I will briefly discuss the history of research-related projects that Mark Burgin and I worked on together. I will then discuss our joint research related to the circle of sense and nonsense. One paper was entitled In a search for deeper meanings: navigating the circle of Sense and Nonsense and in turn articulating logical varieties as knowledge illuminators and the second was entitled In the Circle of Sense and Nonsense, Including A Mathematic Model of Meaning. This research represents a bridge between the media arts and sciences (my artwork) as a means of embodying ideas exploring a particular approach to meaning production and related computation, as well as Burgin's concepts related to logical varieties and mathematical models of meaning. I will refer to the full papers and links because they present a very robust and full articulation of the concepts discussed here. The issues of the evaluation and prediction of the reliability and testability of mining machinery and equipment are becoming particularly relevant, since the safety of technological processes and human life is reaching a new level of realisation due to changes in mining technology. The work is devoted to the development of a logical model for analysing the controllability of mining equipment. The paper presents a model of reliability of the operation of mining equipment on the example of a mine load and passenger hoist. This generalised model is made in the form of a graph of transitions and supplemented with a system of equations. The model allows for the estimation of the reliability of equipment elements and equipment as a whole. A mathematical and logical model for the calculation of the availability and downtime coefficients of various designs of mining equipment systems is proposed. This model became the basis for the methods to calculate the optimal values of diagnostic depth. At these calculated values, the maximum value of availability factor will be obtained. In this paper, an analytical study was carried out and dependences of the readiness factor of parameters of the investigated system such as the intensity of control of technical systems, intensity of failures, etc., were constructed. The paper proposes a mathematical model to assess the reliability of mine hoisting plants through its integration into the method of improving the reliability of mine hoisting plants. Active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is widely used in airborne optoelectronic stabilization platforms due to its minimal reliance on the mathematical model of the controlled object. The extended state observer (ESO) is the core of ADRC, which treats internal parameter variations and external disturbances as total disturbances, observes the disturbances as extended states, and then compensates them into the control loop to eliminate their effects. However, the ESO can only achieve a precise estimation of constant or slowly varying disturbances. When the disturbance is periodically changing, satisfactory results cannot be obtained. In this paper, a generalized high-order extended state observer (GHOESO) is proposed to achieve the precise estimation of known frequency sinusoidal disturbance signals and improve disturbance suppression levels. Through numerical simulations, a traditional ESO and GHOESO are compared in terms of disturbance observation capability and disturbance suppression ability for single and compound disturbances based on our prior knowledge of disturbance frequency. The effectiveness of the proposed GHOESO method is verified. Finally, the algorithm is applied to an airborne optoelectronic stabilization platform for a 1°/1 Hz swing experiment on a space hexapod swing table. This paper undertakes a revisit of the sunk cost fallacy, which refers to the tendency of people to persist investing resources into something, even if it is destined to have no good outcome. We emphasize that the utilities associated with different alternatives are not static for decision makers, which is exactly opposite to the traditional perspective. This paper argues that the utility of an option may change due to the choice of another option, suggesting that decisions considered irrational by the traditional analytical method, i.e., sunk cost fallacy, may be rational. We propose a novel analytical method for decision making with sunk cost when considering the utility change and validate the effectiveness of this method through mathematical modeling and computational experiments. This paper mathematically describes such decision-making problems, analyzing the impact of changes in the utilities across different alternatives on decision making with a real-world example. Furthermore, we develop a two-stage stochastic optimization model for such decision-making problems and employ the sample average approximation (SAA) method to solve them. The results from computational experiments indicate that some decisions traditionally considered irrational are, in fact, rational when the utility of an option changes as a result of choosing another option. This paper, therefore, highlights the significance of incorporating utility changes into the decision-making process and stands as a valuable addition to the literature, offering a refreshed and effective decision-making method for improved decision making. This paper presents a centralized disturbance suppression strategy for distributed drive electric vehicles which is based on model predictive direct motion control. This strategy is capable of addressing issues such as parameter uncertainties and external disturbances in vehicles. Firstly, the paper provides a brief introduction to model predictive direct motion control. Secondly, it analyzes the impact of vehicle parameter uncertainties and external disturbances on the mathematical model. Finally, a centralized disturbance suppression strategy based on a sliding mode observer is proposed. Variable (feature) selection plays an important role in data analysis and mathematical modeling. This paper aims to address the significant lack of formal evaluation benchmarks for feature selection algorithms (FSAs). To evaluate FSAs effectively, controlled environments are required, and the use of synthetic datasets offers significant advantages. We introduce a set of ten synthetically generated datasets with known relevance, redundancy, and irrelevance of features, derived from various mathematical, logical, and geometric sources. Additionally, eight FSAs are evaluated on these datasets based on their relevance and novelty. The paper first introduces the datasets and then provides a comprehensive experimental analysis of the performance of the selected FSAs on these datasets including testing the FSAs' resilience on two types of induced data noise. The analysis has guided the grouping of the generated datasets into four groups of data complexity. Lastly, we provide public access to the generated datasets to facilitate bench-marking of new feature selection algorithms in the field via our Github repository. This paper proposes a modeling and analysis method for a Caputo–Fabrizio (C-F) definition-based fractional-order Boost converter with fractional-order inductive loads. The proposed method analyzes the system characteristics of a fractional-order circuit with three state variables. Firstly, this paper constructs a large signal model of a fractional-order Boost converter by taking advantage of the state space averaging method, providing accurate analytical solutions for the quiescent operating point and the ripple parameters of the circuit with three state variables. Secondly, this