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the SiCNO-GO ceramics decrease.

The study was to screen forage oat ( Avena sativa) varieties (lines) suitable for planting and utilization in Chongqing. The experiment studied the production performance, nutritional quality and disease resistance of 19 oat varieties, and used the grey correlation method for comprehensive evaluation. The results showed that Qingmu No.3 had the highest hay yield (1.26 kg/m²), which was significantly higher than other varieties except Baiyan No. 3 and other nine varieties ( P<0.05). The nutrient composition analysis showed that the variation of crude protein content was the largest (27.23%), among which Qingyin 2 had the highest crude protein content (21.87%), and the average crude protein of 19 varieties was 13.52%. Disease resistance analysis showed that high resistance varieties (HR) were Taike and Dahan, and eight varieties with disease resistance grade or above, and no rust immune varieties were found. The oat varieties with better performance were screened out by the comprehensive evaluation of grey relational degree method: Kanyan No. 4, Baiyan No. 3, Qingmu No. 3. The study indicates that Kanyan 4, Baiyan 3 and Qingmu 3 are suitable for promotion and utilization in Chongqing area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective·To assess the cardiopulmonary exercise capacity in patients with breast cancer after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the early stage and explore possible factors leading to the reduced functional tolerance in those patients. Methods·Fifty-two consecutive patients suffering from breast cancer and receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy were included and completed cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), laboratory tests, electrocardiograph and echocardiography after 1 cycle of chemotherapy in the Department of Cardiology, Renji Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from September, 2020 to May, 2021. Fifty-two healthy age-, gender- and body mass index (BMI)-matched volunteers were enrolled and received CPET as the control group. The general conditions, hematological biomarkers, electrocardiogram and echocardiography of the subjects in the two groups were collected and recorded. Results·Compared to the control group, the group of patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy had reduced peak VO2 [(18.22±3.48) mL/(min·kg) vs (22.80±3.13) mL/(min·kg), P=0.000], anaerobic threshold [(12.09±2.35) mL/(min·kg) vs (14.93±2.60) mL/(min·kg), P=0.000] and oxygen pulse [(7.67±1.45) mL/beat vs (8.87±1.29) mL/beat), P=0.000]. On multivariable regression analysis, BMI was independently associated with peak VO2 (β = - 0.528, P=0.047) of patients in the early stage of neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Conclusion·Decreased cardiopulmonary function could be detected in the early stage of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on patients with breast cancer via CPET. High BMI can be an independent predictor of the reduced peak VO2 . This paper mainly introduces the pretreatment of waste lithium battery and the research situation of related processes of recycling valuable metals, analyzes the main processes, principles, advantages and disadvantages of pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, united pyro-roasting & hydrometallurgy and biometallurgy, and prospects the recycling industry of spent lithium battery. Pyrometallurgy has strong adaptibility for raw materials and large processing capacity, which can make full use of the reduction and energy contained in spent lithium batteries. Hydrometallurgy is easy to achieve high metal leaching rate, and the use of reagents such as H3PO4 or ammonia can achieve preferential extraction of individual metals. Biometallurgy has certain challenges in the application of waste lithium batteries, mainly because waste lithium batteries contain toxic electrolytes, which seriously affect microbial activity. The united pyro-roasting and hydrometallurgy combines the advantages of pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy, and can extract the advantages of individual metals, which has potential application in future. To study the long-term prognosis of vesicoureteral reflux in children. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed for the clinical data of 138 children (218 ureters with reflux) who were diagnosed with vesicoureteral reflux for the first time from November 2005 to March 2017 and received medical treatment and regular follow-up. According to the initial grade of reflux, the ureters with reflux were divided into a low-grade group (141 ureters, grade I-III) and a high-grade group (77 ureters, grade IV-V), and the two groups were compared in terms of clinical data and follow-up results. Results Among the 138 children, there were 82 boys and 56 girls. Their age ranged from 31 days to 10 years at the time of confirmed diagnosis, with a median age of 8 months. The follow-up time ranged from 8 months to 7 years, with a median follow-up time of 1.4 years. At the time of confirmed diagnosis, the high-grade group had significantly higher levels of urinary N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase, urinary microalbumin and urinary immunoglobulin G than the low-grade group (P<0.05). Among the 218 ureters with reflux, 132 (60.6%) achieved a reduction in the grade of reflux (among which 74 achieved complete disappearance of reflux), 43 had no change in the grade of reflux, and 43 had an increase in the grade of reflux. Compared with the high-grade group, the low-grade group had a significantly higher complete remission rate (41.1% vs 19.5%, P=0.001) and a significantly shorter time to complete remission of reflux (P=0.002). Conclusions Most children with vesicoureteral reflux can achieve a reduction in the grade of reflux or even complete disappearance of reflux during follow-up, and the children with low-grade reflux have better prognosis than those with high-grade reflux. We reported the comprehensive treatment of an elderly critically ill patient with pelvic fracture.The functions and quality of life of the patient were recovered after collaborative nursing by both family and hospital according to the general practice principle of both mental and physical rehabilitation.We summarized the diagnosis and treatment strategies of this case,aiming to provide reference for the clinical treatment of such cases.

