A total of 18 metal elements in ambient PM 2.5 in Zhengzhou were continuously determined using an online heavy metal observation instrument in January and April, 2021, and the changes in element concentrations were analyzed. Metal elements were traced via enrichment factors, positive matrix factorization (PMF), and a characteristic radar chart. The US EPA health risk assessment model was used to assess the health risks of heavy metals, and the backward trajectory method and the concentration-weighted trajectory (CWT) method were used to evaluate the potential source regions of health risks. The results showed that the element concentrations were higher in spring, and the sum of Fe, Ca, Si, and Al concentrations accounted for 89.8% and 87.5% of the total element concentrations in winter and spring, respectively. Cd was enriched significantly, which was related to human activities. The concentrations of Pb, Se, Zn, Ni, Sb, and K in winter and Cr, Ni, Fe, Mn, V, Ba, Ca, K, Si, and Al in spring increased with the increasing pollution level. The results of PMF and the characteristic radar chart showed that the main sources of metal elements in winter and spring were industry, crust, motor vehicles, and mixed combustion, with industry and mixed combustion pollution occurring more often in winter and crust pollution occurring more often in spring. Significant non-carcinogenic risks existed in both winter and spring with more severe health risks in winter, and Mn caused significant non-carcinogenic risks. The health risks in winter were mainly influenced by Zhengzhou and surrounding cities and long-distance transport in the northwest, and the health risks in spring were mainly influenced by Zhengzhou and surrounding cities.

Angelicae Sinensis Radix, as a medicinal and edible Chinese medicinal herb, is widely used in clinical practice. It is mainly cultivated in Minxian, Tanchang, Zhangxian and Weiyuan counties of Gansu province. In recent years, with the comprehensive and in-depth study of Angelicae Sinensis Radix in China and abroad, its chemical composition, pharmacological effects and application and development have attracted much attention. In this study, the chemical composition, traditional efficacy, and modern pharmacological effects of Angelicae Sinensis Radix were summarized. On this basis, combined with the core concept of quality markers(Q-markers), the Q-markers of Angelicae Sinensis Radix were discussed from the aspects of mass transfer and traceability and chemical composition specificity, availability, and measurability, which provided scientific basis for the quality evaluation of Angelicae Sinensis Radix.

Objective: To estimate the incidence of HIV-1 infection in men who have sex with men (MSM) in key areas of China through HIV-1 limiting antigen avidity enzyme immunoassay (LAg-Avidity EIA), analyze the deviation from the actual results and identify influencing factors, and provided reference for improving the accuracy of estimation results. Methods: Based on the principle of the cohort randomized study design, 20 cities were selected in China based on population size and the number of HIV-positive MSM. The sample size was estimated to be 700 according to the HIV-1 infection rate in MSM. MSM mobile phone app. was used to establish a detection appointment and questionnaire system, and the baseline cross-sectional survey was conducted from April to November 2019. LAg-Avidity EIA was used to identify the recent infected samples. The incidence of HIV-1 infection was calculated and then adjusted based on the estimation formula designed by WHO. The influencing factors were identified by analyzing the sample collection and detection processes. Results: Among the 10 650 blood samples from the participants, 799 were HIV-positive in initial screening, in which 198 samples (24.78%) missed during confirmation test. Only 621 samples were received by the laboratory. After excluding misreported samples, 520 samples were qualified for testing. A total of 155 samples were eventually determined as recent infection through LAg-Avidity EIA; Based on the estimation formula , the incidence of HIV-1 infection in MSM in 20 cities was 4.06% (95% CI :3.27%-4.85%), it increased to 5.53% (95% CI : 4.45%-6.60%)after the adjusting for sample missing rate. When the sample missing rate and misreporting rate were both adjusted, the incidence of HIV-1 infection in the MSM increased to 5.66% (95% CI :4.67%-6.65%). The actual incidence of HIV-1 infection in MSM in the 20 cities might be between 4.06% and 5.66%. Conclusions: Sample missing and misreporting might cause the deviation of the estimation of HIV-1 infection incidence. It is important to ensure the sample source and the quality of sample collection and detection to reduce the deviation in the estimation of HIV-1 infection incidence.

