The application of big data, radiomics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms in radiology requires access to large data sets containing personal health information. Because machine learning projects often require collaboration between different sites or data transfer to a third party, precautions are required to safeguard patient privacy. Safety measures are required to prevent inadvertent access to and transfer of identifiable information. The Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) is the national voice of radiology committed to promoting the highest standards in patient-centered imaging, lifelong learning, and research. The CAR has created an AI Ethical and Legal standing committee with the mandate to guide the medical imaging community in terms of best practices in data management, access to health care data, de-identification, and accountability practices. Part 2 of this article will inform CAR members on the practical aspects of medical imaging de-identification, strengths and limitations of de-identification approaches, list of de-identification software and tools available, and perspectives on future directions. External audit is undergoing rapid changes where more and more routine tasks are automated with analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) instruments. The paper addresses a research problem of mapping data analytics to audit tasks and develops a framework aligning audit phases and AI and using data analytics in teaching audit with AI. The paper contributes to the literature on using data analytics with AI in knowledge specific areas and particularly critical for emerging audit analytics, which is data analytics in external financial audit application. The paper employs the process model methodology (Wynn and Clarkson, Research in Engineering Design 29:161–202, 2018) and the hybrid approach of curriculum development (Dzuranin et al., Journal of Accounting Education 43:24–39, 2018). The framework is extended further by inclusion of knowledge areas and skills recommendations for each identified stage. This inclusion is linked to the peak accounting body guidelines to ensure compliance with course certification and future job prospects. The developed framework is implemented using audit management platform MindBridge AI. The developed teaching and learning materials show implementation of the framework on the practical level. It is nowadays widely understood that undeclared work cannot be efficiently combated without a holistic view on the mechanisms underlying its existence. However, the question remains whether we possess all the pieces of the holistic puzzle. To fill the gap, in this paper, we test if the features so far known to affect the behaviour of taxpayers are sufficient to detect noncompliance with outstanding precision. This is done by training seven supervised machine learning models on the compilation of data from the 2019 Special Eurobarometer on undeclared work and relevant figures from other sources. The conducted analysis not only does attest to the completeness of our knowledge concerning the drivers of undeclared work but also paves the way for wide usage of artificial intelligence in monitoring and confronting this detrimental practice. The study, however, exposes the necessity of having at disposal considerably larger datasets compared to those currently available if successful real-world applications of machine learning are to be achieved in this field. Online learning has significantly expanded along with the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Personalization becomes an essential component of learning systems due to students' different learning styles and abilities. Recommending materials that meet the needs and are tailored to learners' styles and abilities is necessary to ensure a personalized learning system. The study conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) of papers on recommendation systems for e-learning in the K12 setting published between 2017 and 2021 and aims to identify the most important component of a personalized recommender system for school students' e-learning. Recommendations for later studies were proposed based on the identified components, namely a personalized conceptual framework for providing materials to school students. Background: Surgical waiting lists have risen dramatically across the UK as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The effective use of operating theatres by optimal scheduling could help mitigate this, but this requires accurate case duration predictions. Current standards for predicting the duration of surgery are inaccurate. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers the potential for greater accuracy in predicting surgical case duration. This study aimed to investigate whether there is evidence to support that AI is more accurate than current industry standards at predicting surgical case duration, with a secondary aim of analysing whether the implementation of the models used produced efficiency savings. Method: PubMed, Embase, and MEDLINE libraries were searched through to July 2023 to identify appropriate articles. PRISMA extension for scoping reviews and the Arksey and O'Malley framework were followed. Study quality was assessed using a modified version of the reporting guidelines for surgical AI papers by Farrow et al. Algorithm performance was reported using evaluation metrics. Results: The search identified 2593 articles: 14 were suitable for inclusion and 13 reported on the accuracy of AI algorithms against industry standards, with seven demonstrating a statistically significant improvement in prediction accuracy (P < 0.05). The larger studies demonstrated the superiority of neural networks over other machine learning techniques. Efficiency savings were identified in a RCT. Significant methodological limitations were identified across most studies. Conclusion: The studies suggest that machine learning and deep learning models are more accurate at predicting the duration of surgery; however, further research is required to determine the best way to implement this technology. The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted every aspect of our lives, from economic to the social facets of contemporary society. While the new COVID-19 waves may not be anticipated to be as severe as previous ones, it would be unreasonable to assume that they will cease any time soon. Consequently, forecasting the number of future infections, recovered patients, and death cases remains a very much logical step in trying to fight against