With the acceleration of global urbanization, the intensity and coverage of artificial light at night (ALAN) are increasing, and its service duration is obviously prolonged. ALAN exposure is not only related to the occurrence and development of cardiovascular, metabolic, sleep, myopia, and mental diseases, but also may induce cancer. Previous studies have focused on the health effects of outdoor ALAN, but people spend more than 80% of their lives indoors, hence it is of great significance to understand the relationship between indoor ALAN and population health to create a healthy indoor environment and protect the health of the population.

Objective To explore the characteristics and influencing factors of the spatial distribution of population health in various cities and towns in Xinjiang, and to provide reference for the improvement of population health in Xinjiang. Methods Spatial correlation test was conducted on population health data in Xinjiang from 2011 to 2019 using the Moran index, and a spatial Durbin model was constructed to further investigate the effects of economy, culture, environment, society, and medical care on population health level. Results The health level of the population in Xinjiang showed strong spatial correlation, with obvious low - low clustering of mortality rates in the northern border areas and significant high - high clustering of mortality rates in the southern border areas. Higher urbanization rate and excellent health technician staffing have positively contributed to the improvement of population health level in the region, surrounding areas and the whole region. Objective To analyze the potential sources and distribution characteristics of air pollutants in Urumqi in winter from the spatial dimension, and to discuss the effects of air pollution on population health combined with respiration, circulation and tumor outpatient volume. Methods Based on the meteorological and pollutant data of Urumqi from 2019 to 2021, potential source contribution factor analysis and concentration weight trajectory analysis in meteorological cluster model were used to weight analyze the influence of terrain and meteorology on the transport path of pollutants. Kriging interpolation was used to analyze the regional distribution characteristics of pollutants and disease outpatient volume. Results PM=5 and PMIO were the main air pollutants in Urumqi. The pollutants from Wusu City, Shihezi City, Changji City and other urban chains along the middle part of Tianshan Mountain accumulated in Urumqi. The death spectrum of the population was mainly respiratory, circulation and tumor. The results of Kriging interpolation analysis suggested that the severity of regional pollution was significantly correlated with the number of outpatient visits for these three diseases. Conclusion Long 一 term air pollution has a vital impact on the health of Urumqi population. Terrain and winter meteorological conditions are the main causes of pollution. The pollution area is significantly correlated with the regional distribution characteristics of outpatient visits for respiratory, circulatory and other systemic diseases, and the mortality rate in different pollution areas is significantly different. The measurement of health has been developed from mortality-based to focus on length of life such as life expectancy, then the focus has been redirected to healthy life expectancy (HLE) globally, one measure reflecting the quality of life. The year-over-year increase in average HLE has been set by China as a national goal to be achieved during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021—2025) . In this article, we briefed the measurements of HLE, and reviewed the experience measuring and using the HLE in international organizations and selected countries. With consideration of the development of health statistics and information system of China, we proposed Global Activity Limitation Index (GALI) as the measurement method of HLE and goal value of HLE, including the share of HLE in life expectancy as well additional year of HLE achieved by the end of 2025. In addition, we concluded as suggestions for achieving the goal.

Due to the lack of real-time monitoring information of traditional epidemiological investigation methods， in recent years， a new method of obtaining relevant epidemiological information through wastewater analysis has become an effective way to maintain the health of the population， which is called wastewater-based epidemiology. Information obtained from the chemical analysis of wastewater can be used to estimate exposure or consumption of chemicals. This work introduces the principle and the investigation method of wastewater-based epidemiology. Compared with traditional epidemiological survey methods， the advantages and disadvantages of wastewater-based epidemiology are analyzed. Development and prospects of wastewater-based epidemiological investigation methods in China are analyzed and some suggestions are discussed.

