The article highlights the Glass & Optical Materials Division's Spring Meeting on May 16-19, 2006. The event paid tribute to the work of the session organizers who brought in 28 outstanding invited speakers and solicited interesting papers for 21 sessions. The three main symposia are characterization, composition and processing. It also inaugurated S. Donald Stookey Lecture of Discovery Award.
Information about several papers discussed at the Glass Problems Conference held in November 2008 in Columbus, Ohio is presented. Topics include Climate change considerations, contribution of glass in the climate change relief, and resilience. The conference featured speakers from the glass manufacturing industry.
