The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of film narration. It compares literary with film narration and presents the narrative forms in film. The work focuses mainly on the following questions: Who is the narrator? How is it defined? Does the film even have a narrator? If so, what does it look like? The theoretical explanation is complemented by specific examples from films in which the type of film narration and its possibilities are demonstrated

This thesis focuses on the concept of the trap for the reader, which is defined using the methodology of the cognitive science cognitive literary studies as an input of such structures and concepts in the text by which specific scheme is activated in the mind of the reader to be replaced by the different incompatible scheme. Based on this replacement, the comprehension of the text is reconstructed. Afterward, we describe specific types of trap for the reader. Every type of the trap is defined by replaced schemes: characters are prototypically an- thropomorphic, characters are black-and-white, characters are archetypes, the narrator speaks the truth, the genre is not changed. Excerpts of literary works are used to represent each type of trap. In the other part of the thesis, we demonstrate usage of this concept in the literature lessons at upper elementary and high schools. Both well-known pieces of the Czech literature, as well as contemporary young adult literature, are used as examples for the didactic use of this concept. In this bachelor's thesis, we will deal with the issue of a film adaptation of literary works in theory and practice. The work is divided into two significant parts. In the first part, we focus on the term of adaptation, which is an important process in the artistic environment, but also in the evolution one. Furthermore, we briefly present the history and development of film adaptations and deal with the finding of leading literary and film critics and theorists in the field of adaptation studies. In the second part, which is conducted as practical, we will introduce some basic literary and film techniques and their subsequent use in individual works of art. The books Milenci a vrazi [Lovers and Murderers] (1968) by Vladimír Páral, Misery (1987) by Stephen King, Heroic Measures (2009) by Jill Ciment and The Orchid Thief (1998) by Susan Orleans became the subject of research. All the works were adapted to the film screen at least once at a certain time. Literary works and their film adaptations were selected on the basis of significant differences in the use of narrative, ie. verbal and visual means.

Studie vychází z projektu Studentská generace roku 1989 v časosběrné perspektivě. Životopisná interviews po dvaceti letech. V první části soustředí autorka pozornost na jedinečný vztah narátora a tazatele, zejména na jeho specifika v rámci longitudinálního orálně historického výzkumu. Dále se zamýšlí nad s tím související problematikou reflexivity. Ve druhé části analyzuje rozhovory realizované v rámci tohoto projektu, a porovnává je s rozhovory dvacet let starými, na něž současná interview navazují, a navíc i s rozhovory, které vznikly pro projekt Paměť národa. Autorka se zabývá otázkou, do jaké míry jsou vyprávění narátorů konzistentní v čase, a jak se odvíjí interakce mezi týmž narátorem a dvěma či třemi jinými tazateli.

The Bachelor's thesis focuses on the concept of so called abstract author. It deals with various forms of abstract author's subject developed in literary theory and narratology: scriptor of R. Barthes, implied author of W. Booth, model author of U. Eco or abstract author of W. Schmid. Futher, the differences between the concepts and the polemics that accompany them (Chatman, Rimmon-Kenanová etc.) are reflected.

The main aim of this work is to describe the history and development of Czech Television's regional news coverage in years from 1992 till 2012, using the testimonies of direct TV staff involved in this reporting beyond the available resources, thereby expanding the amount of information on this issue. To achieve this information, the oral history method was used and the subsequent verification of the information obtained was done using the literature, diploma theses, annual reports and other sources in this work specified. The result of this work is the extension and addition of new facts and information about the history of Czech Television's regional news, especially of internal character, not yet obtainable from available professional publications or public reports and data. These include information on the nature of interpersonal relations in regional news, the attempt to influence the outward processing and thematic focus of the editorial offices and the specific technical and structural development of individual regional editorial offices. The thesis Vypravěčské strategie v povídkách Raymonda Carvera deals with the literary concept of a narrator. It's results - typologically different narrators and their characterizations - are based on reading and analysis of all published Carver's short stories. The thesis is divided into two main parts - into the theoretical part in which we briefly introduce the development and fundamental concepts of narrator in the literary theory (e.g. in concepts of F. K. Stanzel, K. Friedmann, G. Genette, T. Todorov, D. Cohn, S. Chatman, J. Culler, J. H. Miller and W. C. Booth) and into the practical part which analyses and characterizes those narrative strategies and types with the use of previously introduced terms and theories. The result of this thesis is a lucid list of different narrative types in Carver's short stories.

