8. Educators and Religious Teachers before the Challenges of the Pandemic and the Earthquake

Na temelju teološko-katehetske, religiozno-pedagoške i sociološke literature u radu su predstavljeni rezultati kvalitativnoga istraživanja o promišljanjima odgojiteljica, vjeroučitelja/ica i ravnatelja Zagrebačke i Sisačko-moslavačke županije u kojoj mjeri kršćanska vjera pomaže pronaći smisao u vremenu krize pandemije i potresa te pruža li čvrstu nadu kao oslonac u različitim okolnostima radi poboljšanja kvalitete života u predškolskim ustanovama, Centrima za odgoj i obrazovanje, osnovnim i srednjim školama. U prvom dijelu ovoga znanstvenoga rada ukratko je objašnjena metodologija kvalitativnih istraživanja koja pruža mogućnost detaljnijega i dubljega sagledavanja i razumijevanje problema koji se istražuje. Iskazi sugovornika u dubinskom intervjuu o promišljanjima pred izazovima pandemije i potresa, opisani u drugom dijelu rada, omogućuju dublje razumijevanje percepcije aktualnoga stanja u odgojno-obrazovnim ustanovama s posebnim naglaskom na duhovno-vjerničkim proživljavanjima vremena u kojem živimo. Dobiveni rezultati pokazuju da se intervjuirani vjeroučitelji, unatoč općeljudskim osjećajima straha, anksioznosti, nesigurnosti, tjeskobe i izgubljenosti, uspijevaju hrabro i odvažno nositi kroz ovo vrijeme zahvaljujući čvrstom pouzdanju u Boga, molitvi, vjeri i nadi, što je evidentno u njihovu još zauzetijem i predanijem radu s djecom i mladima., Based on the theological-catechetical, religious-pedagogical, and sociological literature, the paper presents the results of qualitative research on the reflections of educators, religious teachers, and principals of Zagreb and Sisak-Moslavina counties on the extent to which the Christian faith helps to find meaning in times of crises due to the pandemic and the earthquake, and does it provide firm hope and support in different circumstances to improve the quality of life in preschool institutions, Centers for Education, primary and secondary schools. The first part of this scientific paper briefly explains the methodology of qualitative research, which provides the possibility of more detailed and deeper consideration and understanding of the problem researched. The second part of the paper brings the statements of the participants of this in-depth interview and their thoughts regarding the challenges set before them by the pandemic and the earthquake. They provide a deeper understanding of the perception of the current situation in educational institutions, with emphasis on spiritual and religious experiences of the time we live in. The results show that despite the general feeling of fear, anxiety, insecurity, angst, and loss, the interviewed religious teachers manage to cope in these times bravely and boldly, thanks to their trust in God, prayer, faith, and hope, which is evident in their even more involved and dedicated work with children and young people.

9. Messianic Promises and Fulfillment According to the Document Bible and Christology and the Christology of C. Schönborn

Papinska biblijska komisija objavila je dokument Biblija i kristologija kao kriterij i normu suvremenoj kristologiji. Njegova važnost leži ponajprije u inzistiranju na cjelovitosti biblijske slike Krista, a kao temeljnu biblijsku strukturu ističe odnos obećanje – ispunjenje. Pitanje o Kristu, Mesiji, i zahtjevu cjelovite biblijske slike Krista prema dokumentu Biblija i kristologija te kristologije C. Schönborna u središtu je ovoga članka. Dok je prvo poglavlje posvećeno mesijanskim obećanjima u Starom zavjetu, drugo poglavlje govori o njihovu ispunjenju u Isusu iz Nazareta. Treće poglavlje ovoga rada usredotočeno je na kristologiju C. Schönborna i njezino poštovanje cjelovitosti biblijskoga svjedočanstva o Kristu. U zaključku rada autor upozorava na to da suvremene biblijske znanosti ističu potrebu novoga propitivanja o odnosu obećanja prisutnih u Starom zavjetu i gledanju Novoga zavjeta na ta obećanja i njihovo ispunjenje. To znači da i pred kristologijom stoji novi zahtjev promišljanja odnosa Biblije i kristologije., The Pontifical Biblical Commission published the document Bible and Christology as a criterion and norm for modern Christology. Its importance lies primarily in insisting on the integrity of the biblical image of Christ, and as a fundamental biblical structure, it emphasizes the promise-fulfillment relationship. The question of Christ-Messiah and the demand for an integral biblical image of Christ according to the document Bible and Christology and the Christology of C. Schönborn is at the heart of this article. While the first chapter is devoted to the messianic promises in the OT, the second chapter talks about their fulfillment in Jesus of Nazareth. The third chapter of this paper focuses on the Christology of C. Schönborn and its respect for the integrity of the biblical testimony of Christ. In the conclusion of the paper, the author points out that modern biblical sciences emphasize the need for a new examination of the relationship between the promises present in the OT and the view of those promises and their fulfillment in the NT. This means that Christology also faces a new demand to rethink the relationship between the Bible and Christology.

