Abstract

The article reports that the Engineering Ceramics Division presented Best Paper and Best Poster awards at its 30th International Conference on Advanced Ceramics & Composites at Cocoa Beach, Florida. The first Best Paper is entitled "Shape-Preserving Chemical Conservation of Self-Assembled 3-D Bioclastic Micro/Nanostructures via Low-Temperature Displacement Reactions." And the Best Poster is "The Bonded Compliant Seal: A New Sealing Concept for Use in Planar Solid Oxide Fuel Cells."

Abstract

Information about several papers discussed at symposium held March 24-25, 2010 sponsored by American Ceramic Society (ACerS) St. Louis Section and Refractory Ceramics Division on innovative material for energy efficiency is presented. Topics include refractory lining design in fired units and difficulties of end users. It featured several ceramic engineers including Steve Chermack, John Hellmann, and Orville Hunter.
