The article reports on the development of science in Germany. Several scientific initiatives in the country has shown its commitment in integrating its academic traditions with international standards of research. Almost a quarter of a million foreign students were enrolled in the higher-education system of the country in 2006. In addition, German researchers surpassed Great Britain in the total number of research papers published and citations.