An effective method was developed for the determination of procymidone residue in Chinese chives by QuEChERS combined with high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). The supervised residue field trials of procymidone were designed and conducted in China (Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Henan, Shandong, Anhui, Hunan, Guangxi, and Fujian Province) in 2019. The risk of residue of procymidone applied in Chinese chives was studied, and the chronic dietary exposure risk of procymidone was evaluated. The samples were extracted by acetonitrile, purified with PSA and GCB, detected using HPLC-MS/MS, and quantified by external standard method. The recoveries ranged from 74% to 98% with the relative standard deviations (RSD) of 4.6%-9.9% at the fortified levels of 0.02 to 20 mg/kg. The limit of quantitation (LOQ) of the method was 0.02 mg/kg. The field trial results showed that after the spraying of 50% wettable powders (WP) of procymidone at 450 g a.i./ hm2 once, the final residues in Chinese chives from 8 provinces were 0.04- 1.06 mg/kg at 30 days after the application. Given that the national estimated daily intake (NEDI) of procymidone was 2.556 2 mg, its risk quotient (RQ) was 40.6%. The result of the chronic dietary exposure assessment revealed that it might not pose an unacceptable risk to the general population’s health by applying procymidone on Chinese chives. Objective To evaluate the population health for disease prevention and control in Shanghai Minhang District of Shanghai the data of mortality from 1993 to 2015 and communicable diseases from 2002 to 2015.Methods We adopted descriptive epidemiological method to analyze the trends of average life expectancy (ALE),specific death rate and causes of death cis-position from 1993 to 2015,and the incident rates of communicable diseases,incidence trends in Minhang District from 2002 to 2015.Results Overall,the ALE of population in Minhang District increased 11.80 years from 1993 to 2015 (from 71.78 years in 1993 to 83.58 years in 2015),including the ALE of male population increased 14.03 years (from 67.43 years in 1993 to 81.37 years in 2015) and the ALE of female population elevated 9.67 years (from 76.22 years in 1993 to 85.89 years in 2015).In 2015,Crude death rate (CDR) was 755.35/105,which was 21.45% higher than in 1993 and 2.71% higher than in 2014,respectively.In the same year,standardized mortality rate (SMR) was 196.07/105,which was 54.17% lower than in 1993 and 0.51% lower than in 2014.The top five leading causes of death were circulatory system diseases,tumors,respiratory diseases,endocrine and metabolic diseases,and injury and poisoning,which contributed 91.33% of the population death.From 2002 to 2015,a total of 23 kinds of notifiable infectious diseases were reported in Minhang District,including 62 845 cumulative cases and 152 cases died.The total reported incidence rate of communicable diseases sharply elevated by 291.98% during 14 years (Z=10 943.83,P＜0.001),and it increased after standardized.The top five communicable diseases were hand foot and mouth disease (HFMD),scarlet fever,syphilis,tuberculosis and hepatitis B in 2015.Conclusions Over the years,Minhang District of Shanghai comprehensive implemented “health in all policies” by integrating the resources of all levels of regional healthcare institutions.The ALE of the residents was at a high level.The control and prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases and major communicable diseases will continue to be the priority of public health. In recent years, the ozone (O 3 ) concentration has showed a rising trend in China, becoming second only to PM 2.5 as an important factor affecting air quality. To grasp the spatial-temporal variations characteristics of O 3 and the associated health impacts during the implementation of the three-year plan on defending the blue sky in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region, data collected from 210 monitoring stations in the YRD from 2017 to 2020 were analyzed using the global Moran's index and Getis-Ord G i * index methods, and the associated health benefits of reduced O 3 exposure were evaluated using the health risk and environmental value assessment methods. The results showed that during the study period, the interquartile range (IQR) of the annual average O 3 concentration and that of the warm season both presented a declining trend. The average O 3 concentrations in both warm and cold seasons showed a similar spatial distribution pattern, with the northern part exhibiting the higher concentrations and the southern part showing the lower concentrations. Furthermore, the O 3 concentrations in the warm season were characterized by high O 3 concentrations clustering in the northern and central part of the region. The proportion of the population exposure to annual average O 3 concentration over 160 μg·m -3 decreased from 72.3% in 2017 to 34.8% in 2020 in the YRD. Although the population-weighted annual mean O 3 concentration in the whole YRD region showed a downward trend, some cities in western Anhui province, northern Jiangsu province, and central Jiangsu province showed fluctuations and even an increasing trend. In terms of health benefits, there were 3782 cases (95% CI:2050-5511 cases) of avoided premature deaths associated with reduced O 3 concentrations in the warm season in 2020 compared to 2017. The total health benefit was 26198 million yuan (95% CI:14201-38175 million yuan). Compared to the cost of the main O 3 precursor emission reduction, the cost-benefits ratio was 1:1.67 to 3.23.

Global warming has caused frequent heat waves worldwide. In order to respond to heat waves and enhance the public's protection abilities, Europe, the United States and other countries have extensively carried out research on heat-health early warning, and initially achieved good health benefits based on a heat-health early warning system. However, the research on heat-health early warning is still limited in China, especially on health risks at the population level. Based on evidence-based thinking, our study combs the research progress of heat-health early warning from four aspects: early warning indicators, early warning models, early warning thresholds, and early warning ranks, and clarifies the key points of the construction of heat-health early warning models and rank schemes, in order to provide early warning technology for the rapid development of national heat-heath early warning in China.

As one of the major environmental and health problems in China, ambient air pollution has attracted substantial public concerns. This paper reviews the current evidence on air pollution and population health in China, including acute health effect studies, chronic health effect studies, disease burden, and interventions studies. Future research directions are also discussed.
