Lung cancer is one of the common malignant tumors in the world, and its incidence and mortality is increasing year by year. Interactions between tumor cells and immune cells in the tumor microenvironment(TME) affect tumor proliferation, infiltration, and metastasis. Tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs) are prominent components of TME, and they have dual regulation effects on malignant progression of lung cancer. The number, activity, and function of M2 macrophages are related to the poor prognosis of lung cancer, and M2 macrophages participate in tumor angiogenesis and immune escape. It has been proved that traditional Chinese medicines(TCMs) and their active ingredients can enhance the antitumor effects, reduce the toxicity of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and prolong the survival rates of patients with cancer. This paper summarized the role of TAMs in the lung cancer initiation and progression, explored the molecular mechanism of TCM in regulating the recruitment, polarization phenotype, activity, and expression of related factors and proteins of TAMs, and discussed related signal pathways in the prevention and treatment of lung cancer based on the TCM theory of "reinforcing healthy qi and eliminating pathogen". This paper is expected to provide new ideas for the immunotherapy of targeted TAMs.

New, science-based cancer treatments have proliferated in recent years. Immunotherapy provides new hope for prolonging survival in patients with advanced-stage cancers. However, patients with cancer must not only face their disease progression, physical, and psychological symptoms, but also deal with the side effects and efficacy of immunotherapy. Patients with cancer may experience complex emotions such as fear, anxiety, depression, or uncertainty relatively frequently and may have many unmet care needs specific to immunotherapy. However, articles on the physical and psychological impacts and supportive care needs experienced by patients with advanced-stage cancers undergoing immunotherapy and their family caregivers are limited in the literature. Thus, this paper was developed to present (1) a brief introduction to cancer immunotherapy; (2) the physical and psychological impacts experienced by patients with cancer undergoing immunotherapy and their caregivers; (3) the status of the supportive care needs of patients and family caregivers during the immunotherapy process; and (4) an assessment of and intervention to address the supportive care needs of these patients with cancer and their caregivers. We hope this article will help clinical healthcare providers understand the physical and psychological impacts and supportive care needs of advanced patients with cancer and their family caregivers during the immunotherapy process. Furthermore, we suggest that appropriate medical care be provided or developed in the future to improve their quality of life during the immunotherapy process and to enhance clinical practices.

Water samples from the two underground rivers (Fenghuang River and Longju River) and samples of the dry and wet deposition of atmospheric dissolved inorganic nitrogen were taken from the Longfeng karst trough valley located in the Zhongliang mountain in the suburbs of Chongqing from May 2017 to April 2018. Anions, cations, δ 15 N(NO 3 - ), δ 18 O(NO 3 - ), δ 18 O(H 2 O), and δ 13 C(DIC) isotope data were used to investigate the NO 3 - source and its environmental effects. The results showed:① The hydrochemistry of the two underground rivers is of the type HCO 3 -Ca. The NO 3 - concentration varied from 17.58 to 32.58 mg·L -1 , with an average of 24.02 mg·L -1 , and was slightly higher in rainy season than the dry season, revealing that the underground rivers were polluted. ② The δ 15 N(NO 3 - ) value ranged from -3.14‰ to 12.67‰, with an average value of 7.45‰. The δ 18 O(NO 3 - ) value ranged from -0.77‰ to 12.05‰ with an average value of 2.90‰, and was higher in the dry season than the rainy season, indicating that animal excreta and domestic sewage were main NO 3 - sources throughout the year. In addition, rainfall, fertilizer, and soil nitrogen were the NO 3 - sources during the rainy season. There are no significant differences between the NO 3 - sources of the two underground rivers, and nitrification is the main nitrogen conversion process. ③ The molar ratio of (Ca 2+ +Mg 2+ )/HCO 3 - varied from 0.65 to 0.82. That of the Fenghuang River was 0.75 and that of the Longju River was 0.70. The δ 13 C(DIC) value ranged from -12.46‰ to -9.20‰, with a mean of -11.10‰ in the Longju River and -10.72‰ in the Fenghuang River. These values indicated that the HNO 3 derived from the nitrification of NH 4 + was involved in the weathering of carbonate rocks. ④ HNO 3 dissolved carbonate rocks and aggravated the chemical weathering of carbonate rock in the basin, contributing 8% of the DIC in groundwater, and 9% and 7% in Fenghuang River and Longju River, respectively.