further waves, in conjunction with ongoing vaccination efforts. In this paper, we investigate the efficiency of three intelligent machine learning algorithms, namely GMDH, Bi-LSTM, and GA + NN, for COVID-19 forecasting, with an application to Iran and the United Kingdom. The experimental results show that the algorithms can be used to forecast the next six months of COVID-19 in terms of confirmed, recovered, and death cases, which gives a more ample timeframe for using the results to make better practical yet strategic decisions and take appropriate actions or measures to deploy resources effectively to contain or curb the spread of the coronavirus. This paper presents classification and analysis of the mathematical models of the spread of COVID-19 in different groups of population such as family, school, office (3–100 people), town (100–5000 people), city, region (0.5–15 million people), country, continent, and the world. The classification covers major types of models (time-series, differential, imitation ones, neural networks models and their combinations). The time-series models are based on analysis of time series using filtration, regression and network methods. The differential models are those derived from systems of ordinary and stochastic differential equations as well as partial differential equations. The imitation models include cellular automata and agent-based models. The fourth group in the classification consists of combinations of nonlinear Markov chains and optimal control theory, derived by methods of the mean-field game theory. COVID-19 is a novel and complicated disease, and the parameters of most models are, as a rule, unknown and estimated by solving inverse problems. Background: The declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic triggered global efforts to control and manage the virus impact. Scientists and researchers have been strongly involved in developing effective strategies that can help policy makers and healthcare systems both to monitor the spread and to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have been applied in several fronts of the fight. Foremost is diagnostic assistance, encompassing patient triage, prediction of ICU admission and mortality, identification of mortality risk factors, and discovering treatment drugs and vaccines. Objective: This systematic review aims to identify original research studies involving actual patient data to construct ML- and AI-based models for clinical decision support for early response during the pandemic years. Methods: Following the PRISMA methodology, two large academic research publication indexing databases were searched to investigate the use of ML-based technologies and their applications in healthcare to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: The literature search returned more than 1000 papers; 220 were selected according to specific criteria. The selected studies illustrate the usefulness of ML with respect to supporting healthcare professionals for (1) triage of patients depending on disease severity, (2) predicting admission to hospital or Intensive Care Units (ICUs), (3) search for new or repurposed treatments and (4) the identification of mortality risk factors. Conclusion: The ML/AI research community was able to propose and develop a wide variety of solutions for predicting mortality, hospitalizations and treatment recommendations for patients with COVID-19 diagnostic, opening the door for further integration of ML in clinical practices fighting this and forecoming pandemics. However, the translation to the clinical practice is impeded by the heterogeneity of both the datasets and the methodological and computational approaches. Since early 2020, Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread widely around the world. COVID-19 infects the lungs, leading to breathing difficulties. Early detection of COVID-19 is important for the prevention and treatment of pandemic. Numerous sources of medical images (e.g., Chest X-Rays (CXR), Computed Tomography (CT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)) are regarded as a desirable technique for diagnosing COVID-19 cases. Medical images of coronavirus patients show that the lungs are filled with sticky mucus that prevents them from inhaling. Today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) based algorithms have made a significant shift in the computer aided diagnosis due to their effective feature extraction capabilities. In this survey, a complete and systematic review of the application of Machine Learning (ML) methods for the detection of COVID-19 is presented, focused on works that used medical images. We aimed to evaluate various ML-based techniques in detecting COVID-19 using medical imaging. A total of 26 papers were extracted from ACM, ScienceDirect, Springerlink, Tech Science Press, and IEEExplore. Five different ML categories to review these mechanisms are considered, which are supervised learning-based, deep learning-based, active learning-based, transfer learning-based, and evolutionary learning-based mechanisms. A number of articles are investigated in each group. Also, some directions for further research are discussed to improve the detection of COVID-19 using ML techniques in the future. In most articles, deep learning is used as the ML method. Also, most of the researchers used CXR images to diagnose COVID-19. Most articles reported accuracy of the models to evaluate model performance. The accuracy of the studied models ranged from 0.84 to 0.99. The 2019 novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19), with a point of origin in Wuhan, China, has spread rapidly all over the world. It turned into a raging pandemic wrecking havoc on health care facilities, world economy and affecting everyone's life to date. With every new variant, rate of transmission, spread of infections and the number of cases continues to rise at an international level and scale. There are limited reliable researches that study microdroplets spread and transmissions from human sneeze or cough in the airborne space. In this paper, we propose an intelligent technique to visualize, detect, measure the distance of spread in a real-world settings of microdroplet transmissions in airborne space, called "COVNET45". In this paper, we investigate the microdroplet transmission and validate the measurements accuracy compared to published researches, by examining several microscopic and visual images taken to investigate the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19). The ultimate contribution is to calculate the spread of the