Generally, the thickness of thick metallic plates is measured by exploitation of some physical phenomenon outside of eddy currents which are naturally limited for thin plates with respect to the skin effect. Indeed, it is the capacitive or ultrasound sensors which are the commonly used for thick plates. This paper proposes an alternative for thickness evaluation of thick metallic plates using eddy currents. The measurement system consists mainly of two eddy current sensors, an impedance analyzer LCR-meter and a personnel computer equipped with the Labview software. The plate we want to measure its thick thickness is placed between the two sensors. The proposed measurement procedure is based on lift-offs evaluation of a bi-eddy current sensor. The system has been verified and validated with success using several thick aluminum plates. In this paper, a new helical coil electromagnetic launcher is designed, which launches a magnet projectile without using any mechanical launching equipment, but by applying momentary varying current to the helical coil. For measuring the velocity of the magnet projectile in different stages, a LabVIEW-based software and hardware system is developed, and it is also used for improving the performance of the output velocity of the magnet projectile by changing the ignition time of the coils. This paper distinguished the new accelerator coil design and the software, which uses LabVIEW for the first time in this area. With the LabVIEW-based software, optical sensor data are acquired and processed, and ignition triggering control is carried out. Ignition timings on sequential four helical coils are optimized to produce the maximum acceleration in each coil, and thus the maximum velocity of the magnet projectile at output. An NI Data Acquisition 6010 data acquisition card is used for communication and gathering information throughout the entire launching process. In addition, the effects of changing the current magnitude, ignition time, magnet projectile length, and diameter to the output velocity of magnet projectile are investigated and discussed in detail. The goal of this paper is to present an implementation method for a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm using an electronic load and custom designed LabView software. The aim is to facilitate the testing of the algorithm in laboratory conditions, before it can be used in the real world, improving development time, facilitating cost reduction and offering confidence in the design. This paper analyses the most suitable MPPT algorithms for testing purposes and suggests a complete software and hardware implementation for hardware in the loop testing which can facilitate in-depth evaluation of different algorithms. In order to replicate realistic stimuli for the MPPT algorithm, a solar array simulator has been designed. Using the proposed method, the performance of various MPPT algorithms for different atmospheric conditions can be evaluated. The hardware and software setup have been tested and validated in laboratory conditions. Though intermittent, solar energy is a clean and eternal source of energy. PV (Photovoltaic) cell is one of the technology to harness the solar energy and use it as electricity. In recent years rising cost of electricity and environmental concerns have made the solar PV technology a rising research field. In this research field the efficiency improvement is the focal point for the researchers. Because of intermittent weather conditions the output power of the solar cell varies directly to the irradiance level and inversely to the cell temperature and cell never operates at its maximum power. In this paper the characteristics of the sun power A-300 solar cell is simulated in a novel way in LabVIEW using MathScript RT Module along with a MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracker) using variable step sized incremental conductance algorithm that operates the cell at its maximum power without oscillating at maximum power point. Impacts of changing solar insolation and cell temperature on output curves are also discussed graphically and numerically. The results of the simulation verify the data sheet parameters of sun power A-300 solar cell. Graphs of output power of MPPT indicate the accuracy of the variable step sized InC (Incremental Conductance) algorithm for constant and varying solar irradiance with fast tracking and elimination of steady state oscillations about the MPP which is comparatively better than the conventional MPPT algorithms as compared in the results. This Paper describes the simulator development for the Total Ionizing Dose (TID) measurement of radiation monitoring instrument. The TID Detector (UDOS001-micro dosimeter) is a compact hybrid microcircuit which directly measures Total Ionizing Dose absorbed by an internal silicon test mass. The developed detector simulator, simulates the equivalent Total Ionized Dose absorbed from the space radiation and Ground checkout simulator receive the data from Radiation monitoring Instrument through UART and process it for the functional verification of the Radiation monitoring Instrument, which is discussed in the paper. The paper presents a virtual instrument proposed by the authors for voltage dip analysis. The main characteristics of voltage dip are theoretical presented and the corresponding LabView diagrams are explained. In order to test the virtual instrument, a voltage dip is then generated using a mathematical signals generator and the results obtained by the virtual instrument are presented. Measurements were performed in a 220/110 kV substation using classical measurement equipment and the recorded data corresponding to