Objective: The yam powder was applicated and added in xylitol chiffon cake to investigate its effects on the quality of cake. Methods: In the process of preparing xylitol yam chiffon cake,the specific volume, relative density of batter, moisture content, color and texture of cake were taken as the investigation indexes to study the effects of different proportions of yam powder （10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%） on thequality of cake. Results: The specific volume of cake decreased, whereas the relative density and moisture content of batter increased with the increasing amount of yam powder. On the other hand, the hardness, the chewability and the adhesion of cake increased first and then decreased, while the elasticity, the resilience and the cohesion decreased first and then increased. Meanwhile, the color difference measurement results showed that L* value （brightness） and b* （yellow） decreased, a* （red） first increased and then decreased, and △E （total color） difference increased. Conclusion: According to the comprehensive texture properties and sensory evaluation, the optimum dosage of yam powderwas 10%.

Numerical simulation of turbulent combustion is a key tool for aeroengine design.Due to the need of high-precision model to Navier-Stokes equation,numerical simulation of turbulent combustion requires huge amount of calculations,and the phy-sicochemical models causes the flow field to be extremely complicated,making the load balancing a bottleneck for large-scale pa-rallelization.We port and optimize the numerical simulation method of turbulent combustion on a powerful computing server,DGX-2.We design the threading method of flux calculation and use Roofline model to guide the optimization.In addition,we design an efficient communication method and propose a multi-GPU parallel method for turbulent combustion based on high-speed interconnection of DGX-2.The results show that the performance of a single V100 GPU is 8.1x higher than that on dual-socket Intel Xeon 6248 CPU node with 40 cores.And the multi-GPU version on DGX-2 with 16 V100 GPUs achieves 66.1x speedup,which is higher than the best performance on CPU cluster.

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, visitation restrictions in line with infection control policies curtailed opportunities for family members to learn essential caregiving skills in the intensive care unit. This limitation decreased satisfaction among family members, possibly indicating their increased difficulties in care due to the lack of face-to-face guidance. Thus, increasing family member understanding of and ability to apply learning content without direct interaction presents a significant and urgent challenge. Moreover, because of lack of caregiving confidence, some family members may be reluctant to facilitate the discharge of critically ill patients, causing delays in discharge planning. These challenges underscore the obstacles faced by nursing health education during the pandemic. Purpose: This study was designed to utilize cloud technology to enhance the knowledge and skills of families caring for infants with congenital heart disease at home and to assess their satisfaction with the associated homecare learning platform. Resolution: Based on our hospital's cloud-based health education platform, a series of personalized instructional video materials was developed for families of infants with congenital heart disease. These materials cover comprehensively the entire treatment process, from diagnosis to post-discharge home care skills, for these patients. To facilitate autonomous learning, the videos in this series were made accessible to the families anytime, anywhere via personal devices such as smartphones and tablets. Concurrently, a chatbot tool was integrated to provide guidance on inpatient care for infants with congenital heart disease, including fundamental aspects of newborn care, with the aim of equipping parents and caregivers with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide basic post-discharge care. To ensure the families acquired personalized care skills, after completing the learning modules, practical bedside training sessions incorporating knowledge and skills assessments were organized for family members. Results: After project implementation, the average knowledge score for family members increased significantly from 79.1 to 100 (perfect score). The proportion of family members proficient in executing caregiving techniques autonomously also rose impressively from 30% to 95%. Furthermore, average overall satisfaction with cloud-based technology-assisted caregiving learning among the family members rose 31.4% from 3.5 to 4.6. Conclusion: This project represents a viable solution to providing clinical nursing guidance independent of the constraints of time and location, and effectively enhances homecare-skill-related learning outcomes in family members, especially with regard to caring for infants with congenital heart disease. Teacher-led classical instruction lacks interactions feedbacks and thus leads to a low learning efficiency. Serving as advanced educational concept and method, outcome-based education (OBE) and BOPPPS mode gradually become the leading concept in the remodeling of basic medical education. In order to improve the quality of microbial genetics teaching, this article aims to summarize the methods and experience of applying BOPPPS mode to microbial genetics directed by OBE, which hopefully stimulates medical students' interests of initiative learning and active exploration, cultivates students' ability of raising and resolving questions, develops the awareness of cooperative learning, and finally achieves the goal of improved classroom learning.

Diamond-like carbon(DLC) films had many unique and outstanding properties such as high thermal conductivity, high hardness, excellent chemical inertness, low friction coefficients and wear coefficients. The properties and combinations were very promising for heat sink, micro-electromechanical devices, radiation hardening, biomedical devices, automotive industry and other technical applications, more research and a lot of attention were attracted in recent years. The research progress of diamond-like films and the nucleation mechanism of film were summarized, and application prospect of DLC films were demonstrated. The aim of this paper is to provide insights on the research trend of DLC films and the industry applications.

