Purpose. The aim of this paper is to problematize information seeking behavior of professionals in different occupations, and to present differences in information behavior of employees based on the research conducted in eastern Croatia. Methodology. The research was conducted in January 2021 using the quantitative method. An online questionnaire was filled out by 553 employees in public institutions and private companies. For examining statistical differences, the Chi-square test and the Kruskal-Wallis test were used. Findings. The research results with the basic descriptive data have already been published. This paper presents a further analysis which has shown statistically significant differences in information behavior of the respondents with regard to their sex, age, education, length of service and work sector. Female employees seek information more often than male employees. The respondents who have obtained a doctorate and have been working up to 20 years in public sector (university teachers), are those who seek information for performing work tasks and use online sources to the greatest extent. The middle-aged female employees with highest level of education and respondents who have been working up to 30 years at the university most often find work related information in the library. Younger and highly educated employees from public institutions predominantly encounter difficulties in information seeking (such as limited access to quality information). Limitations. The paper brings only research results obtained by analyzing statistical differences. The sample is not representative at the national level since majority of employees who participated in the research come from the University of Osijek. Practical implications. The research results can be useful to employers in state institutions and to private entrepreneurs. The librarians from academic and public libraries can provide additional sources and organize information literacy workshops for employees as their potential users. Originality. The originality of the paper lies in the fact that it presents the research of a topic that is not sufficiently represented in Croatia. The paper analyzes for the first time the differences in the information behavior of a group of employees from one part of Croatia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INFORMATION literacy , *INFORMATION-seeking behavior , *LITERACY programs , *INFORMATION resources , *YOUNG adults , *INTERPERSONAL relations - Abstract
Purpose. The purpose of the paper is to present a study of adolescents' choices of information sources in everyday life situations. The results have revealed what criteria adolescents apply when selecting the sources. Approach/methodology/design. The study has taken a dominantly inductive and interpretative approach. The sequential research strategy has included three phases. The results presented in the paper are based on the data collected in the third phase, the semi-structured individual interviews with 18 adolescents. Results. The criteria which the participants have used when selecting the information sources are grouped into four types: (1) criteria related to credibility and cognitive authority of sources, (2) criteria that express the quality of relationship between an interpersonal information source and a person who seeks information, (3) criteria that lead to simple, quick, and easy access to information, and (4) criteria that provide information in forms that are appealing and easy to understand. Only following the first type of criteria when choosing a source of information guarantees that the chosen source will provide a good quality information. Limitations. The results represent opinions and behaviour of the participants who took part in the study and therefore do not represent the wider population that is not included in high school education. Practical implications. The findings of the research can be used in the design of information literacy programs for young people and education for informed decision-making in everyday life. Originality/value. The paper brings new insights into the criteria that adolescents use when choosing information sources and puts them in the context of previous research. The research investigates information behaviour of adolescents in everyday life, which is an insufficiently researched topic in the Republic of Croatia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Entrepreneurship education is a concept and educational model that aims to develop entrepreneurial competence with all its components and the development of enterprise as a personality trait that enables effective personal and professional functioning in a lifelong perspective. As such, it captures attention educational policies developers, practitioners, teachers, and other educational process stakeholders as the researchers whose work contributes to the ways in which we and understand this issue. The implementation of entrepreneurship as a competence in education systems has multiple meanings and implications for the way we currently understand this concept and for future directions of its development and conceptualization. Given that the implementation of this educational concept is conditioned by numerous factors such as recent trends in educational policies, different curriculum implementation practices, addressing different stakeholders in education, etc., we assume that equally relevant source of information can be identified by entrepreneurship education as research preoccupation in conceptual and empirical scientific papers. The ways and practices that scientific tools and procedures try to address this issue, and are contained in the papers, offer a valuable resource of methodological knowledge and scientific knowledge based on which we can draw conclusions about entrepreneurial education state-of-the-play. The aim of this analysis is, by applying the desk method and systematic analysis of selected relevant research on