In recent years, studies have shown that among elderly comorbidities, the incidence of comorbidity between osteoporosis and cognitive impairment is increasing year by year, which is manifested as a high incidence of falls and an increased risk of fractures, which leads to disability, increased mortality, and serious harm to health and quality of life of patients with comorbidities also bring a heavy economic burden to the family and society, which has become a more difficult problem in the management of chronic diseases in the community. This article reviews the progress of the relationship between osteoporosis and cognitive impairment. The focus is on the co-morbidity mechanism, clinical risk factors and clinical features of co-morbidity between osteoporosis and cognitive impairment. It is found that osteoporosis is closely related to cognitive impairment and seriously endangers the health of the elderly. It is hoped that this article can provide ideas for exploring new risk factors for comorbidity of osteoporosis and cognitive impairment, and provide help for the effective prevention and management of patients with comorbidity of osteoporosis and cognitive impairment.

The microstructure, structure, and cracking behavior of Q235-A strip iron oxide skin were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and a universal tensile testing machine. The results show that the composition of the iron oxide mainly consists of Fe3O4, Fe2O3, and Fe, together with small amount of FeO, the oxide layer has the same thickness all over, about 10 μm, the structure is dense, and the matrix is better connected. The tensile experiments show that with increasing strain, the increase in the number of cracks is at first slow, then fast, then slow again. When the strain reaches 0.05%, its iron oxide skin begins to crack; the number of cracks increases with increasing strain in the range 0.08% -0.10%. When the strain exceeds 0.10%, the crack number increases slowly, and when the strain exceeds 0.15%, the number of cracks stops grow.

Shengli Oilfield has abundant low-permeability oil reservoirs with proven reserves of 1.18 billion tons， presenting a good prospect for development. However， there is a problem of inability to inject and produce during the development process of the oil reservoirs due to the low porosity， poor permeability， and strong heterogeneity of the low-permeability oil reservoir. A systematic review was conducted on the prediction and analysis methods for low-permeability oil reservoirs in Shengli Oilfield to achieve efficient development of low-permeability oil reservoirs， as well as efficient development technologies， and the advantages and disadvantages of existing technologies were analyzed to provide an outlook for the development technologies of low-permeability oil reservoirs. Based on research and practice， the following conclusions are drawn： ① Shengli Oilfield has developed fine reservoir characterization technologies such as reservoir prediction， in-situ stress prediction， and evaluation of reservoir heterogeneity. ② Based on theoretical and technological innovation， the physical limit of reserve production was constantly broken， forming differential development technology series， such as water injection development technology of horizontal wells in ultra-low permeability oil reservoirs， long well section multi-stage fracturing development technology of horizontal wells in tight oil reservoirs， well pattern adaptation technology for enhanced oil recovery of general low-permeability oil reservoirs， pressure flooding technology in low-permeability tight oil reservoirs， and viscous emulsion-surfactant flooding technology. Good development results have been achieved. ③ Combined with the actual needs of high-quality development and speed and efficiency improvement development of low-permeability oil reservoirs in Shengli Oilfield， the well pattern reconstruction technology of dual control streamline variation， CCUS technology， and nanobubble flooding technology were proposed， pointing out the development direction for improving oil recovery of low-permeability oil reservoirs.