In order to understand the quality changes of different varieties of peeled fresh walnut during frozen storage, and provide reference and technical support for fresh walnut storage and preservation, five varieties of walnuts (' Qingxiang', 'Xiangling', 'Yuanlin', 'Liaohe No.7', 'Jinlong No.2') were used as test materials, and the effects of frozen storage (-6 °C) on sensory quality, rancidity quality of oil and antioxidant activity of different varieties of fresh walnuts were investigated. The results showed that frozen storage at -6 °C could be applied to different varieties of fresh peeled walnuts, after 8 months of frozen storage, the moldy index of five varieties of fresh peeled walnuts was below 0.1, and the kernel flavor score was all above 70, the rise of kernel acid value, peroxide value and saponification value could be effectively inhibited, the decline of iodine value, total phenol, total flavonoids and vitamin E contents were slowed down, and kernel quality was maintained better, and the order of differenct varieties of walnut kernel quality from high to low was: 'Qingxiang' >'Xiangling' > 'Yuanlin' > 'Liaohe No.7' > 'Jinlong No.2'. Pulse-induced contour cardiac output (PiCCO) is one of the hemodynamic monitoring systems. However, 69.2% of the nursing staff had knowledge about recognizing the equipment, 77.8% operated it correctly, 80.9% can complete the preparation of materials, and 3.86 min is the average preparation time. These may be caused by the lack of training courses in the recent five years and the lack of practical experience in the dispersion of the appliance. Moreover, the knowledge rate improved to 88.6%, the operating ability increased to 99.1%, the preparation of materials increased to 100%, and the average preparation time decreased to 45 sec after providing a complete PiCCO package, designing a teaching aid, holding in-service education program, and promoting digital teaching materials. One component silane modified polyether (MS) sealant for prefabricated construction was prepared with plasticizer, diluent, thixotropic agent, reinforcing agent, silane coupling agent, water removing agent and catalyst. The effects of the basic polymer and plasticizer, the contents of diluent and the types of silane coupling agent on the properties of MS sealant, especially on its elastic recovery, were studied. The results show that the tensile strength, elongation at break, elastic recovery rate and Shore A hardness of MS sealant prepared with MS polymer (STP, by Wacker system) is better than that of MS polymer (by Kaneka system), with a longer surface drying time. The tensile strength, elongation at break and elastic recovery rate of MS sealant prepared with polyether polyol as plasticizer are higher than those of MS sealant prepared with phthalate as plasticizer. At the same content, the tensile strength and elastic recovery rate of MS sealant prepared with low molar mass polyether polyol are higher than that of MS sealant prepared with high molar mass polyether polyol. With the increase of diluent, the tensile strength, Shore A hardness and elastic recovery rate of MS sealant increases first and then decreases, and finally tends to be stable. Compared with epoxy silane coupling agent and acyloxysilane coupling agent, MS sealant with amino silane coupling agent has a shorter surface drying time, higher tensile strength, shore A hardness and elastic recovery. In the formulation of MS sealant, the appropriate base polymer is selected according to the application demands, i. e. Background: The author of this paper works in the critical care ward of an internal medicine department. During the study period, current trainees in a nurse post graduate year (NPGY) program joined our nurse team. While at our ward, they were required to demonstrate clinical nursing competencies in intensive care units in the facets of nursing knowledge, equipment use, prediction of emergencies, emergency response, and patient evaluation and management. The ability to interpret arrhythmias is critical to connecting and coordinating these competencies. However, arrhythmia interpretation is usually the most difficult skill for nurses to master. Purpose: This study was developed to improve the knowledge of NPGY trainees regarding arrhythmia interpretation, the accuracy of their arrhythmia interpretation and management, and their confidence in caring for patients with arrhythmia. Resolution: The period of this study spanned from April 5th to June 18th, 2018. After surveying the current capabilities of the NPGY trainees to provide a reference for improvement, several teaching strategies were adopted. These strategies included: (1) provision of arrhythmia clinical scenarios; (2) establishment of multimedia teaching and interactive e-books; (3) development of memory strategies; and (4) mind mapping. Results: The accuracy of the trainees' knowledge regarding arrhythmia interpretation increased from 52.5% pretest to 92.5% posttest, while their arrhythmia interpretation skill improved from 56.3% pretest to 92.5% posttest. Furthermore, their caring-for-patients-with-arrhythmia confidence score increased from 5.5 to 9.1. All of the objectives of this study were achieved. Conclusions: The diverse teaching approach employed in this study enhanced the ability of trainees to remember and recall relevant theories as well as improved their related practical skills. Furthermore, posttest, the trainees were significantly less nervous during encounters with patients with arrhythmia and demonstrated improved problem-solving abilities. In order to establish a simple and effective method for preparing single-stranded DNA in SELEX screening process, this study optimized the experimental conditions for preparing the streptavidin-conjugated magnetic nanoparticles, decided the best time and saturation of symmetric PCR product binding with streptavidin-conjugated magnetic nanoparticles, verified the influence of different NaOH concentration on desmolysis effect, and established the ssDNA preparation system applied to SELEX technology. The purity and recovery efficiency of ssDNA obtained by established method in this experiment and traditional asymmetric PCR method was compared using fluorescence and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The PIC (Particle-In-Cell) method is widely used in computational plasma physics. However, a large number of computational particles have to be simulated in order to get high accuracy, which requires great compute capacity. Therefore, it is necessary to accelerate the PIC method in order to reduce the time cost. A NVIDIA Kepler GPU based PIC algorithm is designed and implemented using CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture). The most time consuming parts of PIC method, namely collision and mover, are ported onto GPU platform. In our experiments, NVIDIA's newly released Kepler K20 is used to evaluate the performance and maximum 30x speedup is achieved compared with Intel Sandy Bridge E5-2650. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Scheduling is one of the most important parts of nursing management. Patient care needs and nurse staff needs must both be taken into consideration. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the extent that nurse scheduling needs coincide with nurse staff needs and relevant factors. Methods: A cross-sectional research design and proportional random sampling was adopted. Participants were nurses at a medical center who were scheduled for nightshift work. A total 350 valid questionnaires were used in analysis. Results: Scheduling needs coincidence ranged between good and fair. The average score for participants working in general wards was higher than those for participants working in special units in the dimensions of autonomy and fairness. Factors that significantly impacted nurse scheduling and nurse staff needs co-incidence included work unit, age, having children, and being married (p < .05). In the autonomy dimension, significant factors included working in the general ward, having children, being married, living in Taipei, being N4 level, being older, and having seniority. In the stability dimension, significant factors included working in the general ward, being N4 level, being older, and having seniority. Conclusions / Implications for Practice: Nursing managers should improve scheduling and develop information scheduling systems to better address nurse staff needs and save time. Background & Problems: Attending rehabilitation programs at psychiatric daycare wards has been shown to stabilize psychiatric patients’ daily routines, reduce patient symptoms, and help them regain social functions. Non–attendance increases risks of patient decompensation and return to the inpatient unit, which reduces quality of care and increases medical costs. The attendance rate for psychiatric daycare patients at our hospital was 73%. To maximize rehabilitation and treatment success, we developed a special project to raise patient program-attendance motivation. Purpose: This study aimed to enhance the attendance rate of our psychiatric day care patients to improve patient independence and their capacity to return to the community. Resolution: Methods used included rehabilitation game cards, holding medication educational workshops, utilizing reward systems, making attendance passports, and designing activity booklets. Results: The attendance rate of psychiatric day care patients rose from 73% to 89%, a 16% increase. Conclusions: This program not only increased the attendance rate of psychiatric day care patients but also improved communications between professional care staff and patient family members. In addition, this program strengthened