In this study, we analyzed the stable hydrogen and oxygen isotopes of precipitation and three different land use patterns (cultivated land, grass land, and forest land) at 0-15 cm and 15-45 cm in a karst ridge-trough area (Zhongliang Mountain, Beibei District, Chongqing) in May 2017 and September 2017 to investigate the spatial and temporal variation of stable isotopes in different soil profiles using the isotope tracer technique. The results show that:① The average values of the soil water δ D and δ 18 O are -50.0‰±33.6‰ and -7.9‰±4.3‰, respectively, and all plot around the local meteoric water line (LMWL), indicating that precipitation is the main source of the soil water supply in this area. ② The seasonal variations of δ D and δ 18 O of the soil water are significant in different months of the rainy season, May (-19.4‰±6.8‰ and -4.1‰±1.0‰)>September (-82.2 ‰±14.0‰ and -11.9‰±2.2‰). ③ However, there is no significant difference in the soil water δ D and δ 18 O under different land use patterns. ④ The soil water δ D and δ 18 O change with soil depth gradients, which decrease along the depth in vertical direction for all types of soil land use in May but mainly increase/decrease in the cultivated land and woodland/grassland in September, respectively.

Since resistant dissolved organic matter (RDOM) plays a critically important role in a karst carbon sink, one of the most important continental carbon sinks, research focusing on the origination, transportation, and translation of RDOM in a karst water system is important. Currently, 3D-fluorescence EEMs are used to detect the composition and origination of chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM), an important part of RDOM. This is a very fast and efficient method for CDOM analysis. In this study, 3D-fluorencence EEMs combined with UV-visible absorption spectrum were used to analyze the composition and origination of CDOM in the Bitan River at Jinfo Mountain. Samples were collected from nine sampling sites from January to March 2017 and analyzed with CDOM EEMs and UV-visible absorption spectrums. In addition hydrochemical characteristics were determined and then samples were stimulated with PARAFAC to detect the chromophoric fluorescent groups and indexes. The PARAFAC stimulation revealed three chromophoric fluorescent groups in which fulvic acid was the largest component, accounting for about 44%, with a humic acid content of about 32% and tyrosine-like acid content of about 24%. Four indexes: FI, BIX, HIX, and β∶α, were calculated, and the mean values were 2.06, 0.87, 4.35 and 0.69, which showed relatively high FI, BIX, and β∶α values and a low HIX value, implying that the CDOM was autochthonous and originated from microbes and aquatic plants in the dry season. The spatial dynamic of the index revealed an increased BIX and decreased HIX from the upstream area to the downstream area, implying the impact of land-use and human activities. The forest soil input more humic acid and agriculture input more N and P resulting in flourishing aquatic plants and microbes. Moreover, the correlation coefficients of DIC and humic acid, tyrosine-like acid were 0.515 ( P <0.05) and 0.644 ( P <0.01), from which it could be inferred that DIC contributed to CDOM formation. The conclusions of this study revealed that DIC would be fixed by karst water aquatic plants and microbes and then sink as autochthonous CDOM and become part of karst water carbon sink.

Objective: To observe the effect of electro-elongated needle intervention on rehabilitation of upper limb motor function in patients with ischemic stroke., Methods: A total of 100 ischemic stroke patients were equally and randomly divided into manual acupuncture group and electro-elongated needle group (n=50 cases/group). For patients of the manual acupuncture group, filiform needles were respectively inserted into Jianyu (LI 15), Jiquan (HT 1), Shousanli (LI 10), Neiguan (PC 6) and Hegu (LI 4) on the affected side, manipulated with lifting-thrusting reinforcing or reducing method for 40 min, once daily for two weeks except the weekends, and for those of the electro-elongated needle group, elongated needles were repeatedly penetrated from LI 15 to Binao (LI 14), and from LI 10 to Waiguan (TE 5) on the affected side, followed by electrical stimulation for 40 min, once daily for two weeks except weekends. The therapeutic effect of manual acupuncture and electro-elongated needle for upper extremity rehabilitation was assessed according to the modified upper-extremity Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) and Wolf Motor Function Test (WMFT) separately. The surface electromyogram (sEMG) of the deltoid muscle was recorded by using a Megawin Surface Electrogram System and the root mean square (RMS) of the amplitude of sEMG was used to evaluate the functional state of the deltoid muscle., Results: After the treatment, the score of FMA and WMFT in both manual acupuncture and electro-elongated needle groups were significantly increased compared with pre-treatment in the same one group (P<0.01), suggesting an improvement of the motor function of the upper limbs, but RMS ratios of the amplitude of sEMG were evidently decreased in both groups (P<0.05, P<0.01), suggesting a relief of the abnormal muscular tension. The therapeutic effects of the electro-elongated needle were obviously superior to those of manual acupuncture in up-regulating FMA and WMFT scores and down-regulating RMS ratio (P<0.01)., Conclusion: Electro-elongated needle therapy can effectively improve the motor function of upper limb in ischemic stroke patients and has a better effect in comparison with simple manual acupuncture.

