The quasi-energy spectrum recently measured in experiments with a squeeze-driven superconducting Kerr oscillator showed good agreement with the energy spectrum of its corresponding static effective Hamiltonian. The experiments also demonstrated that the dynamics of low-energy states can be explained with the same emergent static effective model. The spectrum exhibits real (avoided) level crossings for specific values of the Hamiltonian parameters, which can then be chosen to suppress (enhance) quantum tunneling. Here, we analyze the spectrum and the dynamics of the effective model up to high energies, which should soon be within experimental reach. We show that the parameters values for the crossings, which can be obtained from a semiclassical approach, can also be identified directly from the dynamics. Our analysis of quantum tunneling is done with the effective flux of the Husimi volume of the evolved states between different regions of the phase space. Both initial coherent states and quench dynamics are considered. We argue that the level crossings and their consequences to the dynamics are typical to any quantum system with one degree of freedom, whose density of states presents a local logarithmic divergence and a local step discontinuity., 13 pages, 8 figures

Producción Científica, In December 2019, Wuhan City in China officially declared the presence of an unknown virus (now called SARS-Cov-2) that soon gained pandemic status. The SARS-Cov-2 or COVID-19 pandemic quickly led to the closure of Universities and colleges following the advice of public Health officials to maintain social distancing (Murphy, 2020). Consequently, educational institutions quickly adopted e-learning under the distance education mode (Morgan, 2020). At University of Valladolid (Spain), two of the degrees with the highest number of new students are the Bachelor’s Degree (BD) in Medicine and the BD in Nursing, which also have subjects with a very important practical part. Two of these subjects are Medical Biology and Biology, in the first year of both degrees. The use of the optical microscope is essential to carry out the practical work in these subjects during which students not only manipulate and observe materials using the microscope, but also engage intellectually, using and applying theoretical concepts., This work is the result of two Teaching Innovation Projects funded by the University of Valladolid (PID_20-21_053 and PID_21- 22_052).

We use the multiple quantum coherence (MQC) spectrum to explore the effect of excited-state quantum phase transition (ESQPT) on the quantum coherence in the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) model--a paradigmatic model in the studies of ESQPTs. MQC spectrum is calculated with respect to a given reference basis and applied to both evolved and long time averaged states. We show that the MQC spectrum undergoes an abrupt change as the system passes through ESQPT, indicating a strong impact of ESQPT on quantum coherences. We further discuss the ability of zero mode of MQC spectrum to probe the presence of ESQPT and verify that it behaves as a realiable indicator of ESQPT. In addition, we perform an investigation on the behavior of MQC spectrum width. We find that the MQC spectrum widths for the evolved and long time averaged states are act as good ESQPT witnesses. Our results provide further evidence to confirm the usefulness of the MQC spectrum for diagnosing different types of phase transitions in many-body quantum systems., Corrected several typos; new references have been added

The standard Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) model undergoes a second-order ground-state quantum phase transition (QPT) and an excited-state quantum phase transition (ESQPT). The inclusion of an anharmonic term in the LMG Hamiltonian gives rise to a second ESQPT that alters the static properties of the model [Phys. Rev. E 106, 044125 (2022)]. In the present work, the dynamical implications associated to this new ESQPT are analyzed. For that purpose, a quantum quench protocol is defined on the system Hamiltonian that takes an initial state, usually the ground state, into a complex excited state that evolves on time. The impact of the new ESQPT on the time evolution of the survival probability and the local density of states after the quantum quench, as well as on the Loschmidt echoes and the microcanonical out-of-time-order correlator (OTOC) are discussed. The anharmonity-induced ESQPT, despite having a different physical origin, has dynamical consequences similar to those observed in the ESQPT already present in the standard LMG model.

Morbid obesity is one of the main factors related to hernia recurrences after an open repair, while laparoscopic approach has offered excellent results in this type of patients. Concomitant laparoscopic bariatric procedure and ventral hernia repair (VHR) with intraperitoneal mesh has been described as a safe option, but the need to place a mesh intraperitoneally has arisen some concerns. However, the literature does not show good results with the use of transfascial suture neither for primary closures nor with biological meshes. There is still not enough evidence to reach a consensus regarding when is the best time to perform the hernia repair on patients undergoing bariatric surgery, simultaneously or differing the hernia repair. For that reason, it seems that an individualized approach is recommended, informing the patient of the risks and benefits of each option. The type of bariatric surgery, the type and location of the hernia, previous surgery in case of an incisional hernia, symptoms related to the hernia and the surgical approach are factors to be analyzed. It is necessary to consider repairing simultaneously a ventral hernia (VH) in the patient who is going to undergo a bariatric procedure or differing it in order to perform simultaneously a concomitant repair (CR) and the dermolipectomy needed after weight loss. For this reason, only clear symptomatic hernias are recommended to be repair during the bariatric procedure. Finally, it is important to inform properly the patient about possible changes intraoperatively of the bariatric procedure because existing findings, especially due to the presence of adhesions.

Este proyecto tuvo como objetivo desarrollar un nuevo método de determinación de cadaverina. La determinación de cadaverina fue posible gracias a la acción conjunta de tres factores diferentes: la reacción enzimática catalizada por la enzima DAO, la capacidad fluorescente de los BSA-AuNC recubiertos de SiO2 y el “quenching” de la fluorescencia producido por el oxígeno.Se realizaron varios estudios preliminares para conocer cuál era el mecanismo utilizado por los BSA-AuNCs para actuar en la reacción. Gracias a ellos pudimos ver que era necesario recubrirlos con SiO2 para evitar su reacción con el H2O2.Se realizó el estudio de optimización del método. Se obtuvieron las siguientes condiciones óptimas: [BSA-AuNCs]= 3x10-5 M; [DAO]= 0,24 U/mL; Solución tampón pH 9 de fosfatos 0,1 M.Además, se realizó un estudio de calibración para determinar la concentración de cadaverina presente en la muestra. Consiguiendo un rango de linear de 25-220 µM.Por último, se llevaron a cabo varios estudios complementarios como el estudio de la interferencia producida por la putrescina o el estudio de “metal enhaced fluorescence” (MEF) para abrir nuevas líneas de investigación.