Objectives: To establish a system for simultaneous detection of miR-888 and miR-891a by droplet digital PCR (ddPCR), and to evaluate its application value in semen identification., Methods: The hydrolysis probes with different fluorescence modified reporter groups were designed to realize the detection of miR-888 and miR-891a by duplex ddPCR. A total of 75 samples of 5 body fluids (including peripheral blood, menstrual blood, semen, saliva and vaginal secretion) were detected. The difference analysis was conducted by Mann-Whitney U test. The semen differentiation ability of miR-888 and miR-891a was evaluated by ROC curve analysis and the optimal cut-off value was obtained., Results: There was no significant difference between the dual-plex assay and the single assay in this system. The detection sensitivity was up to 0.1 ng total RNA, and the intra- and inter-batch coefficients of variation were less than 15%. The expression levels of miR-888 and miR-891a detected by duplex ddPCR in semen were both higher than those in other body fluids. ROC curve analysis showed that the AUC of miR-888 was 0.976, the optimal cut-off value was 2.250 copies/μL, and the discrimination accuracy was 97.33%; the AUC of miR-891a was 1.000, the optimal cut-off value was 1.100 copies/μL, and the discrimination accuracy was 100%., Conclusions: In this study, a method for detection of miR-888 and miR-891a by duplex ddPCR was successfully established. The system has good stability and repeatability and can be used for semen identification. Both miR-888 and miR-891a have high ability to identify semen, and the discrimination accuracy of miR-891a is higher.

Objectives: To study the correlation between CT imaging features of acceleration and deceleration brain injury and injury degree., Methods: A total of 299 cases with acceleration and deceleration brain injury were collected and divided into acceleration brain injury group and deceleration brain injury group according to the injury mechanism. Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and Glasgow coma scale (GCS), combined with skull fracture, epidural hematoma (EDH), subdural hematoma (SDH) and brain contusion on the same and opposite sides of the stress point were selected as the screening indexes. χ 2 test was used for primary screening, and binary logistic regression analysis was used for secondary screening. The indexes with the strongest correlation in acceleration and deceleration injury mechanism were selected., Results: χ 2 test showed that skull fracture and EDH on the same side of the stress point; EDH, SDH and brain contusion on the opposite of the stress point; SAH, GCS were correlated with acceleration and deceleration injury ( P <0.05). According to binary logistic regression analysis, the odds ratio (OR) of EDH on the same side of the stress point was 2.697, the OR of brain contusion on the opposite of the stress point was 0.043 and the OR of GCS was 0.238, suggesting there was statistically significant ( P <0.05)., Conclusions: EDH on the same side of the stress point, brain contusion on the opposite of the stress point and GCS can be used as key indicators to distinguish acceleration and deceleration injury mechanism. In addition, skull fracture on the same side of the stress point, EDH and SDH on the opposite of the stress point and SAH were relatively weak indicators in distinguishing acceleration and deceleration injury mechanism.

Objectives: To apply the convolutional neural network (CNN) Inception&#95;v3 model in automatic identification of acceleration and deceleration injury based on CT images of brain, and to explore the application prospect of deep learning technology in forensic brain injury mechanism inference., Methods: CT images from 190 cases with acceleration and deceleration brain injury were selected as the experimental group, and CT images from 130 normal brain cases were used as the control group. The above-mentioned 320 imaging data were divided into training validation dataset and testing dataset according to random sampling method. The model classification performance was evaluated by the accuracy rate, precision rate, recall rate, F 1-value and AUC value., Results: In the training process and validation process, the accuracy rate of the model to classify acceleration injury, deceleration injury and normal brain was 99.00% and 87.21%, which met the requirements. The optimized model was used to test the data of the testing dataset, the result showed that the accuracy rate of the model in the test set was 87.18%, and the precision rate, recall rate, F 1-score and AUC of the model to recognize acceleration injury were 84.38%, 90.00%, 87.10% and 0.98, respectively, to recognize deceleration injury were 86.67%, 72.22%, 78.79% and 0.92, respectively, to recognize normal brain were 88.57%, 89.86%, 89.21% and 0.93, respectively., Conclusions: Inception&#95;v3 model has potential application value in distinguishing acceleration and deceleration injury based on brain CT images, and is expected to become an auxiliary tool to infer the mechanism of head injury.

Vegetation phenology, a regular and periodic phenomenon in nature, is an important indicator for natural environment, especially climate change. The study of spatiotemporal variations of vegetation phenology is of great significance for monitoring the changes of terrestrial vegetation. In this study, the Savitzky-Golay (S-G) filtering method was used to reconstruct time-series MODIS enhanced vegetation index (EVI) data in the Qinling Mountains from 2001 to 2018. The dynamic threshold method was used to extract the spring phenological parameter (start of growth season, SOS). The correlation between multi-year mean SOS and interannual variation with altitude and slope was analyzed. The results showed that SOS was delayed by 1.82 d with every 100 m increase in altitude in the Qinling Mountains. The interannual change trends of SOS mainly concentrated in 0-5 d·(10 a) -1 . The pixels with delaying trend were mainly distributed in low-altitude regions, with the delaying degree being gradually decreased with the elevation. The interannual change trend of SOS in high-altitude regions was more complex than that in lower-altitude regions. The multi-year average SOS in the northern slope was approximately 2.9 d earlier than that of the southern slope, whereas the southern slope had a more significant advancing trend. The interannual change trends of SOS in both north and south slopes showed a delaying trend in low-altitude, with little difference between north and south slopes. The advancing trend in middle and high altitude was significantly different.

