The sources and trends of antibiotics and heavy metals in the environment, the current pollution status of their combined pollution and the research progress of their ecological effects were reviewed. Antibiotics and heavy metals coexist in the environment with high probability, which have been detected simultaneously in water and soils environment in many areas of China. The main pathways of combined pollution of them were the returning field of manure and sewage and waste water treatment plant. The combined pollution of antibiotics and heavy metals has the ecotoxicological effects on plants, animals and microorganisms, and the degree of the ecotoxicological effect of the combined pollution is related to the types and concentrations of pollutants, biological species and exposure times. Water environment is one of the main sites of combined pollution by antibiotics and heavy metals. There are few studies on the effects of combined pollution of them on aquatic organisms, which need to be further explored. The in-depth and comprehensive toxicological analysis should be conducted from the cellular and molecular levels to study the biotoxicological effects of combined pollution of them. With the video games developed so rapidly that has been a kind of life style in the digital age, the aesthetic research on them becomes an integral part of the contemporary aesthetic culture and a symbol of the maturity of the video game art industry. However, such research in China falls into a dilemma because of the improper choice of research orientation in the field of game aesthetics. To get rid of such dilemma, the basic way is to frame a description of video game poetics via repeated deliberation of the game scenario to abstract the essences of video games and their relationships. Using phenol-sulfuric acid method and hot-dip method of alcohol-soluble extracts, the contents of polysaccharides and alcohol-soluble extracts in 11 F1 generations of Dendrobium officinale were determined. The results showed that the polysaccharides contents in samples collected in May and February were 32.89%-43.07% and 25.77%-35.25%, respectively, while the extracts contents were 2.81%-4.85% and 7.90%-17.40%, respectively. They were significantly different among families. The content of polysaccharides in offspring could be significantly improved by hybridization between parents with low and high polysaccharides contents, and the hybrid vigor was obvious. Cross breeding was an effective way for breeding new varieties with higher polysaccharides contents. Harvest time would significantly affect the contents of polysaccharides and alcohol-soluble extracts. The contents of polysaccharides in families collected in May were higher than those of polysaccharides in families collected in February, but the extracts content had the opposite variation. The extents of quantitative variation of polysaccharides and alcohol-soluble extracts were different among families, and each family had its own rules. It would be significant in giving full play to their role as the excellent varieties and increasing effectiveness by studying on the quantitative accumulation regularity of polysaccharides and alcohol-soluble extracts in superior families (varieties) of D. officinale to determine the best harvesting time.

497 fecal specimens were collected from 5 randomly selected villages of Bama County in December 2011, and tested for Blastocystis hominis infection using improved centrifugal sedimentation with hydrochloric acid-ether. Data were analyzed by villages, gender, occupation, age groups and ethnic populations. The results showed that 215 people of 497 were positive, with a prevalence of 43.3% (215/497). Pandang village had the highest infection rate of 55.7% (68/122), significantly higher than the other villages (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in genders, occupations, age groups and ethnic populations (P>0.05).

This study analyzed the sensitivities of three vegetation biochemical parameters [chlorophyll content (Cab), leaf water content (Cw), and leaf area index (LAI)] to the changes of canopy reflectance, with the effects of each parameter on the wavelength regions of canopy reflectance considered, and selected three vegetation indices as the optimization comparison targets of cost function. Then, the Cab, Cw, and LAI were estimated, based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm and PROSPECT + SAIL model. The results showed that retrieval efficiency with vegetation indices as the optimization comparison targets of cost function was better than that with all spectral reflectance. The correlation coefficients (R2) between the measured and estimated values of Cab, Cw, and LAI were 90.8%, 95.7%, and 99.7%, and the root mean square errors of Cab, Cw, and LAI were 4.73 microg x cm(-2), 0.001 g x cm(-2), and 0.08, respectively. It was suggested that to adopt vegetation indices as the optimization comparison targets of cost function could effectively improve the efficiency and precision of the retrieval of biochemical parameters based on PROSPECT + SAIL model.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy between protein-free calf blood extract eye drops and recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) eye drops for mechanical corneal epithelial defects in human eyes., Methods: A multi-center, randomized and double-blind study with a parallel, positive-control designation was carried out from April to November in 2005 at Department of Ophthalmology, Eye Ear Nose and Throat Hospital of Fudan University, Xinhua Hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University, the First Hospital of Zhejiang University, the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University and Qingdao Municipal Hospital. 240 patients (240 eyes) with confirmed diagnosis of corneal epithelial defects at that six hospitals were enrolled in this study and were randomly arranged into two groups in average. One group (120 eyes) were treated by 20% protein-free calf blood extract eye drops which was defined as the experimental group while the other (120 eyes) by 5000 IU/ml recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) eye drops as the positive control group. The drug was delivered in both groups 4 times per day, one drop each time in the 14 days duration. The symptoms and signs were scored and the safety was evaluated on the pre-delivery day, the third post-delivery day (day 3), day 7 and day 14. The variants in the study were tested for the different efficacy and safety between the two drugs using non-inferiority test, paired t-test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, chi-square test, continuity correction chi-square test, Fisher's exact probabilities, analysis of variance, Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel chi-square test and so on. The criterion for statistical significance was P < 0.05., Results: There was no significant difference in efficacy between the protein-free calf blood extract group and the recombinant human epidermal growth factor group (day 3: X2 = 1.5677, P = 0.4566, day 7: X2 = 1.7152, P = 0.4242, day 14: X2 = 3.0814, P = 0.2142). The total scores of symptoms and signs in experimental group had a obvious descending (6.009 +/- 3.030) compared with the positive control group with a descending of (5.177 +/- 2.582), which reached the significant level (t = 2.2367, P = 0.0263). Ocular local stimulates and general side effect were not observed within the treatment course. There was no significant difference between the two groups in the comparison of pre- and post-therapy visual acuity. The difference was not significant when comparing the uncomfortable feelings, including eye burning and eye itching (eye burning: day 3: X2 = 0.4394, P = 0.932, day 7: X2 = 1.4710, P = 0.479,day 14: X2 = 2.1875, P= 0.335, and eye itching: day 3: X2 = 2.1045, P = 0.349, day 7: X2 = 2.0192, P = 0.364, day 14: X2= 0.6863, P = 0.407). And the positive control group gave priority to the experimental group in comfortability. A better comfortableness was reported in the protein-free calf blood extract group on the third day post-delivery (X2 = 6.626, P = 0.0100). However, no obvious difference was examined on day 7 and day 14 post-delivery., Conclusion: Protein-free calf blood extract eye drops has confirmed efficacy, good safety, quick effect and better comfortableness.

