Being able to decompose the gender pay gap (GPG) and determine the contribution of each component is important to design appropriate policies to reduce it. With the aim of providing a new tool to achieve this, in this paper, we propose a decomposition approach based on a machine learning model. The tool was implemented on a population of 5 742 Argentinean IT-related workers to obtain the value of the adjusted and unadjusted GPG in a four-phase process: sample characterization, development of a wage predictor, calculation of adjusted GPG, and analysis of the explained component of GPG. According to our analysis, there is a GPG of 20%, 7,7% of which can be explained exclusively by direct discrimination while 12,3% can be ascribed to other factors, such as total years of experience, educational level, and number of people in charge. The pandemic makes way to a whole range of communitarian projects, and to deal with the crisis. We highlight those fostered by feminist organizations, i.e. actions motivated exclusively by women, who propose to be mutually supportive to tackle multidimensional vulnerability increased by the pandemic. Thus, this paper explores three communitarian actions led by feminists in three Chilean cities from the center-south zone (Rancagua, Talca and Chillán), in order to learn and understand their arrangements to deal with the most urgent needs during the pandemic. This exploration was developed through online interviews with some leaders of the three initiatives. Among the main findings, we found a strong conviction for politicizing the intimate sphere, constructing a network of solidarity deemed safe for women, which allows them to stick together against any adversity. Strictly speaking, Bourdieu did not develop specific works on emotions and affects. However, as we expect to show, the emotional dimension is an integral part of his perspective and a gateway to his reflections on power. With this premise, the objective of this paper is to analyze Bourdieu's perspective on symbolic power, based on the notion of illusio. Can illusio be understood as a mechanism of power and symbolic domination involving forms of emotional expression? Based on the analysis carried out, we support an affirmative answer to this question, assuming illusio as a principle of perception, emotional investment, adhesion and belief, by means of which the agents affectively commit themselves to the asymmetric logic of the fields in which they participate, moved by aspirational mechanisms from which they end up indirectly legitimizing the social order. The aim of this paper is twofold. First, to critically review the main strategies for addressing multiple inequalities; and second, to identify the key points for mainstreaming the intersectional framework in gender equality policies. The methodology is based on a literature review of the state of the art and the examination of different equality and no-discrimination plans and programs in the European and Latin American contexts. The results show the characteristics of the main policy strategies to address multiple inequalities (unitary expanded, multiple and intersectional) as well as their possibilities and limitations. They also show the relevance to incorporate the intersectional approach in all the phases of the policy cycle (problematization, diagnosis, design, procedures, and evaluation). In conclusion, the intersectional approach allows accessing groups and issues located at the crossroads of inequalities, increasing the efficiency, equity and inclusiveness of equality policies by accessing issues that are usually ignored and underestimated behind unitary categories. This article analyzes the topic of identifications in Ernesto Laclau's theory of hegemony, focusing on the crosses between the leader and the function of Lacan's object a. Based on a reading of On populist reason, the paper proposes an innovative typology with three modes of social identification for discourse analysis: direct identification with the political leader; indirect identification around the leader mediated through a partial object that becomes an empty signifier and function by a nodal point; and the identification with certain values, principles, demands or shared ideals by the group or organization that function as objects cause of desire. In the second part, it deploys some useful theoretical-methodological tools to deepen and strengthen the social investigation of contemporary sociopolitical identities and processes from the political theory of discourse. This paper analyzes the relationship between everyday life and the mass use of mobile communication technologies, especially smartphones. From a methodological point of view, qualitative research was used in order to grasp the meanings people give to the use of such technologies. Data were gathered through 24 focus groups and 20 in-depth interviews with youths aged between 16 and 25 years of age in Santiago de Chile between 2014 and 2015. Results show that the people’s uses of mobile communication systems would be creating changes in the daily experience of time and space, and in the way in which they give stability, structure and meaning to the intersubjective world. The article concludes that the concept of ubiquitous everyday life, or hyper everyday life, may explain the meaning of the current transformations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Kabeer’s simple and illustrative definition of empowerment is “the expansion in people’s ability to make strategic life choices in a context where this ability was previously denied to them” (Kabeer, 1999: 437). Women’s empowerment, then, is conceptualized as an increase in agency over time. Little is it known about the importance of the effect of ‘self directed motivations and desires’ and autonomy on women’s agency. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationships among women’s autonomy and labor force participation along with their effects on women’s agency in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. For this, we use the structural equation modeling approach. Our results reveal that women’s autonomy and participation in the labor market positively influence their agency levels.
