Objective: To explore the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of cases with newly diagnosed echinococcosis in Sichuan Province from 2007 to 2017, so as to provide reference for the formulation of echinococcosis prevention and control strategies and for the identification of key areas., Methods: The spatial distribution maps of detection of cases with newly diagnosed echinococcosis were plotted in Sichuan Province from 2007 to 2017, and the spatial distribution characteristics and epidemic trends were analyzed., Results: From 2007 to 2017, the detection rate of cases with newly diagnosed echinococcosis appeared a decline in Sichuan Province year by year, and the areas with a high detection rate of cases with newly diagnosed echinococcosis were mainly located in western, northwestern and northern parts of Sichuan Province, while the areas with a low detection rate were predominantly found in the southern and eastern parts of the province. The global Moran's I values were 0.19, 0.22, 0.17, 0.44, 0.48, 0.31 and 0.16 for the detection rate of cases with newly diagnosed echinococcosis in Sichuan Province from 2010 to 2016 (all Z scores > 1.96, all P values < 0.05), suggesting spatial aggregation distribution during this period. Local spatial autocorrelation analysis revealed that the"high-high"areas and"low-low"areas for the detection rate of cases with newly diagnosed echinococcosis all showed an aggregation tendency., Conclusions: The detection rate of cases with newly diagnosed echinococcosis decreases in Sichuan Province from 2007 to 2017 year by year, and shows a spatial aggregation. The echinococcosis control activities should be intensified in Shiqu, Seda, Dege, Ganzi and Baiyu counties.

Objective: To design and construct a patient-doctor interaction system for echinococcosis treatment., Methods: The in-depth interview and brainstorming method were used to determine the main functional modules of the system based on the server/client model., Results: An echinococcosis patient-doctor interaction system was successfully constructed in Sichuan Province and got through preliminary debugging. The system contained four functions, namely quick consultation, treatment supervision, health education, and other auxiliary functions., Conclusions: The patient-doctor interaction system of echinococcosis treatment is hopeful to enhance the management effectiveness on echinococcosis patients, and to provide more convenient and quick medical consultation and health information for patients.

Objective: To investigate the mechanism of Toll-like receptor in intestinal mucosal injury induced by Cryptosporidium parvum infection in mice., Methods: Totally 30 male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into a normal control group, 1week infection group and 2-week infection group. The mice of the 1-week and 2-week infection groups were sacrificed 7 days and 14 days after the infection respectively, and the mice of the normal control group were sacrificed 14 days after the infection. The model of intestinal infection of C. parvum in mice was built by using the immunosuppressive method and oocyst intragastric administration. The pathological changes of the intestinal mucosa of mice were observed with a light microscope and the villus height, crypt depth and ratio of villus height/crypt depth were measured. The ultrastructure of the intestinal mucosa of mice was observed by a transmission electron microscope (TEM). The expressions of TLR2 and TLR4 in the intestinal mucosa were tested by qPCR and Western blotting., Results: Under the light microscope, the intestinal villi were dropsical, obviously atrophied and shortened, and the submucosal structure was dropsical. The height of chorionic villi and the ratio of villus height to crypt depth in the jejunum of the 1-week and 2-week infection groups were significantly lower than those in the normal control group (all P < 0.05), while the depth of the recess of the former two was significantly increased (all P < 0.05). With the extension of the infection time, the villus height and the ratio of villus height to crypt depth in the jejunum of mice decreased significantly (both P < 0.05), and the crypt depth increased significantly ( P < 0.01). The TEM observation showed that the structure of the oocyst of C. parvum in the jejunum of the infected mouse was intact, the villi around the oocyst were abscission seriously, and the oocyst wall was fused with the epithelial cell membrane. The qPCR observation showed that compared with the normal control group, the expressions of TLR2 mRNA and TLR4 mRNA in the intestinal mucosa of the 1-week and 2-week infection groups were significantly higher (all P < 0.05). In addition, the expressions of TLR2 and TLR4 mRNA in the 2-week infection group were significantly higher than those in the 1-week infection group (both P < 0.05). The Western blotting showed that the expressions of TLR2 protein and TLR4 protein in the intestinal mucosa of the 1-week and 2-week infection groups were significantly higher than those of the normal control group (all P < 0.05). Furthermore, the expressions of TLR2 and TLR4 protein in the 2week infection group were significantly higher than those in the 1-week infection group (both P < 0.05)., Conclusions: TLR2 and TLR4 are important receptors for intestinal mucosal recognition of C. parvum . The C. parvum infection may lead to intestinal mucosal damage possibly via the mechanisms associated with the up-regulation of TLR2 and TLR4 expressions.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the quality of life (QOL) of patients who underwent resection of oral cancer and reconstruction by free anierolateral thigh perforator flaps (ALTF)., Methods: A total of 32 patients with oral and maxillofacial malignancies who had undergone the resection of oral cancer and reconstruction by ALTF were retrospectively analyzed. At 12 months postoperatively, the QOL of these patients was assessed by using the 14-item oral health impact profile (OHIP-14) and the medical outcome study short form-36 (SF-36) questionnaires., Results: A total of 32 questionnaires were collected. In SF-36, the highest scoring domains were bodily pain (78.58 ± 14.82), physical functioning (72.08 ± 27.86), and the role of physical (60.00 ± 42.63), whereas the lowest scoring domains were role-emotional (41.67 ± 39.62), followed by mental health (50.75 ± 13.07) and health transition (54.17 ± 21.75). In OHIP-14, the lowest scoring domains were social disability (34.50 ± 11.32) and handicap (36.04 ± 12.05), indicating the functional recovery was better; and the highest scoring domains were physical pain (73.50 ± 18.96) and psychological discomfort (60.17 ± 20.66), indicating the functional recovery was worse., Conclusion: The ALTF is an ideal selection for the reconstruction of oral defects after cancer resection. In using this flap, the basic social need of patients after surgery can be satisfied. Moreover, the appearance and the functions of chewing, deglutition, and speech can be restored in varying degrees. Thus, ALTF can improve the patients' QOL.

