Objective: In view of the improvement of the national standard method of distillation pretreatment, combined with the advantages of ion chromatography, a rapid determination of sulfite by microextract-ion chromatography in red wine was established. Methods: Sulfur dioxide was released by microextraction device, which was absorbed by sodium hydroxide solution to form sulfite, and then oxidized to sulfate. The samples were then filtered by 0.45 μm filter and determined by ion chromatograph. Results: The concentration of sulfite ion in range of 1.0~50 mg/L showed a linear relationship with the peak area, with correlation coefficient of 0.999 9, and the detection limit was 0.24 mg/L. The average recoveries of different levels of sulfate were 95.2%~99.1%, and the relative standard deviations (RSD) were 6.84%~8.65%. Conclusion: The method has the advantages of simple and fast pretreatment operation, reduced impurity interference significantly, and is suitable for the detection of batch samples.

CDDP (conserved DNA-derived polymorphism) and ITS (internal transcribed spacer) molecular markers were used to evaluate the genetic diversity among 17 cultivars of Camellia oleifera in Jiangxi Province, so as to provide a theoretical basis for the identification and utilization of local Camellia oleifera varieties. Our results indicated that 170 polymorphic bands were amplified by 17 CDDP primers among 204 bands, and the ratio of polymorphic band was 83.33%. The 17 cultivars of Camellia oleifera could be identified by primers ERF2, ERF3 and WRKYR1 respectively. The SM (simple matching) similarity coefficients among varieties ranged from 0.5506 to 0.8544 with an average of 0.7438. And according to the UPGMA cluster analysis, 17 cultivars of Camellia oleifera could be divided into 5 categories, and tend to cluster according to economic traits. ITS sequence analysis showed that, the overall average genetic distance of 17 cultivars of Camellia oleifera was 0.0702. NJ phylogenetic tree analysis indicated that the genetic relationship among 17 Camellia oleifera varieties could be obviously reflected in phenotypic traits. This study shows that CDDP molecular markers combined with ITS sequence analysis technology could be effectively used for genetic diversity analysis of Camellia oleifera. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

According to the definition of the resource-based industry chain and the study of its developing mode, the formation mechanism of the resource-based industry chain was discussed and three agents of the chain, product, value and knowledge were put forward. It emphasizes that industry chain is the material reflection, the value chain is the core power and knowledge chain is the key factor of the formation of resource-based industry chain. In addition, the relationship between three factors and the development of the chain was analyzed. Besides, the transmission mechanism of the resource-type industry chain was studied. It points out that the way of obtaining the added value of resource-type industry chain is to prolong the chain, resource-based industry chain transmission is through the realization of both price mechanism and multiplier effect, price mechanism and multiplier theory is the benefit transmission mechanism of resource-type industry chain. Through the industry linkage analysis of coal and related industries, three basic types of coal industry chain were brought forward. Gave the evaluation method of the industry chain efficiency based on date envelopment analysis (DEA), evaluated the operating efficiency of coal industry chain of 19 regions in China. It turns out that different provinces are different in the coal industry chain efficiency, and the eastern provinces are higher than the middle and western regions. Sea buckthorn(Hippophae rhamnoides) is widely distributed, with abundant resources, a long history of application, and rich nutrition and high medicinal value. Therefore, it has attracted extensive attention from researchers at home and abroad. The focus of attention is mainly on sea buckthorn fruit, but with weak research and development of sea buckthorn leaves. In order to develop and utilize abundant resources of sea buckthorn leaves, this paper systematically reviewed domestic and foreign literatures and summarized the current application, harvesting and processing, chemical constituents and pharmacological activities of sea buckthorn leaves. Sea buckthorn leaves have a wide development and utilization value in food raw materials(like a substituting-for-tea plant), pharmaceutical raw materials and animal feed. Modern studies have shown that the leaves of sea buckthorn are rich in polysaccharides, flavonoids, polyphenols, triterpenes and steroids, as well as vitamins(especially vitamin C), proteins, amino acids and mineral elements. It has various pharmacological effects, such as anti-obesity, hypoglycemia, anti-oxidation, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-cardiovascular diseases. Domestic and foreign studies have showed that sea buckthorn leaves have important development and utilization prospects, and are worth further study and development.

To scientifically evaluate the intervention effect of Chinese medicine preventive administration(combined use of Huo-xiang Zhengqi Oral Liquid and Jinhao Jiere Granules) on community population in the case of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19), a large cohort, prospective, randomized, and parallel-controlled clinical study was conducted. Total 22 065 subjects were included and randomly divided into 2 groups. The non-intervention group was given health guidance only, while the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) intervention group was given two coordinated TCM in addition to health guidance. The medical instructions were as follows. Huoxiang Zhengqi Oral Liquid: oral before meals, 10 mL/time, 2 times/day, a course of 5 days. Jinhao Jiere Granules: dissolve in boiling water and take after meals, 8 g/time, 2 times/day, a course of 5 days, followed up for 14 days, respectively. The study found that with the intake of medication, the incidence rate of TCM intervention group was basically maintained at a low and continuous stable level(0.01%-0.02%), while the non-intervention group showed an overall trend of continuous growth(0.02%-0.18%) from 3 to 14 days. No suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case occurred in either group. There were 2 cases of colds in the TCM intervention group and 26 cases in the non-intervention group. The incidence of colds in the TCM intervention group was significantly lower(P<0.05) than that in the non-intervention group. In the population of 16-60 years old, the incidence rate of non-intervention and intervention groups were 0.01% and 0.25%, respectively. The difference of colds incidence between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05). In the population older than 60 years old, they were 0.04% and 0.21%, respectively. The incidence of colds in the non-intervention group was higher than that in the intervention group, but not reaching statistical difference. The protection rate of TCM for the whole population was 91.8%, especially for the population of age 16-60(95.0%). It was suggested that TCM intervention(combined use of Huoxiang Zhengqi Oral Liquid and Jinhao Jiere Granules) could effectively protect community residents against respiratory diseases, such as colds, which was worthy of promotion in the community. In addition, in terms of safety, the incidence of adverse events and adverse reactions in the TCM intervention group was relatively low, which was basically consistent with the drug instructions.

Objective: Yang deficiency constitution may bring with different types of illnesses in many people. The present study was designed to observe the effect of ginger-separated snake moxibustion on yang deficiency symptom, and serum adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and cortisol (CORT) contents in yang deficiency constitution subjects, so as to explore its mechanism underlying improvement of yang deficiency constitution., Methods: Ninety subjects with yang deficiency type constitution were equally and randomly assigned to control A group (19 men and 26 women, 18－60 years in age) and moxibustion group (16 men and 29 women, 18－60 years in age) and 45 normal subjects with mild constitution (18 men and 27 women, 18－60 years in age) were assigned to control B group. An snake-like moxa-cone was placed at a moxa-holder covering the middle back of human body from Dazhui (GV 14) to Yaoshu (GV 2) after paving a layer (about 1 cm thick) of fresh ginger in the holder, and then ignited, followed by the next moxa-cone, 3 cones altogether every time for each participant. The treatment was conducted once a week, 12 times in total. The subjects' constitution was scored according to the "Classification and Evaluation of Constitution of Traditional Chinese Medicine" formulated by China Association of Chinese Medicine. The serum ACTH and CORT contents were measured by radioimmunoassay before and at the end of the treatment and 6 months after the treatment., Results: The constitation scores of the moxibustion group and control A group were significantly higher than that of the control B group before treatment ( P <0.01). At the end of the treatment, the constitution score was significantly decreased in the moxibustion group ( P <0.01) rather than in the control A group relevant to its own pre-treatment ( P >0.05). The serum CORT and ACTH contents were significantly decreased in both the moxibustion and control A groups in comparison to the control B group before treatment ( P <0.01), and obviously increased at the end of treatment in the moxibustion group compared with its own pre-treatment ( P <0.01). No significant differences were found among the three groups in the constitution score, and serum CORT and ACTH levels at the 6 th month after the treatment compared with their own post-treatment ( P >0.05)．., Conclusion: The ginger-separated snake moxibustion treatment may improve the constitution of yang deficiency participants by increasing the levels of serum ACTH and CORT, which may be helpful in resisting diseases.