The terpenoids in Pogostemon cablin have complex structures and abundant pharmacological effects. Patchouli alcohol(PA) and pogostone(PO) have a high medicinal value by virtue of anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant, and other biological activities. Due to the low content of terpenoid metabolites in P. cablin, the study of biosynthesis and metabolism regulation can provide a biosynthetic basis for obtaining high-content terpenoids. In this study, key enzyme genes in biosynthesis, transcription factors in metabolism regulation, spatio-temporal expression of terpene synthase were reviewed, aiming to provide a reference for the development, protection, and utilization of P. cablin resources.

This study aims to explore the relationship of DNA methylation with the contents of the index components as well as the growth and development of Pogostemon cablin. The demethylation reagent 5-azacytidine(5-azaC) was used to treat the tissue culture seedlings of patchouliol-type P. cablin. High performance liquid chromatography was employed to evaluate the changes of DNA methy-lation in P. cablin, and GC-MS to detect the contents of index components in P.cablin. The agronomic characters of P.cablin were measured using the common methods. The results showcased that DNA methylation of P.cablin was significantly reduced by 5-azaC in a concentration-dependent manner. Thirty days after treatment with 5-azaC at different concentrations, the content of patchouli alcohol changed slightly; compared with that in the control group, the content of pogostone in 50 μmol·L~(-1) and 100 μmol·L~(-1) 5-azaC groups was significantly up-regulated. The 100 μmol·L~(-1) 5-azaC group had the largest differences in contents of pogostone and patchouli alcohol compared with the control group, followed by the 50 μmol·L~(-1) 5-azaC group. Ninety days after disinhibition, the content of pogostone in the treatment group was significantly increased and the content of patchouli alcohol was significantly decreased. In addition, 5-azaC significantly inhibited the growth and development of P.cablin in a dose-dependent manner. These results indicate that DNA methylation regulates the biosynthesis of the index components in patchouliol-type P.cablin and proper demethylation can directly promote the synthesis of pogostone and indirectly affect the accumulation of patchouli alcohol.

Objective: To study the impact of anticoagulant to the quality of umbilical cord blood (UCB)., Methods: 6060 cord blood units (CBUs) were classified into five groups, such as 28 ml: (10-29) ml, 28 ml: (30-69) ml, 28 ml: (70-109) ml, 28 ml: (110-150) ml and 28 ml: (>150) ml according to volume ratio of anticoagulant and CBVs. The count of pre-cryopreservation total nucleated cell (pre-TNC), the viability of nucleated cell (VNC), the amount of CFU-GM and the ratio changes of CD34 + were evaluated and analyzed statistically., Results: It was found that pre-TNC increased with the growth of volume of CBUs (r=0.9937) under the certain volume of antico-agulant, and the TNC in the minimum UCB volume group was (2.57±0.89)×10 8 ; the VNC grew up with the increasing count viability of volume (r=0.9897), and the average viability of the minimum volume group remained over 95%; the CFU-GM climbed up with the increasing of volume (r=0.9024), and the number of CFV-GM in minimum volume group reached to of 89/×10 5 ; CD34 + % grew up with the increase of volume of CBUs (r=0.9641), and the ratio was (0.30±0.19)% for the minimum volume group., Conclusion: In certain volume of anticoagulant in collection-bag, pre-TNC, VNC, CFU-GM and CD34 + % are all dropped with the decrease of CBUs volume , however, all above-mentioned indexes in the minimun random group still meet the requirement for clinical administration.

Forests play an important role in terrestrial carbon cycles. The mechanism underlying carbon balance in temperate deciduous broad-leaved forests is not clear. In this study, net ecosystem exchange (NEE) and environmental factors, including air temperature ( T a ), soil temperature ( T s ), photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), vapor pressure deficit (VPD), soil water content (SWC) and precipitation ( P ) were continually measured using eddy covariance techniques in 2019 in a deciduous broad-leaved forest in Songshan, Beijing. We analyzed the characteristics of NEE and its response to environmental factors. The results showed that, at diurnal scale, the monthly averaged NEE exhibited a "U" shape curve ( i.e ., being a carbon sink over daytime while being a carbon source during nighttime) over the growing season. During the non-growing season, NEE was positive ( i.e ., carbon source) at diurnal scale. At the seasonal scale, NEE exhibited a unimodal curve. The annual cumulative NEE was -111 g C·m -2 ·a -1 . Annual ecosystem respiration was 555 g C·m -2 ·a -1 , while gross ecosystem productivity was 666 g C·m -2 ·a -1 . Carbon sequestration peaked in June, while emission peaked in November. PAR was the dominant factor affecting daytime NEE (NEE d ). VPD was the main factor that indirectly affected daytime NEE d , with an optimal VPD value that maximizes daytime NEE around 1-1.5 kPa. Soil temperature was the main factor affecting nighttime NEE (NEE n ). SWC was a limiting factor for NEE n . Too high or too low SWC would inhibit NEE n , with an optimal SWC value of 0.28 m 3 ·m -3 .