The effect of different doses of antioxidant on oxidation stability of pig concentrate were studied, and the protective effects of monomer antioxidant and compound antioxidant on pig concentrate were compared. The 25% pig concentrate was divided into 13 groups according to the type and dose of antioxidant. The test were divided into control group (no antioxidant), monomer antioxidant group (M-1, M-2, M-3, M-4, M-5, M-6) and compound antioxidant group (C-1, C-2, C-3, C-4, C-5, C-6), respectively. Each group had three repetitions. The samples were placed in a constant temperature and humidity incubator with temperature of 37 °C and humidity of 60%. Samples were taken every 14 d to determine acid value (AV), peroxide value (POV) and malondialdehyde (MDA) content. The experiment lasted for 90 d. The results showed that during the 4th to 10th week, the POV values of control group, C-1 group and M-1 group was significantly higher than that of other groups (P<0.05). At 2nd, 10th and 12th week, the POV values of M-5 group and M-6 group was significantly lower than that of other groups (P<0.05). During the 6th to 12th week, the MDA content of C-1 group, C-2 group and M-1 group was significantly higher than that of the other groups (P<0.05). During the 10th to 12th week, the MDA content of the C-3 group, C-4 group and M-2 group was significantly higher than that of the C-5 group, C-6 group and M-3~M-6 group (P<0.05). The experiment indicates that the higher antioxidant content added, the better the protective effects on the fat in the concentrates. The protective effects of the same concentration of 60% monomer antioxidant EQ on oil in concentrates is better than that of compound antioxidant. Adding 600 mg/kg 60% monomer antioxidant EQ to pig concentrate containing 8% oil has a good protective effect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Due to long-term alternating load, engineering thin-walled structures will produce fatigue cracks, and most of them are penetrative cracks, which will lead to difficult repair and irreplaceable problems in engineering. Therefore, a coating technology is proposed to repair and crack arrest thin-walled structures. Thin plate test pieces related to practical engineering were made, and cracks were preset. The test piece was going to be subjected to the first-order bending resonance state and the excitation test with the foundation excitation of 10g on the vibration test bench until cracks appear. Two kinds of coatings, NiCrAl coating and NiCrAl transition layer + ZrO2 functional layer composite coating, were applied to the test piece by double-sided spraying method to repair the crack, and the excitation test was repeated. Comparing the crack propagation time and propagation rate of the test piece before and after coating, the influence of NiCrAl coating and ZrO2 coating on the crack propagation of the thin-walled plate test piece was analyzed. The crack arrest effect of the coating on the thin-walled plate is verified.

Based on the data of the monthly average temperature and precipitation observed by 20 meteorological stations in Shannxi Province from 1961 to 2011, this study analyzes the pattern and characteristics of the climate changes in recent 51 years in Shannxi Province by using the methods of linear regression, Mann-Kendall test, accumulative anomaly method and Morlet wavelets analysis. The results show that: 1) the annual average temperature in Shaanxi Province have increased significantly at an increase rate of 0.203°C/10a in recent 51 year, and in 1988-1989, an abrupt change occurred in the annual average temperature from low to high; 2) both the growth rate and amount of the annual average temperature are higher in the north and south of Shansi Province while lower in the middle; 3) the annual average percipitation in Shaanxi Province have decreased undulately at a decrease rate of 13. 491mm/10a in recent 51 years, and in 1985, an abrupt change occurred in the annual average percipitation from more to less; 4) the decline rate of the annual average precipitation have increased gradually from the south to the north of Shanxi Province. Furthermore, the Morlet wavelet analysis shows that: 1) the annual average temperature in Shannxi Province has fluctuated at a significant interval of about 24 years accompanied with two small-scale intervals of nine years and four years; 2) the annual average percipitation has fluctuated at a significant interval of about 24 years accompanied with two small-scale intervals of eight years and three years. Therefore, it can be concluded that the climate of Shaanxi Province has presented an obvious trend of becoming warmer and dryer in recent 51 years. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Traditional risk management methods focus on identifying,predicting and assessing potential risks.However,when enterprises are exposed to uncertainty and unexpected risks,traditional methods cannot deal with those risks.Therefore,the academia gradually shifts the perspective of risk management from predicting and avoiding risks to improving the ability of enterprises to withstand and recover from risks,that is,the enterprise resilience.This paper proposes a prediction method to predict the enterprise resilience based on temporal features,which utilizes Bi-LSTM to encode the temporal features to obtain the feature representation of every enterprise,and the classification results of enterprise resilience are obtained by a softmax classifier.The proposed method is validated on the real-world datasets from listed companies in China,and the macro-F1 value reaches 89.0%,which is improved compared with those models without considering temporal features,such as RF,XGBoost and LightGBM.This paper further discusses the importance of various factors that have an influence on the enterprise resilience.In this paper,the machine learning methods are applied to the evaluation and prediction of enterprise resilience for the first time,which provides theoretical and methodological guidance for enterprises to deal with unexpected risks.