Objective: To investigate relationship of miRNA-132, miRNA-256, miRNA-143 and miRNA-145 level with antophagy and apoptosis of multiple mgeloma cells., Methods: Human myeloma cell line U266 and normal CD138 + plasma cells were selected and used for study and detection, the 45 cases of MM were enrolled in MM group, and 40 normal persons were sellectod in control group. The expression of miRNA-132, miRNA-125b, miRNA-143 and miRNA-145 were measured by using qPCR, the expressions of autophagy-related protein (LC3-Ⅱ, LC3-Ⅰ, P62, beclin-1) and apoptosis-related molecules (cleaved-Caspase3, cleaved-Caspase7, BCL-2, BAX) were measured by using Western blot, respectively. The rate of apoptosis was measured by using flow cytometry. The correlation of miRNA expression level with clinical-related indexes including M protein, hemoglobin, β2-MG, lactate dehydrogenase, albumin, creatinine and serum calcium was analyzed., Results: Compared with normal plasma cells, the expression of miRNA-132 and miRNA-125b in myeloma cells increased significantly (P<0.05), and the expression of miRNA-143 and miRNA-145 decreased significantly (P<0.05), but the expression of LC3-Ⅱ/LC3-Ⅰ and Beclin-1 increased significantly (P<0.05). The expression of P62. BAX, cleaved-Caspase3 and cleaved-Caspase7 decreased significantly (P<0.05), the BCL-2 expression increased significantly (P<0.05), but the rate of apoptosis decreased (P<0.05). After transfection with miRNA-125b mimic or miRNA-143 inhibitor by using the cationic liposomes, the LC3-Ⅱ /LC3-Ⅰ of normal plasma cells increased significantly (P<0.05), the expression of Beclin-1 significantly increased (P<0.05), the expression of P62 decreased significantly (P<0.05), and the apoptosis rate decreased (P<0.05). However, the apoptosis rate was not significantly changed after addition of the autophagic inhibitor 3-MA in the reaction system(P>0.05). The expressions of miRNA-132, miRNA-125b, miRNA-143 and miRNA-145 were significantly different between DS and ISS staging group, also between the patients with abnormal and normal chromosome karyotype (P<0.05). The miRNA-125b and miRNA-143 significantly correlated with the levels of β2-MG, albumin and hemoglobin (P<0.05)., Conclusion: The expressions of miRNA-132, miRNA-125b, miRNA-143 and miRNA-145 in patients with multiple myeloma closely relate with the clinical characteristics. Both over-expression of miRNA-125b and down-expression of miRNA-143 inhibit the apoptosis of myeloma cells by up-regulation of autophagy.

Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effectiveness and side effects of decitabine combined with or without cytarabine-based low dose regimen for acute myeloid leukemia in geratic patients., Methods: Clinical data of 8 geratic patients (aged over 70 years) suffered from acute myeloid leukemia from September 2009 to March 2012 were analyzed retrospectively, including age, sex, peripheral blood and bone marrow characteristics and so on. These patients were treated by an 1-hour intravenous infusion of decitabine 20 mg/m 2 per day for 5 consecutive days every 4 weeks combined with or without low dose regimen dominantly consisting of cytarabine 20 mg per day as subcutaneous injection for seven consecutive days. The therapeutic effectiveness and side-effects were evaluated., Results: Among 8 patients, incinding 3 males and 5 females aged between 71-84 years old, their median white blood cell count was 31.2(1.38-179)× 10 9 /L, and median bone marrow blast cell ratio was 42.7(23-94)% at the initial diagnosis.The median treatment courses was 2.5 (1-20).After treatment by this protocol,2 patients achieved complete remission(CR) (25%), 2 patients achieved partial remission (PR)(25%), 3 were not relieved, and 1 died, thus the overall response rate reached to 50% (4/8). The median overall survival time was 9.5 (2-36) months, and the overall survival time of 3 patients reached 1 year or more. The main side-effects of treatment were grade III-IV of myelosuppression (87.5%) and pneumonia (50%)., Conclusion: Decitabine combined with or without cytarabine-based low dose regimen is promising for the treatment of geriatric acute myeloid leukemia, thus improving the overall response rate, and prolonging overall survival time.

Objective: To study the effect of the DA-EPOCH chemotherapy combined with G-CSF and the CTX therapy with G-CSF on mobilizing and collecting the peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cells and the later hematopoietic recovery., Methods: Forty patients accepted mobilization and collection of peripheral blood stem cells(PBSC) after treated by CTX+G-CSF and DA-EPOCH+G-CSF therapy respectively, and were treated by auto-transfusion after BEAM pre-regimen. The mobilization efficacy, adverse effects and hematopoietic recovery after autologous transplantation were analyzed retrospectively., Results: During the CTX+G-CSF mobilization, only one patient achieved the white blood cell(WBC) at 0.8×10 9 /L, while the others were with the lowest WBC level above 2.0×10 9 /L. The platelet counts were all normal with the exception of 3 cases at 80×10 9 /L. The median percentage of CD34 + cells in one period of collection was 0.99(0.35-1.30)%. The median MNC was (3.80±2.05)×10 10 . The cumulative total of mononuclear cell was (5.84±2.48)×10 8 /kg, and the median CD34 + cell count was 3.84(3.91-6.5)×10 6 /kg. During the DA-EPOCH+G-CSF mobilization, the peripheral WBC count of patients were decreased to the lowest level at (0.2-1.4)×10 9 /L. The platelet counts were all above 40×10 9 /L except for 1 case in which the platelet count was reduced to 8×10 9 /L. The median percentage of CD34 + cells in one period of collection was 0.85(0.34-1.2)%. The median MNC was (3.68±1.56)×10 10 . The cumulative total of mononuclear cells was (6.01±2.26)×10 8 /kg, and the median CD34 + cell count was 4.44(2.7-7.10)×10 6 /kg. There were no statistical differences between the 2 groups in the median percentage of CD34 + cells, the median MNC, the cumulative total of mononuclear cells and the median CD34 + cell counts (P>0.05). The average acquired time for granulocyte engraftment was 10.00(9.00-11.00) days, and for platelet engraftment was 12.50(11.00-17.25) days, with no statistical difference(P>0.05). No death occurred during the process of transplantation., Conclusion: DA-EPOCH therapy combined with G-CSF can effectively mobilize the peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cells in NHL patients with higher safety and lower price, and proves to be worth recommending in clinical use.

In order to in-situ detect the oil yield of oil shale, based on portable near infrared spectroscopy analytical technology, with 66 rock core samples from No. 2 well drilling of Fuyu oil shale base in Jilin, the modeling and analyzing methods for in-situ detection were researched. By the developed portable spectrometer, 3 data formats (reflectance, absorbance and K-M function) spectra were acquired. With 4 different modeling data optimization methods: principal component-mahalanobis distance (PCA-MD) for eliminating abnormal samples, uninformative variables elimination (UVE) for wavelength selection and their combina- tions: PCA-MD + UVE and UVE + PCA-MD, 2 modeling methods: partial least square (PLS) and back propagation artificial neural network (BPANN), and the same data pre-processing, the modeling and analyzing experiment were performed to determine the optimum analysis model and method. The results show that the data format, modeling data optimization method and modeling method all affect the analysis precision of model. Results show that whether or not using the optimization method, reflectance or K-M function is the proper spectrum format of the modeling database for two modeling methods. Using two different modeling methods and four different data optimization methods, the model precisions of the same modeling database are different. For PLS modeling method, the PCA-MD and UVE + PCA-MD data optimization methods can improve the modeling precision of database using K-M function spectrum data format. For BPANN modeling method, UVE, UVE + PCA-MD and PCA- MD + UVE data optimization methods can improve the modeling precision of database using any of the 3 spectrum data formats. In addition to using the reflectance spectra and PCA-MD data optimization method, modeling precision by BPANN method is better than that by PLS method. And modeling with reflectance spectra, UVE optimization method and BPANN modeling method, the model gets the highest analysis precision, its correlation coefficient (Rp) is 0.92, and its standard error of prediction (SEP) is 0.69%.