Objective: To examine the relationship between complementary feeding behaviors (CFB) and anemia for infants and young children in Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou province of China., Methods: A total 3 410 children aged 6-24 months were recruited from 12 survey sites in the urban and rural areas of Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou provinces by stratified random cluster sampling in 3 age groups (6-8 months, 9-11 months and 12-24 months) from March to July in 2011. The information of CFB for them was collected through a specific questionnaire. According to the comprehensive evaluation method of CFB(including content of food preparation and selection, caregivers' behavior, infants' behavior, feeding environment and environmental hygiene), the scores of CFB were calculated and grouped as low ( < 60% of total score), moderate (60%-80% of total score) and high level ( > 80% of total score). Twenty microliter of fingertip blood was extracted to measure the hemoglobin concentration and anemia rate was calculated. Distribution of CFB level and rate of anemia were compared between urban/rural areas and different age groups. Difference of anemia rate for infants and young children between low/moderate/high CFB level groups was compared., Results: 8.0% (273/3 410) of the children were in low CFB level group, and 56.9% (1 940/3 410) and 35.1% (1 197/3 410) in moderate and high CFB level group respectively. The difference of CFB levels between urban and rural areas was significant (Z = -21.17, P < 0.05), the proportion of high level in urban area was 53.0% (829/1 565) , which was higher than that in rural area (20.0% (368/1845) ). The difference of CFB levels between different age groups was also significant (H = 43.82, P < 0.05). The proportion of high level decreased by increasing age, which was 41.0% (417/1 017) and 29.9% (389/1 300) in 6-8 months and 12-24 months respectively. The average hemoglobin concentration for infants was (119.3 ± 13.8)g/L, and the total anemia rate was 22.4% (765/3 410) . The hemoglobin concentration for infants in urban area ( (123.3 ± 11.3) g/L) was higher than rural area ((115.9 ± 14.8) g/L) (t = 16.75, P < 0.05) and the rate of anemia in urban area (10.5% (165/1 565)) was lower than that in rural area (32.5% (600/1845) ) (χ² = 235.03, P < 0.05) significantly. The rate of anemia was decreased by increasing CFB level(χ² = 73.94, P < 0.05). The rate of anemia in the low CFB level group was the highest (33.7% (92/273) ) while in the high CFB level group was 14.5% (174/1 197), which was the lowest., Conclusion: The level of complementary feeding behavior for infants and young children in Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou province of China is relatively low and their prevalence of anemia is relatively serious. Complementary feeding behavior is closely associated with anemia for infants and young children.

Objective: To study the association between complementary feeding frequency (CFF) and growth of infants and young children., Methods: 3644 infants and young children aged 6 - 24 months from Chengdu, Kunming and Guiyang were selected by stratified random cluster sampling. Data on breastfeeding and formula feeding and complementary feeding for children were collected through the questionnaires. Complementary feeding frequency was assessed using a comprehensive evaluation system. Body weight and length for them were measured. Length for age Z-score (LAZ), weight for age Z-score (WAZ) and weight for length Z-score (WLZ) were calculated. The Spearman rank correlation analysis was used to identify the association between complementary feeding frequency and growth of children. The trend Chi-Square test was used to identify the relationship between complementary feeding frequency and the rate of stunted growth., Results: This study indicated that CFF level was significantly positive associated with WLZ and WAZ in the group of breastfeeding and formula feeding less than three times per day in urban and rural groups, correlation coefficients were 0.10 and 0.11 in urban group and 0.20 and 0.14 in rural group respectively (P < 0.05). Prevalence of wasting reduced with CFF level increasing in rural group. The Z-score did not show significant correlation with CFF level in the group of breastfeeding and formula feeding more than or equal to three times per day in urban and rural groups., Conclusion: Complementary feeding frequency is related to growth of infants and young children, especially in rural area of southwest China. The rate of wasting could be controlled by improving complementary feeding frequency of infants and young children.