voltage values are used afterward like input files for the virtual instrument. Before implementation into hardware signal processing algorithms are tested in simulation mode. LabVIEW provides highly convenient environment for simulation development and also tools for generation of simulation environment that can include simulation itself and collection of simulation data. Despite the fact that these tools use LabVIEW for code generation, it is not easy to understand the principles of code generation and effectively develop simulation generators. This paper presents toolbox for improved LabVIEW code generation. The developed toolbox is based on standard LabVIEW code generation functions maximally simplifying the application and minimizing the necessary amount of tools for code generation. This paper consists of theoretical part about LabVIEW code generation methods, practical part about principles of LabVIEW code generation using scripting and a graphical presentation of improved LabVIEW code generation advantages. The presented graphical results show that the improved LabVIEW code generation is simpler (thus better) and more understandable for practical realization and the code generator is clearer and more comprehensible than the original one. This paper discusses the design and implementation of laboratories and course projects using LabVIEW in an instrumentation course. The pedagogical challenge is to enhance students' learning of digital communication using LabVIEW. LabVIEW was extensively used in the laboratory sessions, which better prepared students for the course projects. Two course projects were designed to familiarize the students with virtual instrumentation, data acquisition, Modbus communication, and simple closed-loop control. One project involved the instrumentation and control of a brushed dc permanent magnet motor; the other involved the instrumentation and control of a small-scale temperature chamber. Students used one computer, functioning as a Modbus slave, to measure the motor speed or temperature inside the chamber and to turn the motor or lightbulbs on and off. Another computer, functioning as a Modbus master, reads the measurements using Modbus communication protocol via RS-485 wires, compared the measurements to the set points, made control decisions, and sent the commands to the Modbus slave for actuation. This paper presents the design, implementation and characterization of a hardware platform for Fuel Management System (FMS) for fuel carrying vehicles. The primary design goal is to devise a system capable of monitoring the fuel level in real time. This system is proposed for fuel carrying road tankers which carry fuel from oil depots to end users such as petrol-stations. This system is based on hardware as well as software. The hardware part consists of fuel level circuits, on-board Arduino, GSM and GPS modules. While the software part consists of LabView for Database purposes. This system offers an Automatic Electronic System (AES) which replaces manual monitoring of fuel. This system measures fuel volume and sends measured volume to the owner's mobile as well as owner's computer through GSM network. It also provides a technique for detecting theft or fraud incidents in case of fuel theft or fuel leakage. Additionally the system can track the location of each fuel carrying tanker in order to locate the place of any incident that could have occurred. This paper exploits the advantage of non-integer order modeling of a process over integer order, in those cases where the process model is required for control purpose. The present case deals with speed control of a DC motor. Based on the real time open loop response, DC motor is being modeled as integer and non-integer order first order plus delay system. Both these models are then separately used for determining two sets of Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller parameters through Ziegler Nichols (ZN) closed loop tuning method. In addition to this, a model based control technique i.e. Internal Model Control (IMC) is also implemented using both integer and non-integer model respectively. For carrying out the real time speed control of DC motor, LabVIEW platform has been used. After going through the results, it is observed that the controller performance considerably improves, if non-integer order model is used for controller design rather than integer order model. The problem of pumps connected in parallel can be easily solved by means of graphical method, but it becomes very time consuming when dealing with multiple scenarios. An analytical approach offers the possibility of implementing a software program that can significantly reduce this time and also adds further features. The mathematical algorithm used is dealing with a nonlinear equitation system and with polynomial fitting functions. A very special issue that is addressed in this paper is about the errors given by the very small values of flow rates. Since the algorithms assume that every physical measure is expressed in SI units, then the unitless values of flow rates are at least 10-3 magnitude order compared to other values (pump head for example). This in turn leads to very poor fitting polynomials and the end results are far from the truth. The key for solving this particular issue resides in constructing the inverse functions of H(Q). Once the algorithms were sort out, they were implemented in LabVIEW in order to create a software application. This final product offers both accuracy of the calculations and user friendly interface. In this paper, two LabVIEW based hybrid fuzzy filters combining fuzzy logic with simple filtering techniques for image de-noising