To evaluate the effects of resuscitation with normal saline and sodium potassium magnesium calcium and glucose injection on renal structure and function in septic rats. Rat model of sepsis was established by ligation and perforation of cecum. Male SD rats were divided into four groups: sham operation group, sepsis group, saline resuscitation group, sodium potassium magnesium calcium and glucose injection resuscitation group. Blood gas analysis was performed at the end of resuscitation. The rats were sacrificed 72 hours after resuscitation. Blood samples were taken to measure the plasma levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factorα (TNFα). Caspase-3 expression was detected by immunohistochemistry in kidney sections. The degree of renal injury was evaluated by regular HE staining and electron microscope. Compared with normal saline resuscitation, sodium potassium calcium magnesium glucose injection resuscitation could decrease the levels of BUN, serum creatinine, IL-1β, IL-6 and TNFα ( P <0.05) , reduce the expression of caspase-3 ( P <0.05) , and improve the renal injury score ( P <0.05) . Sodium potassium calcium magnesium glucose injection resuscitation can significantly improve the renal function of sepsis rats with less pathological damage of the kidney.

At present, China's AIDS testing increased rapidly, but there are still many people living with HIV do not recognize their status, thus postponing the antiviral treatment time. HIV self-testing (HST) is an effective method to expand the testing, not only simple operation, easy to get a result, effectively protect the detection privacy, expand the selection of testers, suit to the entire population, but also the premise and basis of other AIDS comprehensive prevention measures, all over the world are promoting it. Because the HST has controversies in the window period, price and before and after controversial, and our country is in the initial stage of HST, so it is not to develop related policies, but more and more countries are in accordance with their own situations are modified or developed to allow to use rapid detection of AIDS policy to regulate the field. This paper analyzed and summarized the advantage and influence factors of HST promotion, HST believes that in the long term, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, we need to formulate relevant policies, and improve the sensitivity of the kit, shorten the window period of time, production and promotion of operation standard of video, specification and testing the operating practices, preventing and reporting the possible social harm, investigation and understanding of the needs of the people of the crowd, to maximize the advantages of HST, find more infection, so as to curb the epidemic of AIDS.

Purpose: To compare changes of hard tissues before and after treatment of functional and skeletal Angle Class Ⅲ malocclusion with FRⅢ appliance., Methods: Thirty patients with functional and skeletal Angel Class Ⅲ malocclusion were selected and treated with FRⅢ appliance. SPSS 22.0 software package was performed for statistical analysis., Results: After treatment, there was no significant difference in SNA, S-Ptm, ANS-Ptm and Go-Po (P>0.05). ANB, ANS-Me, ANS-Me /N-Me were increased significantly (P<0.01). SNB, L1-NB, L1-MP were decreased significantly (P<0.05). MP-FH, Y axis, U1-NA, U1-NA (mm), U1-SN were increased significantly (P<0.05)., Conclusions: After FRⅢ appliance treatment of Angel Class Ⅲ malocclusion, the position of mandible may rotate clockwise downward and backward， with retrusion of the lower incisors and protrusion of the upper incisors.