Objective: To evaluate the situation of pre-pregnancy weight and gestational weight gain (GWG) of women in the urban and rural areas of southwest of China., Methods: Total 3391 women whose infants and young children aged 6 - 24 months were selected from urban and rural areas of Kunming, Guiyang and Chengdu cities by stratified cluster random sampling. Data of pre-pregnancy height and weight, prenatal weight and pregnancy age for subjects was obtained using a questionnaire. Pre-pregnancy BMI and GWG were calculated. According to the BMI standard for adults from WHO and GWG Guidelines from IOM (2009), the status of pre-pregnancy weight and GWG were assessed., Results: Average BMI of pre-pregnancy for them is (20.3 +/- 2.4). Percentage of normal weight, underweight, and overweight/obesity of pre-pregnancy were 72.7%, 24.1% and 3.2% respectively. The average GWG was (14.9 +/- 6.0) kg, and there was a significant difference between urban and rural group (P < 0.05). Percentage of normal, insufficient and excessive GWG were 35.3%, 31.1% and 33.3% respectively. The rate of excessive GWG in urban group was higher than rural group (P < 0.05), but the rate of insufficient GWG was lower (P < 0.05). The rate of insufficient GWG was higher in women aged below 23 years old (P < 0.05), and the rate of excessive GWG was higher in women aged 24 - 34 years old (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: It should be pay more attention to improve the underweight of pre-pregnancy and abnormal GWG among women in the southwest of China.

Objective: To detect changes of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) with gender, age and levels of thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPO-Ab) in patients with subclinical hypothyroidism, and to establish composite reference intervals for TSH and free thyroxine (FT4) in determination of subclinical hypothyroidism., Methods: From Oct. 2011 to July 2012, 7 964 healthy people (males: 4 789, females: 3 175) undergoing medical examinations were recruited. Their serum levels of TSH and FT4 were determined. Of those participants, 794 were also tested for TPO-Ab. The serum TSH and FT4 data were transformed into normal distributions, with outliers being eliminated and a correction for skewness (0. 909 and 0. 384, respectively) and kurtosis (2.605 and 1.947, respectively). The composite reference intervals were established according to the Mahalonobis distance formula., Results: Serum TSH increased with age and TPO-Ab. Using the conventional reference standards, 358 participants were identified with subclinical hypothyroidism, which included 230 at 41-70 years of age and 43 showing TPO-Ab positive. In contrast, using composite reference intervals, 301 participants were identified with subclinical hypothyroidism, which included 142 at 41-70 years of age and 25 showing TPO-Ab., Conclusion: The conventional cutoff values for FT4 and TSH separately lead to overestimation of the prevalence of subclinical thyroid disease.

Objective: To evaluate the status of complementary feeding frequency (CFF) for infants and young children in southwestern China., Methods: A total of 3644 infants and young children aged 6 - 24 months from urban and rural areas of Chengdu, Kunming and Guiyang were selected by stratified random cluster sampling from March to June in 2011. Data of CFF in the recent one month were collected through the questionnaires, and assessed quantitatively by a new comprehensive evaluation system. Level and distribution characteristics of CFF for infants and young children among different month groups in urban and rural areas were analyzed., Results: Average CFF score was 8.1 ± 3.1, and the score for all was 54.1% of total score (15 points). The average score of urban and rural groups was 8.9 ± 3.0 (59.3% of total score) and 7.4 ± 3.0 (49.1% of total score) respectively (t = 15.60, P < 0.05). Ratio of ≥ 80.0% of total CFF score was 12.2% (443/3644) for all. The rate of urban and rural group was 18.0% (324/1796) and 6.4% (119/1848) respectively (χ(2) = 136.64, P < 0.05). Average CFF score in 6 - 8, 9 - 11 and 12 - 24 months groups was 7.0 ± 2.9 (46.4% of total score), 8.1 ± 3.0 (54.1% of total score) and 9.0 ± 3.0 (60.1% of total score) respectively (F = 148.27, P < 0.05). The CFF score increased with months growing., Conclusion: Status of CFF for infants and young children in southwestern China is generally inadequate, with differences between urban and rural groups. This problem is more serious in early month infants and rural areas and should be emphasized and improved.