In this paper, a regional emissions inventory of anthropogenic VOCs was established based on the traditional emissions factor method for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH) region, followed by a multidimensional calibration study based on regional satellite remote sensing information for formaldehyde and typical urban ground VOCs. Inventory calculations showed that the VOCs emissions in BTH in 2013, 2015, and 2017 were 2026700, 2073400, and 1934200 tons, respectively, comprising alkanes (29.83% to 30.72%), unsaturated hydrocarbons (16.54% to 17.68%), aromatic hydrocarbons (27.14% to 27.51%), aldehydes (8.75% to 9.52%), ketones (8.13% to 9.04%), and aldehydes and ketones lipids (5.13% to 6.60%). During 2013-2017, the emission of VOCs in Zhangjiakou, Qinhuangdao, and Hengshui increased slightly (1.10% to 1.66% per year); emissions in Xingtai and Handan decreased slightly (-1.46% to -1.12% per year); and emissions in Chengde, Tangshan, Baoding, and Cangzhou were stable. There trends were consistent with the inter-annual trend of satellite-derived HCHO column concentrations. However, in Beijing, Tianjin, Langfang, and Shijiazhuang, annual variations in VOCs emissions (-6.51%, -3.30%, 2.16%, and 0.11% per year) and HCHO column concentrations (-1.17%, 7.19%, -0.24%, and 6.68% per year) were observed, respectively. In the regional VOCs inventory, a good linear correlation ( R >0.5) was achieved between the grid emissions of VOCs and HCHO column concentrations in urban areas, while the correlation was only 0.33 in suburban areas. This is mainly due to the important influence of secondary conversion of VOCs originating from natural sources to HCHO in suburban areas. In addition, ground-level VOCs concentrations were observed in the urban areas of Beijing and Handan, where the emission ratios (ERs) of VOCs and CO were regressed. The ERs of most hydrocarbons were in good agreement with the regressed ERs, but the ERs of ethane were significantly lower (-156% to -73%) and the ERs of aromatic hydrocarbons above C8 were relatively high (54% to 74%). In general, the regional anthropogenic VOCs emissions inventory established in this paper offers high accuracy and reliability.

This study selected a rubber tire manufacturing factory located in the North China Plain, and conducted ambient volatile organic compounds (VOCs) observation tests, and calculated the emission of VOCs based on the inverse-dispersion calculation method. The monitoring results found significant differences in both VOC concentrations and chemical composition between the up-wind (background) and the downwind receptors. The average concentrations of VOCs measured by the background and receptors were 53.8 μg·m -3 and 127.5 μg·m -3 , respectively. Propane (7.2 μg·m -3 ), cetone (7.5 μg·m -3 ), nonanal (12.7 μg·m -3 ), n -butane (4.9 μg·m -3 ), and acetaldehyde (2.7 μg·m -3 ) were the dominant components of background VOCs, and nonanal (43.5 μg·m -3 ), propane (11.4 μg·m -3 ), acetaldehyde (7.4 μg·m -3 ), hexane (11.9 μg·m -3 ), and n -butane (7.3 μg·m -3 ) were the dominant components of receptor VOCs. The difference in VOCs between the background and receptors is considered to reflect contributions from the factory, the main components of which were of alkanes (31.39%) and oxygenated organic compounds (33.15%). Using the ISC3 model, the relation coefficient γ between the downwind VOCs increment and the emissions of the factory was calculated for each receptor of each test based on the hourly average meteorological conditions during the observation period. Combining the relation coefficient γ with the difference in VOCs between the receptor and the background, we calculated VOC emission amounts from this factory of 152.8±188.2 t·a -1 and a VOC emission factor (EF) for the rubber tire manufacturing industry of VOC 101.9 g·tire -1 . Our estimated EF was loser to EF of U. S. AP42 (55 g·tire -1 ), but greatly lower than the EF of China's reference (900 g·tire -1 ). Although our calculations had a relatively higher standard deviation, these results are helpful for better understanding the emission of VOCs from the rubber manufacturing industry. Based on our calculated EF, China's national VOCs emissions from the rubber tire manufacturing industry would be approximately 62.13 kt·a -1 , which represents a significant potential contribution to ozone formation (130.87 kt·a -1 ), but the organic aerosol formation potential is small (0.86 kt·a -1 ).

