This paper explores the intersection of spirituality and martial arts through an in-depth examination of Shaolin Kung Fu as practiced within the Shaolin Monastery in Henan Province, China. Conducting fieldwork from April 2018 to August 2020, the study employs theories of practice and embodiment to understand how religious teachings are interwoven into physical movements and martial practices. This phenomenological analysis of bodily movement integrates the physical body with the sense of self, highlighting the relationship between individual habitus and the agency of the moving body, referred to as the "lived body." It argues that Shaolin martial artists engage in a form of dynamic embodiment, where Chan Buddhist doctrines are embedded within the "lived body," influencing both movement and perception. This process allows practitioners to interpret and interact with their socio-cultural environment through a religious lens, highlighting the deep connection between spiritual beliefs and bodily actions. The paper presents a comprehensive approach, combining intensive participant observation, historical analysis, and a close look at both the communal and individual aspects of monastic life and learning. By examining narratives, daily routines, and pedagogical methods, the study reveals how the socio-cultural setting of the monastery fosters collective habitus and transforms the individual habitus of practitioners. It shows how this transformation contributes to the development of a spiritual dimension in their martial performance. By highlighting the link between the habitus, the lived body, and the dynamic embodiment, the paper extends the current discourse on embodiment, offering a novel perspective on the relationship between spirituality, culture, and physical practice in the context of Shaolin Kung Fu. Henan Province is the birthplace of Chinese civilization and one of the earliest human settlements, which means that the area has an important national cultural heritage. Traditional villages are an important facet of this cultural heritage, and studying their spatiotemporal characteristics in different periods has important theoretical and practical significance for the sustainable development and protection of cultural heritage in the region. This paper takes the traditional villages of the Yellow River basin in Henan Province that were formed before 1919 as the research object. Information on the ancient river was obtained through a literature search as well as via field research, and the important tributaries of the Yellow River in different periods were mapped using ArcGIS 10.0 software. The nearest neighbor index, kernel density estimation, standard deviation ellipse and other methods were adopted to analyze the spatiotemporal characteristics of the traditional villages. The factors that influenced the evolution of traditional villages were explored in depth by combining changes in the course of the river and water conservancy projects. The results show that the formation of traditional villages along the Yellow River in Henan Province has experienced a historical track of growth, contraction, growth and prosperity and stability. The traditional villages along the Yellow River in Henan Province generally show a clustered pattern, forming a dense concentration of traditional villages in the middle reaches of the Yellow River. The center of gravity shows a migration trend from southeast to northwest. In terms of influencing factors, the spatiotemporal evolution of the relationship between villages and their distance to water is closely related to climatic fluctuations, changes in channel, water conservancy projects and social and cultural factors. This paper deepens our understanding of the relationship between traditional village evolution and watersheds by improving the consistency between village spatial distribution and historical geography and provides a useful theoretical reference for the sustainable development of China's traditional villages. The dislocation between regional innovation and economic development directly influences the economic effect of regional innovation. However, no in-depth researches have been made on how to solve this problem. Using data from Henan Province, China, employing geographical detector technology, this paper focuses on testing whether the industry-university-research cooperation can contribute to coordinating the relation between regional innovation and economic development. It is shown that: 1) the industry-university-research cooperation in Henan Province is increasing gradually, and the network presents a core-edge structure, and the coupling degree between regional innovation and economic development is spatially unbalanced, which is similar to the spatial distribution of the intensity of industry-university-research cooperation; 2) as an important approach to effectively connect scientific researches with market demands, the industry-university-research cooperation can help form an interactive, interconnected, coupled and coordinated virtuous relation between regional innovation and economic development. Compared with the cooperation between organizations of the same type and the separate innovation of organizations, the improvement of the industry-university-research cooperation level can better coordinate the relation between regional innovation and economic development; 3) the cooperative innovation model between enterprises and universities can better promote the coupling between regional innovation and economic development, compared with many industry-university-research cooperation models. For underdeveloped areas lacking local knowledge base, industry-university-research cooperation should be considered as a long-term development strategy, especially using the knowledge sources of external universities and scientific research institutions to enhance innovation capability and achieve economic growth. As the carrier of human economic activities, the change of territorial space affects the level of regional carbon balance. Therefore, with regional carbon balance as the goal, this paper proposed a framework from the perspective of production-living-ecological space and took Henan Province of China as a study area for empirical research. First, the study area established an accounting inventory that considers nature, society, and economic activities to calculate carbon sequestration/emission. Then, the spatiotemporal pattern of carbon balance was analyzed by ArcGIS from 1995 to 2015. Later, the CA-MCE-Markov model was used to simulate the production-living-ecological space pattern in 2035, and carbon balance in three future scenarios was predicted. The study showed that from 1995 to 2015, the living space gradually expanded, and the aggregation rose while the production space decreased. Carbon sequestration (CS) was less than carbon emission (CE) and presented an unbalanced state of negative income in 1995, while CS exceeded CE and showed a positive income imbalance in 2015. In 2035, living space has the highest carbon emission capacity under natural change scenario (NC), while ecological space has the highest carbon sequestration capacity under ecological protection scenario (EP), and production space has the highest carbon sequestration capacity under food security scenario (FS). In recent years, the survival and development of traditional villages in China have been serious challenges. Rural tourism is regarded as an important way to solve rural problems, and the combination of rural culture and tourism has become a new power point for rural development. