Rezultati ukazuju na važnost internalizacije novog fit ideala i nezadovoljstva slikom tijela u objašnjenju odstupajućih navika hranjenja i kompulzivnog vježbanja kod mladih žena., The aim of this study was to examine the relationships between sociocultural pressures, perfectionism, internalization of the new fit ideal and body image dissatisfaction and disordered eating habits, and compulsive exercise in young women. The study was conducted online and involved 514 women ranging from 18 and 25 years of age, while majority of the sample consisted of female students. It was found that socicultural pressures, socially-prescribed perfectionism, internalization of fit ideal and body image dissatisfaction are positively related both to disordered eating habits and compulsive exercise. Furthermore, the significant contribution of fit ideal internalization and body image dissatisfaction in explaining disordered eating habits and compulsive exercise has been shown, whereby fit ideal internalization and body image dissatisfaction are significant predictors of disordered eating habits and compulsive exercise. Contrary to expectations, socially-prescribed perfectionism hasn't been proven to moderate the relationship between sociocultural pressures and fit ideal internalization. Consistent with expectations, body image dissatisfaction was a significant mediator in the relationship between fit ideal internalization and disordered eating habits and in the relationship between fit ideal internalization and compulsive exercise. The results indicate the importance of internalizing the new fit ideal and body image dissatisfaction in explaining disordered eating habits and compulsive exercise in young women.