entrepreneurship education in the last 10 years, to identify research topics and research problems and analyze the methodological practices, approaches and used solutions. The scientific papers as the subject of this analysis were selected according to several relevant criteria. This paper addresses the following research questions: from a research point of view, which topics can be identified in and how the research interest is argued; how entrepreneurship education is conceptually defined for research purposes; which methodological approaches are used in research and whether there are dominant research approaches when it comes to research on entrepreneurship education in compulsory education; which research-based trends can be identified and what we can learn for future research on this topic. The analysis made for the purposes of this paper establishes a more systematic view concept of education for entrepre-neurship within the existing of the research practices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BOOK clubs (Discussion groups) , *COVID-19 , *COVID-19 pandemic , *VIRTUAL work , *CULTURAL adaptation , *PUBLIC libraries - Abstract
Aim. The research goal was to determine to what extent and in what way book clubs were affected by the COVID-19 disease pandemic. Methodology. The paper presents results of an online questionnaire survey conducted from November 10 to December 7, 2020. The research was conducted simultaneously in public libraries in the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Slovenia. It was aimed at book clubs that were active during 2019 and 2020, as a period that included the time immediately before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results. In Croatia, out of 62 active book clubs before the pandemic, 33 (53 %) continued to operate during the pandemic. In Slovenia, out of the initial 47 clubs, 19 (40 %) continued with their activities. These clubs quickly adapted to the new circumstances and continued to work in the virtual space or by combining online communication and remote meetings with live meetings whenever possible. Regarding the application of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) tools, the identical processes have taken place in both countries: book clubs were more focused on maintaining contact with the existing members than on promoting clubs and attracting new members. However, the pandemic caused the complete termination of activities for some book clubs: in Croatia 47 %, in Slovenia 38 % of the surveyed clubs. Social significance. The paper contributes to the overall picture of the adaptation of the cultural sector to pandemic conditions and complying with the new requirements in order to communicate with its public. The paper identifies the impact of the pandemic on accelerating the process of applying new technologies for Internet communication. Originality/value. The paper offers a comparative analysis of the impact of the pandemic on the continuity of book clubs' activities in Croatia and Slovenia and how they have adapted to new circumstances. It is based on the hitherto unpublished research results on book club activities during the pandemic, with special emphasis on the use of ICT tools as possible aids to overcome the restrictions prescribed for live meetings as part of anti-epidemic measures. In order to effectively implement the desired vision of zero injuries and work-related health problems, the system of occupational safety and health (OSH) at work needs to focus effectively on planning, organizing, leading and controlling. The purpose of this paper is to present the design and verification of a comprehensive measuring instrument for determining the level of implemented occupational safety and health in an organization. Such a measuring instrument was introduced to assess the level of OSH in 137 large and medium-sized Slovenian business enterprises. This measuring instrument provides a comprehensive insight into the interconnections between the OSH management, working conditions and economic efficiency in an organization. The main finding of the study was that the scope of the OSH management functions can be considered with regard to the following three aspects: organization and operation of the OSH management, documentation of procedures, and regular monitoring of the implementation of OSH measures. The measuring instrument presents an original and useful tool for various experts: for policy makers in the field of OSH at national level, for business owners and managers, for employees and their representatives, as well as for OSH professional staff in an enterprise or institution. The paper presents two old journals from Bosnia and Herzegovina whish are not very widely known. The first one is Jedro (The sail) and the second one Der Turist (The tourist). Jedro was published in our language and Der Turist in German. While researching the complete journal production in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), we noticed that these two old magazines were very unusual because of their titles as well as the themes they dealt weith. Although we do not possess all the numbers of the journals, the results of the research will enable the public to get acquainted with these two rare and unusual journals. At the same time, their existence shows the interest of the users at the beginning of the 20th century for the themes related to sea, natural rarities, an tourism. Initiating these magazines had contributed to starting tourism as profession in BiH. Until today, these two magazines have remained the only one of this kind in BiH. The purpose of this paper was to explore these magazines, but also to save them from being forgotten, and to enclude them in BiH cultural heritage. Perhaps, it will inspire our cultural and scientific community to start up similar journals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The intention of the paper was to determine how certain selected factors influence