Gene editing technologies are used to specifically edit the target sequence. With the development of zinc finger nuclease (ZFN), transcription activator-like effector nuclease (TALEN), regular clustering of short palindrome repeats (CRISPR) and single base editing (BE) techniques, gene editing technologies not only provide powerful tools for gene functional studies, but also offer new therapeutic strategies in biomedical research. Gene editing has demonstrated broad application prospects in the gene therapy field, as well as in the construction of animal and cell models, drug target screening and gene functional research. In this review, we summarize several typical gene editing technologies, their characteristics and applications in gene therapy and discusses their opportunities and challenges in gene therapy, thereby providing critical insights and references on the clinical application of gene editing technologies.

Objective: To investigate whether fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography ( 18 F-FDG PET/CT) combined with thin-section CT improves the diagnostic performance for solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs)., Methods: A total of 267 patients underwent examinations with 18 F-FDG PET/CT and thin-section CT for evaluating the SPNs with undetermined nature, which was further confirmed by pathological examination or clinical follow-up. The performance of two diagnostic criteria based on findings in PET/CT alone (Criterion 1) and in PET/CT combined with thin-section CT (Criterion 2) were compared., Results: Thin-section CT provided greater diagnostic information for SPNs in 84.2% of the patients. Compared with Criterion 1, the diagnosis based on Criterion 2 significantly increased the diagnostic sensitivity (80.4% vs 91%, P<0.01) and accuracy (76.4% vs 87.2%, P<0.01) for lung cancer. The lesion size and the CT features including lobulation, air bronchogram, and feeding vessel, but not SUVmax, were all helpful for characterizing non-solid SPNs. Thin-section CT rectified diagnostic errors in 50% (20/40) of the cancerous lesions, which had been diagnosed as benign by PET due to their low metabolism. For non-solid SPNs, Criterion 2 showed a significantly higher diagnostic sensitivity than Criterion 1 (90.0% vs 40.0%, P=0.000) but their diagnostic specificity were comparable (75.2% vs 58.3%, P=0.667). For solid nodules, the use of thin-section CT resulted in no significant improvement in the diagnostic performance (P<0.05)., Conclusion: The combination of PET/CT and thin-section CT creates a synergistic effect for the characterization of SPNs, especially non-solid nodules.

Objective: To compare the clinical outcomes of GnRH agonist (GnRH-a) long protocol and GnRH antagonist (GnRH-ant)protocol in vitro fertilization (IVF)-embryo transfer (ET) cycles, and to explore the optimized protocol for infertile women., Methods: From June 2010 to June 2012, 2 444 infertile women underwent their IVF cycles in Peking University Third Hospital, which were divided into 1 706 GnRH agonist long protocol and 738 GnRH antagnist protocol groups. The data of the general demographic, treatment and clinical outcome were compared between the two groups., Results: The age, body mass index(BMI), infertile duration, antral follicle count (AFC) did not reach statistical difference, the level of estradiol on the day of HCG: injection was higher in GnRH agonist group [(10 595±7 368)pmol/L vs. (9 087±7 035) pmol/L], and the mean length of stimulation was longer in GnRH agonist group[(12.5±1.8) d vs.(9.4±1.7) d], The dose of Gn [(3 107±1 377) IU vs. (2 084±903)IU]was higher in GnRH agonist group. The number of ovum was 13.4±6.6 in GnRH agonist group and 11.8±6.4 in GnRH antagonist group. Those clinical parameters all reached statistical difference (P<0.05). The number of the transfer embryos, fertilization rate, and cleavage rate did not reach statistical difference, but the number of the embryos was 5.6±4.5 in GnRH agonist group and 5.1±4.3 in GnRH antagonist group,reached statistical difference (P<0.05). The abortion rate, embryonic death rate, ectopic pregnancy rate, preterm labor rate, postterm pregnancy rate, fatal malformations rate showed no statistical difference, but the GnRH agonist long protocol had higher pregnancy rate (44.0% vs. 38.3%), and higher term pregnancy rate (64.2% vs. 56.9%) compared with GnRH antagonist protocol, thus those parameter reached significant difference (P<0.05)., Conclusion: Compared with GnRH-antagnist protocol, GnRH agonist long protocol had higher pregnancy rate and better pregnancy outcome.