Objective: To explore the influences of acute hypervolemic hemodilution(AHH) on serum levels of S-100β protein, neuron specific enolase(NSE) and postoperative cognitive dysfunction POCD in elderly patients with spinal surgery., Methods: A total of 80 cases elderly patients requiring elective spinal operation were divided into AHH group and C group according to random digits table, 40 cases in each group, with ASA grade I-II. The patients in AHH group were infused 6% hydroxyethyl starch 130/0.4 at a rate of 20 ml/min after anesthesia induction, and blood volume increased by about 20%, the patients in C group were not received AHH, anesthesia and surgical methods were the same as those in AHH group. Intraoperative blood volume, allogeneic blood transfusion and urine volume were recorded. Mean arterial pressure(MAP), heart rate(HR), central venous pressure(CVP) at preoperative 1 d, 1 h after the start of surgery, end of operation, 12 h after surgery were observed. Arterial blood oxygen content (CaO₂), venous blood oxygen content (CjvO₂), arteriovenous oxygen content difference (Da-jvO₂), and cerebral oxygen uptake(CERO₂) were measured at 1 d before surgery, 15 min after surgery, 45 min after surgery, end of surgery. Mini-mental state examination(MMSE) score and serum levels of S-100β protein, NSE were measured at 1 d before surgery, 1, 3, 7 d after surgery. POCD rates of two groups were recorded., Results: Intraoperative blood loss and allogeneic blood transfusion in AHH group was significantly lower than those in C group( P <0.05), and the urine volume was significantly higher than that in C group ( P <0.05). Compared with preoperative 1 day, MAP was decreased and CVP was increased at end of surgery in AHH group, compared with C group at the same time, MAP was lower and CVP was higher in AHH group, but both were in normal range. Compared with preoperative 1 day and C group, the levels of Da-jvO₂ and CERO₂ in AHH group was decreased at 15, 45 min after the start of the operation and end of surgery( P <0.05). Compared with preoperative 1 day, MMSE scores of two groups at 1 day after surgery was decreased ( P <0.05), the levels of S-100β protein and NSE were increased( P <0.05), and restored at 3, 7 days after surgery. There was statistical difference in MMSE scores, the levels of S-100β protein, NSE at 1 day after surgery between two groups ( P <0.05). A greenhouse pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different concentrations of lanthanum (0 mg·kg -1 , 50 mg·kg -1 , 200 mg·kg -1 and 800 mg·kg -1 ) on growth, nutrient uptake, C:N:P stoichiometry, and La and Pb uptake by maize ( Zea mays L.) under moderate lead stress (200 mg·kg -1 ) and evaluate the interaction of rare earth elements and heavy metals in the soil-plant system. The aim was to provide basic data and a theoretical basis for the remediation of rare earth element and heavy metal-co-contaminated soils in a rare earths mining area. The results indicate that the concentrations of CH 3 COONH 4 -EDTA-extractable La and Pb significantly increase and decrease, respectively, with increasing La concentrations of the soils. The shoot dry weights of maize significantly decreases by 17.90% to 81.17% and the root to shoot ratio of maize significantly increases by 21.74% to 86.96% with increasing La concentrations of the soils. With increasing La concentrations in soils, the root P contents of maize significantly decrease by 19.16% to 89.68%. The shoot P and N contents significantly decrease by 65.51% to 91.98% and 48.27% to 76.58%, respectively, when the exogenous application of La is 200 mg·kg -1 and 800 mg·kg -1 , respectively. The increasing La concentrations in soils significantly increase the C:P and N:P ratios and shoot and root La concentrations of maize. The shoot and root Pb concentrations of maize significantly increase by 52.61% to 99.01% and 15.99% to 44.34%, respectively, with increasing La concentrations. Overall, the increasing La concentrations in soils significantly decrease the K, Ca, and Mg contents of maize. The results demonstrate that the presence of rare earth elements aggravates the phytotoxicity of heavy metals to plant and ecological risks. Further research should focus on the effects and mechanisms of rare earth elements on the heavy metal uptake by plants.