are presented. LabVIEW is widely adopted for the design of real time systems and their realization in hardware due to the facilities available for performance simulation and measurements under different conditions. The main feature of the filters is that they try to determine the corrupted pixels using fuzzy rules and then treat them by utilizing the classical filters. To measure the performance of the designed filters, several corrupted images with Gaussian noise are processed. An objective criterion such as the Mean Square Error (MSE), and visual observation prove the effectiveness of the hybrid technique compared with the classical filters and several modern filters. This paper deals with the usage of a toolkit Control Design & Simulation in development software LabVIEW for simulation of a two-position controller. This automatic control can be used to regulate regulation processes with high rise time such as temperature processes. Many of these processes can be categorized as second order systems. In this paper, the methodology of the measurement of the angular speed of the crankshaft of a ten-cylinder diesel OM403 engine is presented, with regular and irregular engine operation. The angular velocity was measured under laboratory conditions, on already installed measuring equipment from the laboratory and on the break of a well known brand-Schenck, by using an optoelectronic incremental rotary encoder, a data acquisition module and the LabVIEW software for synchronization and management of the measuring equipment. The popular game called Sudoku helps the puzzle solver to manage complicated logical tasks but on the other hand it is often useful in artificial intelligence applications like steganography, DNA computing or encrypting SMS. The paper presents an automated Sudoku solver system that combines simple solving algorithms with the principles of robot vision domain. The proposed automatic system completely solves the Sudoku problems and the solutions are written rapidly on the paper sheet. The application is based on a Sudoku image capture video system, a system that mimics the human solving strategies. The digits are localized, recognized using the Optical character recognition (OCR) technique and then the problem is digitally transposed and solved through the LabVIEW programming environment. A data acquisition board controls the pen on the plotter to fill the blanks with figures resulted from the solution. The shapes of the digits can be designed by the user in an interactive manner by a friendly interface. With international emphasis on developing new energy sources, their study is advancing gradually. Wind power is one of many renewable green energy sources and its modelling and simulation can provide foundation and theoretical basis for research of other new energy sources linked to the grid. In this paper, a wind power generation model is established on Matlab /Simulink software platform and interfaces are developed on LabVIEW. Energy source coordination control is realized and simulation of a small hybrid energy power generation system based on combined programming of LabVIEW and Simulink using the interface provided by LabVIEW to Simulink. Extensive research has been carried out on the electrostatic charging of the non-woven media for air filters. Nevertheless, the transient regime of corona charging of these media is a topic that still needs to be explored. The primarily aim of this paper is to study this phenomenon in the particular case of the corona discharge generated by a triode-type electrode arrangement. In the first set of measurements, the polypropylene non-woven media was subjected to positive or negative corona discharge generated by such an electrode arrangement, energized from a DC high-voltage source. The measured physical quantities were the electric current Im at the plate surface (with and without the sample in contact with the grounded plate) during the corona discharge process, for a duration of 30 s through a resistor Rm = 10 MΩ connected between the metallic plate and the ground connection. The electrometer was interfaced with a computer to perform data acquisition using a virtual instrument developed in the LabView environment. The current Im stabilize after 5 s and was higher for an electrode without sample in contact with the grounded. The second set of experiments were similar to the first set of measurements except for the fact that the current in different areas of the grounded electrode was measured using a special designed printed circuit board (PCB) plate with seven strip current probes. The electrometer was connected as previously explained, in order to visualize the transient regime of corona current at different probes. The experimental results pointed out that the charging process is affected by the capacitance introduced by the media in the equivalent electric circuit of the triode electrode system. In this paper, a Labview based leakage current monitoring system for High Voltage insulators is described. The system uses a general purpose DAQ system with the addition of different current sensors. The DAQ system consists of a chassis and hot-swappable modules. Through the proper design of current sensors, low cost modules operating with a suitable input range can be employed. Fully customizable software can be developed using Labview, allowing on-demand changes and incorporation of upgrades. Such a system provides a low cost alternative to specially designed equipment with the added advantage of maximum flexibility. Further, it can be modified to satisfy the specifications (technical and economical) set under different scenarios. In fact, the system described in this paper