One of the most widely used measures of scientific impact is the number of citations. However, due to its heavy-tailed distribution, citations are fundamentally difficult to predict but can be improved. This study was aimed at investigating the factors and parts influencing the citation number of a scientific paper in the otology field. Therefore, this work proposes a new solution that utilizes machine learning and natural language processing to process English text and provides a paper citation as the predicted results. Different algorithms are implemented in this solution, such as linear regression, boosted decision tree, decision forest, and neural networks. The application of neural network regression revealed that papers' abstracts have more influence on the citation numbers of otological articles. This new solution has been developed in visual programming using Microsoft Azure machine learning at the back end and Programming Without Coding Technology at the front end. Sustainable concepts for on-demand transportation, such as ridesharing or ridehailing, require advanced technologies and novel dynamic planning and prediction methods. In this paper, we consider the prediction of taxi trip durations, focusing on the problem of the estimated time of arrival (ETA). ETA can be used to compute and compare alternative taxi schedules and to provide information to drivers and passengers. To solve the underlying hard computational problem with high precision, machine learning (ML) models for ETA are the state of the art. However, these models are mostly black box neural networks. Hence, the resulting predictions are difficult to explain to users. To address this problem, the contributions of this paper are threefold. First, we propose a novel stacked two-level ensemble model combining multiple ETA models; we show that the stacked model outperforms state-of-the-art ML models. However, the complex ensemble architecture makes the resulting predictions less transparent. To alleviate this, we investigate explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) methods for explaining the first- and second-level models of the ensemble. Third, we consider and compare different ways of combining first-level and second-level explanations. This novel concept enables us to explain stacked ensembles for regression tasks. In the realm of structural health monitoring (SHM), understanding the expected behavior of a structure is vital for the timely identification of anomalous activities. Existing methods often model only the physical quantities of monitoring data, neglecting the corresponding temporal information. To address this, this paper presents an innovative deep learning framework that synergistically combines a BiLSTM model, fortified by a temporal pattern attention (TPA) mechanism, with time-encoded temperature and traffic-induced deflection-temporal patterns. The arithmetic optimization algorithm (AOA) is employed for optimal hyperparameter tuning, and incremental learning was implemented to enable real-time updates of the model. Based on the proposed framework, an anomaly detection method was subsequently developed. This method is bidirectional: it uses quantile loss to provide expected ranges for structural behavior, identifying isolated anomalies, while the windowed normalized mutual information (WNMI) based on multivariate kernel density estimation (MKDE) helps detect trend variability caused by decreases in structural stiffness. This framework and the anomaly detection method were validated using data from an operational cable-stayed bridge. The security of communication networks can be compromised through both known and novel attack methods. Protection against such attacks may be achieved through the use of an intrusion detection system (IDS), which can be designed by training machine learning models to detect cyberattacks. In this paper, the KOMIG (knapsack optimization and mutual information gain) IDS was developed to detect network intrusions. The KOMIG IDS combined the strengths of optimization and machine learning together to achieve a high intrusion detection performance. Specifically, KOMIG IDS comprises a 2-stage feature selection procedure; the first was accomplished with a knapsack optimization algorithm and the second with a mutual information gain filter. In particular, we developed an optimization model for the selection of the most important features from a network intrusion dataset. Then, a new set of features was synthesized from the selected features and combined with the selected features to form a candidate features set. Next, we applied an information gain filter to the candidate features set to prune out redundant features, leaving only the features that possess the maximum information gain, which were used to train machine learning models. The proposed KOMIG IDS was applied to the UNSW-NB15 dataset, which is a well-known network intrusion evaluation dataset, and the resulting data, after optimization operation, were used to train four machine learning models, namely, logistic regression (LR), random forest (RF), decision tree (DT), and K-nearest neighbors (KNN). Simulation experiments were conducted, and the results revealed that our proposed KNN-based KOMIG IDS outperformed comparative schemes by achieving an accuracy score of 97.14%, a recall score of 99.46%, a precision score of 95.53%, and an F1 score of 97.46%. This paper introduces a novel and comprehensive model for the analysis of dam deformation trends, integrating the variational mode decomposition (VMD) method, fractal theory, and the whale optimization algorithm (WOA) to re6ne the deep extreme learning machine (DELM) model. In the past few years, there has been a notable interest in the application of machine learning methods to enhance energy efficiency in the smart building industry. Sci-Tech journals have long served as platforms for academic communication and the collision of ideas, facilitating advanced inventions and major discoveries in science. The speed of development and future prospects of a field in the current era can often be reflected by the quality and quantity of cutting-edge papers published in Sci-Tech journals within that field. Currently, the impact factor of Sci-Tech journals is a widely recognized journal evaluation index that comprehensively reflects the quality and influence of the journals under evaluation. However, traditional journal evaluation methods based on statistical formulas, while relatively simple and fast, have certain limitations. They are not comprehensive enough and do not support the comparison between journals from different disciplines. In recent times, researchers have delved into using multiple suitable indicators for comprehensive journal evaluation, attempting to understand the role each indicator plays in the evaluation process, such as the rank sum ratio. Our paper presents a new dataset constructed from data from journals across various fields obtained from the China Wanfang Literature Platform. We endeavor to explore a series of novel journal evaluation methods based on machine learning, including deep learning models. With these 9 methods, we aim to determine the contribution of 17 journal evaluation indicators to the impact factor and identify important factors that can further enhance the quality and influence of Sci-Tech journals, which has great guiding significance for the future development of journals. Machine learning (ML) algorithms are increasingly used in power systems applications. One important application is the classification and localization of various types of transmission line faults. Using