The dewaterability of cattle biogas slurry facilitated by bioleaching was investigated through batch experiments with co-inoculation of different Acidophilic thiobacilli (Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans TS6 or Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans LX5). The experiment was set the following 5 treatments: (1) original biogas slurry (CK), (2) 4 g x L(-1) Fe(2+) (uninoculation), (3)2 g x L(-1) S(0) + 25 mL A. t, (4) 4 g x L(-1) Fe(2+) + 25 mL A. f and (5) 2 g x L(-1) S(0) + 4 g x L(-1) Fe(2+) + 12.5 mL A. t + 12.5 mL A. f. During bioleaching, dynamic changes of pH, ORP, Fe(2+), F(3+), total Fe, the settleability, the turbidity of the supernatant after settling for 12 h, and the dewaterability (expressed as specific resistance to filtration gamma or capillary suction time, CST) of biogas slurry were monitored. Results show that specific resistance gamma and CST of bioleached biogas slurry are reduced drastically for the treatments of original biogas slurry spiked with only Fe(2+), the treatment of original biogas slurry co-spiked with Fe(2+) and Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans LX5, and the treatment of original biogas slurry co-spiked with Fe(2+), S(0) and two Acidophilic thiobacilli. Taking the dewaterability, settleability, the turbidity of the supernatant fluid after settle 12 h and economical cost into account, the treatment of original biogas slurry co-spiked with Fe(2+) and Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans LX5 is the most suitable pattern for cattle biogas slurry bioleaching. After bioleaching, 1.14% of organic matter, 0.09% of N, 0.05% of P, and 0.1% of K are lost in the bioleaching process, but it don't affect its fertilizer efficiency. Meanwhile, the 63.2% of Cu and 91.3% of Zn are removed from the biogas slurry, and elimination efficiencies of total coliforms in bioleached slurry exceed 99%. This study might provide a new approach for treatment and disposal of biogas slurry.

Objective: To observe the morphologic changes and the expression of suppressor of cytokine signaling-1/3 (SOCS-1/3) in renal tubular epithelial cells induced by high glucose (HG) and to investigate their significance., Methods: The renal tubular epithelial cell line (HKCs) cultured in vitro were divided into blank control group, HG group, and Janus kinase 2 inhibitor AG490 group. HKC of blank control group was cultured for 8 hours in 5.5 mmol/L glucose, and the other two groups were cultured in 300.0 mmol/L glucose or 300.0 mmol/L glucose+10 μmol/L AG490 for 2, 4, 6, 12, 24, 48 hours (n=6). The morphology and ultrastructure were observed with inversion microscope and electron microscope at different time points. Protein expression of SOCS-1/3 was assayed by immunocytochemistry and Western blotting; SOCS-1/3 mRNA was assessed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)., Results: Under inversion microscope it was showed that 12 hours after being cultured with HG, the cells assumed a spindle-shape, with irregular protrusions, and cellular membrane became indistinguishable with prolongation of time, with increase of intracellular granules. Under the electron microscope, it was seen that there was distinct decrease in microvilli on the cell membrane and mitochondria, with an increase in rough endoplasmic reticulum. The cellular changes were not obvious in AG490 group. Furthermore, immunocytochemistry and Western blotting showed that the immunoreactivity was localized in the cytoplasm as well as in the nuclei, and there was basic expression of SOCS-1/3 protein in normal HKC (0.218±0.023, 0.337±0.009). HG was shown to induce up-regulation of the expression of SOCS-1/3 protein at 4, 6, 12, 24 hours compared with blank control group. The expression of SOCS-1 was highest at 4 hours (1.022±0.072), and that of SOCS-3 was highest at 6 hours (1.256±0.105, both P<0.01), while the expression of SOCS-1/3 protein in AG490 group was lower than that in HG group (4 hours SOCS-1: 0.589±0.167, 6 hours SOCS-3 : 0.656±0.075, both P<0.05). However, HG induced a higher expression of SOCS-1/3 mRNA at 2, 4, 6, 12 hours compared with blank control group. The expression of SOCS-1 was highest at 4 hours (1.716±0.098 vs. 0.475±0.045, P<0.05), and that of SOCS-3 was highest at 6 hours (2.848±0.116 vs. 0.749±0.086, P<0.01), while the expression of SOCS-1/3 mRNA in AG490 group was lower (4 hours SOCS-1: 0.865±0.075, 6 hours SOCS-3: 0.923±0.116, both P<0.05)., Conclusion: HG could produce morphology and ultrastructure changes in renal tubular epithelial cell, and it induces up-regulation of SOCS-1/3 expression. These changes might be related with negative regulation of Janus kinase (JAK)/signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT)/SOCS pathway.

