The Côte d' Ivoire Basin is one of the important oil production areas in Africa. Based on the comprehensive analysis of drilling, logging, and geochemical data in Côte d' Ivoire Basin, this paper comprehensively evaluated the Cretaceous lacustrine source rocks in the study area, established the total organic carbon(TOC) quantitative prediction model of the Cretaceous source rocks in the study area by using the organic carbon method, determined the relationship between seismic reflection characteristics and geochemical characteristics of the source rocks, and tracked the main source rocks horizontally. The results show that the TOC of the Lower Cretaceous Albian source rocks is 2.63%, the kerogen type II is dominant, and the Ro is 0.3%-0. 9%. Source rocks are mainly in the low-mature to mature stage, and generally of good and premium quality. Premium quality source rocks are mainly distributed in the central area of the eastern depression of the basin, TOC values is ranging from 4. 00 % to 5.00 %, thickness is large, and continuity is good. Taking Africa Fang race's sculpture of West Equatorial as a case study, this paper discusses three paradigms in the Western art anthropology during the last half century. The first paradigm is stylistic analysis, which emphasizing the sculpture itself and its morphological properties. This quantitative approach aimed at distinguishing sculptural styles and sub styles and its goal is mapping the art production of the Fang geographically. Such a typological approach has colonial roots and serves the purposes of surveillance and control. The second is qualitative analysis which focuses not on form but on meaning. On the basis of local research, anthropologists presented Fang sculpture as the embodiment of the Fang social cultural value system. This approach, based on fieldwork and highlighting culture's unique values and thinking ways, may be considered as classical cultural anthropology paradigm. It followed Franz Boas's teachings created in the US. This research tradition rooted in nineteenth--century Germany. The third is post--colonialism paradigm. This paradigm investigated the attitude of western artists, collectors, and museums since Fang sculpture arrived in Europe at the nineteenth--century. It pays attention to the appropriation of these things, including re--labeling them as "work as art" and their commoditization in the international art market. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In April 2016, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) adjusted its polio vaccination strategy, converting trivalent oral polio vaccine (tOPV) into bivalent oral polio vaccine (bOPV), and withdrawing type 2 oral polio vaccine (OPV2) globally. However, after the withdrawal of OPV2, there were many outbreaks of type-2 circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus (cVDPV2) in Asia and Africa. In order to eradicate poliovirus completely, GPEI launched the research and development of the novel serotype 2 oral polio vaccine (nOPV2) in 2010 and considering whether it is necessary to reuse OPV. This paper summarizes the epidemiological situation of cVDPV2 before and after OPV2's withdrawal, the related factors affecting the reuse of OPV and the related research progress of nOPV2.

Objective: To detect the chloroquine-resistant molecular marker polymorphisms in Plasmodium falciparum imported into China, investigate the mutation types of P. falciparum chloroquine resistant transporter ( Pfcrt ) gene at positions 72 to 76, and analyze the specificity of the P. falciparum specimens with different origins., Methods: A total of 674 filter paper blood samples were collected from the National Malaria Diagnosis Reference Laboratory of China in 2012 and 2018. The amino acid po- sitions 72 to 76 of the Pfcrt gene on chromosome 7 were amplified using nested PCR assay and sequenced, and the sequencing results of the target gene fragment and the geographical region-specific prevalence of the mutations in the Pfcrt gene were analyzed., Results: Among the 674 imported P. falciparum malaria cases in China in 2012 and 2018, 99.5% (644/674) were from Africa, which were predominantly from western and central Africa (80.4%, 518/644), and 4.5% (30/674) from Southeast Asia and Oceania (Papua New Guinea). A total of 4 site mutations (C72S, M74I, N75E and K76T) and 5 haplotypes (CVMNK, CVIET and SVMNT and two mixed types) were identified, with haplotypes CVMNK and CVIET present in parasites of both African and Southeast Asian origins, SVMNT detected in Southeast Asia (Myanmar) and Papua New Guinea isolates, the mixed type of haplo- types CVMNK/CVIET detected in P. falciparum of African and Southeast Asian origins, and the mixed type of haplotypes CVMNK/SVMNT detected only in the Myanmar isolate. Most P. falciparum parasites of the African origin carried the wild-type Pfcrt allele (77.7%, 478/615), and 68.0% (17/25) of the P. falciparum parasites of the Southeast Asian and Papua New Guinea or- igins harbored chloroquine resistant molecular markers ( χ 2 = 28.5, P allele varied in different geographical regions of Africa ( Pfcrt allele varied in different geographical regions of Africa ( P allele was seen in western Africa.Pfcrt allele was seen in western Africa., Conclusions: Among the 674 imported malaria cases in China in 2012 and 2018, the P. falciparum imported from Sotheast Asia habors a higher proportion of resistance to chloroquine and a higher molecular polymophism at ami- no acid positions 72 to 76 of the Pfcrt gene than the parasite of the African origin.

Abstract: Genetic markers, such as single nucleotide polymorphism （SNP）, insertion/deletion （InDel）, were discovered and widely used with the development of whole genome sequencing and bioinformatics technology. The origin and genetic structure of the modern population had been gradually revealed from the perspective of genetics. The study on biogeographic ancestry inference in the field of forensic genetics emerged and developed rapidly, providing clues and scientific basis for the determination of investigation direction and for the narrow of the scope of investigation in the process of case investigation. The outbreak of infectious diseases is a major problem impacting the health of African people and global public health. It is important to establish a surveillance system and conduct continuous, appropriate and systemic surveillance for the prevention and control of infectious diseases. With the implementation of "The Belt and Road Initiative" , the communication and collaboration between China and Africa will be enhanced. Understanding and taking part in the surveillance, prevention and control of infectious diseases in Africa would be helpful for ensuring global public health and promoting economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa. This paper aims to introduce and analyze the current status of surveillance for infectious diseases in Africa from the aspect of whole Africa, partial Africa and some African countries to provide reference for the prevention and control of imported infectious diseases in China and implementation of international medical relief by China.