The presented thesis focuses on the phenomenon of child narrator/protagonist in the role of the main actor and intermediary of fictional world in literature for adults. The first chapter is devoted mainly to the theoretical concept of narrator as a significant narratological category. The second chapter presents literature for children and youth in comparison to literature primarily intended for adult readers and looks for their mutual inspirations. Above all, the concept of children aspect is defined. In the practical part, the thesis aims for stylistic analysis, thematic interpretation and comparison of four narrative texts from Anglophone literature. These are The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, Black Swan Green by David Mitchell, Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman and Cormac McCarthy's The Road. These texts, having a child narrator/protagonist in common, are not primarily intended to be read by children. I see this as a certain strategy of writers, which however fully functions only in such a case, when the authenticity of child narrator/protagonist is maintained. Thus, such elements which we could connect with the concept of children aspect are deliberately used there. My objective is therefore to link the concept of children aspect with a specifically defined literature for adults. I also inquire why child narrators/protagonists are used in literature for adults and what their functions are, how and to what extent can a child narrator/protagonist convey fictional world, what the children in the followed texts are like, how the perceive the world around them, how they impart to us what they see, think and feel, and what possibilities of description of the world through a child's eyes it offers to authors.

The subject matter of this thesis is the presentation of a typology of rural imagery based on a thematic and interpretative analysis of Polish and Czech literary texts from the 1960s with respect to the ongoing changes made to the original romantic-realist concept of the rural novel. The analysis of specific literary works (Sekyra by Ludvík Vaculík, Smuteční slavnost by Eva Kantůrková, and Čas kopřiv by Josef Knap from Czech literature, and, from Polish literature, Opadaný sad by Wiesław Myśliwski, the novels Na slunci by Julian Kawalec and … až budeš králem, až budeš katem… by Tadeusz Nowak) permits us to create a basic register of elements of rural narrativity which, however, Czech and Polish literatures have different perspectives on. Through this dichotomy we present typical narratives contained in the Czech and Polish rural novel of the given period. The subsequent interpretative analysis of the texts takes inspiration from contemporary narratology with special attention to the narrator and time categories, and by extension to the interplay of these categories with individual themes, symbols and topoi.

This bachelor thesis deals with Jan Zábrana's short stories from the 1950s. With the example of the short story V noci u pece, it tries to demonstrate the specifics of Zábrana's prose in the context of literary history. In the first place, it examines the "illusion of reality" which arises during reading of the text. At the same time, it tries to prove that prose is determined by historical circumstances. Therefore, the thesis focuses on the following categories: narrator, language, space and time. In order to analyze these categories, suitable works of literary theory dealing with the individual categories have been consulted and the consequent findings are demonstrated on specific examples from Zábrana's text.

This bachelor thesis focuses on the problems of aesthetic distance and its expressions in fiction and fictional worlds. It analyses texts dealing with the theory of fiction and searches them for a certain mode of dissociation, which can be identified with the concept of psychical distance. Based on illustrative examples concerning aesthetic situations, it shows that psychical distance is an artistic principle derived from the recipient's attitude, and therefore a basic factor for the formation of fictional worlds as such.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to approach to the life of forced workers, who were involuntarily recruited to work for The German Empire during the Second World War. This thesis has two parts. The first one is theoretical where you can find the accurate information from specialized literature. This information specifies particular characteristics of forced labour. It describes the method of oral history, dividing of forced workers, division of their recruitment and mainly their life conditions in time of forced labour. The second part of this thesis includes contemporary witnesses´ interviews collected by the oral history method. In this part of work there are compared the individual life stories. Furthermore, the obtained information are compared between the contemporary witnesses and bibliography.

The first part of the thesis presents didactically transformed interpretation about Jan Neruda, his life and work, and about Povídky malostranské as a part of the complex. There is general information about the cycle of short stories. The process of creating of this work and also the themes are outlined here (distinctive features of Povídky malostranské), which could be used at school. Lessons can be focused on the characters, narrative style, or spacetime. In the following chapters there are the basic facts about Czech pubescent readers, the evaluation of structured interviews with primary school teachers about their experiences and the way how to work with Povídky malostranské there is summarized knowledge about the way how the authors handle the topic of Povídky malostranské of reading-books. The three model lessons based on the working with the texts (each lesson is focused on one of the distinctive features of this work) are the important part of this thesis. These lessons were taught at elementary school, therefore they are provided with the evaluation.