microdroplets, measure it precisely and provide a graphical presentation. In December 2019, COVID-19 appeared for the first time in Wuhan (Hubei Province, China), after which it quickly spread over the entire earth. The World Health Organization quickly designated COVID-19 a pandemic because of the high number of deaths and rapid global spread of the disease. Because of this, many facets of society have been impacted, and those effects may last for years to come. Therefore, COVID-19 detection methods were the focus of numerous research projects in the past. This has led to the development of the COVID-19 AI Detector, a specialized area of artificial intelligence-based research. In this paper, we survey all significant current efforts that have taken advantage of machine learning to COVID-19 detection and prediction. We first surveyed all datasets used in relevant research, and then summarized them in a table containing the link to that data. Then, we mention all the methodologies employed to detect the presence of COVID-19 using such datasets. Later, the challenges and difficulties that facing the concerned researches are reported, while the results of all interesting related work that lay ahead in this field before concluding this paper were discussed fairly. The COVID-19 has affected and threatened the world health system very critically throughout the globe. In order to take preventive actions by the agencies in dealing with such a pandemic situation, it becomes very necessary to develop a system to analyze the impact of environmental parameters on the spread of this virus. Machine learning algorithms and artificial Intelligence may play an important role in the detection and analysis of the spread of COVID-19. This paper proposed a twinned gradient boosting machine (GBM) to analyze the impact of environmental parameters on the spread, recovery, and mortality rate of this virus in India. The proposed paper exploited the four weather parameters (temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, and wind speed) and two air pollution parameters (PM2.5 and PM10) as input to predict the infection, recovery, and mortality rate of its spread. The algorithm of the GBM model has been optimized in its four distributions for best performance by tuning its parameters. The performance of the GBM is reported as excellent (where R2 = 0.99) in training for the combined dataset comprises all three outcomes i.e. infection, recovery and mortality rates. Collaborative learning has been widely acknowledged as a successful teaching method within the education field, with research indicating its positive impact on student outcomes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when all courses transitioned online due to lockdown measures, many universities employed learning management systems to facilitate continued group work among students. However, forming effective student groups remained challenging, particularly given the large number of enrolled students. To address this issue, this study proposes the application of an artificial intelligence (machine learning) solution to automatically group students based on their behaviours and interactions within an e-learning environment. This paper explores the potential of machine learning (ML) algorithms in assisting educators to create heterogeneous groups, considering various student attributes, such as behaviour and performance, to optimise collaborative learning outcomes. Students' performance within a module was compared using a wiki activity that employed group work over the course of two academic years. In the first experiment, groups were formed randomly, while in the second experiment, students with similar behaviours were firstly identified using a clustering algorithm and then organised by an additional algorithm into heterogeneous groups. The results demonstrate the efficacy of the machine learning solution compared to the random approach in assisting educators with group formation for a collaborative activity such as the wiki, confirmed by a comparative analysis showing an improvement in student performance and satisfaction. The advancement of artificial intelligence in education (AIED) has the potential to transform the educational landscape and influence the role of all involved stakeholders. In recent years, the applications of AIED have been gradually adopted to progress our understanding of students' learning and enhance learning performance and experience. However, the adoption of AIED has led to increasing ethical risks and concerns regarding several aspects such as personal data and learner autonomy. Despite the recent announcement of guidelines for ethical and trustworthy AIED, the debate revolves around the key principles underpinning ethical AIED. This paper aims to explore whether there is a global consensus on ethical AIED by mapping and analyzing international organizations' current policies and guidelines. In this paper, we first introduce the opportunities offered by AI in education and potential ethical issues. Then, thematic analysis was conducted to conceptualize and establish a set of ethical principles by examining and synthesizing relevant ethical policies and guidelines for AIED. We discuss each principle and associated implications for relevant educational stakeholders, including students, teachers, technology developers, policymakers, and institutional decision-makers. The proposed set of ethical principles is expected to serve as a framework to inform and guide educational stakeholders in the development and deployment of ethical and trustworthy AIED as well as catalyze future development of related impact studies in the field. The recently discovered coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, which was detected in Wuhan, China, has spread worldwide and is still being studied at the end of 2019. Detection of COVID-19 at an early stage is essential to provide adequate healthcare to affected patients and protect the uninfected community. This paper aims to design and develop a novel ensemble-based classifier to predict COVID-19 cases at a very early stage so that appropriate action can be taken by patients, doctors, health organizations, and the government. In this paper, a synthetic dataset of COVID-19 is generated by a dataset generation algorithm. A novel ensemble-based classifier of machine learning is employed on the COVID-19 dataset to predict the disease. A convex hull-based approach is also applied to the data to improve the proposed novel, ensemble-based classifier's accuracy and speed. The model is designed and developed