10. »Peter Spoke Through Leo« (I) The Reception of The Dogmatic Letter to Flavian of Leo the Great at the Sessions of the Council of Chalcedon (1st – 3th Session, October 8 – 13, 451)

Poslanicu Flavijanu Leon Veliki napisao je 449. godine kao kristološki pravorijek protiv Eutihova monofizitskoga nauka. Ona je prošla težak put od potpunoga ignoriranja na Efeškoj »razbojničkoj sinodi« 449. godine do jednodušnoga prihvaćanja, nakon određenih prijepora, na Kalcedonskom koncilu 451. godine. Cilj je ovoga rada prikazati i analizirati recepciju Leonove poslanice na prvih pet kalcedonskih sjednica. O svakoj se sjednici prvo donose opće informacije, a potom se istražuje zapisnik s iste. Članak će biti objavljen u dvama dijelovima. Ovdje su obrađene prve tri sjednice. Pokazano je da na prvoj i drugoj sjednici nije bilo posebne rasprave o teološkom sadržaju Leonove poslanice, ali i da su oci očitovali kako je smatraju iznimno važnim kristološkim spisom. Na trećoj sjednici poslanica je stavljena uz bok najznačajnijim dokumentima pravovjerne kristologije uz čiji je nauk trebalo pristati., Leo the Great wrote The Letter to Flavian in 449 as a Christological sermon against Eutyches’ monophysite doctrine. It went through a difficult path from being completely ignored at the “Robber Synod” of Ephesus in 449 to unanimous acceptance, after certain disputes, at the Council of Chalcedon in 451. The aim of this paper is to present and analyze the reception of Leo’s Letter at the first five Chalcedonian sessions. For each session, we first provide general information and then examine the minutes from the session. The article will be published in two parts. The first three sessions are covered here. We show that in the first and second sessions, there was no specific discussion about the theological content of Leo’s Letter, but also that the fathers declared they considered it an extremely important Christological writing. At the third session, the letter was compared to the most important documents of orthodox Christology, whose teaching had to be agreed to.

Rad izlaže nauk o pet umnih krjeposti: znanju, umnosti, mudrosti, umijeću i razboritosti, kako je izložen u Aristotelovim, a kasnije i u djelima Tome Akvinskoga. Analizirajući svaku pojedinu umnu krjepost, razmatra se njihova uloga i važnost za doba kriza koje su sastavni dio čovjekova življenja, kako nam predočava i sadašnja koronakriza. Tumačeći bit i doseg pojedine krjeposti, pokazuje se da prema svakoj od njih razum ostvaruje podudarnost s određenim vidom zbilje te da postaje sposoban usmjeravati djelovanje na način da zlo preobražava u dobro. Rješavanje krize zahtijeva da um stekne izvrsnost na svih pet područja, i to osobito na onom koje je najmanje prisutno u javnom diskursu, krjeposti mudrosti., The paper presents the doctrine of five intellectual virtues: science, understanding, wisdom, art, and prudence, as presented in the works of Aristotle and later in the works of Thomas Aquinas. By analyzing each individual intellectual virtue, we consider their role and importance in times of crises that are an integral part of human life, as shown by the current coronavirus crisis. By explaining the essence and scope of each virtue, it is shown that according to each of them, reason achieves correspondence with a particular aspect of reality and gains the ability to direct action in a way that transforms evil into good. Resolving the crisis requires that the intellect acquires excellence in all five areas, especially in the one that is the least present in current public discourse: the virtue of wisdom.
