This article analyses and compares four sets of Czech secondary school mathematics textbooks from the perspective of financial relationships and dependencies. We claim that understading of financial relationships and dependencies, such as inflation or relationship between potential return of an investment and its riskiness play an important role in financial literacy; this is why they are implicitly present in the Czech Financial Literacy Standard. The importance of the study lies in its focus on the connection between financial education and functional thinking, a link which has been missing in the literature we are familiar with. Functional thinking is an important prerequisite for understanding financial relationships and dependencies. On the other hand, financial topics may also be motivating and suitable contexts for developing functional thinking. Our comparative analyses indicates that Czech secondary mathematics textbooks do not provide teachers and pupils with opportunities to gain insights into the relationships and dependencies in financial education and that potential of the tasks with financial context for developing pupils’ functional thinking is not fully used in the analysed textbooks.

- Abstract
In this article, I focus on the issue of the financial literacy of regular pawnshop customers. Generally, the terms of the pawn loan are considered as relatively unfavourable, so I was interested in the level of financial literacy of regular borrowers. During field research, it turned out that a pawn loan can be viewed from both the economic and a symbolic perspective. While the former is strictly rational and takes into account the costs and benefits with regard to the specific goals, the latter is rather related to the reasons that borrowers put forward at the moment they decide to accept the loan fee, and concerns such terms as self-esteem, prestige, or position in the social hierarchy. To the uninformed observer, a pawn loan may seem relatively irrational, and the ignorance of the context may make the impression that the financial literacy of those who borrow money in a pawnshop under quite unfavourable conditions is relatively low. However, this view of the issue is not complex, since it completely overlooks the situation and living conditions of borrowers. The question arises whether the commonly used concept of financial literacy is universally applicable to all strata of society, or whether disadvantaged groups in certain life situations act according to different principles of financial literacy, which are adapted to their given living conditions. - Abstract
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs acts at the central level as a ministry managing social policy, social work. In our case, it is work with people in housing need, prevention of loss of housing, social services (dormitories, shelters, halfway houses) and social housing benefits (housing allowance, housing supplement and emergency immediate assistance). The role of partial social aspects in the social housing system is not only supportive, but is absolutely crucial for its functioning. In particular, social work, but also social services, are an essential part of social housing, especially for people in housing need. The priority steps are to solve the problems of eliminating the trade in social exclusion, improving coexistence in the community and not overloading the benefit system. Within the process of adaptation of homeless people in shelters, the key areas are financial literacy, retraining, the possibility of housing mediation and subsequent cooperation of relevant institutions with an emphasis on the integration of these entities into everyday life. However, the persons concerned should already have standard knowledge and skills in connection with the information obtained during compulsory school attendance in the framework of completing primary education in primary schools, where the basic guidelines for the content of the subject matter are set out in the framework curriculum for basic education. The paper analyses the importance and necessity of increasing economic and financial literacy as part of managerial skills. It focuses on the rationale of economic and financial literacy, particularly among graduates of different, non-management study programs who are in managerial positions, respectively who are in preparation process for managerial positions. It shows the fact that the economic and financial literacy is a complex managerial skill that in addition to training in management disciplines includes economic, legal, and socio-psychological knowledge and skills. The presented paper originated as part of the project VEGA 1/0662/15.

The Financial crisis in 2008 increased the focus of financial intermediaries and also national authorities for financial education and financial literacy of households. Bank association in Slovakia started to measure and increase the financial literacy of population and government implemented the National standard of financial literacy into the curriculum of grammar schools and high schools. This paper examines the level of financial literacy of students in Slovakia and the influence of determinants education level and education focus. We performed a questionnaire with 10 questions on a sample of 608 students from two Faculties of Slovak University of Agriculture. The questions were linked to 4 areas: interest, risk management, financial market and personal finance. To measure the level of financial literacy we use Index of financial literacy IFIG). Using Index of financial literacy and Mann-Whitney U test techniques we find that education level and education focus are relevant determinants of financial literacy level. Students with bachelor degree have better results when compared to high school students. The success rate measured by the IFIG of bachelor students was 0,658 and the success rate of high school students was 0,577. We also found differences based on the education focus. We compared two groups: students with economic focus of education with students with non-economic focus of education. Based on our results we can conclude that economic focus of education increases the level of financial literacy. The success rate of students with economic focus of education was significantly higher (0,674) compared to the students with non-economic focus of education (0,553).