This paper reported one acute lymphoblastic leukemia patient who infected with Plasmodium falciparum after blood transfusion. Through the epidemiological investigation on this patient and the related blood donors as well as laboratory detections, the source of infection was ascertained. This blood donor was an overseas student from Africa, whose blood sample was positive in the rapid diagnostic test, and the results of microscopic examination of peripheral blood smear and PCR both suggested P. falciparum positive.

Objective: To compare the genetic diversity of imported Plasmodium falciparum by Polyα and TAA87 microsatellite markers in Southeast Asian and African geographical isolates., Methods: Ninety-two and 126 filter paper samples from patients infected with P. falciparum from Southeast Asia (Myanmar) and Africa (Ghana) were collected, respectively. Two neutral microsatellite loci, Polyα and TAA87 were amplified by PCR. The length of PCR fragments was detected by capillary electrophoresis. The allele frequency and expected heterozygosity ( H e) were calculated by Excel 2010 and GenALEx 6.0 software., Results: A total of 146 P. falciparum samples were analyzed as single infection samples with a total of 26 alleles in locus Polyα and 12 alleles in locus TAA87. The mean H e value of the two loci was 0.86 ± 0.02. Ten alleles in locus Polyα and 8 alleles in locus TAA87 were distributed in Myanmar isolates, with the H e values of 0.86 and 0.81 respectively. Fifteen alleles in locus Polyα and 11 in locus TAA87 were detected in Ghana isolates, with the H e values of 0.91 and 0.86 respectively. In addition, the haplotype of 174 bp (Polyα) and 113 bp (TAA87) were only detected in Myanmar isolates with more than 17% gene frequency, whereas they were absent in Ghana isolates., Conclusions: The two different geographical sources of imported P. falciparum strains have different allele frequencies and haplotypes at the two neutral microsatellite markers, Polyα and TAA87. Therefore, these two microsatellite loci may be considered as the potential molecular marker candidates for identifying P. falciparum strains with different geographical sources.

Objective: To understand characteristics of demographic, seasonal and spatial distribution of H5N1 cases in major countries of Asia (Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, China) and Africa (Egypt). Methods: Through searching public data resource and published papers, we collected cases information in five countries from May 1st, 1997 to November 6th, 2017, including general characteristics, diagnosis, onset and exposure history, etc. Different characteristics of survived and death cases in different countries were described and χ(2) test was used to compare the differences among death cases and odds ratio ( OR ) and 95 %CI value was used to compare death risk in different countries. Results: A total of 856 cases were reported in five countries with Egypt had the most cases (44.3%). The highest number of cases were reported in 2015 (18.3%). 53% cases were reported from January to March, and 96.1% of cases had the history of poultry exposure. 64.2% (43 cases) cases in China had live poultry market exposure, but the sick/dead poultry exposure was the major exposure for cases in other four countries. 452 death cases were reported in five countries, and the fatality rate was 52.8%. With Egypt as the reference group, the highest death risk was seen in Indonesia ( OR (95 %CI ): 11.52 (7.46-17.77)), followed by Cambodia ( OR (95 %CI ): 4.27(2.37-7.69)) and China ( OR (95 %CI ): 2.87 (1.73-4.74)). The age distribution of death cases among 5 countries was statistically significant, and the highest fatality rate was in 15-54 years group in Egypt (83.6%, 102 cases), while in Cambodia the highest fatality rate was in 0-14 years group (76.9%, 30 cases). The highest number of deaths were reported in 2006, and 48.3% were reported from January to March. There was difference in exposure routes among 5 countries (χ(2)=43.85, P= 0.001), 63.2% (24 cases) of the death cases in China had live poultry market exposure. 92.9% (79 cases), 83.3% (40 cases) and 100.0% (38 cases) death cases in Indonesia, Vietnam and Camodia had sick/dead poultry exposure, respectively;and 81.6% (31 cases) of the death cases in Egypt had backyard poultry exposure. Conclusion: The geographical distribution, seasonal age, gender, exposure matter and outcome of H5N1 cases in five countries were different.

With the economic globalization, and the economic and trade cooperation and cultural communication between China and African countries, more and more Chinese people go to Africa for work or travel. However, there is a quick increase of imported schistosomiasis patients who return from Africa. This paper analyzes the security implications of epidemic characteristics of Africa schistosomiasis on the people who go to Africa, and put forward several suggestions to help them to prevent from schistosomiasis.

This paper reports the hematology screening and parasite morphological features of one case of imported falciparum malaria, and reviews the relevant literature.

The process of diagnosis, epidemiological survey and treatment of two cases of African imported quartan malaria is reported in this paper.

The habitats of Biomphalaria straminea, the intermediate host of Schistosoma mansoni, have been found in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Shenzhen City of People's Republic of China. Currently, there is a sharp increase in the number of Africa-aid projects and workers moving to Africa, and more and more cases infected with S. mansoni or S. haematobium returning from African countries have been detected in China. The possibility of transmission of African schistosomiasis in Chinese mainland, in the context of global climate warming, has received much attention. This paper illustrates the risk of transmission of African schistosomiasis in China based on biological and epidemiological features, and proposes interventions to tackle the risk.
