The process of the settlement Sulice modern Bosniak families origin and development is possible to observe, based on the available historical sources, only in 19th century. The main data sources were the male population census of Kaza Srebrenica from 1850/51, and the first entries of owners in land registers of Srebrenica district in 1894. By comparing the data from the sources above, as well as from the population census of 1991, it was possible to establish continuity of settlement and development of Sulice families in this part of Srebrenica municipality. In the Sulice population census from 1850/51 the following last names are mentioned: Behramović, Bejan, Bejanović, Haskić, Hodžić, Huremović, Kandžetović, Kumović, Smajić, Spahić and Šulić. By the first entries in land registers of 1894 for the cadastral municipality of Sulice a large number of last names is stated, the most common of which are: Abdurahmanović (Hadžihafizbegović), Ademović, Aljkanović, Avdić, Bajramović, Beganović, Begić, Begović, Bektić, Burić, Bumbulović, Čivić (Rešić), Delić, Dudić, Džananović, Džanić, Džinović, Efendić, Fočak, Fržina, Gurda, Gurdić, Halilbašić, Hasanović, Hasić, Haskić, Hodžić, Huseinović, Husić, Ibišević, Ibrahimović, Idrizović, Imširović, Jahić (Kadrić), Junuzagić, Kadrić, Kajmaković, Kovačević, Kuleša, Lemeš, Lolić, Mahmutović, Mandžić, Mašić, Mehić, Mehmedović, Mehmedović (Silajdžić), Mehanović, Meholjić (Mehanović), Mešić, Mostarac (Dženetić), Muhić (Mujić), Musić, Mustafić, Nuhanović, Nukić, Nukić (Begović), Okanović, Omerović, Osmanović (Kavazović), Osmanović (Selimović), Palalić, Pašagić, Pinjić (Čikarić), Pitarević, Prijepoljac, Ramić, Rustanbegović, Salihović, Selmanagić, Selimović, Siručić (Salihović), Smajlović, Suljić, Sumbulović, Šarvan, Šećić, Šehić, Šolić (Šulić), Špijodić, Tanković, Tepić, Ustić, Uzunović, Vranjkovina, Zildžić, Zimić, Zulo (Agičević). Only those families who lived in the Sulice settlement in the second half of the 19th century have been researched in this paper. Those are the following families: Abdurahmanovićs (Hadžihafizbegović), Alićs, Aljkanovićs, Avdićs, Bajramovićs (Behramović), Begovićs, Bejans, Bejanovićs, Bektićs, Burićs, Džinovićs, Haskićs, Hodžićs, Huseinovićs, Imširovićs, Kadrićs, Kandžetovićs, Kulešas, Mehanovićs (Kandžetović), Mujkićs, Musićs, Mustafićs (Dervanović), Mustafićs (Spahić), Nuhanovićs, Nukićs, Osmanovićs (Selimović), Pejmanovićs, Sahadžićs, Selimovićs (Huremović), Selimovićs (Kumović), Smajlovićs, Suljićs (Smajić), Šarvans, Šolićs and Špijodićs. Most male members who had been listed in 1850/51 census in the Sulice settlement had their descendants, either male or female, who continued their family, i.e. genetic lineage, thus preserving their family and genetic heritage. Some families, such as Alićs, Abdurahmanovićs, Haskićs, Kadrićs, Kandžetovićs, Mehanovićs, Nuhanovićs, Selimovićs, etc. were more numerous than others, due to either greater natural increase or less emigration outside the Sulice settlement. However, it was not possible to research the impact of migration on the overall Sulice population growth because it was not a part of the official policy of neither Ottoman nor Austro-Hungarian Empire. On the contrary, the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy made an effort to minimize the extent of Muslim emigration from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period from 1879 to 1918 because this did not work in its favour considering the commitments it had made during the Berlin Congress in 1878. It is important to note that most male members of the Sulice settlement families, who had been listed in 1850/51 census, took their family name (last name) at the end of the 19th century or at the beginning of the 20th century because it was mandatory during the Austro-Hungarian occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while during the Ottoman Empire rule it was not. The phenomenon of formation of family names (last names) for the wider area of the Osat region was not specifically researched, thus not in this paper either, because the topic of this paper has been to research the process of formation of the individual families in the Sulice settlement in the second half of the 19th century. Based on this this process it is possible to notice that most families, who have a common ancestor, kept their common family name, i.e. last name.

Cilj je rada analizom prezimena dati povijesnu antroponimijsku sliku jezično općenito neistraženoga petrinjskog područja., This paper provides a formational and motivational analysis of the family names recorded in the oldest birth register of the St. Lovro parish in Petrinja based on available sources and literature. The beginings of the formation of the town of Petrinja date to the 17th century, and birth registers have been kept since 1677. Of the seventy-three family names whose records reach up to three hundred years in the past, sixty-three are still present in Petrinja today. The purpose of this paper is to provide a historical and anthroponymic picture of the generally linguistically unexplored area of Petrinja through an analysis of its family names.

Konačno, u radu će se pokazati da su za popise stanovništva prvenstveno bili zaduženi mletački knezovi u dalmatinskim komunama, iako su pojedine zbirne popise sastavljali i mletački kapetani., The paper deals with the census of the land area of Zadar from 1610 kept in the library of the Biblioteca del Museo Correr in Venice. The census was correlated with the 1608 statistics published by Roman Jelić. The taker of both censuses is the same person. Comparing the censuses published so far in Croatian historiography and doing their analysis and synthesis, we made a hypothesis that the Venetian Rectors in the Dalmatian communes were mainly responsible for carrying them out. The article also concludes that, at least for the Zadar area, censuses were regularly conducted every other year. Their purpose was to give an insight into the number of males fit for military service on whom the Venetian authorities could count at wartime. Given that a census included the names of the household holders and the number of members of each family, the 1610 census of the Zadar area is an important historical source for studying the onomastics, demographic trends and population migration in the area during the 16th and 17th century.