We employed a comparative study to examine the effects of tree species transition on soil microbial biomass, community composition and enzymes activities under Cunninghamia lanceolata (Lamb.) Hook, Eucalyptus grandis and a N-fixing species, Acacia melanoxylon in subtropical China. Results showed that the effect of tree species on soil microbial community and enzymes activities was significant only in the 0-10 cm soil layer. Reforestation with N-fixing species A. melanoxylon on the C. lanceolata harvest site significantly increased the total phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA), fungal PLFAs, Gram-positive bacterial PLFAs, Gram-negative bacterial PLFAs and actinomycetes biomasses in the 0-10 cm soil layer. The principal component analysis (PCA) showed that the soil microbial community composition in A. melanoxylon soil differed significantly from that in C. lanceolata and E. grandis soils. N-fixing species (A. melanoxylon) significantly enhanced the percent abundance of Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria and actinomycetes. Activities of cellobiohydrolase, N-acetyl-β-d-glucosaminidase and acid phosphatase were significantly higher under A. melanoxylon than under C. lanceolata and E. grandis plantations. Our results suggested that reforestation with N-fixing species, A. melanoxylon on C. lanceolata harvest site could increase soil microbial biomass, enzyme activities and soil organic matter content.

A greenhouse pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi Claroideoglomus etunicatum (CE) and Rhizophagus intraradices (RI) on AM colonization rate, biomass, nutrient uptake, C:N:P stoichiometry, and the uptake and transport of lanthanum (La) and lead (Pb) by maize ( Zea mays L.) grown in La-and Pb-contaminated soils (combined La-Pb concentrations of 50, 200, and 800 mg·kg -1 ). The aim was to provide a scientific basis for the remediation of soils contaminated by rare earth elements and heavy metals. The results indicated that symbiotic associations were successfully established between the two isolates and maize, and the average AM colonization rate ranged from 26.7% to 95.8%. The increasing concentrations of La and Pb in soils significantly decreased the mycorrhizal colonization rate, biomass, and mineral nutrition concentrations of the maize, and significantly increased C:P and N:P ratios and the concentrations of La and Pb in shoots and roots of maize. The shoot and root dry weights of maize were significantly increased by 17.8%-158.9% with two AM fungi inoculations, while the P concentration of shoots and roots of the maize were significantly increased by 24.5%-153.8%. Inoculation with two AM fungi decreased the C:P and N:P ratios, consistent with the growth rate hypothesis. With AM fungi inoculation in three types of La-Pb co-contaminated soils, root Pb concentrations of the maize significantly increased by 51.3%-67.7%; shoot Pb concentrations of the maize significantly decreased by 16.0%-67.7%; and the transport rate of Pb from root to shoot of the maize decreased by 31.5%-54.7%. Meanwhile, inoculation with AM fungi significantly increased the shoot La concentrations in the maize grown in soils mildly contaminated with La-Pb, while it significantly decreased shoot La concentrations, increased root La concentrations of maize, and inhibited the transport of La from root to shoot of the maize grown in soils moderately contaminated with La-Pb, but had no significant effect in severely contaminated soils. The results showed that AM fungi had the potential to promote phytoremediation of soils contaminated with rare earth elements and heavy metals, with potential applications to revegetate such contaminated soil ecosystems.

In recent years, cyanide contamination problem is becoming more and more serious. Cyanides widely occur in the wastewater from metallurgical industry and electroplating industry. The efficiency for cyanides removal of conventional physical and chemical methods is not very satisfactory. Therefore, it is urgent to develop highly efficient and environmental friendly methods for the removal of cyanides. As an environmental-friendly oxidant, potassium persulfate is widely used in the treatment of organic pollutants. The destruction of Cu(CN) 3 2- was investigated by homogeneous K 2 S 2 O 8 under alkaline conditions, and the reaction mechanism was analyzed. The effects of the amount of K 2 S 2 O 8 and the ratio of Cu + /CN - on the degradation of CN - were studied. With the increase of K 2 S 2 O 8 dose, the rate of CN - oxidation was accelerated. The removal efficiency of CN - reached 89.6% after 60 min of reaction in the presence of 2 mmol·L -1 K 2 S 2 O 8 . Oxidation of CN - was accelerated with Cu + /CN - increasing from 2.0 to 5.0. Cu + was oxidized to Cu 2+ and copper oxide was formed during the reaction. The reactive radicals were analyzed using electron spin resonance and radical quenching experiments, and the results indicated that both radicals oxidation pathway and non-radical oxidation pathway were responsible for the removal of Cu(CN) 3 2- by K 2 S 2 O 8 .

With concentrated phosphoric acid as catalyst and various organic solvents as liquefying agents, corn stalk powder was liquefied into bio-oil in an autoclave, under the condition of 170 ℃. Analysis was conducted to throw light on the liquefying effects of three different agents; they are glycerol triacetate with ethylene carbonate, glycerol with ethylene carbonate and polyethylene glycol with ethylene carbonate(6∶1 ω/ω), and the properties of the biomass liquefaction oil products. FT-IR was applied to examine raw material and residues, whose chemical compositions were further analyzed with the use of GC-MS. The results of experiments indicated that the liquefaction yield of polyethylene glycol was 97.84%, the yield of glycerol triacetate was 80.20%, the yield of glycerol were36.97%. FT-IR analysis showed that the functional groups of cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin was disappeared and liquefaction is best when polyethylene glycol with ethylene carbonate was used as the liquefaction agent. GC-MS analysis showed that the oil composition produced in this way is complex, contains organic acids and ketones, alcohols and ethers, aromatic, sugars and esters compounds.