A method for the determination of trans fatty acids C18:1, C18:2 and C18:3 in milk fat was developed by silver ion solid phase extraction-gas chromatography (Ag+ -SPE/GC). The fatty acid methyl esters derived from total milk fat were loaded onto an Ag+ -SPE cartridge, and then eluted with 9 mL of toluene-hexane (5:95, v/v), 8 mL of toluene-hexane (17:83, v/v), 6 mL of toluene-ethyl acetate (17:83, v/v) and 10 mL of toluene-ethyl acetate (30:70, v/v) in sequence. The fraction from each step was analyzed by GC. The average recoveries of trans fatty acids ranged from 88.4% to 107.2% with the relative standard deviations (RSDs) from 1.2% to 11.9% except trans linolenic acid with the recoveries from 69.9% to 101.0% and the RSDs from 11.0% to 18.1%. Comparing with the traditional methods, the developed approach can avoid the interference of cis and saturated fatty acids. The method was successfully applied to analyze dairy products. Satisfactory results were shown.

Background & Objective: The potential molecular mechanisms of the antitumor role of Ras association domain family 1 A (RASSF1A) has not been well understood. This study was to explore the molecular mechanisms of proliferation-suppressing ability of wild type RASSF1A in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) QGY-7703 cells., Methods: Vectors containing wild type or mutant RASSF1A were transfected into QGY-7703 cells. Cell cycle was determined by flow cytometry (FCM). Western blot was used to examine the protein levels of Cyclin D1, Cyclin E and P21. Luciferase activity assay was performed to study the effect of wild type RASSFIA expression on cyclin D1 promoter activity in QGY-7703 cells. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was performed to detect the mRNA level of cyclin D1., Results: Wild type RASSF1A expression resulted in G1/S arrest in QGY-7703 cells, decreased the protein level of Cyclin D1, but had no effect on the protein levels of Cyclin E and P21, the promoter activity and mRNA level of cyclin D1. The exogenous expression of cyclin D1 rescued the G1 phase arrest induced by wild type RASSF1A., Conclusion: Wild type RASSF1A expression could induce G1 phase arrest in QGY-7703 cells, which is accompanied by a down-regulation of Cyclin D1 protein expression through a post-transcriptional mechanism.

An ideal spectrum signal prototype is constructed in this paper based on the infrared ray spectrum of octane levelmeasurement to evaluate the performances of wavelet based threshold denoising approaches via different combinations of mother wavelet functions and thresholds. A performance index eta is defined to assess the signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) of denoising results, inconsideration of the trade-off between the SNR and the distortion of the original signal after wavelet denoising. Three families of mother wavelets (Symlets, Daubechies and Coiflet), four threshold selection rules (Rigrsure, Sqtwolog, Heursure and Manimaxi), and three threshold rescaling methods (One, Sln and Mln) are tested in a series of experiments to estimate the functioning of those wavelets and thresholding parameters. Experimental results show that in the cases investigated in this paper, the best denoising performance is reached via the combinations of Daubechies9 or Symlet7, 11, 14, 15 wavelets, "Rigrsure" threshold selection rule, and "Sln" threshold rescaling method.

A comparison between a submerged membrane bioreactor (MBR) and a conventional activated sludge process (CAS) was carried out under similar operational conditions. MBR demonstrated a more stable and excellent effluent quality than CAS. Its effluent COD concentration was 55.5 mg/L on average, much lower than that of CAS (79.7 mg/L). Soluble microbial products accumulated in the MBR during the first 120 days in operation due to membrane interception of macromolecules, but these accumulated substances were degraded at last with microbial acclimation. No similar phenomenon was observed in the CAS system. Compositions of the CAS effluent, MBR supernatant and membrane permeate were found quite different. In the CAS effluent and MBR supernatant, both macromolecules with MW > 60,000 and small molecules with MW < 3,000 were dominant and macromolecules had a much larger occupation in the MBR supernatant. In the membrane permeate, however, small molecules with MW < 3,000 were the major component. The relatively small floc size in the MBR was proved favorable to improve oxygen transfer rate.

This experiment was designed to investigate whether chronic hypoxia could reduce pulmonary artery relaxation induced by acetylcholine and sodium nitroprusside (endothelium-dependent and endothelium-independent vasodilator, respectively). Male Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups: control, kept in air; CH4, in hypobaric chamber (8000 m above sea level) for 4 days; CH20, in hypobaric chamber (5000 m above sea level) for 20 days. All the hypoxic rats developed pulmonary hypertension. Rings of extra- (EPPA) or intra- (IPPA) pulmonary artery were suspended in an organ bath containing oxygenated Kreb's solution at 37 degrees C for relaxation/inhibition studies. The results showed that chronic hypoxia, CH4 and CH20, inhibited the relaxation response of both IPPA and EPPA to both acetylcholine and sodium nitroprusside. It is suggested that chronic hypoxia might attenuate the sensitivity and reactivity of the pulmonary artery to both acetylcholine and sodium nitroprusside through the inhibition of guanyl cyclase activity in smooth muscle.