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the spatial distribution structure between traditional villages and rural tourism. In this paper, rural tourism was represented by the rural tourism characteristic village (RTCV), and Henan Province, China, was taken as a study area to analyze the distribution pattern and spatial correlation of rural tourism and traditional village (TV) and discuss the relationship between the spatial correlation and regional natural environment and socioeconomic factors. The results show that the coupling of the spatial correlation between RTCVs and TVs in Henan was clear. They could be divided into 5 regions based on geographical factors. In addition, the research summarized 4 typical spatial structures between TVs and RTCVs in Henan based on the regional symbiosis theory, and the spatial pattern formation mechanism of TVs and RTCVs was discussed based on three driving mechanisms. In this paper, an empirical analysis is proposed by employing a regression-based convergence test, which was first introduced by Phillips and Sul. Unlike most related studies, this approach allows examining for evidence of club convergence and enables to endogenously identify groups of counties that converge to different equilibria. The results obtained in this paper support the existence of convergence clubs, indicating that 108 counties of Henan Province in China form four separate groups within which income per capita dispersion is decreasing over time. Moreover, results from an ordered logit model suggest that differences in initial income, physical capital, government intervention, geographical agglomeration, and topography factor among these counties have played vital roles in determining club membership. The most important conclusion of this paper is that the structural characteristics and infrastructure level do not contribute to determining club membership, and neighbors' effect is also not a decisive factor. Particularly, counties which belong to Central Henan Urban Agglomeration are more likely to fall into a club with a higher mean income per capita. The information released by the public on various social media platforms can assist experts in decision-making, thus improving the reliability of the decision-making results and increasing their likelihood of gaining public support. However, the determination of how to fully integrate public opinions with expert opinions and in what aspects to realize the integration is a research topic worthy of attention. Based on this, this paper proposes a multi-subject weighted information fusion method that fully considers public opinion. First, the Bayesian subject model is used to obtain the attribute set of public opinion, and the sentiment analysis technique is used to calculate the reference attribute weights. Second, public opinion is utilized to improve the traditional best–worst method to determine the subjective attribute weights of experts at a faster rate. Third, expert weights are determined using "knowledge" and attribute weights are defined at the aggregate level. Fourth, the cluster weights are determined according to the proximity of the clustered opinions to the public opinions, and the clustered opinions are then summarized to get the overall decision-making information, thus scientifically realizing the synergistic decision-making between the public and experts. Finally, the case of a rainstorm emergency in Henan Province, China, is used to analyze and determine the best plan that matches with the actual situation, and the results are then compared with the findings of existing research to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method. Understanding households' attitudes and willingness to pay (WTP) for clean heating can provide a scientific basis for decision-makers to assess the potential to develop clean heating, choose heating methods, and formulate subsidy standards in the region. In this paper, the double-bounded dichotomous contingent valuation method—modified by the spike model—was used to better estimate the actual WTP of households through a sample survey of 456 households in rural areas of Yongcheng City, China, in 2021. The factors influencing attitudes and WTP were examined to reveal mechanisms of accepting clean heating. The results showed that 94.96% of households were willing to pay for clean heating. The annual WTP was 1071 yuan per household, more than eight times the current heating cost. Factors that affect clean heating attitudes do not necessarily affect the WTP. Specifically, gender, length of time spent living at home, and family income had significant influences on WTP, whereas the educational level, adaptive perceptions in relation to environmental perceptions, and the recognition variables for gender equality in energy consumption had a significant impact on attitudes. The mechanical parameter inversion model is an essential part of ensuring dam health; it provides a parametric basis for assessing the safe operational behavior of dams using numerical simulation techniques. Due to the complicated nonlinear mapping relationship between the roller compacted concrete (RCC) dam's mechanical parameters and various environmental quantities, as well as conventional statistical models, machine learning methods, and neural networks fail to consider the inputs of fuzzy uncertainty factors. Therefore, the accuracy, efficiency, and stability of inversion models are usually affected by their modeling methods. In this paper, a novel hybrid model for mechanical parameter inversion of an RCC dam is proposed, which uses a radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) to establish the nonlinear mapping relationship between the dam mechanical parameters and the environmental quantities, and the modified particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to find the optimal parameters of the model. The modified PSO algorithm makes the inertia weight ω dynamically adjust with the number of iterations to improve the randomness and diversity of the particle population, and population crossover and mutation are introduced to improve the global search ability and convergence speed of the algorithm. The proposed hybrid model is verified and comparatively analyzed by four typical mathematical test functions, and the results show that the proposed model exhibits good performance in parameter inversion accuracy, convergence speed, stability and robustness. Finally, the model is applied to the mechanical parameter inversion analysis of an RCC gravity dam in Henan Province in China. The results show that the proposed model is feasible and reasonable for practical engineering applications, and the relative error between the results obtained by inputting the inverted parameters into the numerical model and monitoring data was within 10%. In compensation events in some parts of China, funds for water and ecological compensation are usually allocated using the factor allocation method, which often fails to satisfy all stakeholders and affects the overall efficiency of ecological compensation Managers need to rethink the effectiveness of the fund allocation method in order to reduce stakeholder complaints and maintain the stability of the ecological protection system. In addition, the dynamic adjustment of the weights in the funding allocation process is an important means of satisfying stakeholders in real time. This paper is based on the entropy weight method (EWM), which has an objective weighting process, introduces fuzzy cognitive map (FCM) theory, integrates objective entropy weights with the state values in FCM, and uses the advantages of the objective assignment of EWM to compensate for the subjective nature of the initial assignment of FCM. At the same time the correlation weights of FCM provide a feedback mechanism for EWM allocation, which makes EWM dynamically adjustable and enhances the practicality of EWM allocation, resulting in an EWM-FCM integration method. The feedback function of the method was used to calculate the case of water ecological compensation funds allocated for the Yellow River (Henan section) in China, and a variety of options for the allocation ratio of water ecological compensation funds were calculated. Industrial water consumption is a major component of the total regional water consumption. Accurate and scientific prediction of industrial water consumption is an essential guide to the rational use of natural resources. In this paper, we proposed a combined model of CEEMD (collective empirical modal decomposition) and ARIMA (autoregressive integrated moving average) for forecasting industrial water consumption to establish an accurate and efficient forecasting model, because of the poor generalization ability of most current industrial water consumption forecasting models. The influencing factors of industrial water consumption are complex, and the data are non-stationary. "Decomposition-prediction-reconstruction" is one of the significant methods for forecasting time series data, and the data decomposition has a suppressive influence on the modal mixing problem in the EMD decomposition procedure. Based on the smoothing ability of CEEMD for non-smooth signals and the better adaptation of the autoregressive moving average prediction model (ARIMA), a combined CEEMD-ARIMA model was established for industrial water consumption forecasting. This study was conducted for industrial water consumption in Henan Province in central China. The results suggest the combined CEEMD-ARIMA model has a favorable forecasting effect, with an average relative percentage error of 1.96%, and mean square error (MSE) of 0.35, a Nash efficiency coefficient (NSE) of 0.95, a prediction pass rate of 100%, and a better prediction accuracy than the ARIMA model and the combined EEMD-ARIMA model. The crop water relationship quantification is conducive to decision-making for regional food safety and resource conservation. However, irrigation water and crop water footprint (CWF) was observed separately in previous studies, which leads to incomplete evaluation of water resource occupation in agricultural system. The crop water