Objective: To validate the efficiency of 27-plex single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) multiplex system for ancestry inference., Methods: The 27-plex SNP system was validated for its sensitivity and species specificity. A total of 533 samples were collected from African, Southern Chinese Han, China's ethic minorities (Yi, Hui, Miao, Tibet, and Uygur), European, Central Asian, Western Asian, Southern Asian, Southeast Asian and South American populations for clustering analysis of the genotypes by citing 3 representative continental ancestral groups [East Asia (CHB), Europe (CEU), and Africa (YRI)] from HapMap database., Results: The system sensitivity is 0.125 ng. Twenty and six genotypes were detected in chimpanzee and monkeys, respectively. Except in rs10496971, no more products were found in other animals. The system was capable of differentiating intercontinental populations but not of distinguishing between East Asian and Southeast Asian population or between Southern Chinese Han population and Chinese Ethnic populations (Hui, Miao, Yi and Tibet). This system achieved a 100% accuracy for intercontinental population source inference for 46 blind test samples., Conclusion: 27-plex SNPs multiplex system has a high sensitivity and species specificity and can correctly differentiate the ancestry origins of individuals from African, European and East Asian for criminal case investigation. But this system is not capable of distinguishing subpopulation groups and more specific ancestry-informative markers are needed to improve its recognition of Southeast Asian and Chinese ethnic populations.

Transforming growth factor-β is an important cytokine with various bioactivities, including embryonic development, wound healing, chemotaxis and cell cycle regulation. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is the main pathway of tumor cell to obtain the ability of invasion and metastasis. The TGF-β is the key factor known to induce EMT in cancer cells and plays an important role in the process. In recent years, some progress has been obtained. Some TGF-β inhibitors have approved in the market or in clinical trials. TGF-β inhibitors can play an important role on the treatment of tumors, glaucoma, liver and kidney fibrosis disease and scar repair. Novel TGF-β inhibitors reported in recent years were reviewed in this article.

Objective: To explore the molecular mechanism of fibroblast growth factor 8b (FGF8b) in promoting epithelial-mesenchymal transition in prostate cancer DU145 cells., Methods: Cells were selected in three groups as follows: a block control group (DU145 cells), a negative control group [DU145 cells transfected with empty plasmid (pcDNA3.1/DU145)], and an experimental group [DU145 cells transfected with FGF8b (FGF8b/DU145)]. The activity of extracellular regulated protein kinases1/2( ERK1/2) pathway was detected by western-blot in the three groups. The FGF8b-DU145 cells and DU145 cells were cultured with PD98059 (an ERK kinase inhibitor) to observe microscopically the morphology changes within the cells. The experimental samples were also divided into four groups: FGF8b/DU145 cells cultured with 2% FBS (Group A); FGF8b/DU145 cells cultured with 2% FBS+PD98059 (50 μmol/L) (Group B); DU145 cells cultured with 2% FBS (Group C); DU145 cells cultured with FBS+PD98059 (50 μmol/L) (Group D). The expression of epithelial- mesenchymal transition (EMT) markers (E-cadherin, vimentin) were detected by western-blot analysis and the cell's mobility were detected by the Transwell chamber., Results: The activity of ERK1/2 in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the other two control groups; when ERK kinase inhibitor PD98059 was added to FGF8b/ DU145 cells, the expression of epithelial marker E-cadherin protein was significantly increased in group B compared with that in the group A (P<0.05). The expression of mesenchymal marker vimentin protein was significantly reduced in group B compared with that in group A (P<0.05). The cell migration assay suggested that cell migration was markedly decreased in group B (P<0.05) compared with that in group A., Conclusion: EMT in prostate cancer induced by FGF8b can be mediated by ERK kinase pathway, in which mitogen-activated/extraceluer signal regulated kinase 1 (MEK1) may be a key factor. MEK1 could be an effective target in regulating the invasion and migration of prostate cancer.

Objective: To investigate the feasibility and safety of adult-to-adult living-related donor liver transplantation using a right lobe graft., Methods: The clinical data of 2 cases of living-related donor liver transplantation performed between July, 2010 and November, 2010 were analyzed., Results: Liver transplantation was performed using a right lobe graft including the middle hepatic vein in one case and a right lobe graft without the middle hepatic vein in the other. The ratio of graft volume to standard liver volume was 46.2% and 47.3% in the two cases, with GR/WR of 0.83 and 0.80, and donor residue liver of 42.1% and 39.5%, respectively. The donor operation lasted for 6.5 h and 5 h in the two cases with blood loss of about 200-250 ml without blood transfusion. The donors recovered uneventfully without any surgical complications, whose liver function was normal 7 days after the operation, and were discharged 14 days and 16 days after the surgery, respectively. The recipient operation lasted for 8 h and 7 h with blood loss of about 800-1000 ml. The right hepatic vein, hepatic artery, portal vein and bile duct reconstruction were performed by end-to-end anastomoses in the 2 recipients. Bile duct anastomosis stricture occurred in the first recipient 2 months after transplantation and was treated with percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography and drainage. The second recipient recovered smoothly without any complications. The recipients have so far survived 9 months and 5 months, respectively., Conclusion: Adult-to-adult living-related donor liver transplantation is a safe and effective option for treatment of end-stage liver diseases in the context of cadaveric liver graft shortage.