voltage and current measurements from phasor measurement units (PMUs), a number of useful features can be extracted, which can form the basis of a ML-based prediction of the fault type, line, and distance on the line. This paper proposes a technique to find the optimal number and placement of PMUs by performing thorough feature selection. The features are selected to maximize the accuracy of the ML classification and regression algorithms. The results show that for the IEEE 14 bus system, the use of only five PMUs is sufficient to obtain high levels of accuracy. For example, a testing accuracy of 99.0% and 97.1% can be achieved for the fault type and fault line location, respectively. As for the fault distance along the line, the testing MAE of 3.1% can be obtained along with an R 2 score of 94.4%. Adding more PMUs does not provide any additional value in terms of accuracy. The respiratory disease of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has wreaked havoc on the economy of every nation by infecting and killing millions of people. This deadly disease has taken a toll on the life of the entire human race, and an exact cure for it is still not developed. Thus, the control and cure of this disease mainly depend on restricting its transmission rate through early detection. The detection of coronavirus infection facilitates the isolation and exclusive care of infected patients. This research paper proposes a novel data mining system that combines the ensemble feature selection method and machine learning classifier for the effective identification of COVID-19 infection. Different feature selection approaches including chi-square test, recursive feature elimination (RFE), genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), and random forest are evaluated for their effectiveness in enhancing the classification accuracy of the machine learning classifiers. The classifiers that are considered in this research work are decision tree, naïve Bayes, K -nearest neighbor (KNN), multilayer perceptron (MLP), and support vector machine (SVM). Two COVID-19 datasets were used for testing from which the best features supporting the dataset were extracted by the proposed system. The discussion models the IRI-2012 TEC map over a moderate geomagnetic storm period (5 days) in February 2015 and compares the yield of the models. The models are constructed with the help of cubic Bézier curves and machine learning. In a sense, the comparison of a classical and mechanical approach with a modern and computer-based one is a considerable experience for the paper. The parametric curve approach governs models of piecewise continuous Bézier cubics, while the models employ only the TEC map. The design is separated into curve components at every five-hour curvature point, and each component is handled independently. Instead of the traditional least squares method for finding control points of cubics, it utilizes the mean of every five-hour of the piecewise curves of the TEC data. Accordingly, the prediction error can be controlled at a rate that can compete with the modern network approach. In the network model, 120 hours of the solar wind parameters and the TEC map of the storm are processed. The reliability of the network model is assessed by the (R) correlation coefficient and mean square error. In modeling the TEC map with the classical approach, the mean absolute error is 0.0901% and the correlation coefficient (R) score is 99.9%. Flight delays are a major concern for both travelers and airlines, with significant financial and reputational consequences. Accurately predicting flight delays is crucial for enhancing customer satisfaction and airline revenues. In this paper, we leverage the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to build a framework for accurately predicting flight delays. To achieve this, we collected flight information from September 2017 to April 2023, along with weather data, and performed extensive feature engineering to extract informative features to train our model. We conduct a comparative analysis of various popular machine learning architectures with distinctive characteristics, aiming to determine their efficacy in achieving optimal accuracy on our newly proposed dataset. Based on our evaluation of various architectures, our findings demonstrate that CatBoost outperformed the others by achieving the highest test accuracy and the lowest error rate in the challenging use case of Saudi Arabia. Moreover, to simulate real-world scenarios, our framework evaluates the best-performing model that has been selected for deployment in a web application, which provides users with the ability to accurately forecast flight delays and offers a user-friendly dashboard with valuable insights and analysis capabilities. This paper proposed a single-piston free piston expander-linear generator (SFPE-LG) prototype applied to organic Rankine cycle systems. Two valve timing control strategies, namely, time control strategy (TCS) and position control strategy (PCS), were developed. Based on the experimental data, a back propagation neural network (BPNN) prediction model was established. The effects of structural parameters such as neural network layers, transfer function, training function, hidden layer nodes, and learning rate on the prediction accuracy of this BPNN model were discussed. The training and prediction accuracy of the BPNN model was verified using 5-fold cross-validation and Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Moreover, the BPNN model was integrated with a genetic algorithm to predict and optimize the maximum output power of the SFPE-LG. The results showed that the BPNN model used to predict the motion characteristics and output performance of the SFPE-LG exhibits strong learning ability and high prediction accuracy. Notably, the prediction accuracy of the BPNN model is significantly higher under the PCS compared to TCS. The effect of hidden layer nodes on mean square error (MSE) and correlation coefficient (R) is greater than that of the learning rate. When the number of hidden layer nodes exceeds 30, the BPNN model consistently achieves low MSE and high R. The optimization results showed that the SFPE-LG can obtain a maximum output power of 141.69 W under the TCS, when the working parameters are inlet pressure of 0.7 MPa, intake duration of 35 ms, load resistance of 67 Ω, and expansion duration of 104 ms, respectively. Accurate fault detection in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission lines plays a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring grid reliability. This research aims to develop a cost-effective and high-performance fault detection solution for HVDC systems. The primary objective is to accurately identify and localize faults within the power system. In pursuit of this goal, the paper presents a comparative analysis of current and voltage characteristics between the rectifier and inverter sides of the HVDC transmission system and their associated alternating current (AC) counterparts under various fault conditions. Voltage and current features are extracted and optimized using a metaheuristic approach, specifically Harris Hawk's optimization method. Leveraging machine learning (ML) and artificial neural networks (ANN), this technique demonstrates its effectiveness in generating a fault locator with exceptional accuracy. With a substantial volume of data employed for learning and training, the Harris Hawks optimization method exhibits faster convergence compared to other metaheuristic methods examined in this study. The research findings are applied to simulate diverse