The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent transmission among communities has made the entire human population extremely vulnerable. Due to the virus's contagiousness, the most powerful economies in the world are struggling with the inadequacies of resources. As the number of cases continues to rise and the healthcare industry is overwhelmed with the increasing needs of the infected population, there is a requirement to estimate the potential future number of cases using prediction methods. This paper leverages data-driven estimation methods such as linear regression (LR), random forest (RF), and XGBoost (extreme gradient boosting) algorithm. All three algorithms are trained using the COVID-19 data of Pakistan from 24 February to 31 December 2020, wherein the daily resolution is integrated. Essentially, this paper postulates that, with the help of values of new positive cases, medical swabs, daily death, and daily new positive cases, it is possible to predict the progression of the COVID-19 pandemic and demonstrate future trends. Linear regression tends to oversimplify concepts in supervised learning and neglect practical challenges present in the real world, often cited as its primary disadvantage. In this paper, we use an enhanced random forest algorithm. It is a supervised learning algorithm that is used for classification. This algorithm works well for an extensive range of data items, and also it is very flexible and possesses very high accuracy. For higher accuracy, we have also implemented the XGBoost algorithm on the dataset. XGBoost is a newly introduced machine learning algorithm; this algorithm provides high accuracy of prediction models, and it is observed that it performs well in short-term prediction. This paper discusses various factors such as total COVID-19 cases, new cases per day, total COVID-19 related deaths, new deaths due to the COVID-19, the total number of recoveries, number of daily recoveries, and swabs through the proposed technique. COVID-19 continues to pose a dangerous global health threat, as cases grow rapidly and deaths increase day by day. This increasing phenomenon does not only affect economic policy but also international policy around the world. In this paper, Pakistan daily death cases of COVID-19, from February 25, 2020, to March 23, 2022, have been modeled using the long-established autoregressive-integrated moving average (ARIMA) model and the machine learning multilayer perceptron (MLP) model. The most befitting model is selected based on the root mean square error (RMSE), mean square error (MSE), and mean absolute error (MAE). Values of the key performance indicator (KPI) showed that the MLP model outperformed the ARIMA model. The MLP model with 20 hidden layers, which emerged as the overall most apt model, was used to predict future daily COVID-19 deaths in Pakistan to enable policymakers and health professionals to put in place systematic measures to reduce death cases. The COVID-19 pandemic has shocked nations due to its exponential death rates in various countries. According to the United Nations (UN), in Russia, there were 895, in Mexico 303, in Indonesia 77, in Ukraine 317, and in Romania 252, and in Pakistan, 54 new deaths were recorded on the 5th of October 2021 in the period of months. Hence, it is essential to study the future waves of this virus so that some preventive measures can be adopted. In statistics, under uncertainty, there is a possibility to use probability models that leads to defining future pattern of deaths caused by COVID-19. Based on probability models, many research studies have been conducted to model the future trend of a particular disease and explore the effect of possible treatments (as in the case of coronavirus, the effect of Pfizer, Sinopharm, CanSino, Sinovac, and Sputnik) towards a specific disease. In this paper, varieties of probability models have been applied to model the COVID-19 death rate more effectively than the other models. Among others, exponentiated flexible exponential Weibull (EFEW) distribution is pointed out as the best fitted model. Various statistical properties have been presented in addition to real-life applications by using the total deaths of the COVID-19 outbreak (in millions) in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Infectious diseases like COVID-19 spread rapidly and have led to substantial economic loss worldwide, including in Pakistan. The effect of weather on COVID-19 spreading needs more detailed examination, as some studies have claimed to mitigate its spread. COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by WHO and has been reported in about 210 countries worldwide, including Asia, Europe, the USA, and North America. Person-to-person contact and international air travel between the nations were the leading causes behind the spreading of SARS-CoV-2 from its point of origin, besides the natural forces. However, further spread and infection within the community or country can be aided by natural elements, such as the weather. Therefore, the correlation between COVID-19 and temperature can be better elucidated in countries like Pakistan, where SARS-CoV-2 has affected at least 0.37 million people. This study collected Pakistan's COVID-19 infection and mortality data for ten months (March–December 2020). Related weather parameters, temperature, and humidity were also obtained for the same course of time. The collected data were processed and used to compare the performance of various time series prediction models in terms of mean squared error (MSE), root-mean-squared error (RMSE), and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). This paper, using the time series model, estimates the effect of humidity, temperature, and other weather parameters on COVID-19 transmission by obtaining the correlation among the total infected cases and the number of deaths and weather variables in a particular region. Results depict that weather parameters hold more influence in evaluating the sum number of cases and deaths than other factors like community, age, and the total population. Therefore, temperature and humidity are salient parameters for predicting COVID-19 affected instances. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic continues to destroy human life around the world. Almost every country throughout the globe suffered from this pandemic, forcing various governments to apply different restrictions to reduce its impact. In this study, we compare different time-series models with the neural network autoregressive model (NNAR). The study used COVID-19 data in Pakistan from February 26, 2020, to February 18, 2022, as a training and testing data set for modeling. Different models were applied and estimated on the training data set, and these models were assessed on the testing data set. Based on the mean absolute scaled error (MAE) and root mean square error (RMSE) for the training and testing data sets, the NNAR model outperformed the autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model and other competing models indicating that the NNAR model is the most appropriate for forecasting. Forecasts from the NNAR model showed that the cumulative confirmed COVID-19 cases will be 1,597,180 and cumulative confirmed COVID-19 deaths will be 32,628 on April 18, 2022. This study aims to examine how the relationship between intellectual capital (IC) and bank profitability changed during COVID-19. Based on the data of 34 Chinese banks and 39 Pakistani banks, this study uses ordinary least squares (OLS) to examine this relationship during the COVID-19 era. Profitability is measured by return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE), and IC is measured by the value added intellectual coefficient (VAIC) model. The findings show that, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, IC has managed to sustain its positive influence on bank profitability in China and Pakistan. Among IC components, our study reports that human capital is the only IC resource that continues to enhance ROA and ROE of Chinese and Pakistani banks during the pandemic period. Our study suggests that policymakers should pay more attention to IC resources, which has the potential to improve banks' profitability even during crisis times. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During the outbreak of an epidemic, it is of immense interest to monitor the effects of containment measures and forecast of outbreak including epidemic peak. To confront the epidemic, a simple SIR model is used to simulate the number of affected patients of coronavirus disease in Romania and Pakistan. The model captures the growth in case onsets, and the estimated results are almost compatible with the actual reported cases. Through the calibration of parameters, forecast for the appearance of new cases in Romania and Pakistan is reported till the end of this year by analysing the current situation. The constant level of number of patients and time to reach this level is also reported through the simulations.