Objective: To study the clinical effect and feasibility of blood type A donor liver transplantation in blood type O recipients., Methods: The clinical data were analyzed in 6 blood type O patients receiving transplantation of the liver grafts from blood type A donors. The clinical effect and outcomes of the transplantations were evaluated to assess the feasibility of ABO incompatible liver transplantation between type A donors and type O recipients., Results: The operations and the postoperative recovery were smooth in all the 6 recipients. Only one patient died 5 months postoperatively due to liver tumor metastasis, and the other 5 patients survived with the longest survival reaching 14 months. Acute graft rejection occurred in one patient 1 week after the operation on account of abnormally elevated serum bilirubin level, which was successfully managed with immediate methylprednisolone therapy. No such complications as acute graft rejection, bile duct stenosis or bile leakage was found in the other patients., Conclusion: Blood type A donor liver transplantation in type O recipient is feasible in emergency or other special conditions.

Gold-silver alloy nanoparticles with a homogeneous size distribution and good stability were synthesized in aqueous solution by one-step reduction with gallic acid as reductant in the absence of other stabilizers for the first time. The absorption spectra of as prepared gold-silver alloy nanoparticles under different reaction temperatures and with various gold-silver mole ratios were studied. The absorption spectra exhibit only one single peak with the maximum wavelength located between the absorption peaks of Au nanoparticles and Ag nanoparticles, however, the absorption spectrum of the physical mixtures of Au nanoparticles and Ag nanoparticles exhibits two absorption peaks coming from their corresponding monometallic metal nanoparticles, suggesting primarily the formation of the alloy nanoparticles. The maximal absorption peaks of alloy nanoparticles showed gradually a blue-shift with the rising of reaction temperature companying with the increase in absorbance and the narrowing of peak shape. The maximum absorption wavelengths of alloy nanoparticles showed a red-shift with increasing Au/Ag molar ratio in a linear fashion, further indicating the formation of alloy nanoparticles. HRTEM images showed that the as-prepared alloy nanoparticles with Ag/Au molar ratio of 1:1 are close to sphere in shape, homogeneous in size distribution and without capping phenomenon. EDX analysis suggested the present of Au and Ag in individual nanoparticles, and the Au/Ag mole ratio value of a sample with a nominal element composition was found to be close to the nominal value.

Quantum dots (QDs) have shown unique optical properties compared with traditional organic dyes. Now, more and more attention has been paid to them, especially in the fields of biological medicine and materials. Much work about QDs application in biology has been done by many researchers. In resent years, QDs have been widely used as biological probes. By observing the conjugation site between QDs and target molecules or tracking the movement of QDs in live cells, some information about transferring signals mechanism may be obtained, therefore, offering apparent evidence for controlling cell's growth and finding the factors in the deterioration of cancer. In the present paper, interactions among macro molecules are introduced with fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), fluorescent labeling of biological macro molecules, labeling and imaging of cells and tissues, and imaging in vivo. Furthermore, some developments and problems in application are summarized. Thirty seven references are cited.

Objective: To evaluate the surgical techniques and clinical effects of mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy (mini-PCNL) in the treatment of un-hydronephrotic cata-staghorn renal calculi., Methods: The clinical data of 46 cases (31 males and 15 females) treated by mini-PCNL were retrospectively analyzed. There were mono-renal calculi in 38 patients (3 patients were the isolated renal calculi) while the other 8 combined opposite side upper urinary tract calculi. The diameter of calculi ranged from 4.2 to 6.4 (mean=5.2) cm. Puncturation was guided by B-type ultrasound. Lithotripsy by air pressure path lithotripter and/or holmium laser was done when the pervium was established., Results: The pervium in the 46 patients was successfully established by one-session puncturation with B-type ultrasonography guidance. The operative time ranged from 140 to 280 (mean=190) min. The amount of blood ranged from 50 to 200 (mean=100) mL and no one needed blood transfusion. Calculus was completely removed in 18 patients (39.1%). Calculi in 10 patients (21.7%) were completely removed among the 20 patients who underwent second-look mini-PCNL. Calculi in 1 of the 3 cases were completely removed by third-look mini-PCNL. Left-over calculi in 17 patients (8 patients after the first time mini-PCNL, 7 patients after second-look, and 2 patients after third-look) were treated by extracorporeal shock-wave lithotripsy (ESWL) and 8 were removed completely. All the 46 patients were followed up for 4 to 48 months. None of them had nephro-hydrops or stenosis. Renal function re-investigation showed that 8 patients recovered and 2 improved in the 10 patients who had azotemia before. Two (5.4%, 2/37) had calculus recurrence in 37 cases which calculi were completely removed before. The size and amount of left-over calculi in 3 patients (33.3%, 3/9) were increasing., Conclusion: Mini-PCNL is effective and causes less trauma for un-hydronephrotic cata-staghorn renal calculi. Mini-PCNL combined ESWL may substitute the open operation and is the preferred method for un-hydronephrotic renal cata-staghorn calculi.