Lung cancer has a relatively short survival prognosis and advanced disease progression. Therefore, targeted therapy has become one of the most frequent treatments of this disease. Targeted therapy has several features that effectively extend the survival period; is easy to apply and use; and has fewer side effects than chemotherapy. Therefore, this therapy approach has become the preferred choice of patients with advanced lung cancer. However, current targeted therapies like Iressa and Tarceva produce side effects such as skin dryness and acneiform eruption that may bother patients. These side effects may further cause patient concern over negative changes in their body image, and these concerns may influence their work and social lives. Additionally, some patients treated with targeted therapy worry about their chances of survival if they reduce or stop the medication to avoid the side effects. Consequently, patients may struggle with both physical and psychological impacts, and may have problems sustaining a good quality of life. This article focuses on delivering relevant information to patients receiving targeted therapy who suffer from dermatological toxicity and damage to their body image. We demonstrate an assessment tool and information to help patients cope with physical and psychosocial issues through daily skin care routines, mental / psychological supports, and cognitive behavior therapy. These measures may help patients rebuild a positive self-concept. We plan to develop further associated training to provide professionals / care providers with the appropriate knowledge and skills to care for cancer patients in a resource-limited environment so that they may improve the quality of nursing care for patients with body image changes.

Objective: To investigate the expression of DNA mismatch repair (MMR) genes (MLH1, MSH2, MSH6 and PMS2) in endometrial adenocarcinoma (EC) of patients under 50 years and to explore the relationship between MMR expression and clinicopathological features including body mass index (BMI), histological grade and pathological stage of EC., Methods: MMR gene expression was investigated by immunohistochemical S-P method in endometrial adenocarcinomas of patients under age of 50. The control groups included complexity atypical hyperplasia endometrium (CAHE), simple hyperplasia endometrium (SHE), normal endometrium (NE) of patients under age of 50 and EC of patients older than 65 years., Results: Twenty seven of 40 EC (67.5%) lost at least one MMR protein expression. Loss of at least one MMR protein expression was seen in 5/15 cases of CAHE, 1/13 SHE and 1/11 NE, respectively (P < 0.01). The rates of loss of expression of MLH1, MSH2, MSH and PMS2 proteins in EC were 52.5%, 12.5%, 35.0%, and 30.0%, respectively. The difference between MLH1 and MSH6 expression among the four groups were significant (P < 0.05), but the expression of MSH2 showed no significant difference among the groups (P = 0.295). The expression of MMR protein had no relationship with histological grade and pathological stage, although loss of MSH6 was more frequently seen in patients of higher BMI., Conclusions: Abnormal expression of MMR proteins is correlated with the development of EC from complex atypical hyperplasia. With the exception of the correlation of MSH6 expression with higher BMI, the expression of MMR proteins in EC has no significant relationship with histological grade and pathological stage.

In order to further assess the feasibility of monitoring the chlorophyll fluorescence parameter Fv/Fm in compact corn by hyperspectral remote sensing data, in the present study, hyperspectral vegetation indices from in-situ remote sensing measurements were utilized to monitor the chlorophyll fluorescence parameter Fv/Fm measured in the compact corn experiment. The relationships were analyzed between hyperspectral vegetation indices and Fv/Fm, and the monitoring models were established for Fv/Fm in the whole growth stages of compact corn. The results indicated that Fv/Fm was significantly correlated to the hyperspectral vegetation indices. Among them, structure-sensitive pigment index (SIPI) was the most sensitive remote sensing variable for monitoring Fv/Fm with correlation coefficient (r) of 0.88. The monitoring model of Fv/Fm was established on the base of SIPI, and the determination coefficients (r2) and the root mean square errors (RMSE) were 0.8126 and 0.082 respectively. The overall results suggest that hyperspectral vegetation indices can be potential indicators to monitor Fv/Fm during growth stages of compact corn.