Objective: To study the feasibility of umbilical cord brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) level measurement for the evaluation of perinatal cardiac function in fetuses from pregnant women with abnormal blood glucose levels and the influence of abnormal blood glucose on fetal cardiac function., Methods: Twenty-four mothers with gestational diabetes mellitus (n=18) or gestational impaired glucose tolerance (n=6) (diabetic group) were classified into two subgroups according to blood glucose level before delivery: good (n=17) and poor (n=7) glucose control. They underwent fetal echocardiography in their late pregnant periods and fetal cardiac sizes and function were measured. Twenty-five normal pregnant mothers served as the control group. Umbilical cord blood BNP concentrations were measured at delivery., Results: The umbilical cord blood BNP concentrations in the diabetic group were significantly higher than in the control group(114.0+/-39.0 pg/mL vs 80.6+/-13.7 pg/mL; p<0.01). The poor glucose control subgroup demonstrated higher umbilical cord blood BNP concentrations than the good glucose control subgroup (142.1+/-44.1 pg/mL vs 102.4+/-31.2 pg/mL; p<0.01). No difference was found between the gestational diabetes mellitus and the impaired glucose tolerance groups. The BNP concentration was positively correlated to the thicknesses of fetal left ventricular walls and the peak velocities of mitral A wave (r=0.715, 0.491 respectively, p<0.05), and negatively correlated to the mitral E/A ratio (r=-0.507, p<0.05)., Conclusions: The fetuses of pregnant women with abnormal blood glucose levels have an increased BNP level in umbilical cord blood. Umbilical cord BNP level is related to maternal blood glucose control and the changes in fetal cardiac function. It may reflex the latent impairments of fetal cardiac function. A good glucose control may decrease the impact of abnormal maternal blood glucose on fetal hearts.

Objective: To assess prenatal heart disease screening program by ultrasound., Methods: A total of 11,544 second-trimester screening scans were performed before 24 weeks' gestation on 11,410 women between February 2004 and May 2007 in Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University. Fetal heart screening was based on four-chamber and outflow tract views (left ventricular outflow + three vessel view). The sensitivity and specificity of different views were evaluated. Follow-up data of newborns was obtained., Results: (1) Among 11,544 cases,48 cases of congenital heart disease (CHD) were diagnosed in utero. Six cases were false negative, and 2 cases were false positive. The incidence of CHD was 0.47% (54/11 544). (2) Thirty-three CHDs were detected based on the four-chamber view, including 18 ventricular septal defect (9 with conotruncal anomalies), 6 anomalous atrioventricle valve, 9 disproportion of left/right ventricle. The sensitivity of the four-chamber view alone was 61.11% (33/54), and the specificity was 99.98% (11 488/11 490). Fifteen CHDs were detected based on the left ventricular outflow and three vessel views, including 1 pulmonary atresia, 3 pulmonary valve stenosis, 2 transposition of the great arteries (TGA), 1 pulmonary stenosis with TGA, 6 tetralogy of Fallot, and 2 pulmonary stenosis. The sensitivity of the combination of the four-chamber and outflow tract views was 88.89% (48/54), and the specificity was 99.98% (11 488/11 490). (3) Of 48 CHDs, 11 cases were accompanied by other malformations. Eleven cases were performed amniocentesis, among whom 5 cases were trisomy 21., Conclusion: The screening program based on four-chamber and outflow tract views shows good sensitivity and excellent specificity. Our prenatal heart screening program is clinically feasible.