The island of Korčula, second most populated island in the Republic of Croatia, has experienced many demographic changes through modern population censuses. The population of the island has increased multiple times until the first half of 20th century, followed by demographic decline. The specific structures of the population have changed, as well as the physiognomic characteristics of the area. Primarily it refers to the composition of the population by age and by activity. The general, natural and spatial movement of the population was analyzed, as well as the composition of the population by certain groups with focus on modern population between 1991 and 2011. This paper is an analysis of demographic changes in the area, the present situation and the stated assumptions for future demographic development of the island of Korčula.

Također, analizira se gospodarska struktura i zaključuje kakav je njezin utjecaj na ninske obitelji za vrijeme francuske uprave, odnosno na kojoj je razini tada bio razmatrani urbanitet., The paper offers a historical-demographic analysis of the population of the town of Nin according to the census of 1810. The census was conducted during the French rule in Dalmatia in the pre-statistic period, and belongs to the group of historical-demographic statistic analyses, the main features of which are: instantaneousness, comprehensiveness, and individuality. The census established the number of inhabitants. Social structure was analysed based on the predominating structure of various family types: the nobility, the bourgeoisie, the clergy and the common people, for whom migratory directions and the times of settlement were established. Frequent changes in the population of Nin occurred as a consequence of the Turkish-Venetian Wars. As regards the population structure, in the class of the common people, the predominating family type was nuclear, while families belonging to other classes were small in number, as the majority of their members lived outside Nin. In all the analysed classes, an even gender structure was present, whilst according to profession, labourers were predominating; this definitely gave Nin a touch of rustic quality. This general stagnation, which had begun rather early and was primarily of economic nature, caused the loss of administrative, judicial and ecclesiastic institutions. Having completely lost all formal and substantial attributes of an urban settlement, Nin became an unattractive life destination. Therefore, even the few members of the elite belonging to the nobility, bourgeoisie and church prelates left it.

U ovoj povijesnodemografskoj analizi ističu se pokazatelji koji se mogu smatrati lokalnim specifičnostima., The paper analyses and presents the social structure of the city of Bakar according to the census of 1775. The census was conducted in pre-statistic times and belongs to the group of static historical-demographic analyses with the following main features: instantaneousness, comprehensiveness and individuality. Starting from this source, we determined the structure and organisation of family and household, as well as their vital demographic features. Based on these factors, we concluded that simple nuclear family type and young population (according to the number of children recorded) had prevailed in Bakar. Social structure was analysed through the prevailing types of family structure – from plebeians and clergy to aristocracy. Bourgeoisie was not pointed out separately. Furthermore, the economic structure was analysed; it was concluded what kind of influence it had exercised at the end of the XVIIIth century on the families in Bakar. The beginning of industrialisation and economy in progress ensured the preconditions for an increased number and choice of professions, which made the city of Bakar rather appealing to live and work in. In this historical and demographic analysis, there were factors indicating to what might be understood as locally specific qualities.

Obradbom popisa dat je novi prinos boljem razumijevanju omiškog društva s početka novog doba., According to the 1805 Bratislava Peace Treaty, Napoleon’s army occupied Dalmatia, the only Croatian land on the Adriatic coast. This area had a special geo-strategic significance to the French plans of conquest. Creating a new territorial-administrative division, the French authorities ordered a census to be made of the population, of the number of animals and boats in order to obtain precise information about the inhabitants and their properties for the purpose of the draft, for public works and other activities. The 1806 Census is stored amongst the Papers of the French Administration in the Zadar State Archive. It is written in Italian. According to demographic features the census is secular and restricted to the city of Omiš and its immediate surroundings. The estate structure of the city is reflected in the recording of the settled population: the remaining members of the municipal nobility, the burghers, the common folk and the clergy. The census shows that at the beginning of the 19th century, the Omiš population was still structured according to estates and that it still assembled in its corresponding social organizations, serving in city services and offices. Within a short period of time Napoleon’s administration did away with this practice. According to the number of houses the anagraph collectively registers the individual family communities composed of married couples, widowers and widows, with or without their children. By way of such family communities the census records the number of members living with the head of the family and those who, although not relatives, are associated with him. In most cases these were servants, other poor house members, whose family origin or marital status could not be established because of certain shortcomings of the census so that the author had to rely on other methods of reconstruction using other archival sources. Using these indicators the size of the family has been shown on a table and the characteristics of a stable family and its home were delineated. It is obvious that the Omiš family was small and that it corresponded to the size of the city family as distinct from the more numerous one in the village or the more compact and more tightly-knit one in the patriarchal family nucleus. On the basis of the size of the family, the author makes note of the number of male and female children and the age they enter marriage or remain single. The people who remained single were encompassed by the census and as such form a household, living alone or with relatives or with members of the household who are not their relatives. The few recorded persons belonging to the clergy, such as priests and nuns of the Tertiary order of St Francis in Omiš lived alone or together with their nearest relatives. In the supplement to the census, in addition to the number of inhabitants, individual Omiš merchants or individual craftsmen, who were in demand by the everyday life of the city and its environs, were recorded. The analysis of the census makes a contribution to a better understanding of Omiš society at the dawn of the modern age.