To study active secondary metabolites of endophytic fungus Diaporthe longicolla A616 isolated from Pogostemon cablin. Ten compounds were isolated from fermentation product of the strain 616 by silica gel, reverse phase silica gel, Sephadex-LH20, HPLC and so on. Their structures were identified as 1,3-diamino-1,3-dimethylurea(1),(7R,9R)-7-hydroxy-9-propyl-5-nonen-9-olide(2), Ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3β-ol(3),(22E,24R)-ergosta-4,6,8(14)-22-tetraen-3-one(4),(22E,24R)-3β,5α-dihydroxy-6β-ergosta-7,22-diene(5), citreoisocoumarin(6), glycerol monolinoleate(7), 1-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethyl(E)-octadec-9-enoate(8), cyclo-(L-Pro-L-Ala)(9), cyclo(L)-Pro-(L)-Val(10), respectively, based on extensive spectroscopic analysis and literature comparisons. Compounds 6-10 were isolated from the genus Diaporthe for the first time. All isolated compounds were evaluated for in vitro cytotoxic activities against SF-268, MCF-7, NCI-H460 and HepG-2 tumor cell lines. Objective: To study the association between acute respiratory human parainfluenza virus (HPIV) infection and climatic factors in children., Methods: A total of 2 526 throat swab samples were collected from children with acute respiratory infection who visited the Pediatric Clinic of Shanghai Jiading Nanxiang Hospital between 2011 and 2013. HPIV was detected by multiplex RT-PCR. Related meteorological data were collected, including monthly mean temperature, monthly mean humidity, and monthly total rainfall. The association between HPIV detection rate and climatic factors was analyzed by Spearman's or Pearson test., Results: During the three years, the overall HPIV detection rate was 5.62% (142/2 526), and HPIV-1 was the most common type (46.5%), followed by HPIV-3 (31.0%), HPIV-2 (17.6%), and HPIV-4 (4.9%). There were significant differences in the detection rates of HPIV-1 and HPIV-2 in different seasons, and the detection rates of both were the highest in summer (P<0.05). HPIV positive rate was positively correlated with monthly mean temperature (r=0.598; P<0.01) and monthly total rainfall (rs=0.602; P<0.01)., Conclusions: The activity of HPIV in children is correlated with climatic factors, particularly temperature and rainfall.

Growth suitability as assessment indicators for medicinal plants cultivation was proposed based on chemical quality determination and ecological factors analysis by Maxent and ArcGIS model. Notopterygium incisum, an endangered Chinese medicinal plant, was analyzed as a case, its potential distribution areas at different suitability grade and regionalization map were formulated based on growth suitability theory. The results showed that the most suitable habitats is Sichuan province, and more than 60% of the most suitable areawas located in the western Sichuan such as Aba and Ganzi prefectures for N. incisum. The results indicated that habitat altitude, average air temperature in September, and vegetation types were the dominant factors contributing to the grade of plant growth, precipitation and slope were the major factors contributing to notopterol accumulation in its underground parts, while isoimperatorin in its underground parts was negatively corelated with precipitation and slope of its habitat. However, slope as a factor influencing chemical components seemed to be a pseudo corelationship. Therefore, there were distinguishing differences between growth suitability and quality suitability for medicinal plants, which was helpful to further research and practice of cultivation regionalization, wild resource monitoring and large-scale cultivation of traditional Chinese medicine plants.

Objective: To investigate the chemical constituents of Rubus alceaefolius., Methods: Nine compounds were isolated and purified from the petroleum ether extract of 95% alcohol extract of Rubus alceaefolius by repeated column chromatography on silica, Sephadex LH-20 and structurally identified by spectral analysis., Results: The compounds were identified as chrysophanol(1), physcion (2), β-sitosterol(3), 3-oxotirucalla-7, 24-dien-21-oic acid(4), myricadiol(5), 19-α-hydroxy-3-acetyl-ursolic acid(6), N-benzoylphenylalaninyl-N-benzoylphenylalaninate(7), aurantiamide acetate(8) and euscaphic acid(9)., Conclusion: Compounds land 4~8 are isolated from this plant for the first time, and compounds 4 - 8 are found in plants of Rubus genus for the first time.

Objective: To develop an HPLC method for determination of emodin,chrysophanol and physcion from different medicinal parts of Berchemia lineata., Methods: Samples were analyzed on Diamonsil ODS C18 (250 mm x 4. 6 mm,5 μm), with the mobile phase consisted of methanol-0. 20% phosphoric acid solution(74: 26). The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min,column temperature was set at 35 °C ,and detection UV wavelength was 254 nm., Results: The linear range of emodin, chrysophanol and physcion was 0. 00201~ 0. 0804 μg,0. 0066~0. 264 μg and 0. 0124 ~0. 496 μg,with the average recovery was 100. 43% ,101. 29% and 98. 36% ,respectively. The content of total anthraquinones in root was higher than that in taten of Berchemia lineata., Conclusion: The method is simple,accurate and reliable for quality control of Berchemia lineata.