The effectiveness and safety of acupuncture-moxibustion for the treatment of agrypnia was systematically reviewed. The clinical randomized controlled trial (RCT) of acupuncture-moxibustion for agrypnia were collected. The literature and document on acupuncture-moxibustion RCT for the treatment of agrypnia that published from January of 2001 to March of 2012 was searched with computer in PubMed, CNKI, Wanfang and VIP database. According to Cochrane Handbook 5. 1. 0, the bias risk and quality assessment were performed on every included trial and RevMan 5. 0 software was applied to make the Meta analysis. Totally 14 researches were included, involving 2662 cases. The Meta analysis showed that the differences of total effective rate between acupuncture-moxibustion and clinical routine treatment were significant [RR = 1.16, 95% CI (1.12, 1.19), Z = 9.32, P < 0.000 01]. The results indicate that total effective rate of acupuncture-moxibustion for agrypnia is obviously superior to that of clinical routine treatment, meaning clinical efficacy of acupuncture-moxibustion is served credit.

Objective: To examine the characteristics of 'eating out' behavior among Chinese adults and to explore it related risk factors., Methods: Data in the present study was from the China Health and Nutrition Study(CHNS), including those from Liaoning, Henan and Hunan as sample provinces. 2 cities and 2 counties from each province and 2 urban communities and 2 suburban communities from each city plus communities from 1 township and 3 villages from each county were chosen. A final 1013 Chinese adults aged 18 to 59 years old who participated in the 2011 CHNS with complete individual information and were available in the present study period were involved in the study. 'Eating out behavior' was estimated through face-to-face interview on the items as:frequency, cost, ways of transportation and distance between restaurants, eating at fast food restaurants/Chinese full service restaurants/Chinese fast food restaurants/mobile food carts/cafes/canteens or other restaurants during the last week. Information on the amount of food intake was collected through three '24 h recalls'. We described the eating out behaviors by types of restaurants they had gone to and comparing eating out eaters and non-eating out eaters for a set of nutritional indicators in order to explore the risk factors related to 'eating out' behaviors., Results: 'Eating out' was defined as individuals who consumed at least once in restaurants per week. In all the 1013 adults, 51.72% from urban and 39.14% from rural were defined as having 'eating out' experiences. Proportions of eating out in western fast food restaurants, Chinese full service restaurants, Chinese fast food restaurants, mobile food carts, cafes, canteens and other restaurants were 1.68%, 23.49%, 12.93%, 10.37%, 1.09%, 10.07% and 4.34%, respectively. Energy, Ca, Fe and Zn intake were substantially higher among eaters eating at Chinese full service restaurants than those who had not,Energy, protein, fibers, Ca and Zn intake were higher among canteens eaters than those who did not. Age, gender, education, income and residential areas were associated with eating out behaviors., Conclusion: Eating out is a significant nutritional issue among Chinese adults. Education related to nutrition should be taken into account to guide healthy food choices for adults who eat out.

Objective: To examine the trend in meat consumption patterns between 1991 and 2011 in Chinese children in nine provinces(autonomous region) aged 6 to 17 years., Methods: A multistage, random cluster sampling process was used to investigate 2720, 2702, 2525, 2405, 1509, 1238, 1085, and 936 children and adolescents aged 6-17 years in 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2011 respectively in 9 provinces (autonomous region) in China. Their consecutive 3 d 24 h dietary recall data were analyzed to compare meat intake pattern in children and adolescents with different characteristics and different years., Results: The consumption rate increased from 60.9% (1657/2720) in 1991 to 87.2% (816/936) in 2011 for livestock meat (χ(2) = 458.23, P < 0.01), from 9.4% (257/2720) to 33.3% (312/936) for poultry (χ(2) = 446.07, P < 0.01) and from 27.3% (743/2720) to 40.6% (380/936) for seafood (χ(2) = 89.89, P < 0.01). The median of total meat intake increased from 47.4 g/d in 1991 to 100.0 g/d in 2011 (χ(2) = 516.77, P < 0.01), poultry intake from 33.3 g/d to 60.0 g/d (χ(2) = 420.13, P < 0.01), pork intake from 26.7 g/d to 50.0 g/d (χ(2) = 380.50, P < 0.01). The percentage of children whose livestock meat and poultry intakes higher than the recommended amount increased from 32.9% (896/2720) in 1991 to 59.8% (560/936) in 2011 (χ(2) = 392.97, P < 0.01); the percentage of children whose seafood intakes meeting the recommended amount increased from 6.9% (187/2720) in 1991 to 8.8% (82/936) in 2011 (χ(2) = 21.52, P < 0.01). The consumption rates of livestock meat in urban and rural children increased from 81.2% (536/660) and 54.4% (1121/2060) in 1991 to 94.7% (234/247) (χ(2) = 38.34, P < 0.01) and 84.5% (582/689) (χ(2) = 429.26, P < 0.01) in 2011. The intakes of livestock meat in rural children increased from 16.7 g/d in 1991 to 56.7 g/d in 2011 (χ(2) = 472.46, P < 0.01)., Conclusion: The overall pattern of meat consumption in Chinese children in nine provinces(autonomous region) was unreasonable between 1991 and 2011. There was a significant improvement in meat consumption in rural children over time.

Objective: To understand the daily calcium intake, food sources and the trends among Chinese children and adolescents aged 4 to 17 years from 1991 to 2009., Methods: Consecutive 3-day-24-hour dietary recall data from the seven waves of the China Health and Nutrition Survey(CHNS)was used to describe the status and trends of daily calcium intake and related food sources., Results: Between 1991 and 2009, the daily intake of calcium in Chinese children and adolescents showed an increasing trend. In 2009, the average intakes of calcium in Chinese boys and girls were 311.2 mg/d and 294.6 mg/d, respectively. 81.5%-87.6% of boys and 87.0%-91.0% of girls had their calcium intakes less than half of the recommended amount of adequate intakes. Only 0.2%-0.8% of boys and 0.1%-0.8% of girls had their calcium intakes equal or higher than the recommended amount of adequate intakes. The sources of dietary calcium were mainly from vegetables, legumes, cereals and milk products for Chinese children and adolescents, accounting for more than 70% of the average daily intakes., Conclusion: During the past two decades, the dietary calcium intake of Chinese children and adolescents still remained at lower level, suggesting that the optimal food sources of calcium were under-consumed.

Objective: To analyze the long-term shifts in fruit and vegetable intakes in Chinese children and adolescents between 1991 and 2009 and related impact from socio-economic factors on such dynamics., Methods: Data was from the seven waves of the China Health and Nutrition Survey. 12 596 children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years with full data of 3-day-24-hour dietary recall, together with related demographic and socioeconomic factors were chosen as the study subjects., Results: The consumption rates of fruits and vegetables showed an significant increasing trend, from 58.3% in 1991 to 82.4%, on dark-color vegetables(χ(2) = 213.2, P < 0.01), from 94.4% to 96.9% on light-color vegetable(χ(2) = 11.6, P < 0.0001)and from 12.6% to 45.4% for fruits(χ(2) = 571.2, P < 0.0001)in 2009. The median intake of total vegetables decreased from 250.0 g/d in 1991 to 225.8 g/d in 2009(χ(2) = 72.4, P < 0.0001) and the light-color vegetable decreased by 36.6 g/d. However, among the corresponding consumers, the fruit intake increased about 50.0 g/d (χ(2) = 104.2, P < 0.01)and the dark-color vegetable intake decreased about 40.0 g/d (χ(2) = 92.8, P < 0.0001 ). The proportion of children who reached the minimum intake of vegetable(300 g/d)recommended by Dietary Guidelines for Chinese 2007 decreased from 38.9% in 1991 to 26.8% in 2011 and the proportion of children who had met the minimum intake(200 g/d)increased from 2.0% to 13.9% . 25.1% of the children consumed dark-color vegetables more than half of the total vegetable intake. Schooling of the mother and family income had important impact on fruit consumption of the children., Conclusion: Rates on fruit and vegetable consumption showed an increasing trend among Chinese children and adolescents over the past 20 years. However, the vegetable intake significantly decreased and the fruit intake increased slightly. Chinese Children posed a greater risk on insufficient intake on both vegetables and fruits. Comprehensive and effective programs should be taken to increase vegetable and fruit intakes in order to improve the nutritional status of children.