fault types and unknown fault locations at multiple system points. Evaluating the fault detection system's effectiveness, quantified through metrics such as specificity, accuracy, F1 score, and sensitivity, yields remarkable results, with percentages of 99.01%, 98.69%, 98.64%, and 98.67%, respectively. Cellular signaling data have become increasingly indispensable in analyzing residents' travel characteristic. Especially with the enhancement of positioning quality in 4G-LTE and 5G wireless communication systems, it is expected that the identification accuracy of fine-grained travel modes will achieve an optimal level. However, due to data privacy issues, the empirical evaluation of the performance of different identification methods is not yet sufficient. This paper builds a travel mode identification model that utilizes the gated recurrent unit (GRU) neural network. With 24 features as input, this method can identify four traffic modes, including walking, bicycle, car, and bus. Moreover, in cooperation with the operator, we organized an experiment collecting cellular signaling data, as well as the corresponding GPS data. Using the collected dataset as ground-truth data, the performance of the method presented in this paper and other popular methods is verified and compared. The results indicate that the GRU-based method has a better performance, with a precision, recall, and F score of 90.5%. Taking F score as an example, the outcome of the GRU-based method is about 6% to 7% higher than methods based on other machine learning algorithms. Considering the identification accuracy and model training time comprehensively, the method suggested in this paper outperforms the other three deep learning-based methods, namely, recurrent neural network (RNN), long short-term memory network (LSTM), and bidirectional long short-term memory network (Bi-LSTM). Visibility observations and accurate forecasts are essential in meteorology, requiring a dense network of observation stations. This paper investigates image processing techniques for object detection and visibility determination using static cameras. It proposes a comprehensive method that includes image preprocessing, landmark identification, and visibility estimation, mirroring the observation process of professional meteorological observers. This study validates the visibility observation procedure using the k-nearest neighbors machine learning method across six locations, including four in the Czech Republic, one in the USA, and one in Germany. By comparing our results with professional observations, the paper demonstrates the suitability of the proposed method for operational application, particularly in foggy and low visibility conditions. Analyzing monitoring data to recognize structural anomalies is a typical intelligent application of structural safety monitoring, which is of great significance to hydraulic engineering operational management. Many regression modeling methods have been developed to describe the complex statistical relationships between engineering safety monitoring points, which in turn can be used to recognize abnormal data. However, existing studies are devoted to introducing the correlation between adjacent response points to improve prediction accuracy, ignoring the detrimental effects on anomaly recognition, especially the pseudo-regression problem. In this paper, an anomaly recognition method is proposed from the perspective of causal inference to realize the best exploitation of various types of monitoring information in model construction, including four steps of constructing causal graph, regression modeling, model interpretation, and anomaly recognition. In regression modeling stage, two deconfounding machine learning models, two-stage boosted regression trees and copula debiased boosted regression trees, are proposed for recovering the causal effects of correlated response points. The validation was carried out with Shanmen River culvert monitoring data, and experiment results showed that the proposed method in this paper has better anomaly recognition compared to existing regression modeling methods, as shown by lower false alarm rates and lower averaged missing alarm rates under different structural anomaly scenarios. Mechanical properties are important indicators for evaluating the quality of strips. This paper proposes a mechanical performance prediction model based on the Gray Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm and the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) algorithm. In the modeling process, GWO is used to determine the optimal weights and deviations of ELM and experiments are used to determine the model's key parameters. The model effectively avoids manual intervention and significantly improves aluminum alloy strips' mechanical property prediction accuracy. This paper uses processed data from the aluminum alloy production plant of Shandong Nanshan Aluminum Co., Ltd. as experimental data. When the prediction deviation is controlled within ±10%, the GWO-ELM model can achieve a correct rate of 100% for tensile strength, 97.5% for yield strength, and 77.5% for elongation on the test set. The RMSE of the tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation of the GWO-ELM model was 5.365, 11.881, and 1.268, respectively. The experimental results show that the GWO-ELM model has higher accuracy and stability in predicting aluminum alloy strips' tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation. As an important part of the bridge structure system, the underwater pile-pier structure usually occurs various defects on its surfaces due to its complex hydrological environment. The existing conventional defect detection approaches exist two aspects of problems: (1) insufficient definition and color distortion of the underwater images, and (2) low efficiency and error-prone. To solve these problems, this paper proposed the target defect detection model by integrating the image-fusion enhancement algorithm and the deep learning algorithm. Firstly, by analyzing the reasons for the degradation of the underwater images, the ACE (automatic color equalization) and CLAHE (contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization) algorithms are selected to enhance the image, respectively. Secondly, the two enhanced images are fused based on the point sharpness weight, and then the fusion results are further sharpened by the USM (unsharp mask) algorithm, thus obtaining the final fused images. Thirdly, 3,200 fused images are taken as the training set, by adopting the YOLOv3 algorithm to train the detection model, and then the training model is validated and tested by the other each 400 fused images, thus building up the target automatic detection model of underwater pile-pier surface defects. Finally, a series of comparison and discussion were conducted to validate the effectiveness of image-fusion and the robustness and effectiveness of the target detection model. The results found that the target detection model has excellent robustness against noise and effectiveness in the surface defect detection. This indicates that the image-fusion approach proposed in this paper can effectively enhance the image features, and the target detection model is feasible, robust, and effective in the automatic detection of surface defects on underwater pile-pier structures. With the development of smart classrooms, analyzing students' emotions for classroom learning is an effective means of accurately capturing their learning process. Although facial expression-based emotion analysis methods are effective in analyzing classroom learning