This article is a tribute to the late Professor V.I. Tatarskii, a renowned physicist and pioneer in the theory and application of waves in random media. His influential monographs from the 1950s and 1960s continue to be the foundation for research in this field. His methods and contributions have been widely used in various disciplines such as acoustics, optics, electromagnetics, seismology, astronomy, radiology, and ionosphere. The special issue includes papers on topics such as communication problems, turbulence models, experimental aspects of turbulence, remote sensing, acoustic wave propagation, scattering, beam propagation, radiative transfer, nanofluid MHD flow, rough surface scattering, complex target modeling, and remote sensing. The authors express their gratitude to those who contributed to this issue and hope that it will inspire future research in wave propagation and scattering in random media.