paper constructs a small signal model of the C-F definition-based fractional-order Boost converter by small signal linearization, providing the transfer function of the fractional-order system with three state variables. Finally, this paper conducts circuit-oriented simulation experiments where the steady-state parameters and the transfer function of the circuit are obtained, and then the effect of the order of capacitor, induced inductor, and load inductor on the quiescent operating point and ripple parameters is analyzed. The experimental results show that the simulation results are consistent with those obtained by the proposed mathematical model and that the three fractional orders in the fractional model with three state variables have a significant impact on the DC component and steady-state characteristics of the fractional-order Boost converter. In conclusion, the proposed mathematical model can more comprehensively analyze the system characteristics of the C-F definition-based fractional-order Boost converter with fractional-order inductive loads, benefiting the circuit design of Boost converters. Truck hoisting detection constitutes a key focus in port security, for which no optimal resolution has been identified. To address the issues of high costs, susceptibility to weather conditions, and low accuracy in conventional methods for truck hoisting detection, a non-intrusive detection approach is proposed in this paper. The proposed approach utilizes a mathematical model and an extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) model. Electrical signals, including voltage and current, collected by Hall sensors are processed by the mathematical model, which augments their physical information. Subsequently, the dataset filtered by the mathematical model is used to train the XGBoost model, enabling the XGBoost model to effectively identify abnormal hoists. Improvements were observed in the performance of the XGBoost model as utilized in this paper. Finally, experiments were conducted at several stations. The overall false positive rate did not exceed 0.7% and no false negatives occurred in the experiments. The experimental results demonstrated the excellent performance of the proposed approach, which can reduce the costs and improve the accuracy of detection in container hoisting. The reconfiguration problem (DPSR) in electrical distribution systems is a critical area of research, aimed at optimizing the operational efficiency of these networks. Historically, this problem has been approached through a variety of optimization methods. Regarding mathematical models, a key challenge identified in these models is the formulation of equations that ensure the radial operation of the system, along with the nonlinear equations representing Kirchhoff's laws, the last often necessitating complex relaxations for practical application. This paper introduces an alternative representation of system radiality, which potentially surpasses or matches the existing methods in the literature. Our approach utilizes a more intuitive and compact set of equations, simplifying the representation process. Additionally, we propose a linearization of the current calculation in the power flow model typically used to solve DPSR. This linearization significantly accelerates the process of obtaining feasible solutions and optimal reconfiguration profiles. To validate our approach, we conducted rigorous computational comparisons with the results reported in the existing literature, using a variety of test cases to ensure robustness. Our computational results demonstrate a considerable improvement in computational time. The objective functions used are competitive and, in many instances, outperform the best reported results in the literature. In some cases, our method even identifies superior solutions. Load-capacity has always been one of the performances that is paid much attention to in the development of bevel gear transmission applications. Consequently, the mathematical model of novel bevel gear with high load-capacity based on geometric elements is proposed in this paper, which could be applied to the aviation, aerospace and other fields. In parallel, the design principle and design method of the novel bevel gear are introduced in detail. Subsequently, the conditions for tooth surface continuity and non-interference are derived. Furthermore, the model of novel bevel gear is established. Finally, the load-bearing characteristics are analyzed, revealing that an increase in the number of contact points could significantly enhance the load capacity of the bevel gear pairs. When the load torque applied to bevel gear II is 100 Nm, the contact pressure endured by the bevel gear pair with five-point contact is decreased by 41.37% compared to the bevel gear pair with single-point contact. When the number of contact points is the same, increasing the distance between the contact points could also reduce the contact stress. This paper addresses the issue of LED short-circuit fault detection in signaling and lighting systems in the automotive industry. The conventional diagnostic method commonly implemented in newer vehicles relies on measuring the voltage drop across different LED branches and comparing it with threshold values indicating faults caused by open circuits or LED short circuits. With this algorithm, detecting cases of a few LEDs short-circuited within a branch, particularly a single malfunctioning LED, is particularly challenging. In this work, two easily implementable algorithms are proposed to address this issue within the vehicle's control unit. One is based on a mathematical prediction model, while the other utilizes a neural network. The results obtained offer a 100% LED short-circuit fault detection rate in the majority of analyzed cases, representing a significant improvement over the conventional method, even in scenarios involving a single malfunctioning LED within a branch. The three-phase imbalance in low-voltage distribution networks (LVDNs) seriously threatens the security and stability of the power system. At present, a standard solution is automatic phase commutation, but this method has limitations because it does not address the branch imbalance and premature convergence or instability of the commutation algorithm. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel refined regulation commutation system, combined with a modified optimized commutation algorithm, and designs a model and simulation for feasibility verification. The refined regulatory model incorporates branch control units into the traditional commutation system. This effectively disperses the main controller's functions to each branch and collaborates with intelligent fusion terminals for precise adjustment. The commutation algorithm designed in this paper, combined with the above model, adopts strategies such as symbol encoding, cubic chaotic mapping, and adaptive adjustment based on traditional genetic algorithms. In addition, in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, this paper establishes a mathematical model with the minimum three-phase imbalance and commutation frequency as objectives and establishes a simulation model. The results of the simulation demonstrate that this method can successfully lower the three-phase imbalance of the low-voltage distribution network. It leads to a decrease of the main circuit's three-phase load imbalance rate from 27% to 6% and reduces each branch line's three-phase imbalance ratio to below 10%. After applying the method proposed in this paper, the main and branches circuit three-phase imbalance