daycare ward staff teamwork, which further enhanced treatment quality. We suggest considering rehabilitation program attendance as an important ward quality control criterion to assess and improve treatment and nursing care quality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) patients tend to suffer from low self-concept, and think negatively toward themselves due to physical incapacitation and loss of functional independence. Purpose: This study investigated correlations between self-concept and the variables level of functional independence and post-SCI return-to-work rate. Methods: A cross-sectional study with purposive sampling using a structured questionnaire was conducted with 104 SCI patients currently receiving treatment at a medical center in northern Taiwan. A demographic datasheet, self-reported functional measurement scale, and self-concept scale for physically disabled individuals were used to collect data for analysis. Results: Results found functional independence and self-concept most positively correlated with post-SCI return-towork. Other factors of influence on post-SCI return-to-work included current age, age at time of injury, education level, length of time since injury, caregiver status, and participation in vocational training. Conclusions / Implications for practice: Nurses and rehabilitation teams should conduct self-care training for SCI patients in acute and sub-acute SCI units; SCI patients should have convenient access to appropriate vocational training programs; more patient-support groups should be set up in hospitals and communities to facilitate SCI patient recovery and reintegration into society. Background: Some nurses do not have the skills necessary to evaluate general ICU patient condition and the meaning of laboratory data adequately. This can influence nursing care quality and patient safety. Between October 16th and 29th, 2009, this project employed a checklist to evaluate nursing assessment accuracy in medical and surgical ICUs. The unexpectedly low accuracy rate of two-thirds (63.4 percent) was caused by factors including poor nursing assessment cognizance, lack of experience performing nursing assessments, nursing assessment skills taught only to experienced nursing staff, and a lack of nursing assessment guidelines. Purpose: This project was designed to improve nursing assessment cognizance and accuracy among nursing staff Resolution: The authors: 1. Established formal nursing assessment guidelines; 2. made a CD-ROM to introduce nursing assessment basics; and 3. employed lectures and simulation exercises to teach nursing assessment skills. Results: Nursing assessment accuracy improved significantly to 85.8 percent and actual nursing assessment cognizance scores ranged between 68.7 and 83.1. PURPOSE: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is used in infectious disease for its antimicrobial effects. The aim of the study is to evaluate the effects of a diode laser--based photodynamic therapy on the treatment of chronic periodontitis. METHODS: Fifty eight patients with chronic periodontitis were divided into three groups. Group A was treated with scaling and root planing (SRP) plus photoactivated disinfection therapy for one time (Periowave™: a diode laser with a wavelength of 670nm and 0.01% methylene blue solution). In group B, the patients were treated with SRP followed by photoactivated disinfection, and a second photoactivated disinfection treatment 6 weeks later. Group C was treated with SRP alone. The irradiation time was 60 seconds at a power output of 140mW. Gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) samples from these three groups of patients were obtained before periodontal treatment, 6 weeks and 12 weeks after treatment. GCF was collected using a paper strip, and enzyme--linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA) was performed to determine the cytokine (IL-1β and MMP-8) levels. The data were analyzed with SAS 6.12 software package. RESULTS: ELISA showed IL-1β and MMP-8 levels of all groups were decreased significantly at 6-week after treatment compared to pretreatment levels. No significant inter-group differences were noted. At 12-week after treatment, the decreases in IL-1β levels of group A and B and the decrease in MMP-8 level of group B were significantly higher than group C (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Based on these findings, it appears that SRP and SRP with PDT are all effective for chronic periodontitis, but the effect of SRP with PDT may last longer. PDT therefore appears to be a useful adjunct to SRP for chronic periodontitis therapy. Three-dimensional mechanical characteristics of rocks surrounding the stope of thick unconsolidated layers and thin bedrock were studied using the comprehensive research methods of similar conditions stope analogy, field measurement and numerical calculation. Draw the following conclusions: strata behaviors is related to the base-mining ratio, with the base-ming ratio increasing, strata behaviors is easing. According to the different base-mining ratio, stope can be classified as three types, including "having plate and shell" "having plate without shell" and "no plates no shell". For the "having plate and shell" type of stope,"stress shell" is first shelter of the stope, and rock beams or plates in fractured zone as second shelter of the stope, strata behaviors easing; For the "having plate without shell type of stop, rock beams or plates in fractured zone are first shelter of the stope, without upper bearing stress shell, if the structure of plates or beams is instability, strata behaviors of the stope is dramatic; For the "no plate no shell" type of stope,neither the structure of plates or beams nor "stress shell" shelter, alluvial soil load transfer on the hydraulic support directly, this is the important reason that the stope of small base-mining ratio is prone to happen the fully mechanized support crushing accidents. The overlying strata of " no plate no shell" type of stope according to rock vertical structure are divided into two zones, namely "caving zone" and "bending zone". Objective: To modified the classic dithiothreitol (DTT) method for treating red blood cells (RBCs) in Technical Manual of American Association of Blood Banks（AABB） and evaluate its application value in pre-transfusion examination of patients treated with daratumumab., Methods: The classic 0.2 mol/L DTT method was improved in terms of PBS, DTT concentration, donor RBCs concentration (suspended/packed) and sample processing time. The modified DTT methods and AABB classic DTT method were applied to the blood matching tests of 12 multiple myeloma patients treated with daratumumab. The effect of treating panel RBCs with modified DTT methods on the detection of other irregular antibodies was evaluated by using antiserum and antibody reagents with known antibody properties., Results: Two modified DTT methods were established (method 1: changed the concentration of DTT to 0.01 mol/L; method 2: changed the concentration of DTT to 0.02 mol/L and replaced the packed RBCs with 3% RBCs suspension). The optimal treatment time was 35 min for the modified DTT methods. At this time, the pan-agglutination caused by daratumumab was eliminated, but the detection of antibodies such as anti-E, anti-JK a , anti-M were not affected, and the titer of anti-K antibodies was only slightly decreased., Conclusion: The modified DTT methods were effective, which can eliminate the interference of daratumumab while retaining the activity of the Kell blood group system, and can replace the current classic DTT method in AABB Technical Manual.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of antiretrovirals on cardiovascular function and some biochemical indexes in gestational female rats. Methods: Nineteen 9-week-old female and six 10-week-old male SD rats were divided into normal control group (CON) and highly active antiretroviral therapy group (HARRT), 9/10 female rats and 3 male rats were combined into one cage, totally 2 cages. Female rats in CON group were intragastrically given with normal saline (NS, 10 ml/kg) every morning and evening, while female rats in HARRT group were treated with equal volume antiretrovirals (AZT 31.25 mg/kg + 3TC 15.63 mg/kg + LPV/r (41.67/10.42) mg/kg) for 3 months. The body weight and survival rate of female rats were recorded. Echocardiography and multichannel physiological recorder were used to detect arterial blood pressure and cardiac hemodynamic parameters. The levels of blood glucose, blood lipids, myocardial enzymes and liver enzymes were detected by corresponding kits. Myocardial collagen fibers were observed by Masson staining and the ultrastructure of myocardial cells were observed by transmission electron microscopy. Results: All female rats in CON group survived (9/9), while only 6 rats in HARRT group survived (6/10). Compared with CON group, the body weight of female rats in HAART group was decreased significantly( P ＜0.01); the levels of left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVDd), interventricular septal thickness (IVST), thickness of left ventricular posterior wall (LVPWT) , left atrial diameter (LAD) and arterial diastolic pressure were increased significantly ( P ＜0.05); the level of LVP+dP/dtmax was decreased ( P ＜0.01). The levels of triglyceride, creatine kinase, and glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase were decreased ( P ＜0.05 or P ＜0.01), while the level of glucose was increased ( P ＜0.05). The collagen fibers were increased in myocardial tissue, and ultrastructure of myocardial cells was abnormal. Conclusion: Antiretrovirals during gestation can cause cardiovascular diseases in female rats.