has already been installed in the HV Lab of the TEI of Crete whereas a variation of it is currently in use in TALOS High Voltage Test Station. The object of this paper is to analyze and to suggest improvements on intersection management systems using existing equipment currently available in street intersections. In order to do this, we designed an intersection management system capable of detecting traffic violations as well as vehicle collisions using high-speed cameras. We propose to implement the above mentioned system through design and simulation in the LabVIEW programming environment. LabVIEW offers all the instrumentation necessary to accurately simulate the phenomena that occur in modern-day intersections, making it possible to further develop the existing intersection technology. Electrochemical investigation methods are widely used for characterization of different kinds of materials and live tissue, as well as of the processes in systems where the electrochemical reactions take part. One such system for electrochemical researches based on PC and LabVIEW software package was developed and described in the paper. An overview of standard electrochemical methods, such as potential measurements, chronopotentiometry, chronoamperometry, cyclic voltammetry and EIS, but also of new methods, is given. For signal generation and recording of the response of investigated electrochemical cell, a measurement and control system was developed, based on a PC. The rest of the hardware consists of a commercially available AD-DA converter and an external interface for analog signal processing. This paper describes an artificial neural network (ANN)-based method for the design of a digital power meter, which is able to evaluate the power quantities suggested in IEEE Standard 1459-2010 for a single-phase system. The solution procedure contains two stages. In the first stage, the spectral analysis of voltage and current signals is performed separately with the ANN-based method in a real-time manner. Then, the power quantities and evaluation indices are calculated in the second stage according to the requirements in IEEE Standard 1459-2010. In this paper, a speed control system for a three-phase induction motor was modelled and designed within LabVIEW software environment. After structuring the dynamical model of the motor, a current controller was developed to stabilize the system and avoid a wind-up situation. Then, a speed controller was designed, using PID and Field Weakening techniques, to generate the reference current values. The field-weakening algorithm is used to achieve stability at speeds that are higher than the nominal one. An estimator is used to calculate the flux angle and the electromechanical speed of the motor. As a result, the system achieved the desired speed with good transient and steady state responses. A high computational burden is required in conventional model predictive control, as all of the voltage vectors of a power inverter are used to predict the future behavior of the system. Apart from that, the common mode voltage (CMV) of a three-phase four-leg inverter utilizes up to half of the DC-link voltage due to the use of all of the available voltage vectors. Thus, this paper proposes a near state vector selection-based model predictive control (NSV-MPC) scheme to mitigate the CMV and reduce computational burden. In the proposed technique, only six active voltage vectors are used in the predictive model, and the vectors are selected based on the position of the future reference vector. In every sampling period, the position of the reference current is used to detect the voltage vectors surrounding the reference voltage vector. Besides the six active vectors, one of the zero vectors is also used. The proposed technique is compared with the conventional control scheme in terms of execution time, CMV variation, and load current ripple in both simulation and an experimental setup. The LabVIEW Field programmable gate array rapid prototyping controller is used to validate the proposed control scheme experimentally, and demonstrate that the CMV can be bounded within one-fourth of the DC-link voltage. A ZigBee based wireless sensor network is implemented in this paper which is of low-cost solar-powered air quality monitoring system. The main objective of the proposed architecture is to interfacing various sensors to measure the sensor analog data and displayed in LabVIEW on the monitor using the graphical user interface (GUI). The real time ambient air quality monitoring in smart cities is of greater significance for the health of people. The wireless network sensor nodes are placed at different traffic signals in the smart cities which collect and report real-time data on different gases which are present in the environment such as carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO 2), methane (CH4) and humidity. The proposed system allows smart cities to monitor air quality conditions on a desktop/laptop computer through an application designed using graphical programming based LabVIEW software and provides an alert if the air quality characteristics exceed acceptable levels. The sensor network was successfully tested on the campus of the institute of aeronautical engineering, Hyderabad. The sensor data are indicated by different indicators on the front panel of LabVIEW and also different charts are plotted with respect to time and amplitude which explains the severity of polluted areas. Bode diagram is a term used in many fields of science and engineering that can be described as frequency response analysis. LabVIEW is a multifunctional program for acquiring, processing and analyzing data. In this