preventive attitude of managers towards health and safety in the workplace. The paper is based on a survey which included 351 CEOs in larger Slovenian companies. The evaluation of data was made using the SPSS program. We found the strongest correlation between variables of preventive attitude towards health and safety between education and investments, and education and safety at work. Analysis showed that the correlation between leadership and preventive safety of this sample is positive and influences the health and safety results (the correlation is relatively high, ß coefficient 0,473). Study findings are current and may be useful to those involved in changing the legislation related to health and safety in the workplace. We recommend that preventive safety and incentives be built into the legislation, as it is evident that the CEOs are inclined to honour legal obligations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper presents a series of research studies of the process of social reconstruction conducted in the period from 2000 to 2004 in Vukovar. The framework consists of five basic studies: (1) survey of the opinions of citizens, Croats and Serbs, conducted in 2000 and repeated in 2002, about mutual relations before, during and after the war, and the possibilities of reconstruction of social relations and reconciliation, (2) research of attitudes towards education and interethnic relations from 2001, in which the participants were primary and secondary school students, their parents and teachers, (3) ethnographic research of the process of social reconstruction of the community in the period from 2000-2003, (4) qualitative research of socio-psychological consequences of the war and consequences for interethnic relations from 2000, and (5) the research on the breakdown of long-standing friendships between members of opposed ethnical groups. Approximately 2,300 participants directly participated in the research studies, and the ethnographic study enabled a wider and deeper analysis of the social reconstruction process that transcends the framework of the directly surveyed sample. The results indicate a slow recovery of the community multiply traumatised by the war events, which left deep, long and in many aspects probably permanent consequences on interethnic relation in once highly homogenous and functional multiethnic community. The paper proposes the model according to which the social recovery of the community simultaneously takes place on four levels: individual-psychological level, community level, social level and structural level. ENVIRONMENTAL sciences , *ENVIRONMENTAL engineering , *CLIMATE change , *GLOBAL warming , *RESEARCH , *CLIMATOLOGY - Abstract
The relationship between comprehensiveness of information and its reliability is reviewed on the example of its use in the discipline of environmental protection, more precisely, in the case of global climate change. This scientific topic is multidisciplinary in character, bordering on technology, economy and sociology. Computerized information search programs yield comprehensive and numerous data. The problem is in the selection criteria applied to assess the reliability of overwhelming numbers of information units. In the discussed example, the reliability of information is difficult to verify, because global climate change is not accessible to experimental verification, a crux of the scientific method. The paper discusses the topic of ideological bias in the selection of information that corroborates the preconceived opinions of a paper's author. Far-reaching economic decisions are made in this manner, reflecting the majority beliefs of scientists, a position that belongs to the realm of religion, rather than to science. The aim of this research was to show the way in which media in Serbia show the church and religion. Unprofessional reporting can lead to the most troublesome confli-ct in one country, the region and beyond. Pages of historical significance are full of in-ter-religious conflicts, and because history repeats, similar events are still happening. Problem is that people don 't care a lot. The paper contains few analazyed examples ta-ken from existing media, as well as the conclusion of the research that online media are seeking a greater number of readers, but they do not think enough about the consequen-ces on public opinion. WORK-related injuries , *INDUSTRIAL hygiene , *INDUSTRIAL safety , *OCCUPATIONAL mortality - Abstract
One of the key indicators of the status and development of occupational safety and health in a determined social environment is the number of registered occupational injuries. The purpose of this paper is to review, in retrospect, different ways of data collection and data interpretation, and provide information regarding the number of occupational injuries in the Republic of Slovenia. Information concerning the number of occupational injuries in the Republic of Slovenia has been systematically collected and published since the middle of the 20th century by different national and foreign organizations. Using the scientific method of compilation we selected various data and information concerning the number of occupational injuries and the total number of fatal occupational injuries. We used information published in the Republic of Slovenia by Slovenian, European and international institutions covering the period between 1960 and 2007. We established that both the methodology of data collection and the methodology of injury registration had changed during the said period, resulting in a rather diversified number of occupational injuries over the years. An overall chronological review of the number of occupational injuries was made, offering all concerned parties the opportunity to compare these figures to the figures of occupational injuries in other countries and to plan political, economic and other activities that would improve occupational health and safety. The paper presents the research the aims