Common cuttlefish is mainly distributed in the eastern North Atlantic and the coastal waters of Africa, which is an important fishing target for trawl fisheries and the most important commercial species in the Atlantic sepia family. In this study, based on the cuttlefish samples collected from the west Africa coast in July-August 2015, we measured the outer morphological parameters of 283 cuttlebones. Combined with the age information of cuttlebones, we examined the growth characteristics of cuttlefish of different genders. The results showed that there were significant differences in body length and body weight between different genders. The dominant age group of female and male was both 80-100 days. Among the fitting functions of the outer shape of cuttlebone and the age, the logistic function was the best one. The females' maximum likelihood estimates of the outer morphological parameters of cuttlebone were larger than that of males. The absolute and instantaneous relative growth rates of the cuttlebone length and width of male and female cuttlefish peaked at 110-120 days and 100-110 days, respectively. The age of males and females at first sexual maturity was 111 days and 104 days, respectively. The growth difference between genders might be related to environment.

Background: The author of this paper works in the critical care ward of an internal medicine department. During the study period, current trainees in a nurse post graduate year (NPGY) program joined our nurse team. While at our ward, they were required to demonstrate clinical nursing competencies in intensive care units in the facets of nursing knowledge, equipment use, prediction of emergencies, emergency response, and patient evaluation and management. The ability to interpret arrhythmias is critical to connecting and coordinating these competencies. However, arrhythmia interpretation is usually the most difficult skill for nurses to master., Purpose: This study was developed to improve the knowledge of NPGY trainees regarding arrhythmia interpretation, the accuracy of their arrhythmia interpretation and management, and their confidence in caring for patients with arrhythmia., Resolution: The period of this study spanned from April 5th to June 18th, 2018. After surveying the current capabilities of the NPGY trainees to provide a reference for improvement, several teaching strategies were adopted. These strategies included: (1) provision of arrhythmia clinical scenarios; (2) establishment of multimedia teaching and interactive e-books; (3) development of memory strategies; and (4) mind mapping., Results: The accuracy of the trainees' knowledge regarding arrhythmia interpretation increased from 52.5% pretest to 92.5% posttest, while their arrhythmia interpretation skill improved from 56.3% pretest to 92.5% posttest. Furthermore, their caring-for-patients-with-arrhythmia confidence score increased from 5.5 to 9.1. All of the objectives of this study were achieved., Conclusions: The diverse teaching approach employed in this study enhanced the ability of trainees to remember and recall relevant theories as well as improved their related practical skills. Furthermore, posttest, the trainees were significantly less nervous during encounters with patients with arrhythmia and demonstrated improved problem-solving abilities. Participation in this intervention significantly improved the confidence of trainees to serve as critical care nurses and to pursue a career in critical care nursing.