The paper aims to highlight the important role of financial literacy as one of the factors that ensures sustainable development in society. First, the paper deals with the definition of financial literacy and the importance of financial literacy for society. It analyses various symptoms associated with the level of financial literacy in the form of household debt and the number of ordered property repossessions. Furthermore, the paper focuses on the measurement of financial literacy and, in this context, presents selected results of the survey of financial literacy from a selected group of respondents (university students) in the Czech Republic that were acquired as part of the "V4 Scientific Centers for the Enhancement of Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Education" project focused on research in the field of entrepreneurship education and financial literacy in Visegrad Group countries. Financial literacy is seen as one of the most important characteristics that can determine the behaviour of individuals in the world of finance, their approaches to payment discipline, debt and thinking for the future. In this regard, it is important to put emphasis on financial education as a tool for heightening and developing practical financial literacy.

- Abstract
The article examines the differences in individual discount rates among the Roma ethnic group (Gypsies) and the Czech ethnic group. Low income, low education, and currently unemployed participants (Roma N=27, Czechs N=23) were subjected to pilot experiments based on in-depth questionnaires. In addition to impulsivity (delay-discount rates), the correlation with cognitive aptitude, risk attitudes, and various socioeconomic and demographic characteristics were analysed. Even though the Roma group was characterised by lower cognitive abilities, education, and financial literacy, our results indicate that participants from both groups appear to be equally impatient, with discount rates close to the values of individuals dependent on addictive substances (according to the results of some earlier foreign studies). Nevertheless, the Roma ethnic group is better characterised by inconsistent discounting compared to the Czechs who behave more consistently. However, these results are not robust to alternative estimation characteristics. We also found a positive effect of financial literacy on savings in the Roma sample. The conclusion discusses the influence of the environmental context on impulsivity and reviews the limitations of the study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This dissertation was to present the relationship between low financial literacy and recurrence of homelessness. One of the many causes of homelessness in this case is lack of funds leading to foreclosures and debt and lack of financial responsibility. The research, which was carried out in the form of a qualitative approach with the method of case studies, which were made using observations and narrative interviews, showed that low financial literacy among homeless people manifests itself and is connected with their return to social services. In the case of debtors, for example, ignorance of the amount owed and fear of working as a full-time employee, in the sense of fear of enforcement deductions, when debtors have a misconception about deductions and non-disposal income. Their disregard for debt and overall financial irresponsibility will always land them back in the shelter, thus relapsing into homelessness. The results will be provided to social workers and workers in social services at Charita České Budějovice and students of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The work has the potential to serve as a basis for information on the issue of homelessness and education in the field of financial literacy.

The bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of adolescents' indebtedness. This is a topic that is not very reflected, but is very current. Qualitative research has been applied to the empirical part. To achieve the set goals and obtain the necessary data, the method of questioning and the technique of semi-structured interviews were used. The aim of the research was to find out what the subjective experience of the quality of life of indebted adolescents is. During the research of the bachelor's thesis, emphasis was placed on individual aspects of their lives. I followed up with the goal, which had the task of mapping the causes and consequences of indebtedness for this target group. The last goal of the research part was to find out whether adolescents have the motivation to repay their debts. The presence of debts in life has a negative effect on the subjective perception of quality of life. Indebtedness affects several areas of life, including health, relationships, leisure and behavior. Adolescents have the motivation to repay debts, but in connection with debts they are not satisfied with their own lives. One of the obstacles to reach satisfaction is the insufficient saturation of needs that are not met in connection with debt. The bachelor thesis could be useful in the field of social work, especially for students in this field who are interested in insight into this issue. The work could also be an incentive for social workers, who are not yet involved in the prevention of indebtedness in children and adolescents.