Objective: To review the diagnosis methods and treatment modalities of vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia III (VINIII) and to analyse its prognostic factors., Methods: The data of 24 patients with VINIII from 1992 to 2002 were retrospectively reviewed and analysed., Results: Among these 24 patients, 62.5% (15 patients) were aged less than 40 years and 37.5% (9 patients) over 40 years. Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection was found in 53.3% and 2/9 of these two groups. Treatment modality for all patients was surgical excision including extended local excision (33.3%) and simple vulvectomy (66.7%). 3 patients (12.5%) developed recurrence. Positive resection margin was correlated with recurrence, while age, HPV infection, multifocality and resection modality were not., Conclusion: During recent years, the incidence of VIN has been on the increase in younger woman patients which maybe due to the increase of HPV infection, and the data show that the recurrence rate is correlated with positive margin. Treatment should be individualized and either extended local excision or simple vulvectomy is appropriate. Periodical follow-up should be done.

This paper studied the clonal architecture of two divergent Leymus chinensis types (grey-green type and yellow-green type) in Songnen grassland, and compared their internode length, spacer length, interbranching length, interbranching angle, and ramet population density and height under the same habitat. The results showed that there was no significant difference in these clonal characteristics except spacer length and ramet population density between the two types of L. chinensis, and yellow-green type, with less spacer length and more ramet density than grey-green type, should be more adaptable to the resourceful habitat. Moreover, the V-indices of the clonal architecture of two divergent L. chinensis types were all close to 1, and the difference was not significant. Therefore, both of the two types belonged to typical guerilla clonal plant.

Objectives: To investigate the prevalence of oncogenic type of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and identify the high risk population for conducting immuno/chemoprevention of cervical cancer., Methods: All married women aged 30 to 50 with no history of hysterectomy, pelvic radiation and non-pregnant from certain villages of Xiangyuan and Yangcheng County were invited. This study was conducted through two phases. In phase one, subjects sampled the vaginal secretions using the collectors after signing the informed consent. And physicians sampled exfoliated cells from cervix in the phase two. All the specimens were tested with the Hybrid Capture 2 test. The data was managed and analyzed by VFP and SPSS software., Results: There were 9,683 women participated in this study. Local women welcomed this study and population compliance rate was 75.4%. In tested population, we found 2,666 subjects of HPV DNA positive and HPV prevalence was 27.5%. The rates of different age group were 24.5% (30-34 yrs), 27.4% (35-39 yrs), 28.2% (40-44 yrs), 27.4% (45-50 yrs) respectively and had no significant differences (P = 0.604). The rates were slightly increased with the higher education level and had no differences (P = 0.106). The rate in mountain areas was higher than that in half-mountain areas (P = 0.001)., Conclusions: The prevalence of HPV infection is indeed high in this region. Local women and health professionals welcome the activities of cervical cancer screening and prevention. It is an emergent task to improve their sanitary condition and prevent them from cervical cancer in these women. A women health cohort is established successfully among high HPV exposed women in rural China. The extensive biologic specimen repository has been successfully established to simultaneously study the etiology, early detection, and immuno/chemoprevention of cervical cancer.