Objective: To delineate the structure of Y chromosome aberrations and recombinant mechanisms for three patients., Methods: Karyotype analysis, multiplex ligation dependent probe amplification (MLPA), fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), Y chromosome sequence tagged sites (STS) analysis, human whole genome-wide SNP array were used., Results: The karyotypes of the three patients were 46, X, +mar. As suggested by MLPA analysis, case 1 has increased copy numbers of SRY, ZFY and UTY genes, case 2 had increased copies of SRY and ZFY genes, and deletion of UTY gene, and case 3 had decreased copies for subtelomeric regions of X/Yp and X/Yq. By STSs analysis, case 1 has retained SRY, sY84 and sY86 in the AZFa region, sY1227 in the AZFb region, whilst lost sY1228 in the AZFb region and other STSs in the AZFc region. Its breakpoint was thereby mapped between sY1227 and sY1228. Case 2 has retained SRY and sY1200 in the centromeric region, whilst has deletion of other STSs. Case 3 has retained SRY and STSs in the AZF regions. By SNP array, case 1 had duplicated Yp11.31-p11.2 and deletion of Yq11.22-q11.23 (approximately 5.18 Mb). Case 2 had duplicated Yp11.31-p11.2 and deletion of Yq11.21-q11.23 (approximately 14.644 Mb). Case 3 had single copy number deletion of p22.33 and q28 in the subtelomeric region of X/Yp and X/Yq. By FISH, cases 1 and 2 showed two signals for SRY and DYZ3 but no signal for DYZ1 on their marker chromosomes. Combining above results, the karyotypes of cases 1, 2 and 3 were determined as 46, X, idic(Y) (q11.23), 46, X, idic(Y) (q10) and 46, X, r(Y) (p11q12), respectively., Conclusion: Y chromosome aberrations are variable. Combined use of MLPA, STSs, FISH and SNP array is effective for revealing the breakpoints and recombinant mechanisms.

Objective: To examine the longitudinal association between red meat consumption and changes in body mass index(BMI), body weight and overweight risk in Chinese adults., Methods: Data from the open, prospective cohort study 'China Health and Nutrition Survey' (CHNS), 18 006 adults(47.5% males)were chosen as the study subjects who participated in at least one wave of survey between 1991 and 2009. Three-level(community-individual-measure occasion) mixed effect modeling was performed to investigate the effect of red meat consumption on BMI, body weight changes and risk of overweight. The average daily red meat intake was assessed using consecutive 3 d 24 h recalls., Results: In general, participants with higher red meat intake appeared to be those with younger age, higher personal income and higher education level, lower physical activities, higher total energy intake, smokers and alcohol drinkers. 3-level mixed-effects linear regression models showed that red meat intake was positively associated with changes in BMI and body weight. Compared to those who consumed no red meat, men and women in the highest quartile of red meat intake showed an increase of 0.17(95% CI:0.08-0.26, P < 0.0001)and 0.12 kg/m(2) (95%CI:0.02-0.22, P < 0.05) on BMI and increase of 596 g (95%CI:329-864, P < 0.0001) and 400 g (95%CI:164-636, P < 0.0001) on body weight, respectively, after adjustment for potential confounders (age, income, education, smoking, alcohol, physical activity level, community urbanization index and total energy intake). After adjustment for above confounders and baseline BMI, results from the 3-level mixed effect logistic model indicated that the odds ratios of being overweight in males and females who had the highest quartile of red meat intake were 1.21 (95%CI:1.01-1.46, P < 0.05)and 1.18(95% CI:1.01-1.37, P < 0.05) in comparison with non-consumers of red meat, respectively., Conclusion: Higher red meat intake was associated with increased BMI and body weight, as well as increased overweight risk.

When the spectra of the diffuse reflectance of low reflectivity samples or the transmittance of low transmisivity samples are measured by a portable near infrared (NIR) spectrometer, because there is the noise of the spectrometer, the smaller the reflectance or transmittance of the sample, the lower its SNR. Even if treated by denoise methods, the spectra can not meet the requirement of NIR analysis. So the equivalent spectrum measure method was researched. Based on the intensity of the reflected or transmitted signal by the sample under the traditional measure conditions, the light current of the spectrometer was enlarged, and then the signal of the measured sample increased; the reflected or transmitted light of the measure reference was reduced to avoid the signal of the measure reference over range. Moreover the equivalent spectrum of the sample was calculated in order to make it identical with the spectrum measured by traditional method. Thus the NIR spectral SNR was improved. The results of theory analysis and experiments show that if the light signal of the spectrometer was properly increased according to the reflected or transmitted signal of the low reflectivity or transmisivity sample, the equivalent spectrum was the same as the spectrum measured by traditional method and its SNR was improved.

In the present study, an innovative method is proposed, employing both wavelet transform and neural network, to analyze the near-infrared spectrum data in oil shale survey. The method entails using db8 wavelet at 3 levels decomposition to process raw data, using the transformed data as the input matrix, and creating the model through neural network. To verify the validity of the method, this study analyzes 30 synthesized oil shale samples, in which 20 samples are randomly selected for network training, the other 10 for model prediction, and uses the full spectrum and the wavelet transformed spectrum to carry out 10 network models, respectively. Results show that the mean speed of the full spectrum neural network modeling is 570.33 seconds, and the predicted residual sum of squares (PRESS) and correlation coefficient of prediction are 0.006 012 and 0.843 75, respectively. In contrast, the mean speed of the wavelet network modeling method is 3.15 seconds, and the mean PRESS and correlation coefficient of prediction are 0.002 048 and 0.953 19, respectively. These results demonstrate that the wavelet neural network modeling method is significantly superior to the full spectrum neural network modeling method. This study not only provides a new method for more efficient and accurate detection of the oil content of oil shale, but also indicates the potential for applying wavelet transform and neutral network in broad near-infrared spectrum analysis.

Objective: To examine and characterize the dietary patterns of Chinese adults in nine provinces., Methods: The subjects were selected from the 'China Health and Nutrition Survey' within age group of 18 - 70 years old in 2009. 24-hour dietary recall method for 3 consecutive days was used to collect information on food intake., Results: Major dietary patterns of Chinese adults in nine provinces were labeled "rice/pork" in both men and women while "fruit/egg", "beef, mutton/poultry"and "ethnic food/legumes" in men and "fruit/milk", "tubers/grains" in women. Urban or rural life style and related characteristics of the population showed an influence on the dietary pattern (men: β = -0.153 24, -0.153 24, 0.376 62, 0.148 10, P < 0.01; women: β = -0.139 43, 0.222 00, -0.308 36, P < 0.01)., Conclusion: The dietary patterns of Chinese adults varied by sex and "Rice/Pork" had been the typical dietary pattern among the Chinese adults.