are both lower than the limit ratio of the LVDNs, which can improve the quality and safety of electricity consumption. Additionally, the results also prove that the commutation algorithm under this method has faster convergence speed, better application effect, and better stability, which has promotion and application value. Fuzzy logic is becoming one of the most-influential fields of modern mathematics with applications that impact not only other sciences, but society in general. This newly found interest in fuzzy logic is in part due to the crucial role it plays in the development of artificial intelligence. As a result, new tools and practices for the development of the above-mentioned field are in high demand. This is one of the issues this paper was composed to address. To be more specific, a sizable part of fuzzy logic is the study of fuzzy connectives. However, the current method used to generalize them is restricted to the use of basic automorphisms, which hinders the creation of new fuzzy connectives. For this reason, in this paper, a new method of generalization is conceived of that aims to generalize the fuzzy connectives using polynomial automorphism functions instead. The creation of these automorphisms is achieved through numerical analysis, an endeavor that is supported with programming applications that, using mathematical modeling, validate and visualize the research. Furthermore, the automorphisms satisfy all the necessary criteria that have been established for use in the generalization process and, consequently, are used to successfully generalize fuzzy connectives. Many optimization mathematical models, associated with the technical-economic processes of real-world problems, have elements of uncertainty in their structure, which places them in stochastic optimization programming. Their diversity and complexity, due to the large uncertainty space, require special methods of solving, because there is no general solution method. Within this context, in this paper we consider the category of optimization models that can contain random variable type coefficients and/or imposed probability levels on the constraints. The purpose of the paper is to propose a methodology dedicated to these studied models. Applying the methodology leads to developing a deterministic linear programming model, associated with the initial stochastic model. In fact, the proposed methodology reduces the stochastic formulation to a deterministic formulation. The methodology is illustrated with a numerical case study based on a manufacturing problem. Solving the obtained deterministic model is carried out in the version assisted by a specialized software product (WinQSB Version 2.0). It allows for the performing of a sensitivity analysis of the optimal solution, and/or a parametric analysis relative to certain model coefficients, both also presented in the paper. The main result of the study in this paper is the proposed methodology, which is applicable on a large scale, for any mathematical model of stochastic optimization of the mentioned type, regardless of complexity, dimensions and the domain of the process to which it is associated. The numerical results obtained when applying this methodology indicate its efficiency and effectiveness in finding the solution for the studied models. The approach to this issue in the present paper is determined by the wide range of stochastic optimization problems in the various studied real-life processes and by the imperative need to adopt the best decisions in conditions of uncertainty. The principal economic sector devoted to the breeding, raising, and production of farm animals is known as the livestock industry. There are precise standards for making high-quality feed in animal husbandry. Precision livestock feeding is a crucial component, with the potential to significantly impact the profitability of livestock; it permits the provision of diets to animals that are precisely tailored to their specific daily nutritional needs. Through simulation modeling, a single model can be created for automated systems to determine daily rations for farm animals. For the purposes of this document, precision livestock feeding refers to the practice of tailoring feed to individual animals or groups of animals, taking into account their changing nutritional needs over time and individual differences in terms of nutritional requirements. The practice aims to optimize animal health and performance while reducing feed waste. This paper presents a formal model for determining the quantities of components needed to achieve a minimum cost mixture that satisfies compositional and quantitative criteria. The present research calculates the amount of hay and silage required to feed an animal per day at the most economical cost by applying an optimization approach that involves defining and solving an optimization problem. The problem is solved using a well-known software package, which is necessary for the practical application of the resulting model. This paper presents an adaptive dynamic surface sliding mode control technique to address the issue of system parameter changes in permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) position servo systems. The proposed method involves adopting a linear parameter varying (LPV) observer-based parameter identification algorithm and adaptive control technique. Initially, a mathematical model of the PMSM is established, and the system parameters are divided into nominal and perturbation values. This allows for the reconstruction of the system model into a state space equation that incorporates the unknown perturbation parameters. To accurately estimate these unknown parameters, an LPV observer is designed based on the reconstructed model. Additionally, an adaptive dynamic surface sliding mode control technique is explored to achieve the desired tracking performance. Meanwhile, an exponential reaching law is introduced to expedite the dynamic behavior of the system and mitigate chattering. Finally, a suitable Lyapunov function is selected to ensure the overall stability of the system. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the parameter identification and control algorithm in achieving good identification and tracking control ability for PMSM systems. In the realm of cementitious materials, integrating nanoclay shows promise in enhancing properties relevant to additive manufacturing. This paper presents a novel mathematical model that combines simple empirical dissolution/nucleation Avrami-like kinetics with a thixotropic kinetics equation. To analyze the initial exothermic peak, two sets of the calculation parameter function are built to describe the exothermic rate as a function of time, following an exponential pattern. This allows for the prediction of the changes in cumulative heat and heat rate during hydration, considering different concentrations of nanoclay. In the rheological aspect, the relationship between shear stress, shear rate, and time is modeled as a combination of exponential dependencies. This enables the prediction of the variations in shear stress with one variable while holding the other constant (either time or shear rate). By integrating these aspects, this model effectively describes both the first exothermal peak and the rheological behavior during cement hydration with the inclusion of nanoclay. Validated against experimental results, these models demonstrate good accuracy (overall below 3% error), reliability, and applicability. The findings offer valuable insights into the thermal and rheological aspects of concrete