This study deals with aspects of the everyday social reality of the forced community in the Terezin ghetto in 1941-1945. It is a microsociological introspection of the life of the prisoners that lived in the ghetto. It aims to define social factors that influenced the lives of people that were stigmatized, fought for their lives and lived in border-line situations. The research part of the study uses biographical method. It uses 10 recorded testimonials of survivors - former Terezin prisoners. The research was carried out by means of partly structured interviews. The questions dealt with internal and external factors that created the daily reality of this forced community. The aim was to map their subjective perception of life conditions, social ties, both negative and positive factors and further personal utterances of the narrators. The testimonies serve for better and deeper understanding of the Terezin reality. The factors that affected the community in a negative way included fear of the unknown, fear of loosing close friends and relatives, very bad life conditions that strongly affected the negative mind-set of people and loss of moral values. In contrast, the positive factors included culture and sports that were welcomed by the prisoners as they allowed them to shift aside gloomy thoughts....

The bachelor thesis is primarily focused on the aspects of unreliable narration in literature and deals with its characterization and assessment. It presents several theoretical expositions of unreliability accompanied by the analysis of the chosen literary illustrations demonstrating the discussed issues on the concerete samples. The indidvidual insights display that unreliability in naration is marked with disunity of opinion and a number of different attitudes. These facts result in substantially diverse interpretations of the particular literary works when apllying different criteria connected with distinct scholarly approaches. Simultaneously, the discrepancy of estimations and the thesis in general reflect dynamics, attractiveness and variety of this narratological category.

6 The result of my thesis is the finding that narrative analysis is an approach that allows understanding biblical text in a bigger scope. The better comprehension is particularly given by understanding of the deep narrative structures. This works also for the exegesis where the narrative-analytical frame serves as a sieve that separates statements burdened by theology. However these statements can be seen as the door through which we can enter the story and determine its fundamental message. On the other hand, narrative approach cannot be considered as an all-embracing approach for understanding the Old Testament text, because it does not help us neither to discover what exactly led the author to create the Absalom's cycle, nor to define what demands he places on the readers.

This dissertation deals with three selected French novels written by Milan Kundera: La lenteur, L´identité, L´ignorance. The aim is to make an analysis of these works, which are known as "the French cycle". We focus especially on the process of the construction of a narrative world (by using the semantics of fictional worlds and narratological concepts), as well as on the thematic level of these works. At the center of our dialogue with the novels is the question of whether they could create a real cycle, and what are the aspects that could connect them to each another. We also pay attention to the position of these works in the context of Kundera´s other writings.

The topic of presented bachelor thesis is the narrative concept of short stories created by Ignát Herrmann. All analysed short stories are included in Pražské figurky and Drobní lidé. We will be focused on narrative strategies of chosen stories. The concepts of fictional narrator, narrative acts and the presentation of narration will be followed as well. Introducing theoretical part will define fundamental terms of narratology and the practical part will be analysing concrete stories. The final results will allow us to compare Herrmann?s stories with the most significant ones ? with the short stories of Jan Neruda.

This bachelor thesis introduces basic knowledge about the so-called phenomenon of fanfiction, i.e. a complex of narrative works of literature written by fans. It presents the most significant details and issues of this phenomenon and introduces its place among other works of literature. An explanation of how fanfiction uses a fictional world of a canonical work and a comparison of fanficion and transcript follows after. The thesis discusses fictional entities and the positions of an author, a narrator, and a reader. A summary of the most common terms used in fanfiction completes this thesis.

(in English): The bachelor's diploma thesis deals with the prose fiction of Miloš Urban and aims at a complex interpretation of his work with the help of the key narratives categories. The text of the thesis is based on textual analysis and application of established narrative concepts and categories. Therefore, it covers the categories of the plot, protagonists, space, time and the narrator; each category is first specified in its general terms and then applied to the analysis of specific texts.