resource use (WRU), combining WF and irrigation water accounting, in 31 provinces of China from 1999 to 2018 was estimated in current paper. The driving forces of WRU were analyzed using the logarithmic mean divisia index (LMDI) model, based on its spatial and temporal patterns demonstration. The results showed that national WRU increased from 1051.6 Gm3 in 1999 to 1676.4 Gm3 in 2018, with an average annual growth rate of 2.48%. The provinces with high WRU were mainly distributed in North China and Northeast China. Hebei, Shandong, and Henan jointly contributed 28.9% of the national WRU. In addition, economic level was the largest contributor to promote the growth of WRU, and water use intensity was the most important contributor to inhibit the growth of WRU. Economic level, resource endowment, and population size had a promoting effect on WRU in Northeast, Northwest, North China, and Southeast provinces, while water use intensity, irrigation technique, and urbanization degree showed inhibitory effect in Northeast, Northwest, and Southwest provinces. It is meaningful to combine water footprint and irrigation water use for agricultural water management and conservation. The arid North China Plain should adopt water-saving irrigation and rainwater recycling technologies to control WRU, and the Northeast granary should reduce WRU by strengthening water pollution prevention and improving water resources scheduling to ensure food security and sustainable use of water resources. China's natural gas market is focusing on price reform and aims to reconstruct vertically integrated industrial chains in the future. Based on the mixed complementarity problem model of gas markets with nodes in Henan Province, China, as an example, this paper applies numerical modeling to simulate the effects of social welfare and equilibrium prices on nodes in two scenarios: pipeline integration and pipeline separation. The findings reveal the following: (1) Pipeline separation yields greater overall social welfare than pipeline integration, with the welfare shifting from gas producers to consumption markets. (2) Pipeline separation lowers the equilibrium consumption prices by driving competition among gas supply sources. Since China's reform and opening up in 1978, the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization in China had led to dramatic changes in the pattern of urban-rural land use. In this paper, we focused on the rural industrialized areas in central China (Xinxiang County and Changyuan City of Henan Province). We used the average nearest neighbor index, spatial statistical analysis, and a structural equation model to analyze the spatiotemporal evolution and influencing factors of urban-rural construction land based on multi-source spatial data and survey data. The results showed that: 1) from 1975 to 2019, the spatial distribution of urban-rural construction land in rural industrialized areas had evolved from homogeneous distribution to local agglomeration. In terms of comparative analysis of cases, the spatial distribution of urban-rural construction land in Changyuan City had shown a trend from diffusion to agglomeration, and Xinxiang County had overall shown a spatial change from homogenization to agglomeration and then to regional integration development. 2) The hot spots with increased urban-rural construction land significantly expanded, and they had a high degree of spatial overlap with industrial development. Among them, Xinxiang County was concentrated in central and marginal areas, and Changyuan was mainly concentrated in central urban areas. 3) From the evolution of spatial proximity of urban-rural construction land, rural industrialized areas generally decline, showing the characteristics of internal differentiation in the rate of change. 4) Industrial development, social economy, the policy environment, and urban development played a positive role in promoting the expansion of urban-rural construction land in rural industrialized areas. To promote the optimal use of regional land and the integrated development of urban-rural areas, we should combine the advantages of regional endowment, formulate development strategies according to local conditions, and adjust the way that land is used in a timely manner. A large landslide occurred on May 2, 2014, on the south bank of the Yellow River in Huaipa village, Mianchi County, Henan Province, China. The total volume of the slide was about 4 million m3. The landslide caused serious damage to the water-conveying pipeline at the foot of the slope, which was for water supply from the Yellow River to Manchi County and Yima City. After the event, the engineering geological characteristics, influencing factors and failure mechanism were investigated by field investigation and geological mapping. Then, the failure process and the effect of anti-tipping locked segment were presented by three-dimensional (3D) numerical simulation. The results showed that the destruction of the anti-tipping locked segment in the front edge due to open-pit mining was the main factor of slope failure. The sliding mass, composed of loose silty clay and heavily weathered sandstone and mudstone, and rainfall infiltration were other factors triggering the slide. According to 3D numerical simulation, the stability coefficient of the landslide was 1.35 in natural condition and 1.26 when the sliding body was saturated by continuous rainfall, before the anti-tipping locked segment was destroyed, while the stability coefficient decreased significantly to 1.04 after the anti-tipping strata were destroyed. The whole failure occurred when the sliding mass was saturated by continuous rainfall (the stability coefficient is 0.88). This paper can provide an insight into the effect of anti-tipping locked segment on the failure mechanism of landslide associated with open-pit mining and rainfall. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The sustainable development of China's economy and society has been restricted by energy and environmental issues. With the implementation of the Rise of Central China strategy, Henan, a populous province in China, is facing the threat of an energy shortage as its economy grows steadily and the urbanization process accelerates. Using panel data of 18 cities in Henan Province for the period of 2006–2018, this study investigates the relationship between energy consumption and economic and social development variables based on the extended Stochastic Impacts by Regression on Population, Affluence, and Technology (STIRPAT) model and threshold regression method. The empirical results indicate that economic and social development are significantly positively correlated with total electricity consumption, although there is regional heterogeneity in this relationship. Moreover, there is evidence for a nonlinear relationship between economic and social development and urban energy consumption. These conclusions not only promote the healthy and sustainable economic development of Henan Province but also provide a reference for other provinces and cities that are experiencing rapid development in China. Timely assessment of the structural safety status of water diversion projects and taking necessary preventive measures are the primary conditions to ensure the safe operation of large-scale diversion structures. This paper proposes an integrated visualization framework based on the Building Information Model (BIM) to support the safety management of water diversion projects. The framework integrates data collection, data analysis, warning issuance, and emergency disposal into an integrated platform, which improves the automation level of safety management and the efficiency of emergency response. On this basis, a prototype system is developed and implemented in a water diversion project in Henan Province, China. The prototype of the system can automatically evaluate the structural safety status of water diversion structures, issue corresponding warnings to managers, and provide visual prompts to support decision-making. Many dams have been constructed around the world. Compared with the potential losses of life and economy, the environmental impacts caused by dam breach were less analyzed. As a systematic theory, the set pair analysis method deals with both the certainty and uncertainty of a system or process as a whole. But when dealing with the analysis of environmental impacts with obvious uncertainty, the fuzziness feature of the indices was not considered comprehensively. Hence, this paper introduced the connection degree of set pair analysis in five grades, and the cloud model-based weight calculation method to improve the evaluation. The proposed method was applied to the case study of Qianping Reservoir, Henan Province, China, showing that the comprehensive environmental impacts caused by the potential dam breach were medium. Tree-type