A superhydrophobic coating with good durability and self-healing ability was rapidly prepared on the surface of polyester fabric by polymerizing and crosslinking with atmospheric pressure pulsed cascade discharge (APPCD) plasma. The dependence of hydrophobicity, durability and stability of coating surface on different plasma sources were investigated in detail. The results show that the static water contact angle of the superhydrophobic coating prepared by APPCD plasma is up to 163.2°, and the dynamic water sliding angle is as low as 8.4°. The superhydrophobic properties of the coating can be maintained after 600 times of friction or 250 times of washing. It shows that the change of elasticity modulus on the coating surface is the main reason affecting the mechanical fastness of the coating. The prepared superhydrophobic coating has good repairability. The broken fabric by friction can be restored by heating. This study can provide experimental basis and technical support for the industrial promotion of superhydrophobic coatings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