The role of a writer in selected metafictional novels Bc. Eva Šulcová Abstract This diploma thesis deals with the genre of metafictional novel. The aim of the diploma thesis is to identify various internal motivations for the usage of metafiction technique in literature and to describe the role of a writer. The first part summarizes the theoretical background of the genre and formulates some characteristic features of metafictional novel (emphasized vicariousness of the narrative, reflection of the creative act, personality of the writer, or the problematized relationship between reality and fiction), which were all illustrated by the analysis of André Gide's novel The Counterfeiters. The second part consists of interpretations of three metafictional novels. The interpretations aim at a complex analysis of the author and at a description of various functions of the metafiction technique as a constituent of the work's meaning. Gide uses metafiction to display the discrepancy between reality and illusion, thus uncovering hypocrisies of society and passing judgement on it. To Čapek, metafiction is a tool for applying multiperspectivity to his storyline, thus creating a metaphor of varying epistemic principles. Vít Kazmar - Juan Filloy: A myth, an author, a work The work Juan Filloy: A myth, an author, a work focuses on the neglected Argentinian writer Juan Filloy (1894 - 2000) and its aim is to serve as an introduction to his work that has received little attention so far. Its first part is dedicated to the analysis of the myth that has spread around the author and completely eclipsed his work. It consists mainly of anecdotal features of his personality and it touches his work only superficially. However, the status of an unknown writer is determined in large part by Filloy's own decision to live in a small town and publish the books himself, as well as by his demanding style, wide vocabulary and often very provocative language and themes. However, it is possible to find some key attributes of his aesthetics in the myth about the author: the palindromes mean a turning toward language as well as the strict and disciplined approach; the wide vocabulary points to the desire of precision of expression etc. The majority of the work then concentrates on the analysis of the author's language and on the interpretation of the novel Op Oloop. The language of Juan Filloy is characteristic by contrast, clarity and order. The central stylistic tool is parallelism; the structure of sentences often becomes a space for...

In my bachelor thesis I will deal with works of Hana Bělohradská which were published in the sixties of the twentieth century. In this her early works - Bez krásy, bez límce, Vítr se stočí k jihovýchodu and Poslední večeře I will mainly focus on reflection of displayed reality. I will try this reflection through narratological category of a narrator. I will define this narratological category in theory and then I will try to apply this theoretical knowledge on a narrator in the works of Hana Bělohradská. The important elements of my work will also be chapter which will focus on the personality, life and the benefits of the writer Hana Bělohradská. I will deal especially with the formation of her early poetics and also with the question of blame and offense in her work.

This bachelor thesis deals with narrative strategy in the first Czech Olga Barényi´s novel. Janka, the novel from the early 40´s of the 20th century is still ignored by literary public. This work is trying to change this attitude and to demonstrate why this novel can be attractive for the readers. The aim is to make a detailed analysis of the novel, using mainly narrative methodology and to study which means the author uses in the story and if they are unusual or regularly used in the context of Czech period prose.

Work "Short exotic stories in work of Julius Zeyer" deals with five selected Zeyer's works that are set in the exotic land of India and Far East. One prose is associated with India, the other four with China and Japan. The works are a result of careful collecting, translating and creative work of Julius Zeyer. The present diploma thesis outlined in brief the life of Julius Zeyer and its role in the contemporary literature. It characterized Zeyer's interest in the exotic motives and way he followed them. The diploma thesis also considered form of the Zeyer's prose. The present work examined characteristics of plot and main characters and as well as the representation of the exotic places. It showed that the narrative places take part in creating the atmosphere that corresponds to the current experience of the characters. The nature of the characters is revealed against the background of the plot. Zeyer elaborated mutual connection between the characters and areas. Part of the interpretation was in each case devoted to the overall Zeyer's evocation of India, China and Japan and its artistic depth.

This thesis analyzes narrative strategies of Kurt Vonnegut as a postmodern author with a specific style. The first part defines postmodernism as opposed to modernism and explains all essential notions to provide the theoretical background. This part also includes a biographical element, describing the important events of the author's life, as these had a major influence on his work. Second part of the thesis analyzes the narrative style of the two selected books, Breakfast of Champions and Mother Night. The conclusion summarizes the most important specifics of the author's narrative strategies and style in the given books. This thesis presents Kurt Vonnegut as a significant and influential representative of postmodern American literature of the second half of the 20th century. Vonnegut fully employs the narrative strategies typical for this period, and by experimenting he creates his own unique style.