through the python programming language and compares with the most popular classifier, i.e., Decision Tree, ID3, and support vector machine. Presently, novel coronavirus outbreak 2019 (COVID-19) is a major threat to public health. Mathematical epidemic models can be utilized to forecast the course of an epidemic and cultivate approaches for controlling it. This paper utilizes the real data of spreading COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia for mathematical modeling and complex analyses. This paper introduces the Susceptible, Exposed, Infectious, Recovered, Undetectable, and Deceased (SEIRUD) and Machine learning algorithm to predict and control COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia.This COVID-19 has initiated many methods, such as cloud computing, edge-computing, IoT, artificial intelligence. The use of sensor devices has increased enormously. Similarly, several developments in solving the COVID-19 crisis have been used by IoT applications. The new technology relies on IoT variables and the roles of symptoms using wearable sensors to forecast cases of COVID-19. The working model involves wearable devices, occupational therapy, condition control, testing of cases, suspicious and IoT elements. Mathematical modeling is useful for understanding the fundamental principle of the transmission of COVID-19 and providing guidance for possible predictions. The method suggested predicts whether COVID-19 would expand or die in the long term in the population. The mathematical study results and related simulation are described here as a way of forecasting the progress and the possible end of the epidemic with three forms of scenarios: 'No Action,' 'Lockdowns and New Medicine.' The lock case slows it down the peak by minimizing infection and impacts area equality of the infected deformation. This study familiarizes the ideal protocol, which can support the Saudi population to breakdown spreading COVID-19 in an accurate and timely way. The simulation findings have been executed, and the suggested model enhances the accuracy ratio of 89.3%, prediction ratio of 88.7%, the precision ratio of 87.7%, recall ratio of 86.4%, and F1 score of 90.9% compared to other existing methods. Cardiac-related disorders are rapidly growing throughout the world. Accurate classification of cardiovascular diseases is an important research topic in healthcare. During COVID-19, auscultating heart sounds was challenging as health workers and doctors wear protective clothing, and direct contact with patients can spread the outbreak. Thus, contactless auscultation of heart sound is necessary. In this paper, a low-cost ear contactless stethoscope is designed where auscultation is done with the help of a bluetooth-enabled micro speaker instead of an earpiece. The PCG recordings are further compared with other standard electronic stethoscopes like Littman 3 M. This work is made to improve the performance of deep learning-based classifiers like recurrent neural networks (RNN) and convolutional neural networks (CNN) for different valvular heart problems using tuning of hyperparameters like learning rate of optimizers, dropout rate, and hidden layer. Hyper-parameter tuning is used to optimize the performances of various deep learning models and their learning curves for real-time analysis. The acoustic, time, and frequency domain features are used in this research. The investigation is made on the heart sounds of normal and diseased patients available from the standard data repository to train the software models. The proposed CNN-based inception network model achieved an accuracy of 99.65 ± 0.06% on the test dataset with a sensitivity of 98.8 ± 0.05% and specificity of 98.2 ± 0.19%. The proposed hybrid CNN-RNN architecture attained 91.17 ± 0.03% accuracy on test data after hyperparameter optimization, whereas the LSTM-based RNN model achieved 82.32 ± 0.11% accuracy. Finally, the evaluated results were compared with machine learning algorithms, and the improved CNN-based Inception Net model is the most effective among others. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A global health emergency resulted from the COVID-19 epidemic. Image recognition techniques are a useful tool for limiting the spread of the pandemic; indeed, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the use of face masks in public places as a form of protection against contagion. Hence, innovative systems and algorithms were deployed to rapidly screen a large number of people with faces covered by masks. In this article, we analyze the current state of research and future directions in algorithms and systems for masked-face recognition. First, the paper discusses the importance and applications of facial and face mask recognition, introducing the main approaches. Afterward, we review the recent facial recognition frameworks and systems based on Convolution Neural Networks, deep learning, machine learning, and MobilNet techniques. In detail, we analyze and critically discuss recent scientific works and systems which employ machine learning (ML) and deep learning tools for promptly recognizing masked faces. Also, Internet of Things (IoT)-based sensors, implementing ML and DL algorithms, were described to keep track of the number of persons donning face masks and notify the proper authorities. Afterward, the main challenges and open issues that should be solved in future studies and systems are discussed. The spread of the COVID-19 started back in 2019; and so far, more than 4 million people around the world have lost their lives to this deadly virus and its variants. In view of the high transmissibility of the Corona virus, which has turned this disease into a global pandemic, artificial intelligence can be employed as an effective tool for an earlier detection and treatment of this illness. In this review paper, we evaluate the performance of the deep learning models in processing the X-Ray and CT-Scan images of the Corona patients' lungs and describe the changes made to these models in order to enhance their Corona detection accuracy. To this end, we introduce the famous deep learning models such as VGGNet, GoogleNet and ResNet and after reviewing the research works in which these models have been used for the detection of COVID-19, we compare the performances of the newer models such as DenseNet, CapsNet, MobileNet and EfficientNet. We then present the deep learning techniques of GAN, transfer learning, and data augmentation and examine the statistics of using these techniques. Here, we also describe the datasets introduced since the onset of the