printing, enabling informed design decisions for both scientific and industrial applications. This paper studies a nonlinear fractional mathematical model for hand, foot, and mouth Disease (HFMD), incorporating a vaccinated compartment. Our initial focus involves establishing the non-negativity and boundedness of the fractional order dynamical model. The existence and uniqueness of the system are discussed using the Caputo derivative operator formulation. Applying a fixed-point approach, we obtain results that confirm the presence of at least one solution. We analyze the stability behavior at the two equilibrium points (disease-free and endemic states) of the model and derive the basic reproduction number. Numerical simulations are conducted using the fractional Euler approach, and the simulation results confirm our analytical conclusions. Fractional calculus provides some fractional operators for us to model different real-world phenomena mathematically. One of these important study fields is the mathematical model of the elastic beam changes. More precisely, in this paper, based on the behavior patterns of an elastic beam, we consider the generalized sequential boundary value problems of the Navier difference equations by using the post-quantum fractional derivatives of the Caputo-like type. We discuss on the existence theory for solutions of the mentioned (p ; q) -difference Navier problems in two single-valued and set-valued versions. We use the main properties of the (p ; q) -operators in this regard. Application of the fixed points of the ρ - θ -contractions along with the endpoints of the multi-valued functions play a fundamental role to prove the existence results. Finally in two examples, we validate our models and theoretical results by giving numerical models of the generalized sequential (p ; q) -difference Navier problems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper is devoted to the research of the isomorphic multidimensional cyclic structure and multidimensional phase structure of the cyclic random process (CRP) and to its formation method, which enables a rigorous formalization of intuitive ideas concerning cyclic stochastic motion. The fundamental properties of the cyclic random process and analytical dependencies between the multidimensional cyclic structure, multidimensional phase structure and rhythm structure of the CRP have been established. This work shows that the CRP is able to take into account the cyclicity of multidimensional distribution functions of cyclic signals as well as the variability in the rhythm of the investigated signals. A subclass of the CRP is the periodic random process, which allows for the use of classical processing methods of cyclic signals with a regular rhythm. Based on a series of experiments, significant advantages of the CRP as a mathematical model of electrocardiographic signals (ECG) compared to the periodic random process are shown. In this paper, we improved a mathematical model of monkeypox disease with a time delay to a crossover model by incorporating variable-order and fractional differential equations, along with stochastic fractional derivatives, in three different time intervals. The stability and positivity of the solutions for the proposed model are discussed. Two numerical methods are constructed to study the behavior of the proposed models. These methods are the nonstandard modified Euler Maruyama technique and the nonstandard Caputo proportional constant Adams-Bashfourth fifth step method. Many numerical experiments were conducted to verify the efficiency of the methods and support the theoretical results. Back pain is regularly associated with biomechanical changes in the spine. The traditional methods to assess spine biomechanics use ionising radiation. Vertebral Metrics (VM) is a non-invasive instrument developed by the authors in previous research that assesses the spinous processes' position. However, the spine model used by VM is not accurate. To overcome it, the present paper proposes a pioneering and simple articulated model of the spine built through the data collected by VM. The model is based on the spring–mass system and uses the Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm to find the arrangement of vertebral bodies. It represents the spine as rigid geometric transformations from one vertebra to the other when the extremity vertebrae are stationary. The validation process used the Bland–Altman method to compare the Cobb and the intervertebral angles computed by the model with the radiographic exams of eight patients diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis. The results suggest that the model is valid; however, previous clinical information would improve outcomes by customising the lower and upper vertebrae positions, since the study revealed that the C6 rotation slightly influences the computed angles. A critical function of polymeric matrices in biological systems is to exert selective control over the transport of thousands of nanoparticulate species. Utilizing "third-party" molecular anchors to crosslink nanoparticulates to the matrix is an effective strategy, and a trapped nanoparticulate formed a desired complex MAP that is necessary to keep the nanoparticulate immobilized at any given time. In this paper, the global solution and stability of a parabolic–ordinary-parabolic haptotaxis system to complex MAP are studied. First, the existence of a local classical solution to system (4) has been observed using fixed point argument and parabolic Schauder estimates. Furthermore, some a priori estimates that can raise the regularity estimate of the solution for the relatively complicated first equation of system (3) from L ρ to L 2 ρ ( ρ ≥ 1 ) are given; then, the local classic solution can thus extend to the global classic solution when the space dimension N ≤ 3 . Lastly, by using various analytical methods, a threshold value ξ 00 (ξ 00 < 0) is found, such that positive constant steady state (u ∗ , v ∗ , w ∗) becomes unstable when ξ < ξ 00 . Our results show that the haptotaxis plays a crucial role in determining the stability to the model (3), that is, it can have a destabilizing effect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Symmetry is an important principle and characteristic that is prevalent in nature and artificial environments. In the three-dimensional packing problem, leveraging the inherent symmetry of goods and the symmetry of the packing space can enhance packing efficiency and utilization.The three-dimensional packing problem is an NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem in the field of modern logistics, with high computational complexity. This paper proposes an improved genetic algorithm by incorporating a fusion tabu search strategy to address this problem. The algorithm employs a three-dimensional loading mathematical model and utilizes a wall-building method under residual space constraints for stacking goods. Furthermore, adaptation of fitness variation strategy, chromosome adjustment, and tabu search algorithm are introduced to balance the algorithm's global and local search capabilities, as well as to enhance population diversity and convergence speed. Through testing on benchmark cases such as Bischoff and Ratcliff, the improved algorithm demonstrates an average increase of over 3% in packing space utilization compared to traditional genetic algorithms and other heuristic algorithms, validating its feasibility and effectiveness. The coupling relationship between the deformation field, the diffusion field, and the seepage field is an important factor in