Purpose: To estimate the relationship between the eruption status of the mandibular third molars and the thickness of the lingual bone., Methods: Cone-beam CT (CBCT) data of 187 patients who underwent mandibular third molar extraction from Jan 2016 to Dec 2018 were selected. Lingual bone thickness at the levels of mid-root and root-apex of the third molars were measured using GALIEOS Viewer software, and the relationship between the eruption status of the mandibular third molars and the thickness of the lingual bone was estimated. SPSS 22.0 software package was used for Wilcoxon test, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis., Results: The mean thickness of the lingual bone at the mid-root of the third molars was significantly less than that at the root apex (P<0.01). There was a significant correlation between the thickness of the lingual bone at the mid root and the mesiodistal angulations of the third molars. The thickness of the lingual bone at the mid root of mesioangularly and horizontally impacted third molars were significantly thinner (P<0.01). There was a significant correlation between the thickness of the lingual bone at the root apex and the impaction depth of the third molars. The thickness of the lingual bone at the root apex of medium and low positioned third molars were significantly thinner (P<0.05)., Conclusions: The thickness of the lingual bone is associated with the eruption status of the mandibular third molars. Mesially angulated and lower positioned third molars are considered as the risk factors for the thinner lingual bone, so that lingual plate fracture should be prevented during tooth extraction.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of platelet rich fibrin (PRF) combining with Bio-oss in treating Class II furcation involvement., Methods: Thirty patients who had Class Ⅱ furcation involvement in the mandibular first molar were included. They were all free of systemic disease. After initial periodontal therapy, they were randomly divided into 2 groups. In the experimental group, PRF combining with Bio-oss were placed in the areas with furcation defect and covered with PRF. In the control group, only flap surgery was performed. All patients were followed up for 6 months after operation. The efficacy was evaluated with clinical parameters and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). The data were analyzed with SPSS 2.0 software package., Results: Periodontal indexes including probing depth (PD), clinical attachment loss (CAL), horizontal probing depth (HPD) significantly decreased in both groups after operation (P<0.05); alveolar bone significantly increased in the experimental group (P<0.05)., Conclusions: The clinical effect of PRF combined with Bio-oss on Class II furcation involvement are remarkable.

Objective To observe the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on hippocampal en- dogenous neural stem cells (eNSCs) expression of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model rats after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) at different time points, and to observe possible mechanisms of EA for keeping away from damage in acute cerebral infarction (ACI). Methods MCAO model was pre- pared in male SPF grade SD rats by suture method. Totally 90 rats were divided into the sham-operated group, the model group, and the EA group according to random number table, 30 in each group. Rats in the sham-operated group only received surgical trauma. Rats in the model group only received MCAO I/R injury. Rats in the EA group received EA at Baihui (DU20) and Dazhui (DU14) , once per day, 30 min each time. Nerve defects of rats were tested by neural function defect scale at day 1 , 7, 14 of treatment, respectively. Meanwhile, 6 rats were executed randomly from each group. Their hippocampus tissues were isolated. Then the proliferation and differentiation expression of eNSCs in the hippocampus area were detected by immunofluorescence method. Results (1) The scores of nerve function defect scale: The scores of the model group increased at day 1, 7, 14 of treatment, being higher as compared with those of the sham-operated group (P <0. 05). The scores of the EA group were lower than those of the model group at day 1, 7, 14 of treatment (P <0. 05). (2) The expression of BrdU positive cells: Com- pared with the sham-operated group, the expression of BrdU positive cells in the model group were in- creased at day 1, 7, 14 of treatment (P <0. 05). Compared with the model group at each time points, the expression of BrdU positive cells in the EA group were increased more at day 1, 7, 14 of treatment (P < 0. 05). (3) The expression of Nestin positive cells: The expression of Nestin positive cells were in- creased more in the model group than in the sham-operated group at day 1 , 7, 14 of treatment (P < 0. 05). Compared with the model group, the expression of Nestin positive cells increased more in the EA group, but only with statistical difference at day 7 of treatment (P <0. 05). (4) the expression of DCX positive cells: the expression of DCX positive cells were increased more in the model group than in the sham-operated group at day 1 and 7 of treatment (P <0. 05). Compared with the model group, the ex- pression of DCX positive cells were increased more in the EA group at day 7 and 14 of treatment (P < 0. 05). (5) the expression of NeuN positive cells: The expression NeuN of positive cells were increased more in the model group than in the sham-operated group at day 1, 7, and 14 of treatment, but only with statistical difference at day 14 of treatment (P <0. 05). Compared with the model group, the expression of NeuN positive cells were increased more obviously, but only with statistical difference at day 1 and 14 of treatment (P <0.05). (6) the expression of GFAP positive cells: The expression of GFAP positive cells increased more obviously in the model group than in the sham-operated group at day 1 , 7, and 14 of treatment (P <0. 05). Compared with the model group, the expression of GFAP positive cells were not obviously increased in the EA group, but only with statistical difference at day 14 of treatment (P <0. 05). Conclusions The proliferation and differentiation of eNSCs exist in the hippocampus area after cerebral I/R in MCAO model rats. EA could improve the recovery of damaged nerve function. Its possible mecha- nism might lie in that EA could promote the proliferation and differentiation of eNSCs in hippocampus area, inhibit excessive differentiation of eNSCs into astrocytes , promote differentiation of eNSCs into neu- rons, and improve regeneration of nerve cells.

This study studied the pollution characteristics of perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) in Qiantang River in Hangzhou section (QR). Surface water samples, collected in July 2014 and January 2015 from 14 sites in QR were analyzed for 16 PFCs. All samples were prepared by solid-phase extraction with Oasis WAX cartridges and analyzed using the ultra performance liquid chromatography interfaced to tandem mass spectrometry ( UPLC-MS/MS). The results showed that 8 medium-and short-chain PFCs including C₄ and C₈ perfluorinated sulfonates (PFSAs) and C₄-C₉ perfluorinated carboxylic acids (PFCAs) were detected in the surface waters. The total concentrations of PFCs ranged from 0.98 to 609 ng · L⁻¹, while perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) dominated, with range of 0.59-538 ng L⁻¹, and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) was detected at lower levels, ranging from 0 to 2.48 ng · L⁻¹. The spatial distribution of PFCs varied, and the pollutant concentrations at the sampling sites located in upstream of the river such as Lanjiangkou and Jiangjunyan were relatively high, PFCs concentration showed a decreasing trend from the upstream to the downstream. According to the ratio of feature components, PFCs in surface water of QR originated largely from the input of direct sewage emissions. Taken together, the PFCs pollution was highly correlated with the upstream of Qiantang River valley's industry distribution, and most of the mass load in the investigated river was attributed to upstream running water with a minor influence from the wastewater discharges along the river basin. Overall, the results presented here indicated that greater attention should be given to the contamination of PFCs, especially for PFOA in water body of QR.