Objective: To examine the trends of energy intake among Chinese children and adolescents in nine provinces from 1989 to 2009., Method: Stratified multi-stage cluster sampling method was used to recruit 488, 2807, 2802, 2580, 2520, 1604, 1305 and 1159 children and adolescents aged 6 - 17 years in each year of 1989, 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2009 in 9 provinces. The descriptive analyses were carried out for three days 24-h dietary recall data to compare energy intake by year and demographic characteristics., Results: The median of dietary energy intake among Chinese children and adolescents aged 6 - 17 years in 1989, 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2009 were 6645.7, 8314.8, 7849.3, 8115.0, 7970.5, 7598.0, 7345.0 and 7051.9 kJ/d (χ(2) = 239.75, P < 0.01), respectively. In 2009, children and adolescents from city (7820.4 kJ/d) and county (7356.0 kJ/d) consumed more energy than that from suburb (7168.2 kJ/d) and village (6863.5 kJ/d) (χ(2) = 8.00, P < 0.05). Cereal was the main food source of energy intake. In 2009, the percentage of energy intake from cereal was 44.0%, 45.6%, 52.9% and 61.0% (χ(2) = 36.75, P < 0.01)for city, suburb, county and village respectively. The percentage of population with > 30% of energy intake from dietary fat increased yearly and that with more than 60% of energy from carbohydrate decreased, from 25.4% (124/488) and 54.1% (264/488) in 1989 to 58.1% (637/1159) and 15.9% (184/1159) (χ(2) values were 811.24, 919.35 respectively;both P values < 0.05) in 2009. The percentage of children and adolescents whose energy intake was more than 80% recommended nutrient intake (RNI) declined from 60.2% (294/488) in 1989 to 47.8% (554/1159) in 2009(χ(2) = 227.66, P < 0.05)., Conclusion: The current study demonstrated that energy intake of Chinese children and adolescents increased at early stage and then declined in the recent years. Average energy intake was higher in city and county than suburb and village.

Objective: To study the current status and trends of fat and cholesterol intake among Chinese children and adolescents in 9 provinces from 1991 to 2009, so as to provide evidence on dietary guidance., Methods: Data was collected in 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2009 from the China Health and Nutrition Survey. Sample would include 7 - 17 years old healthy children and adolescents with a complete 3-day 24-hour-dietary data. Figures on the intake of fat, cholesterol, mean percentage of energy from fat and food source of fat per capita were calculated and compared with the Chinese Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs)., Results: Data showed that, in 1991 - 2009, the dietary fats, mean percentage of energy from total fat and intake of cholesterol had an increasing trend in the population of 9 provinces and were 65.8 g/d, 240.0 mg/d and 32.0% respectively, in 2009. The percentage of population whose mean energy coming from total fat and reached 57.0% in 2009., Conclusion: The dietary structure of children and adolescents in Chinese 9 provinces had changed significantly. 57.0% of the studied subjects had more than 30% increase of their fat intake exceeding the Chinese DRIs. It was necessary to provide children and adolescent with basic knowledge on nutrition, in order to properly control the intake of food rich in fat and cholesterol.

Objective: To examine status and trend in dietary vitamin C intake between 1991 and 2009 in Chinese children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years., Methods: A stratified multistage, random cluster sampling process was used to investigate 2716, 2691, 2507, 2358, 1490, 1218 and 1073 children and adolescents aged 6 - 17 years in 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2009 respectively in 9 provinces. Their consecutive 3 d 24 h dietary recall data were analyzed to compare vitamin C intake in children and adolescents with different characteristics and different years., Results: The median of dietary vitamin C intake in Chinese children and adolescents decreased from 69.7 mg/d in 1991 to 53.4 mg/d in 2009 (χ(2) = 188.1, P < 0.01). Vitamin C intake of rural children and adolescents decreased from 73.7 mg/d in 1991 to 52.5 mg/d in 2009 (χ(2) = 96.7, P < 0.01); vitamin C intake of children and adolescents in the low-income household decreased from 74.3 mg/d in 1991 to 47.5 mg/d in 2009 (χ(2) = 172.9, P < 0.01). The percentage of children and adolescents whose vitamin C intake equal or higher than recommended nutrient intake of vitamin C decreased from 35.9% (974/2716) in 1991 to 18.5% (198/1073) in 2009 (χ(2) = 284.7, P < 0.01)., Conclusion: There was a decreased trend in dietary vitamin C in Chinese children and adolescents during the past two decades. The children and adolescents of low-income household in rural areas may pose a higher risk of inadequate vitamin C intake.

Objective: To understand the daily calcium intake and the dietary sources, as well as its trends from 1991 to 2009 in Chinese elderly aged 50 years and over., Methods: Consecutive 3 d-24 hr Dietary Recall Data from the seven waves of the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) was used to describe the status and trends of daily calcium intake and its food sources., Results: Between 1991 and 2009, the daily intake of calcium in the Chinese elderly showed an increasing trend. In 2009, the average intakes of calcium in Chinese elderly men and women were 400.2 mg/day and 352.7 mg/day, respectively. 72.0% - 82.2% of males and 78.8% - 88.0% of females had their calcium intake less than half of the recommended amount of adequate intakes, but only 0.4% - 3.9% of males and 0.4% - 3.0% of females had their calcium intake equal or higher than the recommended amount of intakes. The sources of dietary calcium were mainly from vegetables, legumes, and cereals for the Chinese elderly, accounting for more than 70% of the average daily intakes., Conclusion: During the past twenty years, the average daily calcium intake of the Chinese elderly still remained at low level while the optimal calcium sources as milk and legumes, were under-consumed.

It is impossible to use present measurement methods for the oil yield of oil shale to realize in-situ detection and these methods unable to meet the requirements of the oil shale resources exploration and exploitation. But in-situ oil yield analysis of oil shale can be achieved by the portable near infrared spectroscopy technique. There are different correlativities of NIR spectrum data formats and contents of sample components, and the different absorption specialities of sample components shows in different NIR spectral regions. So with the proportioning samples, the PLS modeling experiments were done by 3 formats (reflectance, absorbance and K-M function) and 4 regions of modeling spectrum, and the effect of NIR spectral format and region to the precision of PLS model for oil yield from oil shale was studied. The results show that the best data format is reflectance and the best modeling region is combination spectral range by PLS model method and proportioning samples. Therefore, the appropriate data format and the proper characteristic spectral region can increase the precision of PLS model for oil yield form oil shale.

Objective: To detect NF1 gene mutation in a patient with neurofibromatosis type 1., Methods: Five fragments encompassing the entire coding sequence of the NF1 gene were amplified with reverse transcription PCR. PCR products were directly sequenced. Suspected mutations were verified by sequencing of DNA amplified by PCR using genomic DNA as template. Corresponding exon of family members was also sequenced. Furthermore, the PCR products were inserted into a pGEM-T cloning vector to quantify cells carrying the mutation in different samples derived from the three embryonic layers., Results: The proband's clinical manifestation was consistent with neurofibromatosis type 1. Sequence analysis has identified a novel heterozygous mutation c.7911 C to T (p.Q2510X) in exon 51 of the NF1 gene in the proband. The same mutation was also detected in peripheral blood cells, uroepithelial cells and oral mucosal cells of the proband, though the signals of uroepithelial cells were significantly weaker. By T cloning-sequencing, recombinants carrying the NF1 gene mutation respectively accounted for 42%, 36% and 12% of all peripheral blood cells, oral mucosal cells and uroepithelial cells ., Conclusion: It is likely that a mutation of NF1 gene has occurred in early embryogenesis of the proband, which in turn has led to generalized mosaicism of neurofibromatosis type 1.

Objective: To examine dietary protein intake and its trend between 1991 and 2009 among Chinese children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years., Methods: Consecutive 3 d-24 hr Dietary Recall and household income data of 14 053 children from the seven waves of the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS), 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2009 were used to describe long-term changes in dietary protein intake, percentage energy, and food sources., Results: The median of dietary protein intake of Chinese children and adolescents decreased from 60.0 g/d in 1991 to 52.6 g/d in 2009 (χ² = 109.0, P < 0.01). The dietary protein intake among children in rural areas and in low-income households decreased 8.8 g/d (χ² = 74.8, P < 0.01) and 9.8 g/d (χ² = 100.5, P < 0.01) respectively. The percentage of total energy intake from protein was 11.3%-13.0%. The percentage of protein intake equal or higher than Recommended Nutrient Intake of protein decreased from 29.5% in 1991 to 19.2% in 2009 (χ² = 259.6, P < 0.01). Furthermore, the proportion of high-quality dietary protein increased rapidly. The percentage of animal protein increased from 12.3% in 1991 to 32.2% in 2009 (χ² = 750.3, P < 0.01), while no big increase in soybean protein (lower than 5.0%)., Conclusion: There is a decreasing trend in dietary protein intake among Chinese children from 1991 to 2009. The high-quality protein intake was improved but we should be concerned about the high proportion of animal protein. The children living in low-income households and in rural areas may be at risk of inadequate dietary protein.