fluid transport mechanisms in the long-term coalbed methane (CBM) exploitation process. A mathematical model of gas–water two-phase fluid–structure coupling in a double-porosity medium in coal reservoirs is established in this paper. Taking Hancheng Block, a typical production block in Qinshui Basin, as the geological background critical desorption pressure, reservoir permeability anisotropy is considered in the model. COMSOL Multiphysics (COMSOL_6.0) was used to create the model. The accuracy and rationality of the model were verified by comparing field production data with the results of the simulation. Using the simulation, the influence law of various reservoir geological characteristics parameters (Langmuir strain constant, ratio of critical desorption pressure to reservoir pressure of coal seam (CDPRP), elastic modulus, initial water saturation, Langmuir pressure, etc.) on CBM productivity, reservoir pressure, and permeability ratio was discussed, and a thorough analysis of the factors affecting productivity was obtained using the orthogonal test method. The findings of this study indicate that the change in permeability is the result of the superposition effect of many factors. Different stages of drainage have different primary regulating factors. Rock skeleton stress has a consequence on coal matrix permeability in the early drainage stage, and coal matrix shrinkage is primarily impacted in the later drainage stage. Besides the initial water saturation, other reservoir geological parameters (e.g., CDPRP, Langmuir volume, Langmuir strain constant, elastic modulus) have a strong relationship with productivity. When the value of coal geological parameters increases, the degree of productivity release is higher (as the initial water saturation increases, the production decreases correspondingly). Different coal and rock parameters have varying levels of impact on the drainage stage of CBM wells. The influences of the CDPRP, Langmuir volume, Langmuir strain constant, and elastic modulus on gas production are mainly concentrated in the initial and intermediate drainage stages and begin to fall off during the last drainage stage. Per the multi-factor analysis, the main coal–rock parameters affecting the productivity release are the Langmuir strain constant, followed by the CDPRP and other parameters. The analysis findings can offer theoretical guidance for CBM well selection and layer selection and enhance the block's overall CBM development level. The improved productivity prediction model for CBM, which is based on fluid–structure coupling theory, can offer a new technical benchmark for CBM well productivity prediction. How to create realistic shapes by interpolating two known shapes for facial blendshapes has not been investigated in the existing literature. In this paper, we propose a physics-based mathematical model and its analytical solutions to obtain more realistic facial shape changes. To this end, we first introduce the internal force of elastic beam bending into the equation of motion and integrate it with the constraints of two known shapes to develop the physics-based mathematical model represented with dynamic partial differential equations (PDEs). Second, we propose a unified mathematical expression of the external force represented with linear and various nonlinear time-dependent Fourier series, introduce it into the mathematical model to create linear and various nonlinear dynamic deformations of the curves defining a human face model, and derive analytical solutions of the mathematical model. Third, we evaluate the realism of the obtained analytical solutions in interpolating two known shapes to create new shape changes by comparing the shape changes calculated with the obtained analytical solutions and geometric linear interpolation to the ground-truth shape changes and conclude that among linear and various nonlinear PDE-based analytical solutions named as linear, quadratic, and cubic PDE-based interpolation, quadratic PDE-based interpolation creates the most realistic shape changes, which are more realistic than those obtained with the geometric linear interpolation. Finally, we use the quadratic PDE-based interpolation to develop a facial blendshape method and demonstrate that the proposed approach is more efficient than numerical physics-based facial blendshapes. Insulated plastic greenhouses (IPG) were a new type of facility emerging in production in China. The mechanism of construct parameters on the indoor solar radiation deserves further study. A mathematical model that can well describe the spatial and temporal distribution of solar radiation in the greenhouse was established. Based on this model, the effects of multiple construct parameters, such as insulation blanket shading, height–span ratio, greenhouse azimuth, and geographical latitude, on the indoor solar radiation of IPG were quantitatively specified. The results showed that the spatial and temporal distribution of inside solar radiation was highly variable along the span direction of IPG. And by analyzing the simulation data, it was found that for different heights of greenhouses, the corresponding optimal span is different. Therefore, in the construction of greenhouses, the appropriate height–span ratio should be selected according to the planting demand. And by simulating the inside solar radiation under different greenhouse azimuth angles, it was found that accumulated daily solar radiation in the greenhouse reaches the optimum value when the greenhouse azimuth angle is in the range of 0–20°. Assembly sequence planning (ASP) is an indispensable and important step in the intelligent assembly process, and aims to solve the optimal assembly sequence with the shortest assembly time as its optimization goal. This paper focuses on modular cabin construction for large cruise ships, tackling the complexities and challenges of part assembly during the process, based on real engineering problems. It introduces the multiple optimal solutions genetic algorithm (MOSGA). The MOSGA analyzes product constraints and establishes a mathematical model. Firstly, the traditional genetic algorithm (GA) is improved in the case of falling into the local optimum when facing complex problems, so that it can jump out of the local optimum under the condition of satisfying the processing constraints and achieve the global search effect. Secondly, the problem whereby the traditional search algorithm converges to the unique optimal solution is solved, and multiple unique optimal solutions that are more suitable for the actual assembly problem are solved. Thirdly, for a variety of restrictions and emergencies that may occur during the assembly process, the assembly sequence flexible planning (ASFP) method is introduced so that each assembly can be flexibly adjusted. It is important to establish solid mathematical knowledge throughout the education period. Matrices are important mathematical objects commonly used in many diverse disciplines, including mathematics, engineering, and science. Most problems encountered in such disciplines are represented by mathematical models with various types of matrices, and solved through some applications of matrix algebra. Although simple or advanced operations of matrices can be performed by using modern programming languages, it usually results in a large fragment of code with a low level of readability due to a complicated sequence of control statements. On the other hand, special-purpose languages handle these operations via library functions, presenting poor integration with other programming environments, and less