The present study aimed to study the changes of neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) expression of intrafusal muscle fibers in rat soleus muscles under simulated weightlessness. The tail-suspension (SUS) rat model was used to simulate weightlessness. Forty mature female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to ambulatory control (CON), 3-day SUS, 7-day SUS, 14-day SUS and 21-day SUS groups. Immunohistochemistry ABC staining method and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were used to detect the NT-3 expression of intrafusal muscle fibers in rat soleus muscles. The results from the immunohistochemistry staining technique showed that the extrafusal muscle fibers did not exhibit the NT-3-like immunoreactivity, and NT-3-like immunoreactivity was mainly expressed in nuclear bag 1 and nuclear bag 2 fibers of the muscle spindles. The ELISA results showed that the expression quantity of NT-3 in rat soleus muscles in control, 3-day SUS, 7-day SUS, 14-day SUS and 21-day SUS groups were (14.23±1.65), (14.11±1.53), (13.09±1.47), (12.45±1.51) and (9.85±1.52) pg/mg of tissue respectively. Compared to the control group, the expression quantity of NT-3 was significantly decreased after 14 days of SUS (P<0.05). After 21 days of SUS, the NT-3 expression was further reduced (P<0.01). These results suggest that simulated weightlessness induces an obvious decrease in the NT-3 expression level of intrafusal fibers in rat soleus muscles. Accompanying the simulated weightlessness extension, NT-3 expression in rat soleus muscle spindles is progressively decreased. These changes may contribute to the proprioceptive adaptations to microgravity.

This study was aimed to investigate the hemostatic effects of hemocoagulase agkistrodon (HCA) and its mechanism. The procoagulative and hemostatic effects of HCA were evaluated by using rabbit blood coagulatin time and mouse tail bleeding time; the mechanisms of HCA hemostatic effect were analyzed by using rabbit blood clot lysis and fibrinogen lysis. The results showed that HCA shortened the rabbit blood coagulation time and the mouse tail bleeding time significantly. The effects are nearly similar to that of positive control (reptilase). HCA also induced rabbit blood clot lysis and directly hydrolysed the alpha-chain of fibrinogen. It is concluded that HCA exert its hemostatic effects by hydrolysing the alpha-chain of fibrinogen, but it is not able to induce production of XIII factor.

Objective: To study the effect of triptergium wilfordii polyglycosidium on the content of Th1 and Th2 in the treatment child patients of rcurrent nephrotic syndrome., Method: Patients were randomized into treatment group and health group. Sixty-one patients in treatment group were treated with triptergium wilfordii polyglycosidium 1 mg x kg(-1) x d(-1) orally tid for 12 weeks. However, patients in health group was not treated with any drugs. Twelve weeks constituted one course of treatment and the content of IL-12, IL-2, TNF-alpha, IL-13, IL-6, IL-4 in peripheral blood was measured before and behind therapy., Result: In treatment group, the content of serum cytokines behind therapy was significantly lower than that before therapy, except for IL-12., Conclusion: Triptergium wilfordii polyglycosidium could reduce the cytokine level (except for IL-12) of Th1 and Th2, which could lead a therapeutic effect of in the child patients of RNS.

Objective: To explore the effect of Chinese materia medica on immune intervention of infantile recurrent respiratory tract infection., Method: Thirty-one children of recurrent respiratory tract infection were randomly divided into two groups: therapy group was treated with oral Chinese materia medica (b. i. d), control group was only treated with oral carboxymethyl liquor (< 4 years, 3 mL; 4-7 years, 5 mL; > 7 years, 7 mL, t. i. d). The change of IL-12,TNF-alpha, IL-6, IL-13, IL-6 and IL-4 in different time were observed and analyzes., Result: Compared with the control group, the level of IL-12 and IL-2 was significantly increased after treatment of oral Chinese materia medica (P < 0.01), however, the level of TNF-alpha, IL-13, IL-4, and IL-6 was decreased after treatment (P < 0.01). During one years follow-up study, the frequency of respiratory infection every year of therapy group was significantly decreased than that of control group., Conclusion: Chinese materia medica could prevent infantile recurrent respiratory tract infection effectively, increase humoral immunity function and ensure normal growth in children.