Objective: To study the impact of arsenic trioxide (As2O3) on human colorectal carcinoma LS-174T cells and their activity of telomerase., Methods: LS-174T cells and xenograft model of nude mice were treated with As2O3. The inhibitory effect of As2O3 on survival of LS-174T cells was determined by MTT assay. Apoptosis was determined by electron microscopy and fluorescence microscopy. Cell cycle was assessed by flow cytometry. Telomerase activity in LS-174T cells was determined by PCR-ELISA kit., Results: With the increasing concentration of As2O3, the ratio of living cells to dead cells decreased significantly, and the IC50 value was 5.23 micromol/L. Apoptosis curve appeared after 24 h and cells turned to apoptosis in a time-dependent manner. As2O3 inhibited the telomerase activity in cell extraction, obviously in a concentration-dependent and time-dependent manner. Inhibitiory effect of As2O3 on xenograft model of nude mice was observed by tumor volume and weight measurement, showing a significant difference between As2O3 and control groups (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: Both the experiments in vitro and in vivo showed an inhibitory effect of As2O3 on colonrectal cancer S-174T cell growth, probably by induction of apoptosis and inhibition of telomerase activity.

Water-soluble CdTe nanocrystals capped with cysteamine were synthesized rapidly in aqueous solution by microwave irradiation with controllable temperature. Absorption and fluorescence spectra showed that these prepared CdTe quantum dots had good optical properties. The structure and diameter were characterized by the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The effects of heating temperature, irradiation time and the concentrations of cysteamine on the growing velocity of CdTe QDs synthesized were also investigated. With the increase in the temperature and concentration of cysteamine, the nanoparticles grow faster, and for a longer reaction time, the maximum emission wavelength of the nanoparticles shows a red shift. Compared with the conventional aqueous synthesis, the microwave irradiation method showed some advantages such as the rapid velocity, good dispersibility and uniformity, narrow FWHM (full width at half maximum) and high quantum yield.

Objective: To explore the effects of survivin antisense RNA on apoptosis and chemosensitivity to docetaxel in gastric cancer line SGC7901 cells, and its relation to mdr-1., Methods: survivin antisense eukaryotic vector anti-pcDNA3-svv was transfected into SGC7901 cells by electorporation and positive clone was screened out. survivin protein and mdr-1 mRNA were determined by Western blot and RT-PCR. Apoptosis-inducing effect was examined by electron microscopy. Sensitivity to docetaxel was examined by MTT. Expression of mdr-1 and survivin mRNA were detected in the SGC7901 cells after drug-resisitance induction., Results: The expression of survivin protein of SGC7901 cells after transfection reduced significantly than that of non-transfected cells. MDR indexes of transfection group and non-transfection group were 0.196 +/- 0.013 and 3.126 +/- 0.019, respectively. The IC50 of transfection group to docetaxel was (16.7 +/- 1.98) microg/L and non-transfection group was (55.7 +/- 1. 89) microg/L, with a statistically significant difference. Expression of survivin mRNA in drug-resistant cells decreased along with the decreasing of mdr-1., Conclusion: Antisense surivivin RNA can induce apoptosis in gastric cancer cells and increase sensitivity to docetaxel. The reversing mechanism of drug resistance is related with decreasing of mdr-1.

Objective: To investigate the feasibility and advantage of hand-assisted laparoscopic live donor nephrectomy in renal transplantation., Methods: Six living relative donors received retroperitoneal left-side laparoscopic nephrectomy. The operating time of nephrectomy, the warm ischemic time, the recovery time of allograft and donors were recorded and analyzed., Results: The mean operating time of nephrectomy was 150 minutes, the mean warm ischemic time was 3.5 minutes, and the mean time of micturition after graft reperfusion was 82 seconds. The donors recovered rapidly and returned to normal within 30 days . The urine volume and renal function of the 6 recipients were normal without complications in the following 3 months., Conclusion: Hand-assisted laparoscopic live donor nephrectomy is feasible with short operating time and warm ischemic time; the donors experience less pain, and recover rapidly. This technique may be widely used in living donor nephrectomy.

Objective: To analysis the nutrient and effective ingredients of in Cordyceps militaris and make the best use of its medical value., Method: Adenosine, cordycepin, polysaccharides, cordyceps acid, protein and fat in different parts of C. militaris were extracted, they are quantified by HPLC and other colorimetric analysis., Result: The contents of polysaccharide was found to be 86.49 mg x g(-1) in C. militaris, 6.82 mg x g(-1) of adenosine in stroma, 13.28 mg x g(-1) of cordycepin and 44.07 mg x g(-1) of cordyceps acid in sclerolium., Conclusion: In different parts of C. militaris, the biosynthesis of effective ingredients is different. The total amount of effective ingredients is highest in C. militaris, the production of cordycepin and cordyceps acid is highest in sclerotium in comparison with other parts. Growth of C. militaris largely relies on its capability to utilize fat and protein from silkworm.