borehole drilling (TTBD) is a novel stress relief method for stimulating methane drainage from coal in underground coal mines. This paper is a report on studies that analyzed the permeability enhancement capabilities of tree-type boreholes in coal seams and presents a precedent-setting industrial trial of this new method in a 200-m section of a drainage roadway in a coal mine, the Shoushan coal mine in Henan province, China. Detailed simulation results indicated that after coal seams were stimulated using the TTBD method, a large number of fractures were initiated around the tree-type boreholes. These fractures propagated along the direction of maximum horizontal stress and formed highly permeable flow channels for methane transport from the coal into the tree-type sub-boreholes. The fractures gradually became shorter along the length of the sub-boreholes. As the sub-boreholes were shortened, the area fractured and the number of induced fracture decreased rapidly. Conversely, the fracture density and the value of homogeneity coefficient, β, increased. The industrial trial showed that compared with gas drainage from a conventional borehole in the Ji15−17 coal seams, the gas production rate from a single tree-type borehole was 4.7 times faster and the percentage of methane in the gas produced was 1.7 times higher. In addition, the borehole drainage attenuation time was 2.5 times longer for the tree-type boreholes. The total volume of gas production produced from 238 tree-type boreholes in a 200-m section of roadway was over 70,000 cubic meters, 1.4 times the methane extracted by 938 conventional boreholes in an adjoining 200-m section of the same roadway. In addition, the number of boreholes required to drain 1.4 times as much gas was 75% smaller. These results have provided support for the appreciation and application of this new technique for improving underground coal mine methane drainage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to estimate the net effect of China's entrepreneurship policy on back-home migrant workers since 2015. Using survey data from the provinces of; Zhejiang, Henan, and Guizhou with propensity score matching to control selection bias, the study indicates that the overall entrepreneurship policy has a significant positive impact on the probability of entrepreneurial entry. The poverty alleviation effect of the overall policy is greater than its industrial development effect, while the employment effect is not significant. The infrastructure policy's effect on employment, industrial development, and poverty alleviation is greater than the other policies, and the financial policy's effect on these three aspects is not significant. This study contributes to the existing literature by addressing a well-defined gap regarding the net effect of entrepreneurship policy on entrepreneurship entry and provides well-supported and plausible explanations for the inconsistencies among previous studies on policy effect indicators. As a practical contribution, this study provides China and other developing economies with compelling empirical evidence to support the design and amendment of entrepreneurship policy at the national level. This paper examines the spatial-temporal dynamics of inequality from the perspective of social deprivation in the context of continuous growth of grain production using national census data from 2000 and 2010 for Henan province, China. Our analytical results show an overall level of social deprivation that is high and a widening social deprivation gap at the county level. The social deprivation shows great spatiotemporal heterogeneity, the higher deprived counties are mainly distributed in central and eastern Henan province, while counties with lower social deprivation are clustered in northwestern regions, formed a belt-shape spatial differential between the south (higher deprived counties clustered) and northwest (low deprived counties clustered) Henan in 2000, and changed toward a core-periphery semi annular spatial structure in 2010, the low deprived counties surrounded by high deprived counties. The social deprivation shows a 'west low and east high' spatial pattern, similar to the grain production in Henan province. Socioeconomic development level was low in most counties in Yudong plain despite of keeping the continuous increase of grain production, meaning the higher grain output did not result in the more social development expected in Chinese traditional agricultural areas, and the regional disparity is expected to increase in the near future if development conditions are not changed, which could inspire more targeted rural governance options. Carrying out risk assessments of agricultural drought disasters is helpful to understanding agricultural drought quantitatively and scientifically guiding drought prevention and drought relief work. In this paper, the risk assessment system and evaluation index of drought disasters are constructed, and they are composed of a drought risk subsystem, drought exposure subsystem, disaster damage sensitivity subsystem and drought resistance subsystem. Based on the grey matter-element analysis method, the agricultural drought risk evaluation model was established. Grey matter-element analysis method was used to evaluate the risk of agricultural drought in 18 regions of Henan Province, China in 2019. The results validation showed that high drought disaster risk area in Henan province is located in the western, north and the central area. This study provides a new method for the risk assessment of agricultural drought disasters. Understanding the risk in the study area can improve agricultural system resilience. The abnormity of climate change poses environmental concerns and indirectly promotes the development of low-carbon economic growth pattern. Climate change mitigation technology innovations contribute significantly to achieve environmental goals in China, and thus, technological cooperation has become a strategic choice for the Chinese provinces to achieve technological breakthroughs. Based on 3, 280, 808 patents, this study uses social network analysis (SNA) method and similarity measurement to discuss the evolution process and structural features of the spatial correlation network to analyze the patent data from 1985 to 2020. The process for the research is as follows. First, a form solution of the correlation problem to calculate the minimum Euclidean distance is available in the field of social network. Second, the European distance is used to measure the similarity between provinces, and then, SNA is used to construct the spatial correlation network. Finally, the similarity of growth trend of provincial patent applications in different years from a nonlinear perspective is described, so as to calculate the potential provincial linkage strength. The results demonstrate that low-carbon technology innovation in China takes the form of a network structure. The network exhibits significant characteristics of regional agglomeration, and several central provinces exert the role of mediation and transmission, such as Tianjin, Hubei, and Henan. The study contributes by illustrating the current situation of green technology innovation and provides a critical theoretical foundation for the government when formulating future low-carbon economy development policies. The Xiaolangdi Basin of the Yellow River, located between Mengjin County and Jiyuan City in Henan Province, is composed of a reservoir, a barrage dam, flood discharge buildings, and a water diversion and power generation system, among which, the Xiaolangdi project is the only control project in the lower reaches of the Yellow River that has a large storage capacity. In this study, distributed scatterers InSAR (DS-InSAR) deformation analysis was used to process 27 images of ESA Sentinel-1A data for the period between September 10, 2018, and July 19, 2019. Using the generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) to select the statistical homogeneous pixels (SHP) and the eigenvalue decomposition method to optimize the interference phase, the time series surface deformation of the study area was obtained. The results showed that the maximum deformation rate in the study area was − 40.71 mm/year, the maximum deformation rate of the Xiaolangdi project was − 10.09 mm/year, and the larger deformation rates in the area around the Xiaolangdi Reservoir were mostly within the range − 35 to − 20 mm/year. Furthermore, small baseline subset (SBAS) InSAR and DS-InSAR are used for verification and analysis, and the monitoring results have high consistency. Land application is suggested to be the most economical sludge disposal method but is also a potential source of bisphenol analogs (BPs) to the environment. In this study, BP concentrations in sewage sludge from Henan province ranged from 15.1 to 2237 ng g−1 dw. BPA