emotions, current research focuses on facial expressions and does not consider the fact that expressions in different postures do not represent the same emotions. To provide a continuous and deeper understanding of students' learning emotions, this study proposes an algorithm to characterize learning emotions based on classroom time-series image data. First, face expression data for classroom scenarios are established to address the lack of expression databases in real teaching environments. Second, to improve the accuracy of facial expression recognition, a residual channel cross transformer masking net expression recognition model is proposed in this paper. Finally, to address the problem that the existing research dimension of learning emotion is too single, this paper uses the facial expression and head posture data obtained from deep learning models for fusion analysis and innovatively proposes a Dempster–Shafer evidence-theoretic fusion model to characterize the learning emotion within the lecture duration of knowledge points. The experiments show that both the proposed expression recognition model and the learning sentiment analysis algorithm have good performance, with the expression recognition model achieving an accuracy of 73.58% on the FER2013 dataset. Artificial intelligence (AI) scholars and mediciners have reported AI systems that accurately detect medical imaging and COVID-19 in chest images. However, the robustness of these models remains unclear for the segmentation of images with nonuniform density distribution or the multiphase target. The most representative one is the Chan-Vese (CV) image segmentation model. In this paper, we demonstrate that the recent level set (LV) model has excellent performance on the detection of target characteristics from medical imaging relying on the filtering variational method based on the global medical pathology facture. We observe that the capability of the filtering variational method to obtain image feature quality is better than other LV models. This research reveals a far-reaching problem in medical-imaging AI knowledge detection. In addition, from the analysis of experimental results, the algorithm proposed in this paper has a good effect on detecting the lung region feature information of COVID-19 images and also proves that the algorithm has good adaptability in processing different images. Leishmania, a single-cell parasite prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, can cause varying degrees of leishmaniasis, ranging from self-limiting skin lesions to potentially fatal visceral complications. As such, the parasite has been the subject of much interest in the scientific community. In recent years, advances in diagnostic techniques such as flow cytometry, molecular biology, proteomics, and nanodiagnosis have contributed to progress in the diagnosis of this deadly disease. Additionally, the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI), including its subbranches such as machine learning and deep learning, has revolutionized the field of medicine. The high accuracy of AI and its potential to reduce human and laboratory errors make it an especially promising tool in diagnosis and treatment. Despite the promising potential of deep learning in the medical field, there has been no review study on the applications of this technology in the context of leishmaniasis. To address this gap, we provide a scoping review of deep learning methods in the diagnosis of the disease, drug discovery, and vaccine development. In conducting a thorough search of available literature, we analyzed articles in detail that used deep learning methods for various aspects of the disease, including diagnosis, drug discovery, vaccine development, and related proteins. Each study was individually analyzed, and the methodology and results were presented. With the emergence and vigorous development of 5G technology, there is a significant surge in network usage and traffic, resulting in heightened complexity within network and IT environments. This exponential increase in activity produces a plethora of events, making conventional systems inadequate for the efficient management of 5G networks. In comparison to 4G technology, 5G technology brings forth a host of new features, one of which is the network data analytics function (NWDAF). This function grants network operators the flexibility to either employ their own data analytics methodologies based on machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) into their networks. In this paper, we present a dataset named "NWDAF-NFPP" for network function performance time series prediction, collected from a laboratory at China Telecom. The dataset is carefully anonymized to ensure maximum realism and comprehensiveness, while safeguarding sensitive information. It encompasses eight categories of network functions, with data collected at five-minute intervals. The availability of this dataset provides valuable resources for researchers to conduct time series prediction research on network element performance. Following data collection, a total of six models were employed for network element performance prediction, encompassing both machine learning and deep learning approaches. The problem of intrusion detection has new solutions, thanks to the widespread use of machine learning in the field of network security, but it still has a few issues at this time. Traditional machine learning techniques to intrusion detection rely on expert experience to choose features, and deep learning approaches have a low detection efficiency. In this paper, an intrusion detection model based on feature selection and improved one-dimensional convolutional neural network was proposed. This model first used the extreme gradient boosting decision tree (XGboost) algorithm to sort the preprocessed data, and then it used comparison to weed out 55 features with a higher contribution. Then, the extracted features were fed into the improved one-dimensional convolutional neural network (I1DCNN), and this network training was used to complete the final classification task. The feature selection and improved one-dimensional convolutional neural network (FS-I1DCNN) intrusion detection model not only solved the traditional machine learning method of relying on expert experience to extract features but also improved the detection efficiency of the model, reduced the training time while reducing the dimension, and increased the overall accuracy. In comparison to the I1DCNN model without feature extraction and the conventional one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1DCNN) model, the experimental results demonstrate that the FS-I1DCNN model's overall accuracy increases by 0.67% and 2.94%, respectively. This study is centered around the COVID-19 pandemic which has posed a global health concern for over three years. It emphasizes the importance of effectively utilizing epidemic simulation models for informed decision-making concerning epidemic control. The challenge lies in appropriately choosing, adapting, and interpreting these models. The research constructs three statistical machine learning models to predict the spread of COVID-19 in specific regions and evaluates their performance using real COVID-19 incidence data. The paper presents short-term (3, 7, 14, 21, and 30 days) forecasts of COVID-19 morbidity and mortality for Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Ukraine. The precision of each model was scrutinized based on the type of input data used. Recommendations are provided on how various data sources can enhance the interpretation quality of