COVID-19. These datasets contain the lung images of Corona patients, healthy individuals, and the patients with non-Corona pulmonary diseases. Lastly, we elaborate on the existing challenges in the use of artificial intelligence for COVID-19 detection and the prospective trends of using this method in similar situations and conditions. Healthcare sensors represent a valid and non-invasive instrument to capture and analyse physiological data. Several vital signals, such as voice signals, can be acquired anytime and anywhere, achieved with the least possible discomfort to the patient thanks to the development of increasingly advanced devices. The integration of sensors with artificial intelligence techniques contributes to the realization of faster and easier solutions aimed at improving early diagnosis, personalized treatment, remote patient monitoring and better decision making, all tasks vital in a critical situation such as that of the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper presents a study about the possibility to support the early and non-invasive detection of COVID-19 through the analysis of voice signals by means of the main machine learning algorithms. If demonstrated, this detection capacity could be embedded in a powerful mobile screening application. To perform this important study, the Coswara dataset is considered. The aim of this investigation is not only to evaluate which machine learning technique best distinguishes a healthy voice from a pathological one, but also to identify which vowel sound is most seriously affected by COVID-19 and is, therefore, most reliable in detecting the pathology. The results show that Random Forest is the technique that classifies most accurately healthy and pathological voices. The coronavirus (COVID-19) is a disease declared a global pandemic that threatens the whole world. Since then, research has accelerated and varied to find practical solutions for the early detection and correct identification of this disease. Several researchers have focused on using the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques in disease diagnosis to diagnose and detect the coronavirus. This paper developed deep learning (DL) and machine learning (ML) -based models using laboratory findings to diagnose COVID-19. Six different methods are used in this study: Knearest neighbor (KNN), Decision Tree (DT) and Naive Bayes (NB) as a machine learning method, and Deep Neural Network (DNN), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), and Long-term memory (LSTM) as DL methods. These approaches are evaluated using a dataset obtained from the Israelita Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This data consists of 5644 laboratory results from different patients, with 10% being Covid-19 positive cases. The dataset includes 18 attributes that characterizeCOVID-19. We used accuracy, f1-score, recall and precision to evaluate the different developed systems. The obtained results confirmed these approaches' effectiveness in identifying COVID-19, However, ML-based classifiers couldn't performup to the standards achieved byDL-basedmodels. Among all, NB performed worst by hardly achieving accuracy above 76%,Whereas KNN and DT compete by securing 84.56% and 85% accuracies, respectively. Besides these, DL models attained better performance as CNN, DNN and LSTM secured more than 90% accuracies. The LTSM outperformed all by achieving an accuracy of 96.78% and an F1-score of 96.58%. The recent COVID-19 pandemic, which broke at the end of the year 2019 in Wuhan, China, has infected more than 98.52 million people by today (January 23, 2021) with over 2.11 million deaths across the globe. To combat the growing pandemic on urgent basis, there is need to design effective solutions using new techniques that could exploit recent technology, such as machine learning, deep learning, big data, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, for identification and tracking of COVID-19 cases in near real time. These technologies have offered inexpensive and rapid solution for proper screening, analyzing, prediction and tracking of COVID-19 positive cases. In this paper, a detailed review of the role of AI as a decisive tool for prognosis, analyze, and tracking the COVID-19 cases is performed. We searched various databases including Google Scholar, IEEE Library, Scopus and Web of Science using a combination of different keywords consisting of COVID-19 and AI. We have identified various applications, where AI can help healthcare practitioners in the process of identification and monitoring of COVID-19 cases. A compact summary of the corona virus cases are first highlighted, followed by the application of AI. Finally, we conclude the paper by highlighting new research directions and discuss the research challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic is rapidly spreading across the globe and infected millions of people that take hundreds of thousands of lives. Over the years, the role of Artificial intelligence (AI) has been on the rise as its algorithms are getting more and more accurate and it is thought that its role in strengthening the existing healthcare system will be the most profound. Moreover, the pandemic brought an opportunity to showcase AI and healthcare integration potentials as the current infrastructure worldwide is overwhelmed and crumbling. Due to AI's flexibility and adaptability, it can be used as a tool to tackle COVID-19. Motivated by these facts, in this paper, we surveyed how the AI techniques can handle the COVID-19 pandemic situation and present the merits and demerits of these techniques. This paper presents a comprehensive end-to-end review of all the AI-techniques that can be used to tackle all areas of the pandemic. Further, we systematically discuss the issues of the COVID-19, and based on the literature review, we suggest their potential countermeasures using AI techniques. