Peer-to-peer networks allow development of high-performance, scalable and fault-tolerant applications. The most widely used peer-to-peer networks are mostly single-purpose (e.g. file-sharing) and usually lack countermeasures aga- inst sybil nodes; typical task distribution systems are centralized, which limits their performance. In this work we have analyzed the usability of peer-to-peer architecture for task distribution and designed the required infrastructure (file storage and search) including evaluation of possible security features. In order to evaluate the proposed design's usability we have implemented a client ap- plication (node) participating in the network's function, allowing access to files shared by other nodes and task distribution within the network. The resulting application is multi-platform and can be extended with more functionality.

The internet has become the biggest phenomenon of last two decades. In a significant manner it affects our society and changes its behaviour in private, commercial and public life. Through an easy connection with almost any part of the world our current society has become global indeed. Facilitation and significant acceleration of communication and transfer of relatively large amount of data bears many difficulties and risks. Therefore this thesis is focused on some aspects and corresponding legal concepts, including those, which are of entirely new nature because of the internet evolvement. The work is divided into four main parts according to areas they are related to. First one introduces general matters of the internet, its formation and fundamental issues of its structure, operation and legal consequences. Next part describes the internet from the scope of copyright and impacts on this legal concept. Legal implications of P2P networks, position of ISPs and statutory development in some countries whereof consequence is the limitation of fundamental human rights and freedoms in favour of higher efficiency in application of copyright protection is also subject of this chapter. Legal issues of the Internet from the scope of international and national law Global internet network has changed the social, political and business life of most people in the World. Communication is much faster, the flow of information all around the World takes a few seconds. Exchange of political opinions, personal and business information, works protected by copyright and other information has become unstoppable. Members of the international community are trying to tackle this new challenge to their legal and political systems. This diploma thesis is describing some arreas of private law where Internet plays the most important role and has changed the scope and interpretation of many legal rules. The work is dividend into two main parts. The first one deals with general aspects of the Internet such as its history, architecture, different regulatory layers, the copyright law on-line, general legal issues arising from the Yahoo! case and its impact on political systems.