machine learning models predicting infectious disease dynamics. Affected by the movement of drones, missiles, and other aircraft platforms and the limitation of the accuracy of image sensors, the obtained images have low-resolution and serious loss of image details. Aiming at these problems, this paper studies the image super-resolution reconstruction technology. Firstly, a natural image degradation model based on a generative adversarial network is designed to learn the degradation relationship between image blocks within the image; then, an unsupervised learning residual network is designed based on the idea of image self-similarity to complete image super-resolution reconstruction. The experimental results show that the unsupervised super-resolution reconstruction algorithm is equivalent to the mainstream supervised learning algorithm under ideal conditions. Condition rating of bridges is specified in many countries since it provides a basis for the decision-making of maintenance actions such as repair, strengthening, or limitation of passing vehicle weight. In practice, professional engineers check the textual description of damages to bridge members, such as girders, bearings, expansion joints, and piers that are acquired from periodic inspections, and then make a rating of the bridge condition. The task is time-consuming and labor-intensive due to the large amount of detailed data buried in the inspection reports. In this paper, a natural language processing- (NLP-) based machine learning (ML) approach is proposed for automated and fast bridge condition rating, which can efficiently extract the information of deficiencies in bridge members. The proposed approach involves three major steps, say, data repository establishment, NLP-based textual data processing, and ML-based bridge condition rating prediction. The data repository is established with the inspection reports of 263 concrete bridges, and in total there, are four condition levels for the bridges. Then, the NLP-based textual data processing approach is implemented to calculate the word frequency and the word clouds to visualize the characteristics of bridges in different condition levels. Finally, four typical ML techniques are adopted to generate the predictive model of the bridge condition rating. The results indicate that the NLP-based ML prediction model has an accuracy of 89% and is very efficient so that it can be used for large-scale applications such as condition rating for regional-level bridges. In the operation process, practical tools are needed to identify and opportunely respond to the threat in the supply chain operation promptly, predict the probability of business failure of enterprises, and take scientific and feasible measures to prevent a financial crisis in good season. Artificial intelligence decision-making technology can help traditional supply chains to transform into intelligent supply chains, realize smart management, and promote supply chain transformation and upgrading. Firstly, relevant financial index data are collected, and the quality of the selected data is raised through preprocessing; secondly, the chaotic grasshopper optimization algorithm (CGOA) is used to simulate the behavior of grasshoppers in nature to build a mathematical model, and the selected data sets are selected and optimized for features. Then, the support vector machine (SVM) performs classification processing on the quantitative data with reduced features. Empirical risk is calculated using the hinge loss function, and a regular operation is added to optimize the risk structure. Finally, slime mould algorithm (SMA) can optimize the process to improve the efficiency of SVM, making the algorithm more accurate and effective. In this study, Python is used to simulate the function of the corporate business finance risk prevention model. The precise estimation of the state of health (SOH) for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) is one of the core problems for battery management systems. To address the problem that it is difficult to accurately evaluate SOH because of the LIB capacity regeneration phenomenon, this paper proposes an approach for LIB SOH estimation using isobaric energy analysis and improved long short-term memory neural network (LSTM NN). Specifically, at first, the isobaric energy curve is plotted by analyzing the battery energy variation during the constant current charging stage. Then, the mean peak value of the isobaric energy curve is extracted as a health factor to characterize the battery SOH aging. Eventually, the LIB SOH estimation model is developed using the improved LSTM NN. In this regard, the improved LSTM NN refers to the selection of the number of hidden layers and the learning rate of the LSTM NN using the particle swarm algorithm (PSO). To verify the precision of the proposed method, validation experiments are performed based on four battery aging data with different charging multipliers. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method can effectively estimate the LIB SOH. For the mixed traffic flow, obtaining the distribution of connected vehicles (CVs) and regular vehicles (RVs) is of great significance for road network analysis and cooperative control in intelligent transportation systems (ITSs). However, whether it is based on fixed sensors or based on CVs and traffic mechanism to estimate the spatial distribution of RVs, the implementation complexity and low estimation accuracy are the points that need to be improved. This paper proposes a regular vehicle spatial distribution estimation method using adjacent connected vehicles as mobile sensors. First, to investigate the hidden relationship between the interaction information of adjacent CVs and the spatial distribution of RVs among CVs, the Gaussian mixture model-hidden Markov model (GMM-HMM) is selected as the identification method. Then, three sets of experiments were designed to study the influence of observed features on the identification capability of the model, generalization capability validation, and comparison with other methods, respectively. Finally, the proposed method is verified by the dataset generated by the car-following model. The experimental results show that selecting the relative position and time headway as observed features can effectively reflect the regular vehicle spatial distribution between adjacent CVs. The average accuracy of the proposed method to identify the regular vehicle spatial distribution is over 93.7%, which can provide valuable suggestions for the Internet of Vehicles application. An index for reporting air quality is called the air quality index (AQI). It measures the impact of air pollution on a person's health over a short period of time. The purpose of the AQI is to educate the public on the negative health effects of local air pollution. The amount of air pollution in Indian cities has significantly increased. There are several ways to create a mathematical formula to determine the air quality index. Numerous studies have found a link between air pollution exposure and adverse health impacts in the population. Data mining techniques are one of the most interesting approaches to forecast AQI and analyze it. The aim of this paper is to find the most effective way for AQI prediction to assist in climate control. The most effective method can be improved upon to find the most optimal solution. Hence, the work in this paper involves intensive research and the addition of novel techniques such as SMOTE to make sure that the best possible solution to the air quality problem is obtained. Another important goal is to demonstrate