Pot experiments were carried out to explore the approach of optimizing crop group performance through restriction of individual growth redundancy and increasing crop yield potential. Two winter wheat varieties of 'Xiaoyan-22' (with moderate tillering ability) and 'Zhengmai-7698' (with strong tillering ability) were chosen to investigate the effects of two irrigation schedules (full irrigation and regulated deficit irrigation) and three kinds of tillering interference (only retaining the main stem and the biggest tiller at jointing stage; removing all nonbearing tillers at heading stage; and without any interference as the control treatment). Thus, we simulated the compensation effects of different water supplies and unpredictable disturbances on the physiology, growth, yield, and water use efficiency of winter wheat. The results showed that there existed growth redundancy for both varieties. Compared with 'Xiaoyan-22', 'Zhengmai-7698' had relatively higher tillering number but weak panicle traits. Regulated deficit irrigation and removing all nonbearing tillers at heading stage could reduce growth redundancy, weaken competitive ability, change source-sink relations, and optimize resources allocation. However, excessive elimination of redundancy (e.g. only retaining the main stem and the biggest tiller at jointing stage) could destroy the inherent root-shoot balance and functional structure of plant and lead to inadequate compensation. In contrast to the control treatment (full irrigation and without any disturbance), the combination of regulated deficit irrigation and removing all nonbearing tillers at heading stage could help crops sufficiently exploit and utilize their own regulation potentials at spatial and temporal scales and finally realize compensation growth. The combination above could increase the water use efficiency by 20.4% - 25.4% without remarkable impact on grain yield, and hence, could be suitable for wheat growth redundancy reduction.

Objective: To study the effects of (E)-2-(4-bromophenyl)-1-(3, 4-dihydroxyphenyl) ethanone oxime (BDEO) on the proliferation and activation of the mice' s splenic lymphocytes and the peripheral blood lymphocytes induced by Concanavalin A (Con A) in vitro and in vivo, and its molecular mechanism., Methods: During the lymphocyte proliferation and activation induced by Con A in vitro, MTT and cell counting were used to detect the transformation rates and survival rates of lymphocytes, and ELISA was used to measure the activity of caspase-9; moreover, the levels of Bax, Bcl-2 and caspase-3 were determined by Western blot, in order to observe the effects of BDEO on cell proliferation and activation. The effects of administration of Con A [15 mg/(kg x d)] and BDEO [(3, 6 mg/(kg x d)] by intraperitoneal injection on transformation rates of spleen cells and peripheral blood lymphocyte, as well as phagocytosis rate of peritoneal macrophages in mice were also observed in vivo., Results: 0.3-1 micromol/L BDEO significantly inhibited the transformation rates and growth of mice lymphocyte (P < 0.05). The activity of caspase-9 and the levels of mitochondrial pro-apoptotic protein Bax and Bak gradually increased, then decreased as the BDEO continually accumulated. Anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 as well as mitochondrial Cyt C levels first decreased then increased gradually, and cytoplasmic Cyt C, cleaved caspase-9 and cleaved caspase-3 levels showed firstly a increase, then decrease gradually. Additionally, administration of BDEO by intraperitoneal injection significantly inhibited proliferation of spleen lymphocytes and peripheral blood lymphocyte, as well as phagocytosis of peritoneal macrophagesin in mice., Conclusion: BDEO might regulate the proliferation and activation of lymphocytes through activation of caspase-3 mainly via a mitochondrial intrinsic pathway; the inhibiting effect on the proliferation and transformation rate of lymphocytes was significant when the concentration of BDEO was relatively low; as the concentration accumulated increasingly, the inhibiting effect reduced. The results indicated that BDEO has immunosuppressive activity.

Based on their similarity in chemical properties, rare earth elements were able to form stable coordinated compounds with arsenazo III which were extractable into butanol in the presence of diphenylguanidine. The butanol was removed under reduced pressure distillation; the residue was dissolved with diluted hydrochloric acid. As was released with the assistance of KMnO4 and determined by hydrogen generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry in terms of rare earth elements. When cesium sulfate worked as standard solution, extraction conditions, KMnO4 amount, distillation temperature, arsenazo III amount, interfering ions, etc were optimized. The accuracy and precision of the method were validated using national standard certified materials, showing a good agreement. Under optimum condition, the linear relationship located in 0.2-25 microg x mL(-1) and detection limit was 0.44 microg x mL(-1). After the herbal samples were digested with nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide, the rare earth elements were determined by this method, showing satisfactory results with relative standard deviation of 1.3%-2.5%, and recoveries of 94.4%-106.0%. The method showed the merits of convenience and rapidness, simple instrumentation and high accuracy. With the rare earths enriched into organic phase, the separation of analytes from matrix was accomplished, which eliminated the interference. With the residue dissolved by diluted hydrochloric acid after the solvent was removed, aqueous sample introduction eliminated the impact of organic phase on the tubing connected to pneumatic pump.

The Al doping gallate phosphor (Ga(1-x)Al(x))2O3 : Cr3+ (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5) was synthesized by a high temperature solid-state reaction method. The X-ray diffractions show that the phase of the phosphors remains to be Ga2 O3 structure with increase in the contents of Al3+ ion. Beside, the fact that the X-ray diffraction peak shifts towards big angles with increasing Al3+ ions content shows that Al3+ ions entered the Ga2 O3 lattice. The peaks of the excitation spectra located at 258, 300, 410 and 550 nm are attributed to the band to band transition of the matrix, charge transfer band transition, and 4A2 --> 4T1 and 4A2 --> 4T2 transition of Cr3+ ions, respectively. Those excitation spectrum peak positions show different degrees of blue shift with the increase in the Al3+ ions content. The blue shift of the first two peaks are due to the band gap energy of substrate and the electronegativity between Cr3+ ions and ligands increasing, respectively. The blue shift of the energy level transition of Cr3+ ion is attributed to crystal field strength increasing. The Cr3+ ion luminescence changes from a broadband emission to a narrow-band emission with Al3+ doping, because the emission of Cr3+ ion changed from 4 T2 --> 4A2 to 2E --> 4A2 transition with the crystal field change after Al3+ ions doping. The Al3+ ions doping improved the long afterglow luminescence properties of samples, and the sample showed a longer visible near infrared when Al3+ ions content reaches 0.5. The thermoluminescence curve shows the sample with suitable trap energy level, and this is also the cause of the long afterglow luminescence materials.