programming flexibility and practice. This paper addresses the design and development of a programming language, called MxPL, which supports matrix-related mathematics with the provision of some basic structures and functions. Firstly, a grammar that is compatible with the usual notations of matrices is constructed and the parser is produced. Then, the code verifier and interpreter for MxPL programs are implemented. Some code examples are presented to illustrate the performance of several sophisticated matrix operations. In this paper, we investigate mathematical models of meteorological forecasting based on the work of neural networks, which allow us to calculate presumptive meteorological parameters of the desired location on the basis of previous meteorological data. A new method of grouping neural networks to obtain a more accurate output result is proposed. An algorithm is presented, based on which the most accurate meteorological forecast was obtained based on the results of the study. This algorithm can be used in a wide range of situations, such as obtaining data for the operation of equipment in a given location and studying meteorological parameters of the location. To build this model, we used data obtained from personal weather stations of the Weather Underground company and the US National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD). Also, a Google remote learning machine was used to compare the results with existing products on the market. The algorithm for building the forecast model covered several locations across the US in order to compare its performance in different weather zones. This paper is devoted to the analysis of mathematical models of chemotherapy for malignant tumors growing according to the Gompertz law or the generalized logistic law. The influence of the therapeutic agent on the tumor dynamics is determined by a therapy function depending on the time-varying concentration of the drug in the patient's body. The case of a non-monotonic therapy function with two maxima is studied. It reflects the use of two different therapeutic agents. The state variables of the dynamics are the tumor volume and the amount of the therapeutic agent able to suppress malignant cells (concentration of the drug in the body). The treatment protocol (the rate of administration of the therapeutic agent) is the control in the dynamics. The optimal control problem for this models is considered. It is the problem of the construction of treatment protocols that provide the minimal tumor volume at the end of the treatment. The solution of this problem was obtained by the authors in previous works via the optimal control theory. The form of the considered therapy functions provides a specific structure for the optimal controls. The managerial insights of this structure are discussed. In this paper, the structure of the viability set is described for the model according to the generalized logistic law. It is the set of the initial states of the model for which one can find a treatment protocol that guarantees that the tumor volume remains within the prescribed limits throughout the treatment. The description of the viability set's structure is based on the optimal control theory and the theory of Hamilton–Jacobi equations. An inverse problem of therapy is also considered, namely the problem of reconstruction of the treatment protocol and identification of the unknown parameter of the intensity of the tumor growth. Reconstruction is carried out by processing information about the observations of the tumor volume dynamics and the measurements of the drug concentration in the body. The paper presents a review of models that can be used to describe dynamics of lung cancer growth and its response to treatment at both cell population and intracellular processes levels. To address the latter, models of signaling pathways associated with cellular responses to treatment are overviewed. First, treatment options for lung cancer are discussed, and main signaling pathways and regulatory networks are briefly reviewed. Then, approaches used to model specific therapies are discussed. Following that, models of intracellular processes that are crucial in responses to therapies are presented. In modern converter-dominated power systems, total inertia is very variable and depends on the share of power generated by renewable-based converter-interfaced generation (CIG) at each specific moment. As a result, the limits required by the grid codes on the rate of change of frequency and its nadir or zenith during disturbances become challenging to achieve with conventional control approaches. Therefore, the transition to a novel control strategy of CIG with a grid-forming power converter is relevant. For this purpose, a control algorithm based on a virtual synchronous generator (VSG) is used, which simulates the properties and capabilities of a conventional synchronous generation. However, due to continuously changing operating conditions in converter-dominated power systems, the virtual inertia formed by VSG must be adaptive. At the same time, the efficiency of adaptive algorithms strongly depends on the used VSG structure. In this connection, this paper proposes an enhanced VSG structure for which the transfer function of the active power control loop was formed. With the help of it, the advantages over the conventional VSG structure were proven, which are necessary for the effective adaptive control of the VSG parameters. Then, the analysis of the impact of the VSG parameters on the dynamic response using the transient characteristics in the time domain was performed. Based on the results obtained, adaptive algorithms for independent control of the virtual inertia and the parameters of the VSG damper winding were developed. The performed mathematical modeling confirmed the reliable and effective operation of the developed adaptive control algorithms and the enhanced VSG structure. The theoretical and experimental results obtained in this paper indicate the need for simultaneous development and improvement of both adaptive control algorithms and VSG structures used for this purpose. This paper introduces a groundbreaking approach, DeepLimeSeg, which synergizes DL methodologies with Lime-based Explainability to segment customers effectively. The approach employs a comprehensive mathematical model to harness demographic data, behavioral patterns, and purchase histories, categorizing customers into distinct clusters aligned with their preferences and needs. A pivotal component of this research is the mathematical underpinning of the DeepLimeSeg approach. The Lime-based Explainability module ensures that the segmentation results are accurate and interpretable. The mathematical rigor facilitates businesses tailoring their marketing strategies with precision, optimizing sales outcomes. To validate the efficacy of DeepLimeSeg, we employed two real-world datasets: Mall-Customer Segmentation Data and an E-Commerce dataset. A comparative analysis between DeepLimeSeg and the traditional Recency, Frequency, and Monetary (RFM) analysis is presented. The RFM analysis, grounded in its mathematical modeling, segments customers based on purchase recency, frequency, and monetary value. Our preprocessing involved computing RFM scores for each customer, followed by K-means clustering to delineate customer segments. Empirical results underscored the superiority of DeepLimeSeg over other models in terms of MSE, MAE, and R 2 metrics. Specifically, the model registered an MSE of 0.9412, indicative of its robust predictive accuracy concerning the spending