Objective: To explore the status and trend of cereal consumption among Chinese adults aged 18 to 59 years in nine provinces (municipality) from 1989 to 2006., Methods: The survey data were collected by consecutive 3 d 24 h dietary recall method in 1989, 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004 and 2006 China Health and Nutrition Survey Project. The subjects aged 18-59 years with complete information on dietary survey were included. The sample number of the subjects were 5978, 7566, 7492, 7738, 8439, 7484 and 7157 in the 7 round surveys from 1989 to 2006, respectively. The trends of their cereal consuming rate and daily intake were analyzed by year, gender, age and regions., Results: The cereal intake of 18 - 59 years old Chinese adults in 9 provinces (municipality) decreased from 522.3 g/d in 1989 to 431.9 g/d in 2006 (χ(2) = 2421.76, P < 0.01). The cereal intake of males decreased from 545.6 g/d in 1989 to 471.6 g/d in 2006 (χ(2) = 861.21, P < 0.01) and females decreased from 500.3 g/d in 1989 to 395.5 g/d in 2006 (χ(2) = 1844.13, P < 0.01). Compared with 1989, the average cereal consumption were reduced to 104.8, 134.4, 103.3 and 98.2 g in the suburban, female, 18 to 29 years old age group and level of education for college and above separately in 2006. The rice consuming rate among 18 - 59 year-old residents increased from 79.9% (4776/5978) in 1989 to 87.3% (6248/7157) (Z = 18.45, P < 0.01) in 2006, the wheat consuming rate increased from 63.3% (3784/5978) in 1989 to 80.2% (5740/7157) (Z = 27.28, P < 0.01) in 2006., Conclusion: The present study indicated that there was a decreasing trend of cereal intake among Chinese adults aged 18 - 59 years in 9 provinces (municipality). In the stratified groups, cereal intake in groups of female, suburb, aged 18 - 59 years and higher educational level decreased significantly.

Objective: To analyze the trends of food consumption among Chinese residents aged from 18 to 59 years old in 9 provinces (autonomous region) from 1989 to 2006., Methods: The paper was based on data collected in 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004 and 2006 China Health and Nutrition Survey of Chinese residents of 24 h in three consecutive day dietary recall data. The healthy residents aged 18 - 59 years with twenty-four-hour dietary recall data were selected as study subjects. The sample sizes of these seven surveys were 5766, 7296, 7019, 7599, 8143, 7168 and 6827, respectively. The trends of their food consumption in each year were analyzed through Kruskal-wallis method., Results: The intake of cereals decreased significantly from (528.5 ± 192.9) g/d in 1989 to (427.7 ± 173.8) g/d in 2006 (χ(2) = 2833.13, P < 0.01). The minor variation of soybean food intake was observed. The average intake was (22.3 ± 39.4) g/d in 1989 and (18.9 ± 30.5) g/d in 2006 which was still at a low level. The trend of vegetables intake showed a small decrease. It was (374.5 ± 205.9) g/d in males and (346.4 ± 187.6) g/d in females in 2006, respectively. Both quantity and rate of fruits consumption showed an increase trend. Its consumption rate reached at 22.5% (741/3296) in males and 27.7% (1004/3619) in females in 2006, respectively. The average intake increased from (122.4 ± 126.9) g/d in 1989 to (228.5 ± 267.3) g/d in 2006 (χ(2) = 539.66, P < 0.01). At the same time, the daily intake of meat and egg showed a large increase, the average meat intake increased from (97.0 ± 111.5) g/d in males and (80.2 ± 97.0) g/d in females in 1989 to (141.5 ± 125.2) g/d in males and (118.4 ± 111.8) g/d in females in 2006, respectively. The oil consumption showed a significant increase. The average intake increased from (30.4 ± 37.9) g/d in 1989 to (42.8 ± 32.3) g/d in 2006 (χ(2) = 1646.94, P < 0.01)., Conclusions: There have been noticeable changes in the Chinese dietary pattern in the past 17 years. Some changes would be helpful for nutritional improvement in Chinese people, but it also caused some adverse effects on health because of improper food consumption.

Objective: To investigate milk consumption and effects on dietary nutrients and growth status among 7 - 17 years-old Chinese children in 9 provinces (autonomous region) from 1991 to 2006., Methods: Data was collected in 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004 and 2006 China Health and Nutrition Survey, and 11 691 subjects aged 7 to 17 years old were included. The subjects were divided into the following groups according to milk consumption per day, 0 (no milk drinking), 1 - 99, 100 - 199, 200 - 299 and ≥ 300 g/d. Variables from different years were compared, such as milk categories, energy, protein, calcium intake, body mass index (BMI), as well as that dietary nutrients, height and weight among different milk consumption groups., Results: From 1991 to 2006, milk drinking rate and milk consumption among Chinese children had great improvement: milk drinking rate reached to 14.1% (161/1145) in 2006, while that was 3.0% (73/2441) in 1991; milk consumption reached to (26.7 ± 85.0) g/d in 2006, which was 6.8 times of that in 1991 (3.9 ± 31.9) g/d (χ(2) = 474.5, P < 0.01). BMI increased from (17.3 ± 2.9) kg/m(2) in 1991 to (18.5 ± 6.0) kg/m(2) in 2006 (χ(2) = 123.5, P < 0.01). Meanwhile, energy intake decreased from (8653.3 ± 2789.2) kJ/d in 1991 to (8058.3 ± 2866.6) kJ/d in 2006 (χ(2) = 72.6, P < 0.01); protein intake decreased from (63.0 ± 22.8) g/d in 1991 to (57.3 ± 23.1) g/d in 2006 (χ(2) = 71.9, P < 0.01). Average height of 0 (no milk drinking), 1 - 99, 100 - 199, 200 - 299 and ≥ 300 g/d groups were (142.9 ± 16.9), (146.9 ± 18.8), (147.6 ± 16.2), (148.8 ± 16.0), (149.9 ± 15.3) cm, respectively (χ(2) = 29.4, P < 0.01); average weight were (37.1 ± 13.2), (40.3 ± 13.9), (41.3 ± 16.9), (41.7 ± 14.6), (41.4 ± 12.2) kg, respectively (χ(2) = 25.7, P < 0.01)., Conclusion: In the period of 1991 to 2006, milk drinking rate and milk consumption has improved greatly. Main nutrient intake, height and weight increased with milk consumption.

