The modal parameters of a scale-modeled discus-shaped data buoy in heave and pitch are estimated from the experimentally measured impulse response time histories. The use of phase-time, time-frequency domains for derivation of natural frequencies and damping are demonstrated in this paper. The phase-time method is based on the Hilbert transformation, whereas, the time-frequency method is based on the continuous wavelet transformation (CWT) of the measured time histories. In addition, the conventional time and frequency domain method of modal parameter estimation is also adopted for the comparison of results. The details of the model, test procedure, analysis and results are presented in this paper. The modal parameters obtained through CWT are found to be accurate compared to that obtained from the time and frequency domain analysis. � 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Aiming at the problems of high-power consumption and insufficient kneading and cutting of roughage in the total mixed ration mixer. In this paper, licorice stems were taken as experimental objects, the horizontal twin-shaft TMR mixer was used to carry out the experimental study. It should be as brief as possible and concise. Through the kneading and cutting process power analysis, determine the influencing factors of kneading and cutting power consumption. The auger speed, processing time and blade type were taken as experimental factors, with standard straw length rate and power consumption as indicators, Box–Behnken test with three factors and three levels was carried out, analysis of variance was performed on the test results, the results show that the significant effect of each factor on the standard grass length is processing time, blade type and auger speed in descending order. The significance of the influence on power consumption from large to small is auger speed, processing time and blade type. The response surface analysis and parameter optimization were carried out, the results show that the auger speed is 20 r/min, the processing time is 29 min, and the blade type is quincunx blade. At this time, the standard straw length was 82.634%; Power consumption 4525.815 kJ, TMR mixer performance reached the best. The results can provide a theoretical basis for the subsequent research and development of TMR mixer.

The paper deals with issues of modeling nonlinear electrical loads of various types, such an uncontrolled rectifier, thyristor rectifier, thyristor power regulator and mixed equivalent nonlinear load. For these load types, existing analytical expressions were identified to determine the magnitudes of harmonic currents, and waveforms of currents were obtained during measurements in laboratory conditions with variable parameters of the grid impedance and load. The obtained results were compared, and it was found that the error in determining the magnitudes of harmonic currents can reach 60% for an individual load and 54% for an equivalent load. A more accurate method for determining the parameters of nonlinear electrical load is also proposed, which is based on the application of shunt harmonic filters. In laboratory conditions, it was found that when using the developed method, the error did not exceed 10% for an individual load and 14% for an equivalent load.

International audience; Data assimilation involving imperfect dynamical models is an important topic in meteorology, oceanography and other geophysical applications. In filtering methods, the model error is compensated for by inflation. In variational data assimilation, authors usually try to estimate it, which means that all uncertainty-loaded model inputs are included into the control vector. However, this approach suffers from implementation difficulties. In this paper we suggest an alternative method, motivated by the 'nuisance parameter' concept known in statistics. This method allows the model error to be treated implicitly by inflating the observation-error covariance. The equivalency theorem substantiating the method has here been proved. We also consider a case with a biased model error. In the corresponding mixed formulation, the spatially distributed mean error is included into the control vector, whereas the time-dependent fluctuations around the mean are subjected to the proposed implicit treatment. Numerical experiments for the 1D generalized Burgers' equation illustrate the presented theory. In these experiments the model error related to uncertainty in the advection coefficient has been considered.