score. It is simple to implement conventional current control with a proportional integral (PI) controller. However, system stability and dynamic performance are not perfect, particularly when operating under unfavorable conditions. In this paper, an improved control method is proposed by introducing a compensation unit. The compensation unit can effectively compensate the system's phase around the crossover frequency, greatly enhancing the system's phase margin and stability. It is also capable of handling weak-grid conditions. In this paper, the concept of the proposed compensation unit is explained first. Then, the corresponding mathematical model for the current control loop is built, and system bode diagrams for the conventional and proposed methods are compared. Furthermore, the effect of the parameters for the compensation unit is investigated, and an optimization method is proposed to determine optimal parameters. In addition, to handle weak-grid conditions, the proposed scheme is expanded by including the compensation unit in the grid's feed-forward loop. The present paper, in the framework of a search for a computer-aided method to detect depression, deals with experimental data of various types, with their correlation, and with the way relevant information about depression delivered by different sets of data can be fused to build a unique body of knowledge about individuals' mental states facilitating the diagnosis and its accuracy. To this aim, it suggests the use of a recently introduced «limiting form» of the kinetic-theoretic language, at present widely used to describe complex systems of objects of the most diverse nature. In this connection, the paper mainly aims to show how a wide range of experimental procedures can be described as examples of this «limiting case» and possibly rendered by this description more effective as methods of prediction from experience. When developing neutralization systems for harmful agents, it is necessary to understand the mechanisms of the formation and evolution of an aerosol cloud in a closed or open space. Effective decontamination with aerosol clouds is provided by a rather high particle concentration and dispersion in an open space or on contaminated surfaces. This paper considers neutralization systems based on pulsed powder aerosol generators. It is shown that an aerosol cloud consisting of micron- and submicron-sized particles appears for several seconds after spraying. A further evolution of the aerosol cloud in a room is associated with the gravitational settling, diffusion, and coagulation of particles and their settling on the walls and ceiling. In the case of an open space or a ventilation system in a room, the evolution of the aerosol cloud is affected by the airflow. The main purpose of this paper is to determine the most important parameters and critical conditions of pulsed aerosol generation. A mathematical model is, thus, proposed for pulsed aerosol generation, and its parametric study is conducted in the most typical conditions. The purpose performance predicted by the model is the mass concentration of aerosol particles in the air and on surfaces, depending on the time of particle spraying and dispersion. In this paper, we construct a more realistic mathematical model to study toxoplasmosis dynamics. The model considers two discrete time delays. The first delay is related to the latent phase, which is the time lag between when a susceptible cat has effective contact with an oocyst and when it begins to produce oocysts. The second discrete time delay is the time that elapses from when the oocysts become present in the environment to when they are able to infect. The main aim in this paper is to find the conditions under which the toxoplasmosis can disappear from the cat population and to study whether the time delays can affect the qualitative properties of the model. Thus, we investigate the impact of the combination of two discrete time delays on the toxoplasmosis dynamics. Using dynamical systems theory, we are able to find the basic reproduction number R 0 d that determines the global long-term dynamics of the toxoplasmosis. We prove that, if R 0 d < 1 , the toxoplasmosis will be eradicated and that the toxoplasmosis-free equilibrium is globally stable. We design a Lyapunov function in order to prove the global stability of the toxoplasmosis-free equilibrium. We also prove that, if the threshold parameter R 0 d is greater than one, then there is only one toxoplasmosis-endemic equilibrium point, but the stability of this point is not theoretically proven. However, we obtained partial theoretical results and performed numerical simulations that suggest that, if R 0 d > 1 , then the toxoplasmosis-endemic equilibrium point is globally stable. In general, the structures of Multi-Active Bridge (MAB) converters that can be found in the literature are usually based on voltage converters. However, in some cases, it could be interesting to have a current-fed input due to load characteristics or operation constraints. This leads to a hybrid MAB structure mixing both current-fed and voltage-fed bridges. In this paper, a new hybrid-fed, fully coupled Triple-Active Bridge (TAB) converter topology with two voltage-fed ports and one current-fed port is studied, modelled and controlled. In the first place, a generalized average model (GAM) is developed for this system. After that, a reduced-order model is elaborated in order to simplify the behavioral study and control of this coupled system. Simple Summary: The word "model" can be used with different meanings and different contexts, like a model student, clay models or a model railway. In some cases, the context can clarify exactly what is meant by "model", but sometimes several meanings of model can be present in one area. For instance, with reference to cancer research, there can be ambiguity for what is meant by model. This paper reviews the use of the word model as related to cancer research and within the specific area of the microenvironment that surrounds a cancer tumour. The review grouped different definitions of model into four categories (model organisms, in vitro models, mathematical models and computational models) and explored what is meant in each case, mentioning the advantages and disadvantages of the different models Next, a quantitative investigation of the scientific publications listed in the database of the United States National Library of Medicine was performed by counting the frequencies of use of these terms, as well as the components of the microenvironments and the organs modelled with these techniques. The Oxford English Dictionary includes 17 definitions for the word "model" as a noun and another 11 as a verb. Therefore, context is necessary to understand the meaning of the word model. For instance, "model railways" refer to replicas of railways and trains at a smaller scale and a "model student" refers to an exemplary individual. In some cases, a specific context, like cancer research, may not be sufficient to provide one specific meaning for model. Even if the context is narrowed, specifically, to research related to the tumour microenvironment, "model" can be understood in a wide variety of ways, from an animal model to a mathematical expression. This paper presents a review of different "models" of the tumour microenvironment, as grouped by different definitions of the word into four categories: model organisms, in vitro models, mathematical models and computational models. Then, the frequencies of different meanings of the word "model" related to the tumour microenvironment