was dominant with mean concentration of 140 ng g−1 dw, followed by BPS (mean 43.4 ng g−1 dw), BPF (mean 7.98 ng g−1 dw), BPAF (mean 1.04 ng g−1 dw), BPAP (mean 0.88 ng g−1 dw), BPB (mean 0.38 ng g−1 dw), and BPZ (mean 0.33 ng g−1 dw). Apart from BPB, no significant correlations were found between BPs and wastewater treatment plants characteristics, probably because adsorption does not play a major role in the removal of BPs. The estimated total emission flux of BPs from sludge-amended soils are approximately 62.7 kg year−1. BPA is the largest contributor with emission flux of 45.3 kg year−1. Hazard quotient values for BPs in sludge-amended soils are 3–6 orders of magnitude lower than 1 with total 17β-estradiol equivalents ranging from 0.33 to 26.8 pg g−1 E2EQ dw. In order to comprehend the dynamic disaster mechanism induced by overburden rock caving during the advancement of a coal mining face, a physical simulation model is constructed basing on the geological condition of the 21221 mining face at Qianqiu coal mine in Henan Province, China. This study established, a comprehensive monitoring system to investigate the interrelations and evolutionary characteristics among multiple mechanical parameters, including mining-induced stress, displacement, temperature, and acoustic emission events during overburden rock caving. It is suggested that, despite the uniformity of the overburden rock caving interval, the main characteristic of overburden rock lies in its uneven caving strength. The mining-induced stress exhibits a reasonable interrelation with the displacement, temperature, and acoustic emission events of the rock strata. With the advancement of the coal seam, the mining-induced stress undergoes four successive stages: gentle stability, gradual accumulation, high-level mutation, and a return to stability. The variations in other mechanical parameters does not synchronize with the significant changes in mining-induced stress. Before the collapse of overburden rock occurs, rock strata temperature increment decreases and the acoustic emission ringing counts surges with the increase of rock strata displacement and mining-induced stress. Therefore, the collaborative characteristics of mining-induced stress, displacement, temperature, and acoustic emission ringing counts can be identified as the precursor information or overburden rock caving. As the world's most populous country, China's energy poverty reduction achievements directly impact the global energy poverty reduction process. Analyzing energy poverty in China is therefore critical to consolidating the results of poverty eradication, eliminating relative poverty, and improving the social welfare of residents. However, prior research neither considered the applicability of existing energy poverty indicators to the current Chinese reality, nor the spatiotemporal disparities of energy poverty using micro-level data. To study the dynamics of energy poverty in China at the household level, a new multidimensional energy poverty index is constructed with seven dimensions using multiple correspondence analysis methods. Furthermore, provincial disparities and characteristics of energy poverty are compared using a spatial autocorrelation analysis method. The findings show that energy poverty has improved in China from 2012 to 2018, but its incidence and intensity remain high. Moreover, significant regional differences in energy poverty exist between different regions of China. High levels of energy poverty are mainly concentrated in the western and northeastern regions (especially in rural areas), and the urban–rural gap shows a similar pattern. The results obtained from spatial autocorrelation analysis demonstrate that China's energy poverty exhibits significant spatial clustering characteristics. Further, the results of standard deviation ellipse show that during the study period, the center of gravity of energy poverty in China was in Henan province and gradually shifted to the northwest. More than ten thousands of bone fragments were recovered from the Lingjing site, Henan Province during 2005 and 2006. In this paper, through the quantification and statistical analyses of the skeletal elements of the two predominant species in this assemblage, aurochs ( Bos primigenius) and horse ( Equus caballus), the differential influences and weights of a variety of taphonomic agencies in the formation of the assemblage are assessed respectively. Compared to the natural agencies, hominid hunting and the subsequent disarticulation, slaughtering, and their transport of the bone elements of the prey species are the main factors accounting for the formation of the present assemblage. More importantly, this study initiatively identifies hominid's differential treatment of the bones of aurochs and horse in the Paleolithic record of East Asia and demonstrably suggests that hominids at the site have already practiced sophisticated hunting techniques and subsistence strategies and may be quite familiar with the ecological and anatomical characteristics and nutritional values of the large-sized prey animals and can accordingly take different processing and handling strategies at the hunting site. This paper undertook the C and N stable isotopic analysis of human bones unearthed at the Gouwan site in Xichuan, Henan, to reveal the human diets and to explore the lifestyle of humans and the development of rice and millet agriculture. The contribution of rice to human diets was almost equal to that of millet in this site though millet agriculture is the traditional economic model for the middle Yellow River Valley. On the other hand, the comparison of C and N stable isotopes in different cultural periods clearly indicates changes in millet and rice agriculture. Humans mainly depended on agriculture and gathering in the Yangshao Culture I. Millet agriculture, livestock rearing, and fishing were enhanced in the Yangshao Culture II. Millet agriculture and animal husbandry developed steadily in the Yangshao Culture III. After that the mixed rice and millet agriculture developed further. In addition, rice agriculture spread to the north in the climate suitable for cultural exchanges between north and south in the Yangshao Culture phases. In the Qujialing Culture period, under a colder climate, the rice farming was not dominant, though the Qujialing Culture played a key role in the site. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents the results of a detailed study of mortality profiles of the large herbivores from the Middle Palaeolithic (MP) bone assemblage of the Lingjing Xuchang Man Site, Henan Province. Based on the analysis of the crown heights of fossil teeth from this assemblage, we come to a conclusion that aurochs (Bos primigenius) and horse (Equus caballus) are the major prey species in this assemblage and the age structures of these animals can be best described as the "prime-dominated pattern". This study confirmed the well-established notions at many Middle and Upper Palaeolithic sites across Eurasia and Africa that MSA/MP foragers were fully effective in hunting aggressive prey species, particularly aurochs and horse. This find indicates that the hunting behaviors and subsistence strategies were not significantly different between MP and UP (the Upper Palaeolithic) humans in East Asia and hence suggests the early emergence of the modern human behaviors in this area. In recent years, the prevalence of allergic diseases has increased significantly, causing great concern, and wheat, as one of the top 8 food allergens, is a common allergy trigger. Nevertheless, reliable estimates of the positivity rate of wheat allergens in the allergic population in China are still lacking. The systematic review and meta-analysis aims to evaluate the positive detection rate of wheat allergens in the Chinese allergic population and further provide a reference for the prevention of allergy. CNKI, CQVIP, WAN-FANG DATA, Sino Med, PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases were retrieved. Related research and case reports about the positive rate of wheat allergen in the Chinese allergic population published from inception to June 30, 2022, were searched, and meta-analysis was performed using Stata software. The pooled positive rate of wheat allergens and 95% confidence interval were calculated by random effect models, and the publication bias was evaluated using Egger's test. A total of 13 articles were included for the final meta-analysis, in which wheat allergen detection methods involved only serum sIgE testing and SPT assessment. The results showed that the wheat allergen positivity detection rate in Chinese allergic patients was 7.30% (95% CI 5.68–8.92%). Subgroup analysis showed that the positivity rate of wheat allergens was influenced by region, but hardly by age and assessment method. The positive rates of wheat allergy in the