Objective: To analyze the status and trend of dietary fiber intake and its food sources among Chinese residents aged 18 - 45 years old in 9 provinces (autonomous region), from 1989 to 2006., Methods: Twenty-four-hour dietary recall data of three consecutive days from China Health and Nutrition Survey (1989, 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004 and 2006) were used. And the 18 - 45 years old subjects with complete information on dietary survey were included. The sample size of these 7 surveys were 5597, 5596, 5323, 5485, 5308, 4144 and 3889, respectively. The trends of dietary fiber intake and food sources by time and sex were studied., Results: From 1989 to 2000, the total of daily dietary fiber intake of 18 - 45 years old healthy residents decreased from 15.1 g/d to 11.6 g/d, insoluble dietary fiber intake decreased from 22.6 g/d to 17.8 g/d. In villages, from 1989 to 2000, the insoluble dietary fiber intake decreased 5.1 g/d in males and 5.2 g/d in females(13.2, 11.8 g in 2000, respectively;18.3, 17.0 g in 1989, respectively). In 2006, the insoluble dietary intake was 12.6 g/d in males and 11.2 g/d in females in villages. In cities, from 1989 to 2006, the insoluble dietary fiber intake was 9.4 - 11.8 g/d in males and 8.3 - 10.8 g/d in females. The total dietary fiber intake was 15.7 - 17.6 g/d in males and 13.5 - 16.4 g/d in females. The difference of insoluble and total dietary fiber intake between city and village was decreasing. In 2006, 70.6% (8.4/11.9) insoluble dietary fiber came from vegetables ((4.1 ± 3.1) g/d), wheat flour and its products ((2.6 ± 3.6) g/d), rice and its products ((1.7 ± 1.3) g/d)., Conclusion: Dietary fiber intake among Chinese aged 18 - 45 in 9 provinces (autonomous region) decreased from 1989 to 2006. Vegetables, wheat flour, rice and their products were the major food sources of insoluble dietary fiber.

Objective: To analyze the status of dietary sodium intake of 18 - 65 years old Chinese people in nine provinces (autonomous region) in 1991 and 2006., Methods: In 1991 and 2006, China Health and Nutrition Survey was carried out in nine provinces, including Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, Henan, Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi and Guizhou, Subjects were selected by multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method from 18 - 65 years old people and 8235 subjects in 1991 and 7788 subjects in 2006. Sodium intake analysis was conducted across gender, regions and rural(urban) residences., Results: On average, sodium intake decreased from (6750.6 ± 3771.5) mg/d in 1991 to (4949.7 ± 2829.4) mg/d in 2006 (Z = -35.5, P < 0.01) among the 18 - 65 years old people. In 1991 and 2006, the main sources of dietary sodium were salt, soy sauce and vegetable. In 1991, the proportion were 79.6% ((5375.6 ± 3532) mg/d), 8.7% ((586.7 ± 721.7) mg/d) and 7.5% ((506.9 ± 906.1) mg/d), respectively. In 2006, the proportion were 71.5% ((3539.8 ± 2545) mg/d), 8.3% ((410.7 ± 547.9) mg/d) and 6.2% ((304.6 ± 610.7) mg/d), respectively., Conclusions: Among 18 - 65 years old residents, sodium intake in 2006 was significantly lower than that in 1991, but still far beyond the 2200 mg/d of adequate intake level (2200 mg/d). The major source of sodium intake in Chinese diet was condiments.

Objective: To investigate the effect of transplantation of bone-marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) on the immune functions of aging rats., Methods: Healthy SD rats were randomized into normal control, aging model group and MSCs group. The aging model was established by daily subcutaneous injection of D-galactose for 4 consecutive months. MSCs were isolated from the bone marrow of adult SD rats and injected (3×10(6) MSCs) in rats in the MSCs group via the tail vein once a week for 4 weeks. The spleen index, activity of T lymphocytes and the levels of IL-2 and IL-10 in spleen were measured, and the pathological changes of the spleen were observed after the treatments., Results: MSCs transplantation enhanced the cellular immune function of aging rats manifested by obviously increased spleen index, activity of T lymphocyte and the level of IL-2, and lowered level of IL-10 in the spleen. The rats in the aging model group showed serious spleen injury, which was obviously lessened by MSCs injection., Conclusion: MSCs transplantation can improve the cellular immune function of aging rats and ameliorate spleen injury induced by D-galactose.

Objective: To investigate the trend of milk consumption among Chinese children and adolescents in 9 provinces from 1991 to 2006., Methods: The paper was based on data collected in the China Health and Nutrition Survey in 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006 and the subjects aged 7 to 17 years old with complete 24-hour-dietary data for 3 days. Milk consumption in this paper was defined as intake of fresh milk, powdered milk or yogurt, excluding other milk products and milk drinks., Results: There were increasing trends of milk drinking rate and average amount of milk consumption per day in the period of 1991 - 2006, in which milk drinking rate among Chinese children and adolescents increased from 2.88% in 1991 to 13.88% in 2006. The average milk consumption per day increased from 3.90 g/day in 1991 to 26.11 g/day in 2006. There were significant differences regarding milk consumption, both on regional and economic levels. Although milk intake had been increasing in the past 15 years, there was still huge gap between the amount of consumption and the criterion of 300 g/day, proposed by the Chinese Dietary Guidelines (2007). The prevalence of dietary calcium intake under Adequate Intake value was still over 97%, indicating the need of more efforts to be made., Conclusion: The condition of milk intake was improved significantly from 1991 to 2006. However, there was widespread deficiency in milk consumption among Chinese children and adolescents, calling for strengthening the macro-control, optimizing the production and conducting education on nutrition, and improving milk consumption among the Chinese children and adolescents.

Objective: To identify ABCD1 gene mutation in a Chinese family with three heterozygous female patients., Methods: Four fragments covering the entire coding sequence of the ABCD1 gene from one of the female patients were amplified by reverse transcription-PCR. The PCR products were directly sequenced. The result of sequencing was confirmed by restriction enzyme digestion of PCR products from genomic DNA. Human ABCD1 gene and ALD protein were aligned with those of rat, monkey, mouse and cattle by Clustal X 1.83. Softwares of Motif Scan, TMpred and ESYpred3D were used to predict the effect of the mutation on the structure of the ALD protein., Results: A novel missense mutation, CAC to CGC, was found at codon 283 of the ABCD1 gene from the patient, resulting in the replacement of histidine by arginine. This mutation abolished an Msl I site in the gene. Her son was free from this mutation. The mutated amino acid residue (283H) was highly conservative in evolution, and the mutation caused a dramatic change in the structure of the ALD protein., Conclusion: Three female patients heterozygous for ABCD1 gene mutation were first reported in China, and a novel mutation, p.H283R, was identified in this X-ALD family.

Background and Objective: Histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi) exert antitumor effects through the induction of apoptosis. This study was to investigate the effects of HDACi on survivin gene expression, cell proliferation and apoptosis in human myeloma cell line U266., Methods: U266 cells were exposed to different concentrations of MS-275, a histone deacetylase inhibitor, at different time courses. Cell viability was measured using the trypan blue exclusion assay. Changes in cell morphology were observed with Wright-Giemsa staining. Cell cycle was analyzed using flow cytometry. Protein expressions of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), caspase-3, survivin, P21 and CDK4 were detected by Western blot., Results: MS-275 inhibited the growth of U266 cells in a dose-and time-dependent manner. After exposure to 1.39 micromol/L MS-275 for 48 h, the cell cycle was arrested at the G0/G1 phase, and the cell viability was decreased by 50%. After the treatment with 2 micromol/L MS-275 for 24 h and 36 h, the ratios of U266 cells at the G0/G1 phase were increased to 66.39% and 89.80%, respectively. Obvious changes in morphology of U266 were observed under microscopy. Cleaved PARP appeared, along with an increased protein level of P21 and a decrease of survivin and CDK4 levels in U266 cells treated with MS-275., Conclusion: MS-275 could suppress the proliferation, induce apoptosis and reduce the expression of survivin in human myeloma cell line U266, which may be associated with the down-regulation of survivin.