The psychrotrophs SYP-A2-3 producing the cold-adapted protease has been isolated from the bacterial samples collected from the No. 1 Glacier of China and identified as Bacillus cereus according to its morphological and physiochemical characteristics and 16s rDNA gene sequence analysis. It could grow between 0 degree C and 38 degrees C while its optimal growth temperature was 25 degrees C and the optimal temperature for its protease production was 15 degrees C. The cold-adapted protease was identified as neutral metallo-protease, the molecular weight was 34.2 kD shown by SDS-PAGE, the optimal pH and temperature for activity was 7.0-8.5 and 42 degrees C, respectively. Various fermentation conditions of its protease production were also investigated. The results showed that casein was the best nitrogen source while glucose and starch were suitable carbon source for its protease production. The initial pH of fermentation broth ranged from 6.5 to 7.0 was optimal. Under optimized conditions, the protease activity produced by SYP-A2-3 could reach 3800 U/mL and 4800 U/mL conducted in shaking flask and 5 L stirred jar experiment, respectively.

Objective: To study endoglin (CD105) gene expression in breast cancer and its clinicopathologic significance., Methods: In 40 patients with breast cancers, CD105 mRNA was detected at center and periphery of tumor and at nearby normal tissue by RT-PCR., Results: The difference in CD105 mRNA expressions between cancer and normal breast tissue was significant (t = 12.08, P < 0.05), and the expression was significantly higher at the tumor periphery than at the tumor center (t = 7.52, P < 0.05). CD105 over-expression was related to lymph node metastases (t = 2.71, P < 0.05), but not to age, tumor size, pathologic grade or pathologic type (P > 0.05)., Conclusion: CD105 over-expression may play a crucial role in the progression of breast cancer and lymph node metastasis.

Background & Objective: Cellular FLICE inhibitory protein (cFLIP) plays an important role in cell apoptosis, researches of antisense oligonucleotides (ASODN) of cFLIP gene may provide a new method or protocol for treatment of human gastric cancer. This study was to explore effect of cFLIP ASODN on apoptosis of human gastric cancer cell line BGC823., Methods: Human cervical cancer cell line HeLa was used as control, cFLIP ASODN was introduced into BGC823 cells and HeLa cells, reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blot were used to detect cFLIP(L/S) (cellular FLIP(Short) and cellular FLIP(long)) mRNA and protein. The 5'FAM-conjugated ASODN was created complementary to a sequence that included the start site of FLIP open reading frame. After introducing, MTT was used to detect cell inhibition rate,TUNEL and flow cytometry (FCM) were used to detect cell apoptosis, and Western blot was used to detect protein level of cFLIP., Results: The encoding mRNA and protein of cFLIP(L) and cFLIP(S) can be detected in both HeLa and BGC823 cells. MTT revealed that cFLIP ASODN significantly inhibited proliferation of BGC823 cells (P< 0.05) in a concentration-dependent manner. TUNEL staining detected positive FLIP expression, specific apoptotic peak can be detected before G1 peak by FCM, and Western blot revealed that protein level of cFLIP(L) and cFLIP(S) decreased significantly (P< 0.05)., Conclusion: The cFLIP(L/S) mRNA and encoded proteins expressed in both HeLa and BGC823 cells. ASODN may down-regulate cFLIP(L/S) protein level, and initiate apoptosis of BGC823 cells.

The petroleum ether, chloroform, and methyl alcohol extracts of wild and cultivated Rhodiola saccharinensis A. Bor and Rhodila angusta Nakai taken from Changbai Mountains, and obtained by the same isolation procedure, were for the first time studied with Fourier transform infrared spectrometry(FTIR), and the spectra obtained were compared with those of a sort of goods named Rhodiola Cake (Hong Jing Tian Kuai). It was shown that the infrared spectra of the wild and cultivated Rhodiola saccharinensis A. Bor and Rhodila angusta Nakai are different, which can be used to determine and evaluate their respective species.

Objective: To investigate the expression of S100 in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and its relation with P53., Methods: Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expressions of S100A1, S100B and the mutant P53 in 36 RCC and 14 normal kidney tissues. The associations of S100 protein expression with the tumor pathological types, clinical stages and P53 expression were analyzed., Results: The positive rates of S100A1 expression in RCC and normal kidney tissues were 72.2% and 21.4%, respectively (P <0.01); S100A1 expression in RCC was significantly correlated with its stage and degree of malignancy. The positive rates of the mutant P53 expression in RCC and normal kidney tissues were 30. 6% and zero respectively (P <0.05), and its expression was not associated with the stage and degree of malignancy degree of RCC (P > 0.05). There was no significant difference in S100B expression between RCC (36.1%) and normal kidney tissues (64.3%, P >0.05). There was no significant correlation between the mutant P53 and S100A1 or S100B expression (P > 0.05)., Conclusion: S100A1 may serve as a new useful marker in judging the degree of malignancy and invasion of RCC.