The aim of the paper is to observe the distribution of the endophytic fungi in leaves of Aquilaria sinensis by using permanent paraffin-cut section, optical microscope photography and histochemistry. Total DNA was extracted with modified CTAB method and rDNA ITS regions of plant and endophytic fungi were amplified with eukaryotic universal primers. The rDNA ITS amplicon was characterized by RFLP analysis, sequencing of rDNA ITS library and phylogenetic analyses using PAUP by maximum parsimony. Fusarium sp. A2 was used to induce the formation of resinous in A. sinensis trees. As a result, endophytic fungi mainly distributed in spongy and phloem in leaf. Endophytic fungi distributed in the phloem in agarwood-producing tree and had a relatively high abundance. Phoma sp. and Collectrotrichum sp. were the absolute advantage species in the leaf tissues of non-resinous and agarwood-producing tree, respectively. Collectrotrichum sp. was the only fungal species detected both in the two types of A. sinensis with different levels of abundance. The culture-independent molecular method can be used to identify fungal species directly and rapidly from the plant tissues. Endophytic fungal communities in non-resinous and agarwood-producing A. sinensis leaf tissues were quite different.

Objective: To explore the management strategies of acute toxication of 2, 4-dinitrophenol by hemoperfusion., Methods: A total of 14 patients with acute toxication of 2, 4-dinitrophenol were admitted on September 14, 2009. And they were divided into severe and mild groups according to the severity of clinical manifestation. All patients in both groups received 2-hour blood perfusion within 2 hour post-admission. Their clinical manifestations, laboratory parameters and 2, 4-dinitrophenol levels were carefully observed before and after each perfusion. And oxygenation, intravenous use of furosemide, corticosteroids and symptomatic therapies were simultaneously given to improve general conditions., Results: In serious group, the levels of before and after the first perfusion were 28.21(15.56-45.23) and 16.11(10.10-27.52) mg/L (P < 0.05), respectively. In both groups, all levels of 2, 4-dinitrophenol were significantly reduced before and after each perfusion (all P < 0.05). The patients in severe group would get relieved after 3 vs 2 perfusions in mild group. In severe group, there was a remarked decrease in neutrophil and platelet count after perfusion than those in mild group. The liver enzymes and blood lipids in both groups after therapy significantly elevated than those before therapy (all P < 0.05)., Conclusion: Crucial for managing acute toxication of 2, 4-dinitrophenol, early hemoperfusion reduces mortality.

Objective: To explore the mechanism of the seed dormancy of Berchemia lineatea and the method of breaking the dormancy., Methods: Hundred-seed method, TTC and imbibition method was used to measure thousand seeds weight, seed viability and hard seed percentage, respectively. The germination inhibitor's biological characteristic was identified from the extract of every part in its fructification. Four treatments were compared to explore the best way to break physical and biological dormancy such as 98% sulfuric acid, hot water,grit friction and GA3., Results: The thousand seeds weight was 10.82 g, the percentage of hard seed was up to 100%, viability was 83%, its water absorption speed and absorption rate were relatively low. Being treated with 98% sulfuric acid for 10 minutes, the seed improved its germination rate to 85%, and significantly improved its germination potentiality to 41%. Every part of the fructification contained germination inhibitors. The strongest inhibitory effect was found in seed testa and embryo. 500 and 1 000 mg/L GA3 significantly improved seed's germination potentiality to 48% and 43%., Conclusion: Berchemia lineata seed is hard to germinate because of its physical and biological dormancy, which is one reason for the resource reduction of Berchemia lineata.

Objective: To study the pharmacognostical characteristics of stem and root of Berchemia floribunda for its further research and usage., Methods: The plant was researched by macroscopic identification, microscopic identification and thin layer chromatography., Results: The transverse section of B. floribunda root was eccentric. There were many fiber bundles in the secondary phloem and two different stone cells distributed in stem and root respectively. The results of TLC could identify the stem and root of B. floribunda., Conclusion: The microscopic characteristics of B. floribunda stem and root can be used as reference for its identification. Quercetin can be used as the characteristic component to identify the stem and root.