are measured from numbers of entries in the MEDLINE database of the United States National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health. The frequencies of the main components of the microenvironment and the organ-related cancers modelled are also assessed quantitatively with specific keywords. Whilst animal models, particularly xenografts and mouse models, are the most commonly used "models", the number of these entries has been slowly decreasing. Dual-active bridge (DAB) converters are receiving increasing attention from researchers as a critical part of the power transmission of energy routers. However, the DAB converter generates a large backflow power in conventional control mode, and when the load is mutated, its output voltage takes longer to return to the reference value accompanied by large fluctuations. To solve the above problems, a hybrid strategy is proposed in this paper to optimize the converter. The mathematical models of the transmitted power and the backflow power were firstly derived through in-depth analysis of the DAB converter under extended-phase-shift (EPS) modulation, and the suppression of the backflow power was performed according to the improved Lagrange method utilized in the obtained results. Moreover, considering the poor dynamic characteristics of DAB converters under PI control, according to the state space average model of output voltage in the paper, a model prediction control equation is established to improve the dynamic response of the converter by predicting the output voltage value at the next moment. This paper examines the added value of a digital tool that constitutes a new model to introduce students to multiplication. Drawing on the theory of semiotic mediation, the semiotic potential of this new model is analysed with respect to the same task that can be solved in two different settings (the digital tool and pencil and paper). The analysis shows that the task solutions undergo significant changes depending on to the technological settings. Even though the end product of the model–task dyads might look the same in both settings, the product emerges from the different processes that would mediate quite different meanings for multiplication. This suggests that while designing tasks that involve mathematical models, rather than focusing only on the end product, considering the whole process would reveal the extensive potential meanings the model–task dyad can mediate. Polyvinyl butyral (PVB) is a thermoplastic resin commonly used as an interlayer material in laminated glass. Combined with textile fibres from worn tyres, PVB can produce a composite material with unique properties. One such property is absorption. Absorption in textile fibre composite materials refers to the ability of the material to absorb or retain moisture or other fluids. The presence of moisture or liquids can affect the properties of composite materials, such as their strength, stiffness, and dimensional stability. As a result of the physical and chemical action of the environment, corrosion of plastics occurs and manifests itself in changes in appearance, surface quality, weight, dimensions, and also in changes in other properties. This paper investigates four composite materials with different fabrics content. The aim of this paper is to propose a generalized mathematical model for absorption values so that, with different ratios of textile fibre in the material, its quality indicators are at a sufficient level. Our study will proceed from the assumption that by changing the values of the individual coefficients of the selected model based on their analysis, we will achieve the required qualitative indicators. In recent years, queuing systems with batch service are emerging as powerful and flexible mathematical models in different frameworks. In this paper, we consider a single server queuing system with Poissonian arrivals, infinite buffers, and a constant batch size b. This paper addresses a little-studied optimization problem, namely the existence of an optimal arrival rate that minimizes the average sojourn time. Unlike the classical M / M / 1 queue, for any batch size b, the problem admits a non-trivial solution that can be found by solving a polynomial equation of degree b + 1 . Since, in general, only numerical solutions are available, a simple first-order approximation is also derived and the corresponding deviations (in terms of input rate and sojourn time) are calculated. In more detail, it is shown that the approximation improves as the batch size increases and, in any case, the relative error for the average sojourn time is less than 0.34%. Finally, the paper provides new theoretical results about the asymptotic service rate in the equivalent birth–death process, highlighting how it depends on all queue parameters. Aiming at the penetration problem of high-speed vehicles against a modified proportional guidance interceptor, a three-dimensional mathematical model of attack–defense confrontation between the high-speed vehicle and the interceptor is established in this paper. The modified proportional navigation guidance law of the interceptor is included in the model, and control constraints, pitch angle velocity constraints, and dynamic delay are introduced. Then, the performance index of the optimal penetration of high-speed vehicles is established. Under the condition of considering the 180-degree BTT control, the analytical solutions of the optimal speed roll angle and the optimal overload of high-speed vehicles are obtained according to symmetric Hamilton principle. The simulation results show that the overload switching times of high-speed vehicles to achieve optimal penetration are N − 1, where N is the modified proportional guidance coefficient of the interceptor. When the maximum speed roll angle velocity is [60, 90] degrees per second, the penetration effect of high-speed vehicles is good. Finally, the optimal penetration guidance law proposed in this paper can achieve a miss distance of more than 5 m when the overload capacity ratio is 0.33. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents an analysis of the effectiveness of the element interaction model in a vehicular ad hoc network (VANET). An analysis of the mathematical model and its numerical solution for the system of boundary device interactions in the traditional configuration of roadside unit (RSU) placement using single- and dual-channel connection between on-board units (OBU) and RSU is given. In addition, the model efficiency is improved using a clustering approach. The efficiency evaluation is based on calculating the percentage of unprocessed requests generated by OBUs during their mobility, the average power consumption and the magnitude of the delay in transmitting and processing the generated requests in the OBU–RSU system. The traditional and cluster models are compared. The results obtained in this paper show that each of the proposed models can be effectively implemented in mobile nodes and will significantly reduce the overall expected query processing time to improve the organization and algorithmic support of VANET. Along with this, it is shown that the developed approach allows for efficient power consumption when combining RSUs into clusters with a shared cache. The novelty of solving the problems is due to the lack of a comprehensive model that allows the distribution and prediction of the parameters and resources of the system for different computational tasks, which is essential when implementing and using V2X technology to solve the problems of complex management of VANET elements.
