Reducing spatter, i.e., melt droplets flown out of the melt pool, is one of the critical issues when laser cutting is employed as a machining tool for radioactive wastes because the ejected droplets can lead to radioactive contamination with potential human exposure. The spattering phenomena are complicated processes that involve multiple physical phenomena, causing difficulty in the determination of laser parameters to minimize the amount of spatter. Here we observe the spatter ejected from 316L stainless steel plates using a high-speed camera and apply a machine learning technique to these captured images on the basis of three distinctive behaviors appeared at specific time intervals of the process of spattering phenomena: (I) a vapor, (II) a liquid film and breakup into droplets, and (III) a liquid capillary. The numerical model established through the machine learning technique predicts the spattering phenomena with an accuracy of 89% and can be used to determine the laser power and beam diameter that reduce the spatter eruption during laser irradiation. Aiming at the global path optimization of laser cutting processing, the traditional ant colony system algorithm has a slow convergence rate and easy to fall into local optimum, the improved ant colony system algorithm was studied. Using starting point and end point information of the laser processing entity, the mathematical model of the equivalent TSP problem of the entity was established. An improved algorithm for re-optimizing the path planning results of ant colony system algorithm by nearest neighbor insertion algorithm was proposed, the implementation steps of the improved ant colony system algorithm was described in detail, the iteration times and optimization results of the traditional ant colony system algorithm and the improved ant colony system algorithm were analyzed. The results indicate that the improved ant colony system algorithm accelerates the convergence speed, reduces the number of iterations by about 30%, shortens the total length of the path taken by the laser processing, and successfully applied to the self-developed laser cutting processing system. Laser cutting technology is widely used in manufacturing industry. But the laser absorptivity of the aircraft skin material is low,and the laser cutting quality is poor,so laser cutting is not applied in manufacturing of the aircraft skin. In order to searching laser cutting performance of the aircraft skin and the change of its mechanical properties by laser cutting,the surface topography analying,micro-hardness testing and tension,compression and shear test were carried used laser cutting test sample.The test result show that the test sample emerged freeze slag after laser cuting,and its tensile strength decreased slightly,but compression strength shear strength retained original level. So laser cutting technology can be used in edge manufacturing of the aircraft skin by improving the laser cutting process and rising the laser cutting quality.

In order to study the influence of technological parameters of laser power on the quality of starting notch of connecting rod, the starting notch of Jetta car connecting rod was processed by YAG solid laser. Through changing the technological parameters, such as power, cutting speed, pulse width, frequency and incident angle, their influences on the quality of starting notch was studied. The results show that high power density and low cutting speed are helpful to quality improvement of starting notch. The increase of repeat frequency will lead to the increase of width of starting notch. When repeat frequency is increased from 26 Hz to 36 Hz, the width of starting notch will be increased by 0.05 mm. Good quality of starting notch will be obtained when the incident angle is from 15 to 30 degree. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