The present article has the purpose of measuring the organizational development of the associative organizations in the south of Colombia through members' and associates' perception regarding the intellectual capital developed in the components of human, structural and relational capital. The study was of a quantitative and descriptive type, in which the survey technique was used through a Likert-scale applied to members and associates of 27 associative organizations. Faced with the results, organizations were obtained with an organizational advance that exceeds 60% in the components of human and structural capital, which implies that the organizations developed aspects of human capital such as the knowledge of its members, the professional relevance, the processes of improvement and the antiquity of the association, while in the structural capital aspects such as standards and values, certifications and brands stand out and the revolving fund among others. Nevertheless, relational capital has not yet reached its development, especially in its marketing and business relations components.

Background: Regular exercise, particularly moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT), can improve immune function. Natural killer (NK) cells, a subset of lymphocytes that react to infections, are the most responsive innate immune cells to exercise, but the mechanisms underlying this are poorly understood. A type of exercise training that is gaining popularity in recent years is high-intensity interval training (HIIT), but how it affects NK cells is largely unknown. In fact, intense exercise has been traditionally viewed as a potential stressor to immune homeostasis. The purpose of this study was to determine in healthy, previously untrained adults (N=8 [3 male; 40±6 years]) the effects of an intervention consisting of 4-week MICT followed by 4-week HIIT on NK cells as compared with a pre-training (baseline) state. Methods: Participants were studied at three time points: baseline, mid-intervention (after MICT), and post-intervention (after HIIT). Main assessments included cytotoxicity assays, flow-cytometry analysis of NK cell surface markers, and interrogation of the cellular proteome using a systems biology approach. McArdle disease is a rare glycogen storage disorder with a reported incidence of ∼1:100.000 people. It is caused by recessive mutations in the gene encoding for muscle glycogen phosphorylase (MGP), which prevents the skeletal muscle from metabolizing stored glycogen. Until very recently, MGP expression was thought to be essentially restricted to the skeletal muscle tissue. Yet, we have shown that human T lymphocytes also express MGP, which in turn plays a key role to control the migration and proliferation capacity of these cells. This finding suggests that MGP could play an important role in regulating human immune function. In addition, our group has observed previously unreported co-morbidities in patients with McArdle disease including retinopathy, thyroid disease, neurocognitive symptoms and psychiatric disorders. Here we will report on the expression levels of the three glycogen phosphorylase isoforms (brain, liver and muscle [i.e., MGP]) in human immortalized thyroid follicular epithelial (Nthy-ori-3-1) and retinal pigmented epithelium cells (ARPE-19), and in human microglia and astrocytes. We will also present data showing that the absence of expression MGP in Nthy-ori-3-1 and ARPE-19 modifies its biological functions. Despite its generality and powerful convergence properties, Milstein's method for functionals of spatially bounded stochastic differential equations is widely regarded as difficult to implement. This has likely prevented it from being utilised in applications. In this paper, we design and analyse in detail one such implementation. The presented method turns out to be on par with other, popular schemes in terms of computational cost---but with a (nearly) linear weak convergence rate under the usual smoothness requirements on coefficients and boundary. Two byproducts of theoretical interest are a new, non-standard rank-one update formula, and a connection between numerics of bounded diffusions and Eikonal equations. Flooded areas of reservoirs and artificial lakes have been increasingly used for fish production; however, the waste generated by aquaculture has become a concern for the sustainable development of this activity. One of the main strategies adopted by management and regulatory agencies is the use of hydrodynamic models that calculate the carrying or nutrient load capacity of a particular water body and the effect of fish farming. These models are precise in the development of optimal strategies for feeding and waste calculation. This review paper addresses this topic and describes the methodology developed for the analysis and simulation of the carrying capacity for fish production, based on the integration of the Fish-PrFEQ nutritional bioenergetic model and the hydrodynamic model of Dillon & Rigler. This methodology allows evaluating the real contribution of aquaculture waste and assists in the planning and management of aquaculture in these aquatic environments, besides enabling and encouraging producers and the aquaculture industry to use fish food with better nutritional quality and lower environmental impact. Resumo: Áreas inundadas de reservatórios e lagos artificiais estão sendo cada vez mais utilizadas para a produção de peixes; contudo, os resíduos lançados pela aquicultura tornaram-se uma preocupação para o desenvolvimento sustentável desta atividade. Uma das principais estratégias adotadas pelos órgãos gestores e fiscalizadores consiste no uso de modelos hidrodinâmicos que calculam a capacidade de suporte ou de carga de nutrientes de um determinado corpo hídrico e a influência dos cultivos de peixes. Esses modelos são precisos no desenvolvimento de estratégias ideais de alimentação e cálculo de resíduos. Este artigo de revisão aborda esta temática e traz uma descrição da metodologia desenvolvida para análise e simulação da capacidade de suporte para produção de pescados, baseada na integração do modelo bioenergético nutricional “Fish-PrFEQ” com o modelo hidrodinâmico de Dillon & Rigler. Esta metodologia permite avaliar a real contribuição de resíduos aquícolas e auxilia no planejamento e na gestão da aquicultura nestes ambientes aquáticos, além de possibilitar e incentivar que os produtores e a indústria aquícola utilizem rações de melhor qualidade nutricional e menor impacto ambiental.