paper, real time Bode diagram of electronic circuits are obtained in LabVIEW platform without using special VIs(virtual instruments) such as SI Bode Plot VI. In addition to this, the realized study can be easily integrated in to other commonly used platforms such as MATLAB and C to obtain bode diagram results in real time. The paper presents the design of positioning unit acting in a different way with respect to the known methods of controlling the positioning devices. The prototype positioning unit consists of a double-acting cylinder and electromagnetic brake. The proposed hybrid positioning unit allows to free programming of the displacement of the actuator. In the illustrated solution significant disadvantages which often occur in the positioning pneumatic drives were eliminated. The proposed hybrid positioning system provides to maintain the desired position, shorter positioning times, a higher average speed of the piston and a higher positioning accuracy. The fulfilment of such parameters provide a construction of accordingly developed unit which consist of pneumatic drive and control system. Element of control system is the measuring card NI PCI-6221 for data acquisition and control system positioning. This paper presents the FEM technique applied in the study of ice separation over a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) surface. A two layer model of ice and PVC is analysed theoretically using Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and the rule of mixtures. The physical samples are prepared by freezing ice over the PVC surfaces. The samples are tested experimentally in a four-point loading setup. The experimental results contain strain data gathered through a data acquisition system using the LabView® software. The data is collected at the rate of 1 kHz per load step. A model is also coded in MATLAB® and simulated using the finite element method (FEM) in ANSYS® Multiphysics. The FEM model of the ice and PVC sample is built using solid elements. The mesh is tested for sensitively. The Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) can be used for a rather large number of applications. One of the advantages of drones is that they can be autonomous, being able to keep track of the environment that they are in, while carrying out their designated mission. This paper studies the possibilities to implement a self-guided drone with the help of image processing and acquired data from its onboard sensors. Estimating damping in structure composed of different materials (steel, brass, aluminum) and processes still remains as one of the most extremely vast challengers. The paper presents Structural damping effect on beam vibration by impact hammer. Structural damping contributes to about 10-15% of total system damping. The main objective of this work is to estimate the natural frequency and damping ratio of cantilever beams of Aluminum, Brass, and Steel by LabVIEW software and validate the result with vibration analysis and Harmonic analysis utilizing ANSYS. Free vibration analysis was carried out for identifying the natural frequencies and the harmonic analysis was carried out for obtaining frequency replication curves from which damping ratios were estimated utilizing Half- power Band Width Method. This paper proposes a simulation model established according to sedimentation process basis of high rate slurry thickener using modified Kynch flux theory and empirical formulas. A numerical simulation of the model has been developed using LABVIEW software in order to evaluate and predict the performance of sedimentation process in thickeners. Numerical solution of partial differential equations (PDE), which describe the model, is the result of resolving a selected numerical scheme using space-time discretization analysis, where the inputs are design/operation parameters, and ore settling characteristics. This study offers a convenient simulation system platform for both batch and continuous thickening, which can be used as a forecasting tool to identify thickener output operating conditions. In this paper a Backtracking Search Optimization Algorithm (BSA) toolkit has been developed in the LabVIEW™ environment. LabVIEW™ provides a graphical programming environment to design measurement and control applications. The development of BSA toolkit was motivated by the fact that only Differential Evolution (DE) toolkit was provided in LabVIEW™. Thus to design BSA toolkit, several modular virtual instruments have been developed for each BSA process. Developed BSA toolkit has been tested on several benchmark test functions and a comparative study with inbuilt DE toolkit has been performed, which shows results obtained from BSA toolkit are found superior to DE toolkit. This paper focuses on the implementation of the first remote laboratory in the mechanical field being used by the Higher Institute of Industrial Systems of Gabès (ISSIG)-Gabès University, Tunisia. The developed remote laboratory was achieved through the e-Sience Tempus project. The control system for this remote laboratory was implemented using LabVIEW software. The experiment studied a forced vibrations system. The students access the platform via the internet to determine the resonance frequency of damping forced vibration from the amplitude vs. excitation frequency and the phase angle vs. excitation curves. The students also determined the damping ration for the system via the phase angle vs. excitation frequency curve. This paper focuses and presents the online performance, characteristics evaluation and parameters estimations for stand-alone Photovoltaic (PV) panel. The PV panel is subjected to very harsh working surrounding conditions