and display the exact metrics involved in our work in such a way that it is educational and insightful and hence provides proper comparisons and assists future researchers. In the proposed work, three distinct methods—support vector regression (SVR), random forest regression (RFR), and CatBoost regression (CR)—have been utilized to determine the AQI of New Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. After comparing the results of imbalanced datasets, it was found that random forest regression provides the lowest root mean square error (RMSE) values in Bangalore (0.5674), Kolkata (0.1403), and Hyderabad (0.3826), as well as higher accuracy compared to SVR and CatBoost regression for Kolkata (90.9700%) and Hyderabad (78.3672%), while CatBoost regression provides the lowest RMSE value in New Delhi (0.2792) and the highest accuracy is obtained for New Delhi (79.8622%) and Bangalore (68.6860%). Regarding the dataset that was subjected to the synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) algorithm, it is noted that random forest regression provides the lowest RMSE values in Kolkata (0.0988) and Hyderabad (0.0628) and higher accuracies are obtained for Kolkata (93.7438%) and Hyderabad (97.6080%) in comparison to SVR and CatBoost regression, whereas CatBoost regression provides the highest accuracies for New Delhi (85.0847%) and Bangalore (90.3071%). This demonstrated definitely that datasets that had the SMOTE algorithm applied to them produced a higher accuracy. The novelty of this paper lies in the fact that the best regression models have been picked through thorough research by analyzing their accuracies. Breast cancer is the most common and deadly type of cancer in the world. Based on machine learning algorithms such as XGBoost, random forest, logistic regression, and K-nearest neighbor, this paper establishes different models to classify and predict breast cancer, so as to provide a reference for the early diagnosis of breast cancer. Recall indicates the probability of detecting malignant cancer cells in medical diagnosis, which is of great significance for the classification of breast cancer, so this article takes recall as the primary evaluation index and considers the precision, accuracy, and F1-score evaluation indicators to evaluate and compare the prediction effect of each model. In order to eliminate the influence of different dimensional concepts on the effect of the model, the data are standardized. In order to find the optimal subset and improve the accuracy of the model, 15 features were screened out as input to the model through the Pearson correlation test. The K-nearest neighbor model uses the cross-validation method to select the optimal k value by using recall as an evaluation index. For the problem of positive and negative sample imbalance, the hierarchical sampling method is used to extract the training set and test set proportionally according to different categories. The experimental results show that under different dataset division (8 : 2 and 7 : 3), the prediction effect of the same model will have different changes. Comparative analysis shows that the XGBoost model established in this paper (which divides the training set and test set by 8 : 2) has better effects, and its recall, precision, accuracy, and F1-score are 1.00, 0.960, 0.974, and 0.980, respectively. Engineers strive to realize the goal of control in the best possible way based on a given quality criterion when developing control system. The well-known optimal control problem requires finding a solution as a function of time. Such a function cannot be directly used to control a real object because its application corresponds to an open-loop control system and engineers usually complete it with a feedback stabilization system. Hence, there is an obvious need to reformulate the optimal control problem so that its solution can be directly applied to real objects. The paper presents a new extended statement of the optimal control problem. An additional requirement for the control function is introduced to give the system describing the control object properties that will ensure the stability of solutions. The desired control function must provide for the optimal trajectory given the properties of the attractor in the neighbourhood. The solution to the extended optimal control problem can be directly used to control a real object. The paper presents a computational machine learning approach to solving the extended problem of optimal control based on the application of a synthesized optimal control technique. Probability theory is a discipline used to express uncertainty. It provides methods and axioms to quantify and deduce uncertainty, which allows us to reason when uncertainty exists. This paper mainly studies the prediction process of mining subsidence based on machine learning probability theory. In this paper, the mining subsidence problem is studied. The main research contents are as follows: through the research and analysis of the mining subsidence prediction method, the probability integral method is determined as the theoretical basis for the study. The mining parameters are obtained from the three-dimensional geological body model of the mining area, and the prediction parameters are calculated by the least square fitting. This paper makes a detailed plan for the overall design of mining subsidence prediction module, adopts the form of independent research and development and joint development with the existing software, designs five submodules according to the design objectives, principles, and functional needs of the module, and studies the application of mining subsidence prediction module. In this study, it is found that the predicted data of the maximum settlement value appear at the 23rd point, and the maximum value is 1567 mm, which is completely consistent with the change trend of the measured value. The settlement value is calculated from the edge position of the working face to the position where the chariot gradually increases, which conforms to the change law of surface movement and settlement. Efforts are being made to develop robust prognostic maintenance systems that can identify the faults before they occur. In the face of the batch, dynamic access data, or the flow of data that continuous changes over time, the traditional support vector machine algorithm cannot dynamically adjust the previous classification model. To overcome this shortcoming, the incremental support vector machine (ISVM) algorithm is proposed. However, many incremental support vector algorithms still have shortcomings such as low efficiency, memory limitation, and poor generalization. This paper puts forward the new ISVM algorithm, HDFC-ISVM ∗ algorithm, based on the high-dimensional distance and forgetting characteristics. This paper firstly proposes the original HDFC-ISVM algorithm that first learns the distribution characteristics of the samples according to the distance between the samples and the normative hyperplane. Then, it introduces the forgetting factor. In the incremental learning process, the classifier gradually accumulates the spatial distribution knowledge of samples, eliminates the samples that have no contributions to the classifier, and selectively forgets some useless samples according to the forgetting factor, which overcomes the shortcomings such as low efficiency and poor accuracy of some algorithms. But, the original HDFC-ISVM algorithm is sensitive to parameters, and different settings of the parameters have a great impact on the final classification accuracy of the algorithm. Therefore, on the basis of the original