To investigate the effects of human anti-BAFF scFv-Fc against the hsBAFF, ICR mice were randomly divided into six groups: control, hsBAFF (1 mg x kg(-1)), hsBAFF (1 mg x kg(-1)) + Ab (1 mg x kg(-1)), hsBAFF (1 mg x kg(-1)) + Ab (2 mg x kg(-1)), hsBAFF (1 mg x kg(-1)) + human IgG (1 mg x kg(-1)) and hsBAFF (1 mg x kg(-1)) + human IgG (2 mg x kg(-1)) groups. The effects of scFv-Fc administration on the proliferation of B lymphocytes were evaluated using an MTT assay. The titres of antibody in the serum and B lymphocytes differentiation were assessed by ELISA and flow cytometry, respectively. The results showed that administration of scFv-Fc to mice injected with hsBAFF significantly prevented human BAFF-induced increases in splenic B cell numbers and serum immunoglobulin levels. Furthermore, this fully human antibody would avoid inducing the human anti-mouse antibody (HAMA) response when used in humans. These findings suggest that the compact antibody may be useful in therapeutic or diagnostic application of the BAFF-associated autoimmune diseases in human.

Objective: To study allergens and their relationship to the occurrence of childhood bronchial asthma in the Jiading District of Shanghai., Methods: Three hundred and eighty-two 4 to 12-year-old children with asthma in the remission stage from Nanxiang Hospital in the Jiading District of Shanghai were used as a case group (asthma group), and 402 children from two primary schools and two kindergartens in Jiading were enrolled by cluster sampling and served as control group. Parents of the children completed a questionnaire on living conditions and allergy-related disease history. Skin prick test (SPT) for 18 common allergens was carried out in both groups. In order to examine the effect of environment and living conditions on SPT results, children in the control group were further divided into two sub-groups according to birth place: migrant (219 cases) and resident (183 cases)., Results: SPT results revealed that the main allergens identified in the Jiading region were dermatophagoides farinae, house dust mites, shrimps, cockroaches, and dog hair. The SPT positive rate was 67.9% in the asthma group, and this was significantly higher than in the control group (31.8%) (P<0.01). The environment and living conditions in the migrant group were significantly different from the resident group (P<0.01), whereas the SPT positive rate for this group was significantly lower than in the resident group (P<0.01)., Conclusions: Allergens in the Jiading region mainly originate from dermatophagoides farinae, household dust mites, shrimps, cockroaches and dog hair. Children with asthma are more susceptible to allergens. Environment and living conditions may be relevant, to a certain extent, to an SPT positive rate.

Objective: To study the clinical characteristics of human bocavirus (HBoV) infection in children., Methods: Nasal and throat swab samples were collected in 843 children with lower respiratory tract infection. The multiple RT-PCR method was used to detect HBoV and six other common respiratory tract viruses. The clinical characteristics of HboV positive cases were investigated., Results: Among 843 cases, 90 were HboV positive (10.7%), 131 were respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) positive (15.5%), 117 were influenza virus positive (13.9%), 84 were parainfluenza virus positive (10.0%), 55 were rhinovirus positive (6.5%), 48 were coronavirus positive (5.7%), and 33 were human metapneumovirus positive (3.7%). Of the 90 HBoV infected patients, 45 (50%) showed a co-infection with other respiratory tract viruses. Among them, 33 were infected with one other type of virus (37%), 11 (12%) were infected with two other types of virus, and 1 case (1%) was infected with other three viruses. The HBoV positive rate in children with wheezing was significantly higher than those without wheezing (17.0% vs 9.2%; P<0.01). The common clinical manifestations of HBoV-infected patients included frequent coughing, wheezing and fever. There were no significant differences in the frequency of wheezing between HBoV and RSV infected patients., Conclusions: HBoV positive rate detected from children with wheezing is higher than from children without wheezing, suggesting that apart from RSV, HBoV is another virus causing wheezing in children with respiratory tract infection. Co-infections of HBoV with other respiratory track viruses can be present in some patients.