Objective: To study the effect of chloride channel on proliferation induced by basic-fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in human lens epithelial cells HLE B-3 (LEC)., Methods: HLE B-3 cells at Logarithmic growth phase were incubated in the 6 or 96 well plate overnight and the proliferation was induced by 10 µg/L bFGF. The cells were divided into bFGF group treated with bFGF and the blank control group with the regular cells culture. LEC were treated with different concentrations of chloride channel inhibitors: 5-nitro-2-[3-phenylpropylamino] benzoic acid (NPPB) at 50, 100, 150 µmol/L and 4 , 4'-2 diisothiocyanostilbene-2, 2' -disulfonic acid (DIDS) at 10, 50, 100 µmol/L with bFGF or without bFGF in 10% serum for 24, 48, 72 hours. The cell viability and the drug toxicity were detected by CCK-8 colorimetric assay. The expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (Ki-67) of LEC treated with NPPB or DIDS were observed by immunocytochemistry staining assay. The phase change of cell cycle was examined by flow cytometry. Each experiment group and control group were compared using two-way ANOVA, further pairwise comparisons using LSD-t test or by the Independent-Samples t test., Results: 10 µg/L bFGF induced LEC proliferation and the values of A stage were gradually declined with the increase of chloride channel inhibitors' concentrations and time at 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours (bFGF+NPPB group: Ftime = 305.28, Fconcentrations = 18.76, P = 0.000;bFGF+ DIDS group:Ftime = 94.44, Fconcentrations = 24.42, P = 0.000). Different concentrations of chloride channel inhibitor reduced the values of a stage with 10 µg/L bFGF in a dose- and time-dependent manner. The expression of Ki-67 was significantly lowered compared with the bFGF group (bFGF+NPPB group: 18.32% ± 1.23%, F = 580.3, P = 0.000;bFGF+DIDS group: 11.21% ± 1.02%, F = 507.4, P = 0.000), when 150 µmol/L NPPB and 100 µmol/L DIDS with 10 µg/L bFGF were added at 48 hours. After 150 µmol/L NPPB and 100 µmol/L DIDS treatment at the 48th hour, the rate of G1 stage was significantly increased (F = 390.754, P = 0.000), where as that of S stage decreased significantly (F = 166.240, P = 0.000)., Conclusions: These results indicate that chloride channel inhibitors play an important role in modulating the proliferation cycle of LEC treated with bFGF by limiting the cell at cycle S/G1 stage from dividing into S stage.

Laparoscopic surgery for gastrointestinal diseases had a remarkable achievement in the past 20 years. To ensure the high quality of minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery, several issues should be addressed, including correct guidelines and standard based on the consensus, high quality evidence from multi-center randomized control studies, proper training system for the technique, and constant innovations to improve the technique. We believe that with the great efforts of gastrointestinal surgeons, the minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery in China is promising in the near future.

It is the most important for surgeons to achieve surgical safety and oncological clearance in laparoscopic surgery for gastric cancer. With the widespread adoption oflaparoscopic surgery for gastric cancer, surgeons make great efforts to achieve better safety andlower morbidity. Common abdominal complications (intraoperative and postoperative) after laparoscopic radical gastrectomy include bleeding, anastomotic leakage, anastomotic stenosis, iatrogenic organ injury, pancreatic leakage, etc. The causes and prevention of the complications related with laparoscopic radical gastrectomy was discussed in this article.

Objective: To evaluate the surgical strategy for laparoscopic approach in recurrent inguinal hernia repair., Methods: Between January 2001 and December 2011, the clinical data of 213 patients with 225 recurrent inguinal hernias underwent laparoscopic repair were retrospectively analyzed. There were 202 male and 11 female patients and their average age were (67 ± 14) years old (range 22-97 years old). The surgical methods included laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal hernia repair (TAPP, n = 174), total extraperitoneal herniorrhaphy (TEP, n = 41) and intraperitoneal onlay mesh (IPOM, n = 10). The follow-up period ranged from 15 to 60 months (median 42 months). No patient lost to follow-up during the investigation., Results: The 48 TAPP and 26 TEP were applied to 77 (32.9%) recurrent hernias after conventional suture repair; 23 TAPP and 15 TEP were utilized to 38 (16.9%) recurrent hernias after Lichtenstein repair; 90 TAPP and 1 IPOM were employed for 91 (40.4%) recurrent hernias after Patch and Plug repair; and the other 22 (9.8%) recurrent hernias after preperitoneal repair were repaired by using 13 TAPP and 9 IPOM techniques. No conversion to open surgery was observed. The average operative time was (39 ± 14) minutes (range 15-90 minutes). No patients required analgesia postoperatively. The postoperative average VAS score was 2.4 ± 1.1 (range 1.2-6.4). The average hospital stay was (1.7 ± 1.5) days (range 1-9 days), and the patients returned to unrestricted activities in 2 weeks was 99.6% (212 cases). No recurrence was observed during the follow-up. The accumulative postoperative complications rates was 11.1% (25 cases), with 1 severe complication (surgical intervention was needed) as intraabdominal infection (0.4%), as well as other 24 complications including 15 cases of seroma (6.7%), 5 cases of urinary retention (2.2%), 3 cases with transient paresthesia (1.3%) and 1 case with paralytic ileus (0.4%)., Conclusions: TAPP and TEP are both feasible and efficacious techniques to treat recurrent hernias after suture repair and Lichtenstein repair, while the choice depends on surgeons' experience. Most recurrent hernias after Patch and Plug repair could be treated successfully by TAPP but TEP technique is not encouraged. For recurrences after preperitoneal repair, the TAPP repair should be recommended as first choice, while IPOM is a good technique to cope with the cases which TAPP failed.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of occupational asthma, airway inflammation and analyze the risk factors for workers exposed to isocyanates., Methods: A cross-sectional study was applied. Totally 429 isocyanates exposed workers were surveyed and the prevalence of occupational asthma and airway inflammation situation were examined by questionnaire, physical examination and laboratory tests. Multivariate logistic regression was applied to analyze the possible risk factors of isocyanate-induced occupational asthma., Results: (1) A total of 366 patients with complete data were included in the study, and finally 11 cases were diagnosed as isocyanate-induced occupational asthma with a prevalence of 3.0%. (2) Neutrophil percentage in the induced sputum of occupational asthma increased significantly [42.00% (34.00%-55.00%) before work and 59.00% (51.00%-70.00%) after work (Z = -2.940. P < 0.05)]. (3) Length of service (OR = 3.096, P = 0.025) and rhinitis (OR = 1.901, P = 0.008) were independent dangerous factors, and protective measures (OR = 0.074, P = 0.015) was protective factors to isocyanate-induced occupational asthma., Conclusions: Neutrophilic inflammation can be triggered by isocyanate exposure. Regular health examinations, effective protective measures can reduce the prevalence of isocyanate-induced occupational asthma.

