In view of the defects of the new domestic T800 carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), such as lamellar tearing and fiber loss, which would be easily caused by large drilling force and torque during cutting, an experimental platform including a vertical ultrasonic machining center and force measurement system was constructed. Carbide twist drill, carbide candle stick drill and carbide dagger drill were used to compare the hole quality of T800 carbon fiber composite. Under the same technological parameters, the influences of three kinds of cutting tool structures on the cutting force, surface morphology of hole inlet and outlet, aperture deviation and surface roughness of T800 composite were compared with those of conventional drilling (CD). The ultrasonic vibration assisted drilling (UVAD) method was adopted to carry out feasibility experiments on optimum tool structure. The results show that the carbide dagger drill can effectively suppress the surface defects of T800 composite materials, but the entrance aperture accuracy is poor. The ultrasonic vibration assisted dagger drilling can further improve the quality of hole making, especially significantly improve the aperture accuracy by improving the drilling stability. In order to further improve the cutting performance, the micro texture tool was applied to the elliptical ultrasonic assisted cutting processes, and the influences on cutting force, tool wear and surface quality were analyzed. Then the influence laws of tool surface micro texture angle and size on tool wear were analyzed. The results show that the micro texture tool may further improve the cutting performance while retaining the excellent performance of elliptical ultrasonic assisted cutting, and according to the experimental results, the change of micro texture angle and size will affect the wear resistance of the tool, when the micro texture is parallel to the main cutting edge and the width is as 70 µm, spacing is as 70 µm, the tool bond wear is the smallest. To address the phenomenon that ultrasonic-assisted machining might improve the microstructural properties of high-strength aluminum alloy surfaces by forming micro-scoring surfaces on the workpiece surfaces, an experimental study on the microstructure of surfaces milled by single- excitation rotary ultrasonic longitudinal torsion composite milling was conducted: the effects of machining parameters on the water contact angle were analyzed based on the water contact angle theory and the kinematic theory of longitudinal torsion milling; secondly, a single-excitation ultrasonic longitudinal torsion milling test platform was built, and the orthogonal method was used to study the effects of different machining parameters on the surface roughness, milling forces and surface wetting performances. The results show that the surface quality is best when the ultrasonic amplitude is as 4 µm, and the cutting speed and feed are positively correlated with the surface roughness and water contact angle; the surface water contact angle under ultrasonic machining mode is larger than that of the normal mode, and the surface water contact angle machined by low amplitude is larger than that of high amplitude during ultrasonic machining. And the differences between the surface water contact angle machined by high amplitude and low amplitude are not significant when the speed reaches a certain amount. Suitable machining parameters under the ultrasonic longitudinal revise processing method may reduce the roughness of the machined surfaces and change the wettability of the surfaces. In order to further study the machining mechanism of ultrasonic micro-forging and the surface of the processed material， the ultrasonic micro-forging and strengthening machining of TC4 titanium alloy was taken as the research object， the semi-analytical method(SAM)based on Boussinesq solution and DC-FFT algorithm was used to establish the mathematical model of loading in the machining process and solve it， and the machining mechanism was analyzed and discussed. At the same time， the finite element model was established to analyze the complete machining process， verify the semi-analytical results， and compare it with the traditional rolling finishing machining. The results showed that the surface of ultrasonic micro-forging can form a certain depth of residual compressive stress layer and plastic deformation strengthening layer， and has better surface strengthening effect than the traditional rolling finishing strengthening. In ultrasonic vibration machining, the cutting force and cutting heat are significantly reduced, the tool wear is reduced, and the machining efficiency is improved. The ultrasonic vibration machining process is widely used for machining the difficult-to-machine materials, such as hard and brittle materials. In order to avoid the influence of tool load on the resonant frequency, the local resonance theory is used to divide the vibration system into two subsystems. The frequency equation of complex acoustic system is derived from the total input impedance equal to zero at the junction of the subsystems, and the size of vibration system is calculated. Calculated results show that the modal analysis results and the actual measured results are less than 3% deviation from the theoretical values, which meets the design requirements and verifies the correctness of the theoretical design of local resonance. The acoustic system designed by this method is not affected by the tool load, the fluctuation of force during processing is small, and the stability of the system is improved to some extent, indicating that the local resonance system has a good processing effect. The motion characteristics of separated longitudinal-torsional composite ultrasonic milling are analyzed based on the kinematics synthesis principle，and the essential characteristics of reducing the cutting force, promoting the chip removing and improving the tool life are elucidated. The dynamic model and the stability region analytical model of the separated longitudinal-torsional composite ultrasonic milling are constructed based on the theory of structural dynamics by considering the effects of longitudinal-torsional composite ultrasonic vibration. On the basis of that, the stability lobe diagram of cutting system is obtained by using the software MATLAB 7.1. the carbon fiber composite material is used for the experimental study. Ultrasonic elliptical vibration deep-hole boring method is successfully applied to precision cutting due to its superior performances, such as low cutting force, chatter suppression and high machining precision. The acoustic interface transfer theory is analyzed in order to give full play to the ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting and NC machining advantages. For the machining problem of complex inner hole with diameter-length ratio of greater than 20, a new processing method of NC adjustable diameter double edge ultrasonic elliptical vibration boring is put forward. The cutting contrast experiment proves that the ultrasonic vibration double-edge adjustable tool boring method has the advantages of high machining precision, high surface quality and chatter suppression compared with the traditional boring method. In the case of the same machining parameters, the diameter of machined deep hole is 16 mm, the diameter-length ratio is 23:1, the inner hole is 17 mm, and the ultrasonic boring surface roughness R a is 0.65 μm. The machining precision meets the design requirements, so the NC adjustable diameter ultrasonic elliptical tool boring is an effective method for deep hole machining. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
