A kind of hybrid genetic method composed of the genetic algorithm and the worst -- out -- best -- in search algorithm is presented based on multi -- objects for optimizing the damper distribution of transmission towers. The H
2 norm and H∞ norm of the transmission tower, the total number of dampers and the average energy absorption in one damper are selected as the objective functions to control the wind -- induced dynamic response. Applying the proposed optimization method with different parameters, the feasible damper distribution within the tower can be obtained, which can reduce the wind -- induced dynamic response of the tower greatly and the total number of dampers at the same time.