algorithm, an improved algorithm HDFC-ISVM ∗ based on the adjustments to the initialization strategy and updating rules of the forgetting factor is proposed. The initialization strategy and updating rules of the forgetting factor are adjusted to adapt datasets with different distributions in this improved algorithm. The rationality of the improved strategy about the forgetting factor is discussed theoretically. In digital media art, expressive force is an important art form of media. This paper studies digital images that have the same effect when applied to media art. The research object is media art images, and the application effect of the proposed algorithm is related to the media art images. The development of digital image technology has brought revolutionary changes to traditional media art expression techniques. In this paper, a partial-pixel interpolation technique based on convolutional neural network is proposed. Supervised training of convolutional neural networks requires predetermining the input and target output of the network, namely, integer image and fractional image in this paper. To solve the problem that the subpixel sample cannot be obtained, this paper first analyzes the imaging principle of digital image and proposes a subpixel sample generation algorithm based on Gaussian low-pass filter and polyphase sampling. From the perspective of rate distortion optimization, the purpose of pixel motion compensation is to improve the accuracy of interframe prediction. Therefore, this paper defines pixel motion compensation as an interframe regression problem, that is, the mapping process of the reference image integral pixel sample to the current image sample to be encoded. In this paper, a generalized partial-pixel interpolation model is proposed for bidirectional prediction. The partial-pixel interpolation of bidirectional prediction is regarded as a binary regression model; that is, the integral pixel reference block in two directions is mapped to the current block to be coded. Nowadays, the verification of handwritten signatures has become an effective research field in computer vision as well as machine learning. Signature verification is naturally formulated as a machine-learning task. This task is performed by determining if the signature is genuine or forged. Therefore, it is considered a two‐class classification issue. Since handwritten signatures are widely used in legal documents and financial transactions, it is important for researchers to select an efficient machine-learning technique for verifying these signatures and to avoid forgeries that may cause many losses to customers. So far, great outcomes have been obtained when using machine learning techniques in terms of equal error rates and calculations. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the latest studies and results in the last 10 years in the field of online and offline handwritten signature verification. More than 20 research papers were used to make a comparison between datasets, feature extraction, and classification techniques used in each system, taking into consideration the problems that occur in each. In addition, the general limitations and advantages of machine-learning techniques that are used to classify or extract signature features were summarized in the form of a table. The purpose of this paper is to solve the problem of big data and small samples caused by the high manual annotation cost of a military corpus. The deep learning algorithm of entity extraction in the military field was organically combined with the method of bootstrapping loop iteration to complete a study on the application of intelligent corpus annotation of military field entities. With the experimental research showing that using a small number of military field entity corpus annotations for RoBERTa pretraining word vectors and BiLSTM-CRF models and based on the bootstrapping algorithm idea to complete 3 rounds of loop iterations and 10 rounds of cross-validation joint-voting model iterations, the best entity extraction model evaluation F value reached up to 91.5%. Finally, the 60M intelligent corpus annotation application testing was completed using the best model of iteration of this round, with a total of 178,177 sentences of military field corpus intelligently labeled, the number of entities that should be labeled reaching 417,734. Therefore, this is an efficient way of construction and evaluation of intelligent corpus annotation model in the military entity extraction field. Aims. This paper aims to investigate the relationship of waist circumference (WC) with digestive tract cancer morbidity and mortality. Methods. Based on the data from a nationally representative US population survey, we summarized the prevalence of digestive tract cancer and all-cause mortality of cancer patients across WC quartiles. Adjusted logistic regression and restricted spline curve were used to analyze WC and the prevalence of digestive tract cancer. Moreover, Cox regression and the Kaplan-Meier curve were applied to investigate the association of WC with all-cause mortality. We also attempted to make a model to predict cancer happening. Results. This paper included a total of 34,041 participants, with digestive tract cancer observed in 265 (0.7%) individuals. WC was positively associated with digestive tract cancer morbidity after full adjustment of covariates (OR: 1.72 and 95% CI: 1.41-2.10). Also, individuals in the highest WC group had a higher risk of digestive tract cancer (Q4, OR: 2.71 and 95% CI: 1.48-5.00). Moreover, no significant association was observed in upper digestive cancer, and WC was associated with a longer survival time once diagnosed (hazard ratio (HR): 0.50 and 95% CI: 0.28-0.92). Finally, the model we made proved to be effective. Conclusion. High WC is a risk factor for digestive tract cancer with or without adjusting for body mass index, especially those located in the lower digestive tract. However, once digestive tract cancer has been diagnosed, patients with higher WC showed better survival outcomes. With the improvement of computer performance and machine learning levels, intelligent algorithms have been able to replace human behavior and judgment in some fields. The traditional breast cancer diagnosis process requires medical experts to observe patient data repeatedly. In this case, the algorithm technology is used to quickly feedback a high probability reference result to doctors, which is particularly important to increase the diagnosis efficiency and reduce the burden of doctors. In order to improve the accuracy of existing breast cancer recognition methods, this paper proposes and implements a scheme based on a whale optimization algorithm to iteratively adjust the key parameters of the support vector machine to improve the accuracy of breast cancer recognition. In order to verify the performance of the WOA-SVM algorithm, this paper uses the Wisconsin breast cancer data in the UCI database for performance verification experiments. In the water transportation, ship speed estimation has become a key subject of intelligent shipping research. Traditionally, Automatic Identification System (AIS) is used to extract the ship speed information. However, transportation environment is gradually becoming complex, especially in the busy water, leading to the loss of some AIS data and resulting in a variety of maritime accidents. To make up for this deficiency, this paper proposes a vessel speed extraction framework, based on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) airborne video. Firstly, YOLO v4 is employed to detect the ship targets in