characterized by very high air temperature, very high humidity fluctuations. The local area experience heavy and seasonal dust storms. The area is rarely cloudy and the irradiation level is on the high side in most period of the year. This experimental work is centralized around Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) environment. Three LabVIEW graphical programming blocks are developed to acquire data, to present numerical display and to store environment and electrical parameters. The Fourth block is dedicated to execute graphical online display of environment data. The Fifth module follows and display the electrical variables under clean and dusty condition. The sixth block is designed to acquire the I-V and P-V characteristics simultaneously. The seventh module estimates series and shunt resistance of PV panel under changing condition. The developed environment was fast and accurate in collecting and storing the data. It was very satisfactory to monitor the weather parameters and its impact on the electrical PV performance. The developed system was successful to reach I-V and P-V characteristics accurately. The series and shunt resistance were estimated and found to very close to the simulation results. This paper proposes Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) based adaptive zone settings of distance relays (PAZSD) methodology for protection of multi-terminal transmission lines (MTL). The PAZSD methodology employs current coefficients to adjust the zone settings of the relays during infeed situation. These coefficients are calculated in phasor data concentrator (PDC) at system protection center (SPC) using the current phasors obtained from PMUs. The functioning of the distance relays during infeed condition with and without the proposed methodology has been illustrated through a four-bus model implemented in PSCAD/EMTDC environment. Further, the performance of the proposed methodology has been validated in real-time, on a laboratory prototype of Extra High Voltage multi-terminal transmission lines (EHV MTL). The phasors are estimated in PMUs using NI cRIO-9063 chassis embedded with data acquisition sensors in conjunction with LabVIEW software. The simulation and hardware results prove the efficacy of the proposed methodology in enhancing the performance and reliability of conventional distance protection system in real-time EHV MTLs. This paper deals with the modelling and the identification of an electromechanical Diesel engine actuator. The studied Bosch GPA-S actuator is designed for swirl/tumble flaps to control the air amount entering into the cylinder. This study aims to design a complete simulator that reproduces, with sufficient accuracy, the actuator dynamics taking into account the effects of the friction phenomenon. Hence, an overview of the actuator structure and its operation principle is first given. Then, its mathematical model as well as the nonlinearity, related to its behaviour, is discussed. Next, three identification procedures, which allow estimating both the system parameters and the friction model coefficients, are introduced. This paper centers around the problems that arise from employing multilevel converters to connect renewable energy sources with the traditional power grid. The main element of interest in this application, the total harmonic distortion factor is analyzed, from various points of view: mathematical, LabView simulations and experimental determinations in a laboratory model. Further, we analyze the decision factors behind choosing a certain type of multilevel converter for various applications, highlighting the elements which have to be taken into account when connecting renewable energy sources to the power grid. In this paper, a newly approach of human gait analysis for rehabilitation monitoring is presented. We developed a prototype for the gait analysis system and display the gait pattern by using LabVIEW software tool. The analysis is carried out by using the gait analysis hardware (GAH) that complete with sensory board, ultrasonic and wireless communication system. There are two types of system which are Gait Analysis Software Ultrasonic (GAS-US) and Inertial Measurement Unit (GAS-IMU) have been simulated to get minimum foot clearance (MFC) and orientation measurement. For the complete solution with the feature of error correction, both of GAS-US and GAS-IMU have been combined to perform a gait analysis system. This paper presents virtual instruments to simulate the transient state for some simple and complex circuit. The relative short event between different steady states is the transient state which is followed by energy variation in the circuit. This energy variation produces impulses which propagate through the net and influence other devices. Because there are a lot of equipments operating in switching mode, it is important to study the transient state. To model and study the transient state equations for circuits were written. The article presents the mathematical base of the transient state and types of response of the transient state. The main part is to present the developed virtual instruments for electrical circuits to simulate and to study their transient state. The virtual instruments were developed in LabView. Power compensation is delicate subject in three phase energy systems. There are different power theories in modern literature to calculate active power and non-active powers. This paper will present an application for implementing the instantaneous power theory. It will present the algorithms for calculate the real, imaginary and zero sequence powers, with the average and oscillating components. Starting from these