The Bachelor Thesis deals with the topic of financial literacy and readiness for independant living of young adults leaving children's homes and their peers growing up in families. The aim of the thesis is the comparison of these two groups. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The first one defines terms of institutional education and children's home, including their functions in the area of financial education. In addition, the theoretical part defines the term financial literacy, mainly the terms loans (focusing on short and medium term loans), their payments and risks that might have impact on the life of an adult. Another part comprises the description of financial education in various types of schools that children from children's homes as well as children with family background undertake. In the practical part there were used the following methods: qualitative research, questioning and semi-structured interview. There were involved 10 communication partners at the age from 18 to 20; half of them young adults from children's homes and the other half young adults with family background. The research questions focused on the level of financial literacy, personal budgeting abilities, income and expenses, opinions on loans. A part of the questions dealt with assessing the influence of children's home and family background on financial literacy of young adults. The thesis could be beneficial as it introduces a new view on the comparison of financial literacy of young adults from children's homes and their peers growing up in families. Moreover, it can provide useful information for employees of children's homes and other social workers who meet clients in need of help in the area of financial matters and thus it can improve the preparation of young adults leaving children's homes for their independent life.

There were about 6.7 % of inhabitants in foreclosure in the Czech Republic in 2020. The most likely cause is population's low financial literacy whose bases we get at primary school. So we asked whether pupils really learn financial literacy at primary school. We found data for teaching plan in the framework educational programme. We realised, using a questionnaire for teachers, among other things that the number of lessons dedicated to financial literacy is really low. We verified fulfilment of framework educational programme by a test for primary school pupils which was completed by 113 pupils. It showed that they have very low knowledge of financial literacy. Then, we evaluated the situation after primary school through the same test which was filled in by 157 people who completed primary school. The results were better than in case of pupils. Finally, we suggested steps for increasing financial literacy, for instance raising the number of lessons. 1

The steadily growing number of migrants in the Czech Republic results in an increase of foreigners participating in the labour market. The current issue of growing debts of migrants is not being properly discussed in czech society among experts and the general public. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out in what quantity, content and quality is debt counselling available for migrants in Prague. Using qualitative and supporting quantitative research, the result data show the impact of debt counseling on migrants in the territory of Prague. Debt counseling has a positive effect on the lives of migrants seeking help. At the same time it helps to solve their debt problems. On the other hand, there are barriers connected to debt counseling: insufficient capacity of counseling centers, small amount of available information and diversity of counseling centres. Mentioned barriers can be prevented with the creation of new information sources and expanding language availability.

The main aim of the dissertation is to define if there is a correlation between financial and mathematical literacy of high school pupils using a suitably designed methodology. Its aim is to determine whether and to what extent the pupils´ acquired mathematical knowledge and skills translate into the development of their financial literacy. The issue of financial educationis currently being studied. To live in a modern society, it is necessary for an individual to be financially literate, ie able to fully adapt to the changing conditions on the financial markets. The process of education begins in early childhood. The thesis focuses on secondary school pupils, who already become legally adults during their studies, ie they can conclude binding contracts. The thesis is divided into two basic parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part offers the reader a comprehensive search of available professional literature related to the issue. The theoretical part defines both literacies, ie financial and mathematical, and discusses their relationship. The reader is also acquainted with the issue of financial education in the Czech Republic and abroad. The empirical part describes the methodology of the implemented combined research, which links the methods of quantitative (ie questionnaire, didactic test) with the methods of qualitative (ie interview) survey with the help of the data triangulation method in order to increase its validity. The respondents were pupils of grammar schools and secondary technical schools with extended instruction in economic subjects across the Czech Republic. A sufficient sample was obtained to achieve a total 95% reliability level. Research has confirmed that there is a significant correlation between financial and mathematical literacy. It showed that a pupil's mathematical knowledge and skills are one of the effective tools for developing their financial literacy. It also showed that financial education can also be beneficial for teaching mathematics itself.

This thesis focuses on financial literacy in pre-school education. The aim of this thesis is to create a series of activities, that correspond to the development of pre-school children. The proposed activities relate to financial literacy in a broader sense, than just financial mathematics. The objective is to verify eligibility of proposed activities, both from the author's perspective, as well as from the perspective of the teachers of kindergarten, in which the research was set. The creation of proposed activities is based on the theoretical foundations obtained in the theoretical part of this work. The objective of the proposed activities is to introduce children to the fundamentals of financial literacy, initiate first experience, fortify designed habits and acquaint children with elementary concepts. The verification method is based on qualitative research with elements of action research. Observation of pre-school children during the activities served as main data collection method. The activities were captured on video for later analysis and post-reflection. The obtained data allowed possible modifications of activities and conditions of their implementation, as well as further recommendations for teacher practice.