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been an increasing growing need for learning experience or instructional designers. As a result, online courses on user experience (UX) design for learning are in demand to prepare those much-needed professionals. This paper reports the first circle of educational design research (EDR) on such a completely online problem-based course using group contracts and peer-evaluations to promote collaborations. Multiple datasets were collected from a range of data sources from a graduate-level course and were analyzed by two researchers. The study yielded several meaningful results: (1) group contracts helped students work smoothly and keep goals focused on collaborative learning in PBL; (2) the instructor could facilitate the group formation process; (3) peer evaluations helped group collaboration and monitoring; and (4) collaborative technologies are critical for collaboration. The findings also revealed important design principles for collaborative learning in PBL that can be used in similar courses. In addition, this study provides a successful example of how to teach UX design in an online PBL environment, and sheds light on how to further improve similar practices while contributing to the limited body of research on UX design for learning. Professional development programs for teachers in higher education are often characterized by top-down approaches, which fail to make appreciable differences in teaching practices. This study uses a qualitative approach to explore activity-oriented design (AOD) as an instrument for collaborative learning in higher education teacher professional development. We examine Teknosofikum, an ongoing project developed in Denmark along three iterations, involving a total of 64 course participants (42 in the hybrid format; 22 online). The study applies the methodology of design-based research: data was collected via 15 semi-structured group interviews, online forums, and field notes/recordings from online meetings and onsite workshops. Data analysis follows the methodology of grounded theory and evidence is given significance inductively, based on contextual data. Four activities were selected to assess the potential of AOD methods in enhancing teacher collaboration, with different aims reflection, discussion, theory-practice alignment, and participation. Our analysis revolved around three main categories: trust, deep interaction, and shared beliefs/values. The results show how collaborative group work activities have improved trust and knowledge-sharing among participants and have contributed to creating a safe learning environment. The paper concludes that AOD methods could better assist educational designers in promoting professional development courses that aim at enhancing teacher collaboration in higher education. This study investigated a digital reform initiative, rated excellent by the government, of one higher education institution (HEI) in an Arab State in the Gulf. The focus of the study was to develop a digital typology, while exploring the leadership attributes that characterized the core leadership team, as they accomplished the migration towards a digital culture in one year, within a context where faculty members showed resistance against digitalization. The study was conducted immediately after the implementation of the initiative that took place over the course of one year, just before the Covid-19 pandemic. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with all the six key individuals in the leadership team who led this initiative. Data was analyzed using content-based analysis. Findings of the study were used to synthesize a 5D typology for digital leadership attributes: (1) Digital competence; (2) Digital culture; (3) Digital Differentiation; (4) Digital governance; and (5) Digital advocacy. In our paper, we investigate how effectively artificial intelligence can be used to predict stock market trends in the world's leading equity markets over the period 01/01/2010 to 09/16/2022. Covid-19 and the Russian-Ukrainian war have had a strong impact on the capital markets and therefore the study was conducted in a highly volatile environment. The analysis was performed on three time intervals, using two machine learning algorithms of different complexity (decision tree, LSTM) and a parametric statistical model (linear regression). The evaluation of the results obtained was based on mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). In our study, we show that predictive models can perform better than linear regression in the period of high volatility. Another important finding is that the predictive models performed better in the post-Russian-Ukrainian war period than after the outbreak of Covid-19. Stock market price forecasting can play an important role in fundamental and technical analysis, can be incorporated into the decision criteria of algorithmic trading, or can be used on its own to automate trading. COVID‐19 has swept across the globe and disrupted all vectors of social life. Every informed measure must be taken to stop its spread, bring down number of new infections and move to normalization of daily life. Contemporary research has not identified waste management as one of the critical transmission vectors for COVID‐19 virus. However, most underdeveloped countries are facing problems in waste management processes due to the general inadequacy and inability of waste management. In that context, smart intervention will be needed to contain possibility of the COVID‐19 spread due to inadequate waste management. This paper presents a comparative study of the artificial intelligence/machine learning based techniques, and potential applications in the COVID‐19 waste management cycle (WMC). A general integrated solid waste management (ISWM) strategy is mapped for both short‐term and long‐term goals of COVID‐19 WMC, making use of the techniques investigated. Since the initial reports of the Coronavirus surfacing in Wuhan, China, the novel virus currently without a cure has spread like wildfire across the globe, the virus spread exponentially across all inhabited continent, catching local governments by surprise in many cases and bringing the world economy to a standstill. As local authorities work on a response to deal with the virus, the scientific community has stepped in to help analyze and predict the pattern and conditions that would influence the spread of this unforgiving virus. Using existing statistical modeling tools to the latest artificial intelligence technology, the scientific community has used public and privately available data to help with predictions. A lot of this data research has enabled local authorities to plan their response—whether that is to deploy tightly available medical resources like ventilators or how and when to enforce policies to social distance, including lockdowns. On the one hand, this paper shows what accuracy of research brings to enable fighting this disease; while on the other hand, it also shows what lack of response from local authorities can do in spreading this virus. The rapid emergence of novel virus named SARS-CoV2 and unchecked dissemination of this virus around the world ever since its outbreak in 2020, provide critical research