population with allergic diseases were 2.74% (95% CI 0.90–4.58%) and 11.47% (95% CI 7.08–15.87%) in southern and northern China, respectively. In particular, the positive rates of wheat allergens were greater than 10% in Shaanxi, Henan and Nei Mongol, all of which belong to the northern region. These results suggest that wheat allergens are an important cause of sensitization in allergic populations from northern China, and therefore attention should be paid to early prevention in high-risk populations. Fluocerite has been shown experimentally and by thermodynamic modeling to be an important phase for the evolution of magmatic-hydrothermal REE mineralizing systems, but one that is rarely observed in nature. The reason for the latter is poorly understood. The newly discovered Taipingzhen REE deposit in Henan province, Central China, is unique for containing abundant fluocerite and thus provides a great opportunity to explore the role of fluocerite in REE mineralization. Fluocerite was the earliest REE mineral to crystallize in this deposit and was replaced extensively by bastnäsite. It has a higher La/Nd ratio than the later-depositing REE minerals, e.g., bastnäsite and monazite. This decrease in the La/Nd ratio with time is interpreted to have resulted from the fluocerite-mediated fractionation of REE (fluocerite prefers the lightest REE during its deposition from a high temperature, sulfate-rich hydrothermal fluid, in which the REE were transported as sulfate complexes). This study provides compelling evidence that fluocerite is, indeed, an important, early crystallizing mineral in magmatic-hydrothermal REE systems, which elsewhere was replaced entirely by bastnäsite during subsequent fluid evolution. Moreover, the study shows that the bastnäsite, which replaced fluocerite, inherited its high La/Nd ratio, suggesting that this ratio could be used as a tool with which to identify the former presence of fluocerite. The preservation of fluocerite in the Taipingzhen deposit is interpreted to have been due to the lack of significant cooling until a late stage of mineralization, at which time most of the fluid was lost from the system. Improving the intensive utilization efficiency of water resources is essential to promote the sustainable utilization and management of water resources in water shortage areas, such as the water-receiving areas of water transfer project. Since the middle line project of South-to-North Diversion (SNWD) officially put into operation in 2014, the status of water resource supply and management in the water-receiving areas in China has changed. This study aimed to analyze the impact of the middle line project of SNWD on the intensive utilization efficiency of water resources, combined with the analysis results in the effects of the middle line project of SNWD under a variety of heterogeneous factors, so as to provide a policy reference for the utilization and management of water resources in water-receiving areas. Specifically, the BCC model based on the input perspective was adopted to calculate the water resource intensive utilization efficiency in 17 cities of Henan Province in China from 2011 to 2020. On this basis, the regional differences in the effects of the middle line project of SNWD on the water resource intensive utilization efficiency were analyzed through the difference-in-differences (DID) method. The results indicated that (1) during the study period, the average value of water resource intensive utilization efficiency in water-receiving areas was higher than that in non-water-receiving areas in Henan province, and the development trends of them showed "U"-shaped characteristics. (2) The middle line project of SNWD significantly has promoted the water resource intensive utilization efficiency in the water-receiving areas in Henan Province. (3) The heterogeneous differences of economic development, opening-up level, government influence, water resource endowment, and water resource policies would lead to regional differences in the effect of the middle line project of SNWD. Therefore, the government should adopt differentiated policies to improve the intensive utilization efficiency of water resources in accordance with the development conditions of the water-receiving areas. As a new class of water contaminants, artificial sweeteners (ASs) have attracted much attention due to their environmental persistence and potential adverse effects to human and the environment. This study systematically investigated the occurrence and distribution of four commonly used ASs in the effluent of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), surface water and groundwater in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River (Henan section). Sucralose (SUC) was dominant in WWTP effluents and had the highest mass loading. Acesulfame (ACE), cyclamate (CYC), saccharin (SAC), and SUC were consistently detected in surface water at concentrations ranging from 1.364 ng/L (CYC) to 7786 ng/L (ACE). Spatial analysis showed that the pollution level of ASs in the trunk stream was lower than that in most tributaries. The total concentrations of ASs detected in surface water ranged between 308.7 and 10,498 ng/L, while in groundwater, the total concentration of ASs detected was between ND–4863 ng/L. ACE and SUC are the main pollutants in surface water and groundwater within this survey area. The risk assessment showed that the risks of the four target ASs to aquatic organisms were negligible (risk quotient (RQ) values < 0.1), and the maximum risk quotient of the mixtures (MRQ) values of all rivers were all much less than 0.1. We developed an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry method for testing 23 elements, namely, Mg, Al, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Mo, Cd, Sn, Sb, Ba, W, Tl, Pb, and U, in human serum. The serum samples were analyzed after diluting 1/25 with 0.5% nitric acid, 0.02% Triton-X-100, and 2% methanol. Sc, In, Y, Tb, and Bi were assigned internal standards to correct the baseline drift and matrix interference. The kinetic energy discrimination mode of the instrument with helium gas as the collision gas eliminated polyatomic interference. All 23 elements exhibited excellent linearity in their testing range, with a coefficient of determination ≥ 0.9996. The limits of detection of the 23 elements were within the range of 0.0004–0.2232 µg/L. The intra- and inter-day precision (relative standard deviation) were < 12.19%. The recoveries of the spiked standard for all elements were 88.98–109.86%. Among the 23 elements of the serum reference materials, the measured results of Mg, Al, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, and Se were within the specified range of the certificate, and the results of the other elements were also satisfactory. The developed method was simple, rapid, and effective, and only 60 μL sample was consumed. A total of 1000 serum samples from healthy individuals were randomly selected from the Henan Rural Cohort, which reflects the status of serum elements in rural adults from the Northern Henan province of central China. As an important drinking water source for North China, the Middle Route of China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project (MRP) must provide high-quality water to maintain the health and safety of more than 60 million people. However, different water transfer operation modes may affect the water quality status, and the spatiotemporal characteristics of water quality in the MRP, with high water transfer volumes, remain poorly understood. In this study, the differences in water quality in the MRP between the initial stage (Nov. 2015 to Oct. 2017, low transfer volumes) and the current stage (Nov. 2017 to Oct. 2020, high transfer volumes) were compared, and the spatiotemporal water quality variations in the current stage were evaluated using multivariate statistical methods. For this purpose, approximately 12,528 observations, including the datasets of 12 water quality parameters collected from 29 monitoring sites, were used. The results showed that the water quality status improved significantly during the current stage. Based on principal component analysis (PCA), physical parameters (natural), nutrients, organic matter and microbes (anthropogenic), and heavy metals (natural and anthropogenic) were the key factors influencing water quality variations. Based on hierarchical cluster analysis, 12 months were classified into two groups: the high-flow period (HFP, Jun.–Oct.) and the low-flow period (LFP, Nov.