of which were to analyse some aspects of the quality of life of elderly persons with physical disability and the connection with social policy. The aspects of quality of life related to: socio-economic indicators, coping with everyday life and mobility, formal and informal forms of social support and subjective sources of strength. The aim was to determine whether the aforementioned aspects of the quality of life of elderly age group differ from those of the younger age group of disabled persons. The sample consisted of 480 disabled persons, out of which 105 persons were older than 65. The research was conducted by the Croatian Association of Disabled Persons in March, 2003. The data was obtained throughout Croatia via semi-structured survey. The results have shown that elderly disabled persons enjoy a favourable housing situation and that their housing is partly adjusted to their needs. Their financial situation is poor, they have to use orthopaedic aids, the environment is inaccessible to them, they rarely use their rights due to the lack of information about them, and they most frequently get informed through the media. Their social network is small, mostly including their children and spouses. The sources of formal support (professionals from Social Welfare Centres, the government representatives and politicians) are inadequate. In general, the assessment of their quality of life is lower than those of younger disabled persons. Such results point out that there is a need to provide a better care and support by the community for the persons with physical disability, and emphasise the importance of social inclusion in order to improve their quality of life. The specific qualities of the transport market, reflected on the competitive relations of transport subjects and transport routes, imply seriousness in creating a complete service offered on a transport route. The transport service has to satisfy the increasing demands of the users, by being attractive, speedy, safe and offering a high-quality service. In that sense, the main goal of this research is to contribute to defining the transport-logistics services on the transport route as a complex phenomenon influenced by many circumstances and particularities of the transport market. In view of the determined goal, this paper aims at defining the theoretical guidelines on the quality of transport and of transport-logistics services, as well as the standardized basis for the definition, insurance and management of the transport service quality. A special analysis is carried out of the criteria and specific qualities of the transport market and of the demands of the transport service users, since the definition of the basic prerequisite conditions and goals for effecting an increasing quality and competitive level of the transport route services are directly conditioned by these criteria. In a way, this text continues two of my previously published text and a lecture on Open Access (OA) to published scientific information. OA is a world wide initiative for the maximal access to scientific information, in a digital form, be it as digital OA journals („golden way"), or as digital OA self-archived documents („green way"). In this article, after a brief summary of some basic principles of the concept of OA, a short account of the most important global developments regarding the OA initiative during the years 2005 and 2006. Everything indicates that OA is ever more widespread and that there is an increasing number of institutions and foundations adhering to it. However, the initiative still requires more promotion among scientists. OA's appeal to individual scientists should lie in the fact that OA increases the visibility of newly published information, and its impact on scientific research. Of course, this also contributes to the reputation of scientists publishing noteworthy papers. On the global scene, OA could bridge the gap between affluent and less affluent scientific communities, at least in the field of sharing published information. The reduced profit of scientific publishers is, and may for some time be, the main obstacle for further advancement of the OA approach. However, there are encouraging signs that some of the more progressive publishers are trying to adapt to the new situation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to demonstrate that establishing a single discipline is of primary importance for further development of quantitative research into processes of generation, communication, and usage of scientific and other substantive information, known in the literature as bibliometric, scientometric and informetric studies. Establishing a single discipline is primarily required (1) to define and formalize the nature and boundaries of a discipline that will enable development in a consistent way, as well as (2) to facilitate knowledge systematization and standardization of terminology. The first part of the article gives a critical presentation of the current situation and the reasons behind it. The second part presents and discusses the concept of informetrics as a common integrative discipline. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this research was to determine whether the information flows correlate with journal inclusion in the ISI databases. The sample contained 12 Croatian journals covered by Institute for Scientific Information on the basis of Journal Citation Reports (JCR) Science Edition and Social Sciences Edition for the year 2001. Two journal sets were selected to test for correlation: cited journals and citing journals. The sets were compared. Studied were the interrelations, mutual overlaps and citations. Scientific categories were based on JCR. The goal of the paper was to study the main characteristics of the process of Croatian scientific communication on a sample of domestic journals covered by ISI databases and not the evaluation of the process of their selection for the inclusion into ISI database.
