Dit verkennend onderzoek geeft inzicht in wat het effect is van social media op de besluitvorming binnen het assetmanagement proces van een publieke infrastructuur organisatie. Dit onderzoek is uitgevoerd met een enkelvoudige case study bij een overheidsinstantie die verantwoordelijk is voor infrastructuur in Nederland. Social media neemt een enorme toevlucht en kan voor het assetmanagementproces consequenties hebben. Social media data kan informatie over de toestand van de infrastructuur geven. Social media kan gebruikt worden om te meten hoe het publiek de performance van de infrastructuur ervaart, het zogenoemde omgevingsbeeld en publieksbeeld over de infrastructuur. In dit onderzoek staat beschreven hoe publieke infrastructuur organisaties social media gebruiken. Commotie op Social media kan als een early warning melding fungeren. Daarnaast zorgt social media commotie voor journalistieke aandacht wat vervolgens tot bestuurlijke commotie leidt en uiteindelijk tot politieke aandacht. Hierdoor kunnen vooraf genomen assetmanagement besluiten overruled worden door commotie op social media.

Erythrocytosis is a phenomenon with life-threatening complications and a broad differential diagnosis. Erythrocytosis is usually secondary to a cardiopulmonary condition leading to a low arterial oxygen tension. A probable diagnosis can often be made on the basis of the history, physical examination, a measurement of the peripheral oxygen saturation, and simple laboratory tests. The differential diagnosis can be narrowed down by a determination of the erythropoietin concentration and the JAK2 mutation. If the erythrocytosis is found to be non-physiological, then reduction of the haematocrit via bloodletting and, depending on the diagnosis, treatment with acetylsalicylic acid are indicated

In two women, aged 59 and 31 years, who suffered from an itching cutaneous nodule, subcutaneous dirofilariasis was diagnosed. The disease is characterised by recurrent migrating subcutaneous nodules and swellings. Both patients recently visited the South of France. Laboratory examination revealed a moderate eosinophilia. In both patients, filaria antibodies were demonstrated during the course of the disease and a nodule was eventually resected. Parasitological examination revealed Dirofilaria repens. After this the swellings did not recur. Dirofilariasis is a zoonosis common in dogs and cats, and is transmitted by mosquitoes. In humans, the most common clinical manifestation is a migrating subcutaneous nodule in the case of D. repens, and a pulmonary infiltrate (coin lesion on radiographs) in the case of Dirofilaria immitis. Filarial serology is often positive. The diagnosis is confirmed by parasitological examination of the excised nodule.
