This work paper presents the epidemiology of various injuries and illnesses that occur during competing swimming. The main causes, ways and places for the occurrence of sports injuries are presented. Mechanisms of injuries are described in each swimming technique, the anatomical structure of the joints that are most often exposed to injury as well as the mechanisms of pain syndromes. In addition to musculoskeletal injuries, health problems that arise as a result of a reduced immune system after a hard training and an ideal medium - water for the formation of the disease in which the training is performed are described. The most common types of illnesses are: respiratory, dermatological, otorhinolaryngological and oftalmological problems.