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility and clinical efficacy of totally laparoscopic gastrectomy (TLG) for gastric cancer., Methods: The investigators retrospectively analyzed 37 cases undergoing TLG for gastric cancer from March 2007 to April 2009 at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University., Results: All 37 cases underwent successful TLG. There was neither transfer to open nor laparoscopic assisted surgery. Twenty-nine cases underwent distal gastrectomy with Billroth II reconstruction, 8 cases total gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y reconstruction, including 5 cases with end-to-side esophageal jejunostomy and 3 cases with side-to-side esophageal jejunostomy. Nineteen cases assisted by intraoperative gastroscopy for tumor locating. The operation duration was 210 - 355 min [mean (284 +/- 43) min]. The blood loss was 80 - 450 ml [mean (175 +/- 62) ml]. The number of dissected lymph nodes was 18 - 55 [mean (31 +/- 9)]. Two cases had post-operative complications, with 1 case of pulmonary infection recovering well after symptomatic treatment and 1 case of temporary delayed gastric emptying recovering well after gastrointestinal decompression for 6 days. No mortality was reported. The hospital stay was 6 - 14 d [mean (9 +/- 2) d]. There was no recurrence during the follow-up period of 2 - 25 months., Conclusions: For surgeons with rich experiences of laparoscopic surgery, TLG for gastric cancer is both safe and feasible. The short-term efficacy of TLG is satisfactory. Furthermore, TLG conforms more to the concept of minimally invasive surgery and the principle of tumor-free technique.

The new SSR markers of rose related fragrance were developed based on the SSH cDNA libraries of rose floral scent mutant. In this study, 10 EST-SSRs (2.6%) from 391 ESTs in the libraries were identified. Six EST-SSRs primers were designed to sequence flanking SSRs. The primer pairs designed were screened on the wild-type Jinyindao, which has flowers full of pleasant scent, and the mutant-type Wangriqinghuai without perceivable floral scent. Five primer pairs were amplified effectively in Jinyindao and Wangriqinghuai, and 3 were polymorphic between Jinyindao and Wangriqinghuai. Eighteen rose cultivars including fragrant roses and nonfragrant roses were identified by the five prime pairs. These results proved that EST-SSR markers are effective markers to identify the polymorphism of the rose.

Objective: This study assessed the main factors associated with HIV infection among men having sex with men (MSM), in order to provide evidence for future intervention., Methods: A case-control study was conducted among HIV cases identified at the MSM survey in Nanjing, Suzhou and Yangzhou cities from May to July in 2008. Each HIV case was matched by 4 HIV negative MSM who participated consecutively right after the HIV case was identified at the same survey, same time and in the same city. A national core MSM survey questionnaire was used with addition of variables of local interest. Fitting conditional logistic regression model was applied for univariate and multivariate analysis., Results: During the survey, 62 HIV positive cases were identified and 248 controls were matched. Data from univariate analysis showed that, inconsistent condom use, syphilis infection, self reported sexually transmitted infection (STI) symptoms and/or signs, unprotected anal sex (UAI) were risk factors, with OR values of 5.56 (95% CI: 1.82-16.96), 2.19 (95% CI: 1.18-4.05), 2.50 (95% CI: 1.13-5.50) and 3.13 (95% CI: 1.64-5.98) respectively. Online cruising and receptive anal sex were protective factors with OR values as 0.47(95% CI: 0.22-0.998) and 0.67 (95% CI: 0.23-1.97). Through multivariate analysis, it was found that syphilis, age of having experienced first insertive sexual intercourse and UAI were risk factors to HIV transmission, with OR values of 2.28 (95% CI: 1.05-4.94), 4.16 (95% CI: 1.63-10.66) and 1.11 (95% CI: 1.04-1.18) respectively. Compared with non-anal sex, bisexual (OR = 0.41, 95% CI: 0.18-0.97) behavior seemed a protected factor., Conclusion: Syphilis infection, UAI and self reported STI symptoms and/or signs were risk factors related to HIV transmission while bisexual seemed a protective factor.