Cryptosporidiosis is an important apicomplexan disease with medical and veterinary significance. There is still no effective drug for its control. Mitochondrion is an organelle which contains most protein and enzyme in eukaryotes, so the mitochondrion of Cryptosporidium may be a potential target of drugs. Recent studies provided evidence for a mitochondrial derived compartment in this parasite. But the organelle has some difference to that of other apicomplexan parasites. This organelle appears to lack its genome, and thus must be entirely dependent on nuclear-encoded proteins. This article reviews the evidence for the organelle in Cryptosporidium and its probable function.

Aim: To study the release and cell uptake characteristics of 9-nitrocamptothecin (9-NC) nanostructured lipid carrier system (NLC) in vitro and its tissue distribution characteristics in vivo., Methods: Mouse peritoneal macrophages were used to investigate the uptake of nanoparticles by cells in vitro. The tissue distribution of 9-nitrocamptothecin solution and stealth nanostructured lipid carrier system (S-NLC) was determined after intravenous administration to mice at a single dose of 1.5 mg kg(-1). The release and crystalloid characteristics were also investigated., Results: X-ray diffraction spectrum showed that 9-NC probably was amorphous in S-NLC. The liquid lipid did not change the characteristics of the solid matrix in nanoparticles. The in vitro release and cell uptake characteristics of stealth and non-stealth 9-NC-NLC were investigated, separately. The results showed that the stealth 9-NC-NLC had sustained-release characteristics and could resist the absorption effect of the additional plasmas to a certain extent. In addition, the cell uptake percentage of stealth 9-NC-NLC was much lower than that of the non-stealth ones. The tissues distribution results showed that 9-NC in the S-NLC was mainly found in the lung, liver, pancreas and ovary/uterus, while the quantity of 9-NC was much lower in heart and kidney. The AUQ(0-t), of S-NLC in blood, ovary/uterus, pancreas, liver and lung were higher than that of 9-nitrocamptothecin solution. The weight-average drug targeting efficiency (Te*) of S-NLC in liver and lung were significantly higher than that of 9-nitrocamptothecin solution. The mean residence times (MRT) of S-NLC was 44 h, while that of 9-nitrocamptothecin solution was 8 h. Therefore, S-NLC showed obvious targeting effects on liver and lung., Conclusion: S-NLC with PEG flexible chains has sustained-release characteristics and can prolong its circulation in blood and have good targeting efficiency on liver and lung.

Objective: To study influence of 100 Hz sinusoidal vibration on muscle spindle afferents discharges of rat soleus muscles in simulated-weightlessness situation., Method: The tail-suspended rat model was used to simulate weightlessness, and 100 Hz sinusoidal vibration was performed by a vibrator. Unit activity was recorded electrophysiologically from the centrally cut filaments of the spinal dorsal roots innervating muscle spindles of the rat soleus muscle; then observation on the changes in afferent discharges from muscle spindle in a rat soleus muscles were made after 7 d., Result: 1) Compared with control muscle spindle afferents discharges of rat soleus muscles decreased after 7 d tail-suspension (P<0.05). 2) Compared with suspension the afferent discharges from soleus muscle spindles increased after 7 d tail-suspension with 100 Hz sinusoidal vibration., Conclusion: Sinusoidal vibration (100 Hz; 300 micrometers) can selectively activate muscle spindles. Muscle spindle afferent input of the suspended rats increased after the application of 7 d 100 Hz sinusoidal vibration.

Aim: To develop high bioavailability preparations without irritation for Panax notoginsenosides., Methods: The effects of some additives such as microcrystalline cellulose, beta-cyclodextrin and hydroxypropyl cellulose on drug in the preparations were examined., Results: Saponins of Panax notoginseng (PNS) was absorbed in rabbits more when administered intranasally than through other routines, and the formulations including MCC both gave high bioavailability and low irritation., Conclusion: Bioavailability of Panax notoginsenosides can be increased through changing routine of administration and formulations.