Objective: To investigate the effects of fluvastatin on activation of Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) and signal transducers and activators of transcription 1, 3 (STAT1, 3) in glomerular mesangial cells(GMCs) under high concentration of glucose., Methods: Rat GMCs were cultured in vitro, and they were treated with glucose and fluvastatin respectively. Tyrosine phosphorylation of JAK2 (p-JAK2) expression was detected by immunoprecipitation and Western blotting analysis. The protein expressions of JAK2, STAT1, p-STAT1, STAT3 and p-STAT3 were assessed by Western blotting. The protein synthesis of transforming growth factor-beta1 (TGF-beta1) and fibronectin (FN) in the supernatants of the GMCs were determined by enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay (ELISA). TGF-beta1 mRNA was assessed by reverse transcription and polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)., Results: Compared with low glucose control group, the expressions of p-JAK2 (802+/-124 vs.204+/-31), p-STAT1 (2,856.6+/-337.8 vs. 617.7+/-76.2), p-STAT3 (3,049.8+/-421.3 vs. 946.7+/-141.2) and TGF-beta1 mRNA were significantly up-regulated in GMCs under high glucose medium, and the concentration of TGF-beta1 in the supernatants [(2.87+/-0.34) microg/L vs. (1.20+/-0.11) microg/L] and FN [(6.34+/-0.61) mg/L vs. (3.24+/-0.26) mg/L, both P<0.01] were higher in the supernatants. The expression levels of p-JAK2 (412+/-67), p-STAT1 (1,178.4+/-137.1), p-STAT3 (1,572.6+/-181.2) and TGF-beta1 mRNA were significantly lower in fluvastatin group than those in high glucose group. The concentration of TGF-beta1 [(1.94+/-0.27) microg/L] and FN [(4.27+/-0.33)mg/L] in the supernatants in fluvastatin group were lower than those in high glucose control group (all P<0.05)., Conclusion: Fluvastatin can inhibit overproduction of TGF-beta1 and FN in GMCs under high concentration of glucose, the underlying mechanism may partly be attributable to its influence on phosphorylation of JAK/STAT.

Objective: To investigate the expression and implication of osteopontin (OPN) in renal cortex of diabetic rats., Methods: Experimental diabetes was reproduced in uninephrectomized rats by giving streptozotocin (STZ). The animals were divided into two groups: control group and diabetic group (each n=24). Immunohistochemistry and Western blotting were used to detect the protein expression of OPN, CD68, and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). At the same time the mRNA expression of OPN was detected by in situ hybridization., Results: Compared with control group, blood glucose, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), 24-hour urine protein quantum and quantification of OPN protein significantly increased while creatinine clearance rate (CCr) was significantly decreased in diabetic rat group 1, 2, 4 and 8 weeks after STZ injection. The protein of PCNA were also higher than that of control group 1 and 2 weeks after STZ injection (all P<0.05), and the increase in CD68 was observed at week 4 and week 8., Conclusion: Overexpression of OPN may be responsible for the proliferation of tubular cells at early stage of diabetic nephropathy and for the accumulation of macrophage at later stage.

Solid dispersions technique was used to solidify buagafuran and improve buagafuran in vitro dissolution and stability. Buagafuran solid dispersions were prepared separately using PVPK30, PEG6000 and Poloxamer188 at various weight ratios as carriers. The status of buagafuran in solid dispersions was determined by using DSC and IR. The solubility, content and in vitro dissolution of pure drug and the solid dispersions were detected by using HPLC. When buagafuran/carrier was 1:5 or less, the drug existed in a solid dispersion form. Three kinds of carriers all can improve buagafuran dispersibility and in vitro dissolution. Accelerating experiment showed that buagafuran/PVPK30 < or = 1:10 solid dispersions was ageing-resistant, and the aspect, content and in vitro dissolution did not change after storaged over 3 months, but PEG6000, Poloxamer188 and a lower ratio PVPK30 solid dispersions became aged. Buagafuran/PVPK30 < or = 1:10 solid dispersions can be developed as buagafuran oral drug delivery carrier.

This article summarizes the structure and hereditary characteristics of X chromosome, research progress of using multiplex PCR system to amplify X-chromosome specific short tandom repeat (X-STR) loci and its forensic applications. It also presents the advantages and disadvantages of X-STR loci in the practice of forensic medicine, with an aim to promote wider use of X-STR loci in forensic science.