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of laparoscopic-assisted radical distal resection of invasive gastric cancer., Methods: Forty-seven patients with advanced gastric cancer, 33 males and 14 females, aged 58.2 (36 - 77), underwent laparoscopic-assisted radical resection and then were followed up for 17 months (2 - 33 months)., Results: All the 47 patients survived. The operation time was (294 +/- 75) min (200 - 420 min). The blood loss was (150 +/- 65) ml (50 - 500 ml). The number of dissected lymph nodes was (32.4 +/- 22.3) (15 - 48). The gastrointestinal peristalsis recovery time after operation was (2.7 +/- 1.2) d (2 - 6 d). The hospital stay time was (9.0 +/- 3.5) d (5 - 19 d). Post-operational complications were seen in 3 cases: pulmonary infection in 2 cases and incision infection in 1 case, and all the 3 patients recovered well after proper treatment., Conclusion: Laparoscopic-assisted radical resection of invasive gastric cancer is safe and feasible, with the advantages as minimal invasion, less pain, shorter hospital stay, faster bowel function recovery.

Objective: To explore the character of inorganic elements in Polygonum multiflorum., Method: The contents of elements such as Al, B, Ba, Ca, Cu, Mn, Mg, Fe, Na, Ni, P, Se, Sr, Ti and Zn in nine P. multiflorum samples were determined by means of ICP-AEC. The results were used for the development of element distrubution diagram. The principal component analysis and one-way ANOVA of SPSS were applied for the study of characteristic elements in P. multiflorum., Result: The contents of Al, Ca, K, Mg, Sr,Ti in wild P. multiflorum were remarkable higher than those in cultured P. multiflorum, and there was no significant difference between cultured and wild in the other elements. Five principal components which accounted for over 90% of the total variance were extracted from the original data. The analysis results show that Al, B, Ba, Fe, Na, Ni, Ti, Ca and Sr may be the characteristic elements in P. multiflorum. The element distrubution diagram of the sample from Tianyang was remarkable different comparing with the others., Conclusion: The principal component analysis could be used in data processing in inorganic elements.

Objective: To establish thin-layer chromatography (TLC) fingerprint of Radix Polygoni Multiflori collected from different areas., Methods: Quantitative analysis was carried out using TLC scanning method, two mixed solvents of petroleum ether (60-90 degrees C)-ethylacetate-formic acid (15:5:1) and chloroform-methanol-water [6.5: 2.25: 0.42, pH = 4.0 (HAc-NaAc buffer)] were employed as the mobile phase., Results: The TLC chromatograms were constituted 14 characteristic common peaks. The plots based on the height of common peaks can be conveniently used to evaluate the quality of different area samples., Conclusion: The TLC fingerprints can be used to classify and identify Radix Polygoni Multiflori rapidly and effectively.

Objective: To study cellular and humoral immune responses to NS1 protein in mice inoculated intramuscularly with recombinant plasmid expressing dengue 2 NS1 gene., Methods: The eukaryotic expressing plasmid pCNX2-NS1 was injected into tibialis anterior muscle in mice. The mice were subsequently boosted with the same dose and same method twice after the initial inoculation. The mice were killed at four-week intervals and their serum and spleen cells were harvested for further test., Results: Dengue 2 antibodies were detectable in the sera from inoculated animals four weeks after the last boost. The changes of CD4+ T lymphocyte and CD8+ T lymphocyte were also determined by flow cytometry., Conclusion: The recombinant plasmid containing dengue 2 NS1 genes is immunogenic in intramuscularly inoculated mice. The vaccinated mice produced dengue-2 specific and long lasting immunity.

Kang Er Xin-I (KEX-I) is a proved recipe used to treat viral myocarditis. It consists of Lonicera japonica, Ophiopogon japonicus, Astragalus membranaceus mainly and possesses the effect of clearing away heat and toxic materials and supplementing the vital energy and nourishing. The clinical study was carried out with KEX-I according to a random, paired and cross-over design. Coenzyme Q10 was used as a control and left ventricular function was observed. The result showed: after being treated with KEX-I for two weeks, the 26 patients' chief cardiac functional indexes assessed with STI improved markedly, the value of PEP/LVET and ICT/LVCT all decreased and the difference between the two groups was significant. The experimental study showed that KEX-I can inactivate directly the virus of Coxsackie B3, protect the heart cells in mice, prevent attack by Coxsackie B3, promote the growth of internal interferon and increase the NK cell's function to regulate immunity in experimental mice.