UAV image precisely. Secondly, a simple online and real time tracking method with a Deep association metric (Deep SORT) is applied to track ship targets with high quality. Finally, the ship motion pixel is computed based on the bounding box information of the ship trajectories, at the same time, the ship speed is estimated according to the mapping relationship between image space and the real space. Exhaustive experiments are conducted on the various scenarios. Results verify that the proposed framework has an excellent performance with average speed measurement accuracy is above 93% in complex waters. Contextual representation recommendation directly uses contextual prefiltering technology when processing user contextual data, which is not the integration of context and model in the true sense. To this end, this paper proposes a context-aware recommendation model based on probability matrix factorization. We design a music genre style recognition and generation network. In this network, all the sub-networks of music genres share the explanation layer, which can greatly reduce the learning of model parameters and improve the learning efficiency. Each music genre sub-network analyzes music of different genres, realizing the effect of multitasking simultaneous processing. In this paper, a music style recognition method using a combination of independent recurrent neural network and scattering transform is proposed. The relevant characteristics of traditional audio processing methods are analyzed, and their suitable application scenarios and inapplicability in this task scenario are expounded. Starting from the principle of scattering transform, the superiority and rationality of using scattering transform in this task are explained. This paper proposes a music style recognition method combining two strategies of scattering transform and independent recurrent neural network. In the case that the incremental data set is all labeled, this paper introduces the solution of the convex hull vector, which reduces the training time of the initial sample. According to the error push strategy, an incremental learning algorithm based on convex hull vector and error push strategy is proposed, which can effectively filter historical useful information and at the same time eliminate useless information in new samples. Experiments show that this method improves the accuracy of music style recognition to a certain extent. We combine machine learning with Internet of Things technology to study the performance of network propagation model. This paper first introduces the construction environment of the business push system and then realizes user clustering and active business push by using the experimental data. Experimental results show that the active service push system constructed in this paper is feasible and effective. The experiment also compares and analyzes the influence of different clustering methods on the accuracy of service push. The results show that the clustering effect of the multi-Markov chain model (m-MCM) method is superior to that of the K-means method, a commonly used machine learning method, and the accuracy of user-service push obtained by the m-MCM method is superior to that obtained by the K-means method. Finally, on the basis of the existing experimental results, the shortcomings of the service push system are summarized, the future improvement direction and specific implementation measures are proposed, and new requirements for the future update of the service push system are put forward. What kind of method can be used to automatically retrieve music information effectively and quickly in vocal singing has become one of the current research topics that has attracted much attention. Aiming at this problem, it is of great research significance for the field of timbre feature recognition. With the in-depth research on timbre feature recognition, the research on timbre feature extraction by machine learning in vocal singing has also been gradually carried out, and its performance advantages are of great significance to solve the problem of automatic retrieval of music information. This paper aims to study the application of feature extraction algorithm based on machine learning in timbre feature extraction in vocal singing. Through the analysis and research of machine learning and feature extraction methods, it can be applied to the construction of timbre feature extraction algorithms to solve the problem of automatic retrieval of music information. This paper analyzed vocal singing, machine learning, and feature extraction, experimentally analyzed the performance of the method, and used related theoretical formulas to explain. The results have showed that the method for timbre feature extraction in the vocal singing environment was more accurate than the traditional method, the difference between the two was 24.27%, and the proportion of satisfied users was increased by 33%. In order to meet the intelligent demand of modern financial data analysis, this paper proposes a financial accounting information data analysis system based on the Internet of things. Based on the central reinforcement learning architecture, the model uses multiple execution modules to enhance the computing and generalization ability of the single-agent reinforcement learning algorithm. In the selection of reinforcement learning algorithm, the instantaneous time difference algorithm is introduced. The algorithm can synchronize the experience of the previous iteration state in the learning process and does not depend on the final prediction value, which greatly saves the storage cost. In the establishment of the financial data analysis index system, the paper comprehensively considers the enterprise's operation, development, debt repayment, and other capabilities, ensuring the integrity and rationality of the index system. In order to evaluate the performance of the algorithm, this paper takes the real financial data as the sample and uses BP neural network to conduct a comparative experiment. The experimental results show that the recognition accuracy of the model is better than that of the BP neural network in each experimental scenario, and the recognition accuracy of Experiment 3 is improved by 4.6%. Combining filters in an ensemble to improve feature selection performance is a growing field in the literature. Current techniques, however, are focused on approaches that suffer from drawbacks such as sensitivity to skewed distribution, among others. To address this gap, this paper investigates the applicability of multiple criteria decision-making in ensemble feature selection. This paper adopts the Evaluation based on Distance from Average Solution (EDAS) method due to its many familiar elements to the feature selection community. An experiment was performed on six datasets and a control group. The paper uses the six datasets as levels of the blocking factor. A negative control group (i.e., no feature selection) was adopted to compare with the proposed algorithm. Results show that the proposed ensemble FS algorithm was able to reduce the dataset without compromising the performance of the classifier. The findings in this study would contribute to the literature in several ways. First, the paper is one of the few works to demonstrate how MCDM can be used in feature selection with promising results. Second, this paper is one of the few works to demonstrate the significance of including datasets as levels of a blocking factor when performing significance testing. Finally, this paper is the first to demonstrate the applicability of EDAS as an ensemble FS algorithm.