In this study, the molecular marker technology of SRAP and ISSR were applied in rapid identification of seeds from eight species of Brassica oleracea L. Firstly, using the genomic DNA of cabbage as template, SRAP and ISSR reaction systems were optimized through testing every factor, respectively, that affects PCR amplification. Then, using the optimized reaction systems, 30 SRAP primer pairs and 15 ISSR primers were applied to amplify genomic DNA of cabbage, savoy, purple cabbage, borecole, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and kohlrabi The results showed that high polymorphisms were exhibited among the eight species of Brassica oleracea L. by SRAP primer pairs of M3-E5 and M4-E5, as well as ISSR primers of 844 and 888, especially primer 844 which can identify all eight materials efficiently.

Objective: To analyze the failure factors treating femoral shaft fracture with interlocking intramedullary nailing, and to offer the measures for prevention., Methods: From April 1999 to September 2002, among the 213 cases of femoral shaft fracture treated by interlocking intramedullary nailing, 18 were failure. The data of these cases were analyzed., Results: The failure cases were divided into 6 types: 3 cases with nail break-down, 7 with distal screw backing out, 3 with proximal screw backing out, 3 with fibrous ankylosis of knee, 2 with late infection. Failure relative factors were regarded to operation technique, incorrect rehabilitation choice of operative indication, quality of interlocking intramedullary nailing., Conclusions: An appropriate indication should be chosen as using interlocking intramedullary nailing for femoral shaft fracture. The skills should be mastered well. The suitable materials should be chosen carefully. And the rehabilitation exercises should be directed properly. All these are important measures for prevention.

Objective: To study the effects of Shenggu injection (SGI) on mRNA expression of vascular endothelia growth factor (VEGF) in rat osteoblasts in vitro and to explore its possible molecular mechanisms in promoting fracture healing., Methods: Rat osteoblasts cultured in vitro were stimulated with SGI according to the protocol. The expression levels of VEGF mRNA in the cells in every group were examined by reverse-transcriptase ploymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)., Results: When osteoblasts were stimulated with different concentrations of SGI for 5 days, the expression of VEGF mRNA peaked with 1 mg/ml SGI on the 5th day. When treated with 1 mg/ml SGI from the 1st to the 5th day, the expression of VEGF mRNA increased gradually with the increase of culturing time., Conclusion: SGI could promote significantly the expression of VEGF mRNA in rat osteoblasts in vitro. The levels of expression of VEGF mRNA changed along with different concentrations and stimulating time of SGI.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of bronchial artery embolization (BAE) with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) foam and gelatinum sponge (GS) for serious hemoptysis., Method: Of 46 patients with severe hemoptysis, BAE with only GS was performed in 21 cases and with both PVA and GS in 25 cases., Result: The total efficacy rate of BAE was 91.3%; and comparable between PVA+GS and GS groups (92.0%; vs 90.5%;, P>0.05). The total recurrence rate after BAE was 26.2%;, but lower in PVA+GS group than in GS group (11.3%; vs 42.1%;, P<0.05). No serious complications occurred in these patients after BAE., Conclusion: BAE is effective and safe for management of serious hemoptysis, and treatment with PVA+GS may effectively lower the recurrence rate.

The second nonligand binding chain of IL-6 receptor (IL-6R), the membrane glycoprotein with 130 kD mol wt (gp130), is responsible for the signal transduction of IL-6 biological activity. Our experiments indicated that the rat gp130 molecule, which was expressed in the rat acute myeloid leukemia cell line R2, could associate with the complex of rhIL-6 and membrane human IL-6R molecule and transduce the inhibition-inducing signal on R2 cells. In the present study, antisense oligonucleotides of rat gp130 were synthesized and uptaked into the R2 cells. Then the effects of the antisense or sense nucleic acids of rat gp130 on the inhibition induced by rhIL-6 in the R2 cell were investigated. Our results show that the antisense oligonucleotide of rat gp130 blocked the inhibitory effect of rhIL-6 on the R2 cells by (45 +/- 7)% at the optimal concentration