Objective: To describe the changes of waist circumference distribution and the prevalence of abdominal adiposity on Chinese adults aged 20-65, from 1993 to 2006., Methods: This paper was based on the data collected in the China Health and Nutrition Survey in 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004 and 2006, and the subjects were men and women from 20 to 65 years old. Using the LMS method to construct the 15th, 50th, and 85th percentile waist circumference percentile curves. The recommended cut-off points for abdominal adiposity were 85 cm and above for males and 80 cm and above for females, suggested in the "Guidelines for Overweight and Obesity Prevention and Control for Chinese Adults" in defining abdominal adiposity., Results: Compared with 1993, the 2006 waist circumference distribution curves flattened and expanded at higher levels in males and females. The waist circumference increased from 77.1 cm to 82.9 cm among males and from 75.8 cm to 78.9 cm among females. A gradient of increasing prevalence of abdominal obesity was also observed in both sexes. In males, the prevalence increased from 17.9% to 42.5% while in females, it increased from 28.8% to 46.9%. Similar trends of increasing waist circumference and abdominal obesity were observed in underweight, normal weight, overweight and obesity. Subjects defined by body mass index (BMI) suggesting that primary prevention of abdominal obesity should be viewed as one of the major public health problems in China., Conclusion: This study indicated that the rapid increase in waist circumference among Chinese adults from 1993 to 2006. A gradient of increasing prevalence of abdominal obesity was also observed in males and females. Unless measures are taken to slow the increase in the course of the abdominal adiposity epidemic, the burden of obesity associated morbidity and mortality in the Chinese can be expected to increase in future years.

Objective: To investigate methods for prenatal molecular diagnosis of fetuses at high risk for X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD)., Methods: The amniotic fluid was obtained and genomic DNA was isolated from amniotic fluid cells. Maternal contamination was evaluated by paternity test. PCR-RFLP, sequencing and denaturing high performance liquid chromatography (DHPLC) were used to detect the ABCD1 gene of fetal genome., Results: In the pedigree 1, the PCR product (799 bp) of the fetus 1 and her father (normal control) could be digested with BcnI. No P560L mutation, which was present in the index patient, was detected in the ABCD1 gene from the genomic DNA of the fetus 1 using direct sequencing. In the pedigree 2, the PCR product (232 bp) of the fetus 2 and her father could not be digested with MaeI and no Q177X mutation, which was present in the propositus, was detected in the ABCD1 gene from the genomic DNA of the fetus 2 using direct sequencing. In the pedigree 3, the PCR product (271 bp) was digested with AciI, the pattern of the fetus 3 and the propositus being the same, and the R617C mutation was found in the ABCD1 gene from the genomic DNA of the fetus 3 using direct sequencing. In the pedigree 4, the PCR product (269 bp) was analyzed with the DHPLC, and the pattern of elution peaks of the fetus 4 and her father was similar, but different from that of the propositus. No K276E mutation was detectable in the ABCD1 gene from the genomic DNA of the fetus 4 by using direct sequencing. Judging from the sex of the fetuses, fetuses 1 and 2 were normal homozygotes, fetus 3 was an ALD hemizygote, and fetus 4 was a normal hemizygote., Conclusion: A new protocol for X-ALD prenatal molecular diagnosis is proposed, which would ensure the accuracy of prenatal diagnosis.

Objective: To analyze the etiological diagnosis and efficacy of specific therapy of chronic cough., Methods: Totally 106 patients with chronic cough were diagnosed using a diagnostic protocol based on the Guideline on Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Cough established by China Medical Association, which included history inquiry, physical examination, pulmonary function tests, X-ray or CT of paranasal sinuses or chest, 24-hour esophageal pH monitoring, and sputum cell differentials. The etiological diagnosis was made according to clinical manifestations, examination results, and response to specific therapy., Results: The cause of chronic cough was confirmed in 101 patients (95.3%). Cough due to a single cause was found in 81 patients (80.2%), and due to multiple causes in 20 patients (19.8%). The causes included cough variant asthma (CVA) in 66 patients (62.3%), postnasal drip syndrome (PNDs) in 15 patients (14.1%), gastroesophageal reflux (GERC) in 11 patients (10.4%), post-infection cough (PIC) in 4 patients (3.8%), angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) induction in 3 patients (2.8%), and eosinophilic bronchitis (EB) in 2 patients (1.9%). Five patients (4.7%) had not been definitely diagnosed. After specific therapy based on diagnosis, cough disappeared in 92 patients (91.1%) and alleviated in 9 patients (8.9%)., Conclusions: CVA, PNDs, and GERC are the most common causes of chronic cough. Specific therapy based on definite cause can result in good outcome.

Objective: DNA fingerprinting for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients and healthy subjects was carried out to compare the difference of intestinal flora between the two groups., Methods: DNA fingerprinting for IBD patients and healthy persons was set up with enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus (ERIC-PCR) technology and the difference of intestinal flora between the two groups compared., Results: DNA fingerprinting of the IBD patients and healthy subjects was identified and a significant difference was noticed between them. There were lots of bands in the DNA fingerprinting of the healthy subjects but few in that of the IBD patients. Strikingly, same distribution of the principal band of DNA fingerprinting was noticed in IBD patients., Conclusions: The variety of intestinal flora in healthy subjects is more apparent than that in IBD patients. An unique principal band might be the sequence of the presence of specific etiopathogenetic bacterium, or it might be the combined sequence of mixed bacterial flora.

Objective: To investigate the trends of the distribution of body mass index(BMI) among Chinese adults in some provinces from 1989 to 2000., Methods: This paper was based on data collected in the China Health and Nutrition Survey in 1989,1991,1993,1997 and 2000, and the subjects were 20- 45 years old healthy men and women., Results: In the period of 1989 - 2000, the mean of BMI among Chinese adults was increasing from 1989 to 2000. The mean of BMI among male increased from 21.3kg/m(2) to 22.4kg/m(2). At the same time, the mean of BMI among female increased from 21.8 kg/m(2) to 22.5kg/m(2) . With the changing of the distribution of BMI among Chinese adults the prevalence of overweight and obesity increased from 1989 to 2000. The people who were elder than thirty years old had a faster increasing in BMI than younger age group. Moreover the people who lived in city suburb and town had a faster increasing than who lived in village., Conclusion: It is a big problem to control the changing of the distribution of BMI among Chinese adults.

Objective: To avoid the interference of ABCD1 pseudogenes, the amplification refractory mutation system (ARMS) was used to analyze the mutation of ABCD1 gene in the molecular diagnosis of X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD)., Methods: The upstream primers (wild primer and mutation primer) were designed according to the principle of primer-design in ARMS. In addition, a common downstream primer was designed in the same way to discriminate ABCD1 gene from its prologous pseudogenes. The genomic DNA isolated from the peripheral blood leukocytes of the family members and normal controls was amplified by PCR., Results: In double ARMS, a specific product of 107bp could be amplified from genomic DNA of the patient with R617C mutation in ABCD1 gene and his mother, while the same product was not found when the genomic DNA of the patient's father and normal controls was used. Thus, the interference of ABCD1 pseudogenes in molecular diagnosis of ALD was excluded successfully at genomic DNA level., Conclusion: Double ARMS is a quick and effective method to eliminate the interference of the pseudogenes in detecting ABCD1 gene mutations.

Objective: To examine the differences in food and antioxidant vitamin intake in current non-smokers,light smokers,and heavy smokers., Methods: 51 115 people (24 077 male, 27 038 female) aged above 15 years who had completed providing information on smoking habit and dietary intake, were selected from 2002 national health and nutrition survey., Results: After adjustment for geographic areas and age, data showed the smokers ate more light vegetable and alcohol, less dark vegetable and fruit than non-smokers. Male smokers consumed more energetic stuff and macronutrients than non-smokers, but female smokers had opposite trends. Light smokers (LS) consumed less antioxidant than non-smokers (NS) after adjusted for area, age, BMI and energy, with carotene (Male LS = 1824.7 microg, NS = 1964.8 microg; Female LS = 1565.4 microg, NS = 2127.4 microg), thiamin (Male LS = 0.84 mg, NS = 0.85 mg; Female LS = 0.72 mg, NS = 0.74 mg), vitamin E (alpha) (Male LS = 9.2 mg, NS = 9.3 mg; Female LS = 7.4 mg, NS = 8.1 mg), vitamin C (Male LS = 91.2 mg, NS = 94.2 mg; Female LS = 76.9 mg, NS = 87.5 mg)., Conclusion: Smokers had a significantly lower overall mean dietary antioxidant vitamin intake than non-smokers. Increasing the daily consumption of variety of fruits and vegetables had been recommended to reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