–May). Additionally, 29 sampling sites were grouped into three sections: the Henan section (HN; S1–S16), Hebei section (HB; S17–S24), and Tianjin-Beijing section (TB; S25–S29). From the perspective of water quality regulation, the total nitrogen concentration and permanganate index in the HB and TB sections of the MRP should be considered throughout the year, and the faecal coliform concentrations in these two sections should also be considered during the HFP. On 20 July 2021, the city of Zhengzhou in Henan Province, China experienced a record-breaking rainfall event ("21·7") with a maximum hourly precipitation of 201.9 mm, which caused a significant loss of life and property. Knowledge of the moisture sources and atmospheric circulations associated with this rainstorm can help understand the mechanisms of such extreme rainfall events for more accurate forecasts in the future. To this end, we investigate the moisture sources and pathways related to the "21·7" extreme rainfall with the water vapor budget analysis and the Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory model. In addition, the role of the circulation pattern is analyzed systematically based on ERA5 reanalysis. Results indicate that the Western Pacific Ocean and East China contribute 68.8% and 29.5% of the moisture to the extreme rainfall over Zhengzhou, respectively. Under the impact of tropical cyclone In-fa and Cempaka, and Western Pacific Subtropical High, the stable and abundant moisture transports toward Zhengzhou. Strong convergence and dynamic uplift trigger the convection due to the low vortex and the topography of mountains. The concentrations of As, Cd, Co, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn in 78 urban soil samples from Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China were determined in the study. The mean values of the eight heavy metals were lower than the natural background reference values of soils from Henan Province, with the exception of Cd and Pb. However, the peak values for six species of the elements exceed the corresponding reference values, indicating enrichment of these metals in urban soils in Zhengzhou City, especially for Cd and Pb. The spatial distribution patterns showed that levels of As, Co, Mn and Ni decreased gently from northwest to southeast without hot-pot area, whereas Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn were with significant spatial variability. PMF model coupled with Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to apportion and quantify possible sources of the eight elements. Four Factors (natural source, industrial production, agricultural activities and traffic discharges) were distinguished and their respective contribution rates were 18.73%, 33.22%, 23.91% and 24.14%, respectively. Results of uncertainty analysis confirmed that the all four source Factors based on the PMF model were reliable. Furthermore, the probability distribution of health risk assessed by means of Monte Carlo simulation revealed that non-carcinogenic risks associated with heavy metals were acceptable for both adults and children, while the total carcinogenic risk values remained relatively high. Additionally, the children were more susceptible to health risks in comparison to adults, and the ingestion way was considered to be the major exposure pathway. Few studies have investigated agricultural carbon emissions peaks, especially from the financial development perspective. This study focuses on the effects of financial scale and efficiency to achieve an agricultural carbon emissions peak in China's Henan Province. Using an extended STIRPAT model and scenario analysis, we find: (1) with the inverted U-shaped influence mechanism of rural financial scale and incorporating rural financial efficiency, agricultural carbon emissions in Henan will peak at 14.17 million tons in 2040, 12.50 million tons in 2034, and 11.73 million tons in 2023 under the baseline low-carbon, moderately accelerated low-carbon, and stringent low-carbon development scenarios; (2) without financial efficiency improvements, carbon emissions will peak five years, three years, and six years later, and the peak value will increase 0.97 million tons, 0.65 million tons, and 0.30 million tons. Therefore, agricultural carbon emissions will peak earlier with continuous and strong financial policy adjustment to facilitate financial development. We also find that agricultural carbon absorption exceeds emissions, achieving carbon neutrality. The policy implication is that financial development matters to sustainable agricultural development. Human settlement and agricultural development are closely linked to local geomorphological and climatic environments. However, the variation in agricultural systems in different environmental and prehistoric contexts remains unknown. We report new archaeobotanical and radiocarbon dates from 34 Neolithic and Bronze Age sites in the Hutuo River Valley (HTRV) in north-central China and compare them with updated archaeobotanical studies in the Sushui River Valley (SSRV) and Henan Province (HNP), to explore the similarities and differences of agricultural patterns under different geomorphologic and climatic environments in north-central China. Our results reveal that humans consistently cultivated foxtail and broomcorn millet in the HTRV from the Miaodigou (6000–5700 cal. a BP) to the Shang-Zhou (3600–2256 cal. a BP) period, despite the introduction of wheat and barley into the area around 4000 a BP. Climate conditions and hilly landforms in the HTRV, SSRV and some parts of the HNP led people to develop foxtail and broomcorn millet dry land farming practices between 7000 and 3000 a BP. Alternatively, in other areas of the HNP, the climate conditions and alluvial plains enabled people to develop a mixed agriculture of millets, soybeans, and rice from 7000 to 4000 a BP, with the addition of wheat between 4000 and 3000 a BP. Farmers' different agricultural technologies and interactions with foreign cultures may have also influenced the formation of different agricultural patterns in the three regions between 7000 and 3000 a BP. Population growth during 7000–3000 a BP can explain the overall propensity of the higher-yield foxtail millet rather than broomcorn millet as the main cultivated crop. In the HTRV, however, higher proportions of broomcorn millet (as compared to the SSRV and HNP), may reflect the greater drought and heat tolerance of broomcorn millet, representing an adaptive agricultural strategy in the river valley. Tobacco exposure is the major risk factor for lung cancer. Previous studies have shown that there is a correlation between tobacco consumption and lung cancer mortality, but they do not show a specific trend. This study established the polynomial distributed lags (PDLs) model to explore the distributional lag effect between tobacco consumption and lung cancer mortality by using the lung cancer mortality rate of residents in Henan Province and the annual per capita tobacco consumption data from 1992 to 2016 and adopted dynamic simulation prediction method to predict lung cancer mortality for the next 20 years. We found that per capita tobacco consumption had a 10-year lag effect on lung cancer mortality. The harm of tobacco consumption did not show in the first 4 years, but after a lag of 4 years or more, the lung cancer mortality in men was higher than that in women, with a peak effect occurring 10 years later. The prediction showed that if per capita tobacco consumption was controlled, lung cancer mortality would show a steady decline trend after 10 years. Objective: Occupational stress is considered a worldwide epidemic experienced by a large proportion of the working population. The identification of characteristics that place people at high risk for occupational stress is the basis of managing and intervening in this condition. In this study, we aimed to identify and validate the risk features for occupational stress among medical workers using a risk model and nomogram. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 1988 eligible participants from Henan Province in China. Occupational stress and worker-occupation fit were measured with the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scales (DASS-21) and Worker-Occupation Fit Inventory (WOFI). The identification of risk features was achieved through constructing multiple logistic regression model, and the risk features were used to develop the risk model and nomogram. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and calibration plots were generated to assess the effectiveness and calibration of the risk model. Results: Among 1988 participants in our study, there were 42.5% (845/1988) medical workers experienced occupational stress. The risk features for occupational stress included poor work-occupation fit (WOF score < 25, expected risk: 77.3%), nurse population (expected risk: 63.1%), male sex (expected risk: 67.2%), work experience duration of 11–19 years (expected risk: 54.5%), experience of a traumatic event (expected risk: 65.3%) and the lack of a regular exercise habit (expected risk: 60.2%). For medical workers who have these risk features, the expected risk probability of occupational stress would be 90.2%. Conclusion: The current data can be used to identify medical workers at risk of developing occupational stress. Land space is the carrier of human production, living activities, and ecological civilization construction. How to promote the orderly, moderate, and sustainable development and utilization of land space is a scientific problem to be solved. As a key element in China's spatial planning, the quantitative analysis of spatial pattern and functional zoning has become a focus of China's current development. Based on the analysis of land space symbiosis development, this study takes Henan province as the case study; appropriate indicators were selected from the perspective of "production-living-ecological" functions (PLEFs) index that was developed including three subsystems of the production function, living function, and ecological function. The entropy weight method and geographic information system (GIS) spatial method were used to analyze the PLEF status and spatial pattern in Henan province. The PLEF score showed a certain geographical pattern, where in the southwestern areas of Henan province have higher PLEFs than that in the northeastern areas. The PLEFs have an obvious positive correlation in the spatial distribution by spatial correlation analysis. In addition, this study designs a three-dimensional magic cube evaluation model to analyze the symbiotic function type of land space. The results indicated that the PLEFs of Henan province were classified into 13 symbiotic function types of areas, which can better reflect the spatial differentiation characteristics. Industrial parks contribute greatly to China's economic development while emitting huge air pollutants. It is necessary to study the characteristics of air pollutant emissions in industrial parks. In this study, emission inventories for 11 industrial parks were established. Meanwhile, the source emission and spatial distribution characteristics of the industrial park were analyzed. The cluster analysis was used to classify these parks into "4Hs", "Mixed" and "4Ls" parks. "4Hs", "Mixed" and "4Ls" represent that the levels of energy intensity, economic proportion of energy-intensive industries, coal proportion and pollution performance value are high, medium and low in turn. Then three emission reduction measures were set up to estimate the emission reduction potential and environmental impacts. The results show that: (1) the emissions of SO2, NOx, CO, PM10, PM2.5, VOCs and NH3 of 11 industrial parks in 2017 were 11.2, 23.1, 30.8, 8.3, 3.5, 5.1, and 1.1 kt, respectively. (2) Power plants were the largest source of SO2 and NOx emissions, and industrial processes were the largest emission source of CO, PM10, PM2.5, VOCs and NH3. (3) "4Hs" parks with traditional energy-intensive industries as the leading industries should be the emphasis of air pollutant emission reduction. (4) Through the optimal emission reduction measures, SO2, NOx, PM10, PM2.5 and VOCs were reduced by 81, 46, 51, 46 and 77%, respectively. Environmental impact reductions include 1.6 kt SO2eq acidified gas emissions, 1.4 kt PO43−eq eutrophication substances, 4.2 kt PM10eq atmospheric particulate emissions, 7.0 kt 1,4-DCEeq human toxic substances, and 5.2 kt PM2.5 eq breathing Inorganic. This study is helpful to understand the characteristics of air pollutants emissions in industrial parks and promotes the proposal and implementation of air pollutant emissions reduction strategies. The sequence stratigraphy and geochronology of the terrestrial dinosaur-bearing strata, i.e., the Qiupa Formation, were poorly studied in the Luanchuan-Tantou Basin in western Henan, China. This study shows that these strata represent a complete succession from the Late Cretaceous to the early Paleogene, including the K/T boundary, in this area. This study evaluated the quality of groundwater and its suitability for drinking and irrigation in the hilly area of the Taihang Mountains in Henan Province, China. Groundwater samples were collected from 43 unconfined and 20 confined wells and analyzed. The pollution index of groundwater (PIG) was estimated based on the physicochemical parameters, and seven indices, including the sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), sodium percentage (%Na), residual sodium carbonate (RSC), permeability index (PI), magnesium ratio (MR), Kelley's ratio (KR), and corrosivity ratio (CR), were calculated to qualify the groundwater within the research area for irrigation activities. Multivariate statistical techniques were performed to better understand the hydrochemical processes. Chemical analysis showed that the dominant cation and anion were Ca2+ and HCO3−, respectively, and the principal hydrochemical facies was Ca–Mg–HCO3. In terms of pH, total dissolved solids, Na+, Cl−, F−, and SO42−, most samples were well within the limits prescribed by Chinese standards for drinking water quality, but more than half of the unconfined samples exceeded the specified limits for total hardness and nitrate. The PIG values suggested the pollution level was insignificant for all confined water samples and 72.09% of unconfined water samples, but the PIG distribution map showed that the water in the south central part of the study area had low to moderate pollution. According to the computed values of SAR, %Na, RSC, PI, KR, and MR and the results of a salinity diagram, the results further indicated that most of the studied samples were appropriate for irrigation usage. Only the CR values rendered 41.86% of the unconfined samples and 20% of the confined samples unfit for irrigation. Hence, proper measures are needed to resolve the corrosivity problem. Factor analysis resulted in the extraction of 3 factors that explained 81% of the data variability, and the extracted factors pointed towards geogenic factors governing the groundwater quality. Earthquakes threaten people's lives and property, especially when cities are affected. Thus, detecting the crustal structure and seismogenic background beneath cities is important if we are to lessen losses. Because the city of Zhumadian in Henan Province, China, is a well-developed area with a large population, more attention should be paid to earthquake detection. We therefore collected data from 15 magnetotelluric (MT) stations along a 55-km survey line across Zhumadian. Then, subsequent to acquisition, processing, and data inversion, we developed a preferred electrical resistivity model. We accurately relocated original earthquakes during the period between 1981 and 2019 within the study area using the double-difference earthquake location algorithm. The relocated earthquakes were projected onto our preferred MT model. The new resistivity model presented here reveals that saturated rocks, including rocks with porosities of 4.31–19.69% and moderate salinities of 10 g/L pore fluid and/or graphite, form conductive features in the upper crust. We also show that aqueous fluids derived from metamorphic dehydration within the lower crust and mantle, not melts, constitute mid-crustal conductors and facilitate detachment structures. The data show that the relocated earthquakes are located adjacent to the boundaries between conductive and resistive areas as well as at the bottom of fault fracture zones. The economy of China is growing rapidly. With this overwhelming growth, the country is experiencing a higher level of carbon emissions. Amid this backdrop, China is under immense pressure to reduce carbon emissions up to a sustainable level. This study adapted 31 provincial panel data from 2007 to 2017 using factor analysis system SBM-undesirable model to calculate the agro-ecological output of each province respectively and used a carbon transfer network impact analysis panel to calculate ecological performance impacts. Results show that (1) overall agro-ecological efficiency in China shows an upward trend but regional differences are evident. The efficiency in the eastern region is higher than that in the central and western regions but the extent of informatization in the central region is higher than that in the western region. (2) Informatization will significantly promote agro-ecological efficiency. (3) Changes in agricultural planting structure, agricultural value-added per capita, employment of human capital in the agricultural sector, and agricultural scale management are also important factors affecting agro-ecological growth. (4) China's amount of carbon transfer is growing year by year, and energy-intensive areas and heavy industry bases are undertaking carbon transfer from the eastern coastal regions; (5) Jiangsu, Henan, and Hebei (Hubei) have the highest centers between 2007 and 2012; (6) inter-provincial carbon transmission is concentrated mainly in the metal smelting and rolling processing industries as well as in the coal, heat, and supply industries.
