Due to the wide band gap of pure anatase TiO2, most of the visible light was not be absorbed. The density of states and optical properties of P and Bi doped anatase TiO2, were calculated by using the first principles based on density functional theory. The results show that the band gap of pure anatase TiO2, is 3.22 eV. Whether P or Bi is doped or co-doped, the band gap of anatase TiO2, can be reduced. The band gap of co-doping TiO2, decreases to 1.83 eV, which greatly improves the absorption in the visible light region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