Background & Problems: Attending rehabilitation programs at psychiatric daycare wards has been shown to stabilize psychiatric patients' daily routines, reduce patient symptoms, and help them regain social functions. Non-attendance increases risks of patient decompensation and return to the inpatient unit, which reduces quality of care and increases medical costs. The attendance rate for psychiatric daycare patients at our hospital was 73%. To maximize rehabilitation and treatment success, we developed a special project to raise patient program-attendance motivation., Purpose: This study aimed to enhance the attendance rate of our psychiatric day care patients to improve patient independence and their capacity to return to the community., Resolution: Methods used included rehabilitation game cards, holding medication educational workshops, utilizing reward systems, making attendance passports, and designing activity booklets., Results: The attendance rate of psychiatric day care patients rose from 73% to 89%, a 16% increase., Conclusion: This program not only increased the attendance rate of psychiatric day care patients but also improved communications between professional care staff and patient family members. In addition, this program strengthened daycare ward staff teamwork, which further enhanced treatment quality. We suggest considering rehabilitation program attendance as an important ward quality control criterion to assess and improve treatment and nursing care quality.

Objective: To explore the feasibility and efficacy of multiple-radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in swine liver., Methods: One swine undergone percutaneous and intra-operative RFA for three times in succession (an interval of 5 days) guided by real-time ultrasound. Then 6 ablated lesions formed. The outcome of RFA and the change of tissues adjacent to ablated lesions (biliary, liver vascular and abdominal wall) were observed by trans-abdominal ultrasonography (US), contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), intra-operative ultrasound (IOUS) and contrast enhanced computed tomography (CT)., Results: Bile duct dilatation was found beside primary porta hepatis on US, CT, IOUS after RFA. There was no thrombus in liver vein through the ablated lesion with electrodes parallel to primary porta hepatis. Two ablated lesions were incompletely fused together. Small thermal injury was observed on abdominal wall after an injection of saline into subcapsular gap. Subcapsular hepatic tissue around ablation lesion changed into coagulative necrosis from hyperemia with elapsing time. Carbonizing granule formed during RFA on the top of intro-operative radio-frequency electrode easily caused bleeding along the withdrawing passage. Gelfoam was helpful to stop bleeding during intro-operative RFA. Occluding blood flow into liver definitely enlarged ablated area with the same amount of RFA energy., Conclusion: Multiple-RFA is feasible and efficacious for patients with RFA indication. But the complications of RFA increase if the ablation areas are adjacent to such organs as bile duct, stomach, intestine and diaphragm, etc.

Objective: To explore the expression of soluble programmed death ligand-1 on lung cancer cells and to clarify its biological function through PD-1/PD-L1 pathway in regulating the function of T lymphocytes., Methods: Labeled monoclonal antibody and flow cytometry were used to analyze the expression of PD-L1 and its receptor PD-l on lung cancer cells and human T lymphocytes, respectively. The level of sPD-L1 in the supernatant of lung cancer cells was determined with an ELISA kit. The inhibition of proliferation of T lymphocytes by mPD-L1 and sPD-L1 was studied using CCK-8 incorporation., Results: Low or no expression [(16.08 ± 2.28)%] of PD-1 was found on resting T lymphocytes from human peripheral blood with flow cytometry, but up-regulated expression of PD-1 [(78.06 ± 7.21)%] was found on the surface of activated T lymphocytes. Soluble PD-L1 was found in supernatant of some lung cancer cell lines, such as H1299, HO8910, SPCA-1, H460, H446 cells, with PD-L1 expressing on their cell surface [(78.34 ± 10.25)%, (68.17 ± 11.56)%, (45.32 ± 7.98)%, (47.52 ± 9.62)% and (40.95 ± 8.56)%, respectively], but very low expression on A549 cells [(16.02 ± 6.28)%]. The level of mPD-L1 on H1299 cells was highest [(78.34 ± 10.25)%], compared with HO8910 cells (68.17 ± 11.56)%, SPCA-1 cells (45.32 ± 7.98)%, H446 cells (40.95 ± 8.56)%, and H460 cells (47.52 ± 9.62)%. At the same time, the sPD-L1 level on H1299 cells was low [(0.17 ± 0.01) ng/ml], compared with HO8910 cells (0.30 ± 0.03) ng/ml, SPCA-1cells (0.59 ± 0.03) ng/ml, H446 cells (0.34 ± 0.02) ng/ml, and H460 cells (0.57 ± 0.03) ng/ml, but not expressed on A549 cells. PD-L1 expressing H1299 cells inhibited the proliferation of T lymphocytes in the co-culture system. Supernatant of the cultured PD-L1(+) lung cancer cells also inhibited T cell proliferation. Anti-human PD-L1 blocking antibody could partly restore the proliferation capacity of T lymphocytes., Conclusions: Membrane-bound PD-L1 and soluble PD-L1 released from lung cancer cells can effectively inhibit the proliferation of T lymphocytes in mixed culture system and down-regulate cell-mediated immunity in vitro. This may lead to inactivation of tumor antigen-specific T cells and immune escape of lung cancer cells.