criteria to assess the vulnerabilities of our current health system. The paper addresses our preparedness for the management of such acute health emergencies and the need to enhance awareness, about public health and healthcare mechanisms. In view of this unprecedented health crisis, distributed ledger and AI technology can be seen as one of the promising alternatives for fighting against such epidemics at the early stages, and with the higher efficacy. This article opens up a new field of research in Light of COVID-19 Artificial Intelligence, mainly explaining this binding domain's current trends and knowledge fields. The bibliometric analysis was performed to present new research trends in Artificial Intelligence in light of COVID-19. The data of 1635 studies published in Web of Science were analyzed during the last two years (2020- 2021) using three software CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and KnowledgeMatrix Plus. The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a significant increase in the workload for the emergency systems and healthcare providers all around the world. The emergency systems are dealing with large number of patients in various stages of deteriorating conditions which require significant medical expertise for accurate and rapid diagnosis and treatment. This issue will become more prominent in places with lack of medical experts and state-of-the-art clinical equipment, especially in developing countries. The machine intelligence aided medical diagnosis systems can provide rapid, dependable, autonomous, and low-cost solutions for medical diagnosis in emergency conditions. In this paper, a privacy-preserving computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) framework, called Decentralized deep Emergency response Intelligence (D-EI), which provides secure machine learning based medical diagnosis on the cloud is proposed. The proposed framework provides a blockchain based decentralized machine learning solution to aid the health providers with medical diagnosis in emergency conditions. The D-EI uses blockchain smart contracts to train the CAD machine learning models using all the data on the medical cloud while preserving the privacy of patients' records. Using the proposed framework, the data of each patient helps to increase the overall accuracy of the CAD model by balancing the diagnosis datasets with minority classes and special cases. As a case study, the D-EI is demonstrated as a solution for COVID-19 diagnosis. The world has changed dramatically since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. This has not only affected the humanity, but has also badly damaged the world's socio-economic system. Currently, people are looking for a magical solution to overcome this pandemic. Similarly, scientists across the globe are working to find remedies to overcome this challenge. The role of technologies is not far behind in this situation, which attracts many sectors from government agencies to medical practitioners, and market analysts. This is quite true that in a few months of time, scientists, researchers, and industrialists have come up with some acceptable innovative solutions and harnessing existing technologies to stop the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, it is pertinent to highlight the role of intelligent technologies, which play a pivotal role in curbing this pandemic. In this paper, we devise a taxonomy related to the technologies being used in the current pandemic. We show that the most prominent technologies are artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, big data analytics, and blockchain. Moreover, we highlight some key open challenges, which technologists might face to control this outbreak. Finally, we conclude that to impede this pandemic, a collective effort is required from different professionals in support of using existing and new technologies. In the recent past, the COVID-19 epidemic has impeded global economic progress and, by extension, all of society. This type of pandemic has spread rapidly, posing a threat to human lives and the economy. Because of the growing scale of COVID-19 cases, employing artificial intelligence for future prediction purposes during this pandemic is crucial. Consequently, the major objective of this research paper is to compare various deep learning forecasting algorithms, including auto-regressive integrated moving average, long short-term memory, and conventional neural network techniques to forecast how COVID-19 would spread in Saudi Arabia in terms of the number of people infected, the number of deaths, and the number of recovered cases. Three different time horizons were used for COVID-19 predictions: short-term forecasting, medium-term forecasting, and long-term forecasting. Data pre-processing and feature extraction steps were performed as an integral part of the analysis work. Six performance measures were applied for comparing the efficacy of the developed models. LSTM and CNN algorithms have shown superior predictive precision with errors of less than 5% measured on available real data sets. The best model to predict the confirmed death cases is LSTM, which has better RMSE and R 2 values. Still, CNN has a similar comparative performance to LSTM. LSTM unexpectedly performed badly when predicting the recovered cases, with RMSE and R 2 values of 641.3 and 0.313, respectively. Conversational artificial intelligence (AI) is a type of artificial intelligence that uses machine learning techniques to understand and respond to user inputs. This paper presents a conversational chat system that uses an attention mechanism to respond to COVID-19 inquiries. The model is based on the Luong Attention Mechanism's three scoring methodologies the Dot Attention Mechanism, the General Attention Mechanism, and the Concat Attention Mechanism. The results show that the accuracy of the dot attention mechanism is highest and is 87% when the test questions were obtained directly from the database, as determined by an examination of the results, compared to 38% when the attention mechanism is not used. Furthermore, when the questions are asked with natural variations, human verification accuracy is 63% compared to 16% when the attention mechanism is not used. The effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on crude oil prices just faded; at this moment, the Russia–Ukraine war brought a new crisis. In this paper, a new application is developed that predicts the change in crude oil prices by incorporating these two global effects. Unlike most existing studies, this work uses a dataset that involves data collected over twenty-two years and contains seven different features, such as crude oil opening, closing, intraday highest value, and intraday lowest value. This work applies cross-validation to predict the crude oil prices by using machine learning algorithms (support vector machine, linear regression, and rain forest) and deep learning algorithms (long short-term memory and bidirectional long short-term memory). The results obtained by machine learning and deep learning algorithms are compared. INTRODUCTION: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has recently emerged around the world. The beginning of the disease was in the Chinese city of Wuhan and then it has been spread and became a global epidemic. An early diagnosis of COVID-19 disease is absolutely necessary to control the epidemic. