Cold plasma is used to sterilize meat and reduce endogenous enzyme activity for meat preservation because it can generate reactive nitrogen species (RNS) and reactive oxygen species (ROS). RNS can be an alternative to nitrite in meat products; however, the active particles have a nonnegligible impact on meat components especially protein and fat. Excessive oxidation of meat products will cause quality deterioration. In this paper, the action modes of cold plasma technology on meat proteins and meat products are reviewed, as well as its regulatory effect and mechanism on the structure and function of myofibrillar protein and myoglobin in meat, and the current status of research on the application of cold plasma technology in meat preservation and processing is outlined. This systematic review is expected to provide a reference for the wide application of cold plasma technology in the meat industry.

Objective: To observe the changes of tongue and pulse parameters in lung cancer patients after combined treatment with integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and to probe into the application of the tongue and pulse parameters in evaluation of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine therapy on lung cancer patients., Methods: Electropulsograms and tongue pictures of 50 lung cancer patients were examined by TP-I digital electropulsography. The tongue and pulse parameters of the patients, including the indexes of moistness and dryness, thinness and thickness, fissure, swollenness and emaciation, greasiness and likeness of curd, and power spectral ratios (PSRs) 1, 2, 3, 4 and cepstrum spectral ratios (CSRs) 1, 2, 3, 4, were observed after 1-month and 2-month treatment with Yifei Kangliu Oral Liquid (a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine) plus chemotherapy, respectively. The above parameters of the lung cancer patients were compared before and after the treatment., Results: PSR1 increased, while PSR2 decreased significantly after 1-month and 2-month treatment as compared with before treatment (P < 0.05). PSR1 decreased, while PSR2 increased after 2-month treatment as compared with after 1-month treatment (P < 0.05). PSR4 after 1-month treatment was lower than before treatment (P < 0.05). The tongue parameters including the indexes of moistness and dryness, and greasiness and likeness of curd increased significantly after 1-month and 2-month treatment as compared with before treatment (P < 0.05). The index of thinness and thickness decreased, while the index of fissure increased significantly after 1-month treatment as compared with before treatment (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: Tongue and pulse parameters can be regarded as one of reference indexes in evaluation of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine therapy on lung cancer patients.

Objective: To study on the chemical constituents from the stem of Gymnema sylvestre., Methods: The constituents were extracted by percolation with ethanol. Then the extract was separated by systemic solvent separation methods. The part of n-butanol extract was isolated and purified by macroporous adsorptive resins, silica gel column chromatography, sephadex gel column chromatography and recrystallization. The isolated compounds were identified by spectrum methods., Results: Eight compounds were isolated and identified as fallows: Conduritol A(I), 1-Heptadecanol(II), Stigmasterol glucoside(III), 1-Quercitol(IV), 1-Octadecanol(V), Potassium nitrate(VI), Lupeol cinnamate(VII), Stigmasterol(VIII)., Conclusion: Chemical compounds II, III, V, VII are firstly obtained from this plant.

The aim of study was to investigate the killing effect of double suicide gene system mediated by retroviral vector on K562 cells in vivo and ex vivo. CDglyTK gene was transfected into PA317 cells by using lipofectamine. K562 cells were infected with viral supernatant. K562/CDglyTK cells were treated with 5-fluorocytosine (5-FC) and/or ganciclovir (GCV). Mice were randomly divided into three groups: tumor formation, tumor inhibition and tumor therapy. Each mouse was implanted with K562/CDglyTK cells or K562 cells. The results indicated that the killing effect of 5-FC in combination with GCV on K562/CDglyTK was more significant than using 5-FC or GCV alone. In vivo study showed that after being injected subcutaneously with K562 cells and K562/CDglyTK cells, there was not obvious difference in tumor formation rate of mice, 5-FC + GCV could suppress tumor formation of the K562/CDglyTK cells. After being treated with 5-FC and GCV, the median tumor volume of mice implanted with K562/CDglyTK cells decreased obviously, compared with the control group. Their median survival was significantly prolonged. It is concluded that double suicide genes are more effective for killing effect on K562 cells in vivo and in ex vivo. It may be applicable to clinical gene therapy.