powers, the non-active and active currents are calculated. After that the compensation of different non-active powers will be presented. This paper presents a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and simulator, which is designed for a cable suspended robot (ICaSbot), in LabVIEW environment. This interface is designed to be used for training users in a virtual environment and also controlling the cable robot in an on-line manner. The proposed GUI consists of kinematics, dynamics and on-line control sections. All the mentioned sections are involved in the simulator of the robot employed to display the motion of the end-effector in a virtual environment. Using the proposed GUI, the user is able to exert the desired commands and study the end-effector motion and all of its kinematics and kinetics output in a virtual environment. Afterward, this motion can be applied to the real robot in the part called "hardware control", while six different control methodologies can be selected. The controlling commands, such as driving the motors and monitoring the actual data received from the sensors, can be managed in this part of the GUI. The efficiency and applicability of the designed GUI are proved by conducting some ISO and experimental tests on the cable robot of IUST, called ICaSbot, and comparing the results with simulation, including repeatability and accuracy tests and tracking a predefined trajectory. In this paper, the study and modelling of a lithium-ion battery cell is presented. To test the considered cell, a battery testing system was built using two programmable power units: an electronic load and a power supply. To communicate with them, a software/hardware interface was implemented within the National Instruments (NI) LabVIEW environment. This dedicated laboratory equipment can be used to apply charging/discharging cycles according to user defined load profiles. The battery modelling and the parameters identification procedure are described. The model was used to estimate the State Of Charge (SOC) under dynamic loading conditions. Abstract: This paper proposes a software architecture based on LabVIEW for controlling discrete event systems. The proposed architecture is an adaptation of the producer–consumer design pattern. This work uses the control software of a multifunctional robotic end-effector as a test-bed for analyzing the applicability of the software architecture and its limitations and advantages. This case study demonstrates the effectiveness of the architecture for dealing with the integration of multiple functionalities in the control system. For this case study, the validation of the architecture is performed using two verification techniques: (1) a formal verification using timed automata and the UPPAAL model checker and (2) the CoFI (Conformance and Fault Injection) method for defining the set of test cases to check the software product. The world is running out of the oil and natural resources with each passing day. Most of the electricity around the world is generated using natural resources. E-governments are trying to move the electricity production from natural resources to hydro and solar generation. For the places such as in the Middle East and deserted areas in Sindh district of Pakistan, where water resources are low and solar is superlative for generating electrical energy. The objective of this research is to implement, model, design and simulate the Photovoltaic Solar Monitoring (PVSM) systems. The simulation for the system is implemented on LabVIEW software and tests are carried out for certain values of input. This study presents a three-dimensional near-field measurement system to measure surface waves using LabVIEW. The system is based on the capacitive coupling between metasurface and the electric probe, which is optimised to increase signal-matching efficiency. In order to realise three-dimensional near-field measurements, the scanner is composed of three-axis sliding rods and three stepping motors to drive the near-field probe. Especially, the double position/signal difference method is used to obtain a high spatial resolution. The system is controlled by LabVIEW to realise automatic measurement so that the electric magnitude and phase distribution can be displayed in real time. Finally, a spoof surface plasmon polariton coupling metasurface sample is measured by the system. The measurement results of surface waves are in good agreement with the simulation. This article describes a complete characterization system for photovoltaic devices designed to acquire the current-voltage curve and to process the obtained data. The proposed system can be replicated for educational or research purposes without having wide knowledge about electronic engineering. Using standard calibrated instrumentation, commonly available in any laboratory, the accuracy of measurements is ensured. A capacitive load is used to bias the device due to its versatility and simplicity. The system includes a common part and an interchangeable part that must be designed depending on the electrical characteristics of each PV device. Control software, developed in LabVIEW, controls the equipment, performs automatic campaigns of measurements, and performs additional calculations in real time. These include different procedures to extrapolate the measurements to standard test conditions and methods to obtain the intrinsic parameters of the single diode model. A deep analysis of the uncertainty of measurement is also provided. Finally, the proposed system is validated by comparing the results obtained from some commercial photovoltaic modules to the measurements given by an independently accredited laboratory.
