Objective: To explore risk factors for infections after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, and improve the under standing for reducing infection., Methods: Clinical data of 2 591 patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair from January 2019 to January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed, including 1 265 males and 1 326 females, aged from 25 to 82 years old with an average age of (51.5±15.6) years old. They were divided into infection group( n =18) and uninfected group( n =2 573) according to whether or not patients had postoperative infection. Gender, age, smoking, diabetes, body mass index, local closure within 1 month before operation, operation time, preventive use of antibiotics, and internal fixation implantation between two groups were recorded. Univariate Logistic regression analysis screened factors associated with infections after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Theresultswere entered into the multivariate logistic regression analysis, screening the high risk factors for infections after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair., Results: In 2 591 patients, 18 patients were infected after operation, infection rate was 0.69%. Univariate Logistic regression analysis showed that gender, age, operation time, antibiotic prophylaxis, internal fixation implantation were risk factors for infections after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed male( OR =14.227), age≥65 years( OR =34.313), operation time≥2 h ( OR =15.616), without antibiotic prophylaxis( OR =4.891), and internal fixation implantation( OR =5.103) were major risk factors for infection after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair( P <0.05)., Conclusion: Male, age≥65 years, operation time≥2 h, without antibiotic prophylaxis and internal fixation implantation were independent risk factors for infection after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Early diagnosis and timely treatment should be carried out to reduce the incidence of infection.

Objective: Surgical site infection (SSI) can markedly prolong postoperative hospital stay, aggravate the burden on patients and society, even endanger the life of patients. This study aims to investigate the national incidence of SSI following abdominal surgery and to analyze the related risk factors in order to provide reference for the control and prevention of SSI following abdominal surgery. Methods: A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted. Clinical data of all the adult patients undergoing abdominal surgery in 68 hospitals across the country from June 1 to 30, 2020 were collected, including demographic characteristics, clinical parameters during the perioperative period, and the results of microbial culture of infected incisions. The primary outcome was the incidence of SSI within postoperative 30 days, and the secondary outcomes were ICU stay, postoperative hospital stay, cost of hospitalization and the mortality within postoperative 30-day. Multivariable logistic regression was used to analyze risk factors of SSI after abdominal surgery. Results: A total of 5560 patients undergoing abdominal surgery were included, and 163 cases (2.9%) developed SSI after surgery, including 98 cases (60.1%) with organ/space infections, 19 cases (11.7%) with deep incisional infections, and 46 cases (28.2%) with superficial incisional infections. The results from microbial culture showed that Escherichia coli was the main pathogen of SSI. Multivariate analysis revealed hypertension (OR=1.792, 95% CI: 1.194-2.687, P =0.005), small intestine as surgical site (OR=6.911, 95% CI: 1.846-25.878, P =0.004), surgical duration (OR=1.002, 95% CI: 1.001-1.003, P <0.001), and surgical incision grade (contaminated incision: OR=3.212, 95% CI: 1.495-6.903, P =0.003; Infection incision: OR=11.562, 95%CI: 3.777-35.391, P <0.001) were risk factors for SSI, while laparoscopic or robotic surgery (OR=0.564, 95%CI: 0.376-0.846, P =0.006) and increased preoperative albumin level (OR=0.920, 95%CI: 0.888-0.952, P <0.001) were protective factors for SSI. In addition, as compared to non-SSI patients, the SSI patients had significantly higher rate of ICU stay [26.4% (43/163) vs. 9.5% (514/5397), χ(2)=54.999, P <0.001] and mortality within postoperative 30-day [1.84% (3/163) vs.0.01% (5/5397), χ(2)=33.642, P <0.001], longer ICU stay (median: 0 vs. 0, U =518 414, P <0.001), postoperative hospital stay (median: 17 days vs. 7 days, U =656 386, P <0.001), and total duration of hospitalization (median: 25 days vs. 12 days, U =648 129, P <0.001), and higher hospitalization costs (median: 71 000 yuan vs. 39 000 yuan, U =557 966, P <0.001). Conclusions: The incidence of SSI after abdominal surgery is 2.9%. In order to reduce the incidence of postoperative SSI, hypoproteinemia should be corrected before surgery, laparoscopic or robotic surgery should be selected when feasible, and the operating time should be minimized. More attentions should be paid and nursing should be strengthened for those patients with hypertension, small bowel surgery and seriously contaminated incision during the perioperative period.

Objective: To explore clinic characteristics of proximal anterior cerebral artery aneurysms and analyzed operative techniques., Methods: A review was performed of a total of 362 patients whose aneurysms were surgically treated from June 1995 to December 2003, the morbidity of A(1) aneurysms was 2.2%. To reviewed clinical data of 8 proximal anterior cerebral artery aneurysms patients., Results: All of the aneurysms developed at the takeoff point of perforating arteries, the recurrent artery of Heubner in three cases, the medial proximal lenticulostriate artery in five cases. Six cases aneurysms projected posteriorly, two cases projected inferiorly in the surgical field. The shape of the aneurysms was saccular in all cases and diameter no larger than 5 mm in six cases. Patients were clipped satisfactorily, excellent condition in 7 patient, good condition in one., Conclusion: It is important to preserve the perforating arteries and use suitable clip by avoiding cerebral ischemia.

Objective: To explore surgical treatment of gliomas involving the supplementary motor area (SMA) in the superior frontal gyrus., Methods: Clinical data and follow-up outcome of 16 patients with low graded astrocytomas involving the supplementary motor area were analyzed., Results: SMA syndrome was developed in 6 patients in whom the posterior tumor resection line was at a distance of more than 1 cm from the precentral sulcus and resolved after 12 months. Hemiplegia occurred however in 8 patients in whom the resection line was less than 1 cm to precentral sulcus and only resolved in 3 patients during follow period 12 months., Conclusions: When the resection is performed at a distance of less than 1 cm from the precentral sulcus, surgery for gliomas of involving the supplementary motor area in the superior frontal gyrus may be result in permanent morbidity.

Biological hydrogen production is a process of applying anaerobic biological fermentation method to produce hydrogen from organic wastes. Hydrogen production potential of different microbiological source and organic wastes, as well as the composition of fermentation product in liquid phase, were studied in the batch culture experiments. Magnifying experiment of biohydrogen production was carried out in 30 L improvement UASB reactor using anaerobic fermentation of artificial wastewater containing starch by activated sludge process. The experiment confirm that hydrogen and carbon dioxide percentage of biogas were 40%-51% and 49%-60% under the condition of hydrogen production process (pH was 4.5-5.5 sludge VSS was 10 g/L; starch-COD was 5000 mg/L), and no methane was observed. Hydrogen purity was more than 97% by an absorption of sodium hydrate solution, continuous hydrogen production was more than 120 days.