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this paper is to present a review of the contribution of machine learning (ML) and IoT to confront the epidemic. METHODS: Diagnosis using real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is a definite diagnosis, but this method takes time, while a diagnosis using a computed tomography (CT) scan is a faster approach to diagnosis. However, a large number of patients need a CT scan, which puts a lot of pressure on the radiologist so visual fatigue may lead to diagnostic errors so there is an urgent need for additional solutions. Artificial intelligence (AI) is an efficient tool to combat COVID-19 disease. Computer scientists have been developing many systems to handle this epidemic. RESULTS: It was found that ML is an efficient and powerful AI technology that can be used for trustworthy COVID-19 detecting and diagnosis from X-ray and CT images and it can be a potential method for diagnosis in the radiology department. In addition, ML can be used in segmentation, prediction purposes for COVID-19. Furthermore, ML can effectively support drug discovery procedure and can reduce clinical failures. CONCLUSION: IoT has a significant role in monitoring an individual's health and COVID-19 diagnosis. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a global public health concern since March 11, 2020. Healthcare systems struggled to meet patients' growing needs for diagnosis, treatment, and care. As healthcare industries struggled to cope with the overwhelming demands, advanced intelligence and computing technologies have become essential. Artificial intelligence techniques have become essential for identifying and triaging patients, predicting disease severity, and detecting outcomes. The aim of the paper is to propose a gradient boosting-based model to predict the mortality of COVID-19 patients and to improve the prediction accuracy by incorporating resampling strategies. A real COVID-19 data that includes patients' travel, health, geographical, and demographic information is obtained from a public repository. The dataset used in the study has the class imbalance problem, and several approaches are applied to solve the problem. In this study, a gradient boosting-based model for predicting the mortality of COVID-19 patients is proposed. This approach incorporates resampling strategies, such as synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE), random under-sampling, and clustering-based under-sampling, to address the imbalanced class distribution problem in the dataset. Then, gradient boosting machines (GBM) such as extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM), and categorical boosting (CatBoost) are analyzed in terms of accuracy and computational time. Random search method is used to find the optimal hyper-parameters for the algorithms. A stacking-based hybrid model that combines the XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost algorithms was used for comparison in the experiments. In the experiments, the factors that can influence the mortality of COVID-19 patients are investigated. And, it is found that the age of the patient, whether the patient belonged to Wuhan, the difference between when they first noticed symptoms and when they visited the hospital (in days) affect the mortality. By utilizing over/under-sampling approaches, we ameliorated the concern of class imbalance. XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost are effectively analyzed in terms of various performance metrics to determine the suitable GBM for the proposed system. The experimental results revealed that the stacking-based hybrid model performs well with the balanced dataset provided by SMOTE. CatBoost produces superior results for a balanced dataset with random under-sampling and clustering-based under-sampling. The main focus of the study is to propose a gradient boosting-based model for predicting the mortality of COVID-19 patients. This study also emphasizes the importance of addressing the imbalanced class distribution problem in the dataset and incorporates resampling strategies to improve the prediction accuracy. Cyberattacks have reached their peak during COVID-19, and intruders urge to gain the upper hand in the cybersecurity battlefield, even gaining dominance. Now intruders are trying harder to elude behavior analysis techniques, which in turn gets organization security to come for a toss. This phenomenon is even more prevalent in agentless environments (IOT devices, mobile devices), where we do not have any access to edge devices and rely on packet data to predict any attack and its actors. In this paper, we shall be discussing enhancing the accuracy of anomalous behavior detection techniques for efficient threat intelligence and revamping deception using a unique machine learning model training technique termed "Seeded Transfer Learning", in this technique data is reshaped into knowledge to fit to the target domain in small capsules of information in real-time or near real-time. In this method we shall be using seeds of data or real-time small data sequences to train machine learning models along with that sustaining on the ideology of positive transfer learning techniques where previous learning will be made more effective by taking advantage of a new training set. Comprehensive experiments are done on ANN-(Artificial Neural Network) and result revels best incremental performance from ~91% to ~97%. Experiment summarized that while training model on data seeds we have achieved great accuracy with limited computing resources and time, additionally model is trained on latest attack dataset which helped in identifying attacks effectively which in turns translates to effective defense against future unknow attacks.
