Koot has published highly critical papers on CBNRM in Namibia and elsewhere, and appears to have significant involvement in a community-run lodge in Namibia situated outside of a communal conservancy (Koot [8]). The premise of Koot, Hebinck, and Sullivan ([9]) is that as "professionals working for organizations that have collaboratively instigated and supported CBNRM initiatives" we may be biased toward finding positive outcomes for Namibia's CBNRM program. The aim of this paper is to investigate whether the more pro-environmental attitudes of farmers influence the technical efficiency of agricultural sectors in EU regions (NUTS-2). To answer this, I employed data envelopment analysis (DEA) for efficiency analysis combined with the double bootstrapped truncated regression to investigate the relationship between environmental attitudes and technical efficiency. I found that this relationship is positive, i.e. pro--environmental attitudes were related to greater efficiency. An increase in the environmental attitude variable by one standard deviation led to an improvement in efficiency of 2.8-6 p.p. The higher share of farmers with formal training also proved to be a positive and significant determinant of efficiency. The share of arable land on which conventional tillage was used, and soil erosion proved to be significant but negative determinants of efficiency. Policymakers should present to farmers the environmental benefits of agricultural policy but should also highlight that greater environmental awareness translates into a more efficient operation. Scholars have been interested in examining what drives pro-environmental behavior. However, only a few scientific studies have been devoted to analyzing and understanding the pro-environmental behavior of those that are on vacation. Therefore, the current paper contributes to the existing literature by employing a text-mining approach to conduct a full-text analysis of 210 articles and (1) describes pro-environmental conceptualization, (2) presents the important topics and studies that have emerged from the literature, and (3) suggests directions for future research. The eight core topics that were uncovered contributed to discussion of the content of publications, related theories, core constructs, methodologies, main authors, and journals. The paper shows that the literature on pro-environmental behavior uses more quantitative than qualitative approaches and uses structural equations or regression analysis to explore the data. This paper intends to use UAM Corpus Tool 6.2 corpus annotation software to conduct a comparative ecological discourse analysis of the selections of the ecological literary work Walden - The Ponds and The Pond in Winter from the perspective of the attitude system of appraisal theory, aiming to reveal Thoreau’s attitude towards ecological environment and to prove the practicality of appraisal theory in the ecological discourse analysis of the literary work, and at the same time, to broaden the research for the ecological discourse analysis. It was found that the number of appreciative resources in The Ponds (412) was much greater than the number of judgement (61) and affect (39) resources and that the number of positive eco-discourses (270) and neutral/ambiguous eco-discourses (179) was also much greater than the number of negative discourses (63). The number of appraisal resources (185) in The Pond in Winter is much larger than that of judgement resources (50) and emotion resources (35), and the number of positive ecological discourses (270) and neutral/ambiguous ecological discourses (179) is much larger than that of negative ecological discourses (63), and positive ecological discourse (172) is much larger than neutral/ambiguous ecological discourse (65) and negative discourse (33). This reflects Thoreau’s ecological orientation of loving nature, respecting nature, opposing excessive destruction of nature by human beings, and advocating calling on human beings to protect nature. Purpose: This paper aims to find out if there is a relationship between access to climate change information and student activism. Design/methodology/approach: Exploratory study focused on the survey of 400 [n = 400] students from 10 universities in Spain from April to May 2022. A questionnaire with 19 questions was divided into blocks of knowledge, awareness, and action and bivariate analysis with a margin of error of ±5% and a confidence level of 95%. Findings: The greater the degree of information received, the greater the activism of university students, who tend to use digital media and social networks to get informed. However, they perceive that the university generates little information and a low number of activities related to climate change. Students demand that universities implement informal, formal, and service-learning environmental education strategies on sustainable consumption. Research limitations/implications: Given the results of previous studies showing the variable "type of degree" does not show differences at the beginning and end of studies, it has not been considered in this research. Nevertheless, it would be convenient to introduce it in future investigations to confirm if this may have an impact on informational habits. Practical implications: This paper urges universities to act as sources of environmental education, given the relationship between the information received and the pro-environmental attitudes of students. Social implications: The universities are powerful social actors that can shape public and political discourses for eco-social transition. This study contributes to the existing literature by specifically investigating the cognitive factors associated with ESCB among school children. Self-regulation, environmental values, and social influence contribute to the development of a comprehensive model for understanding and promoting sustainable behavior in this demographic. This research adds original insights into the field of sustainable consumption and highlights the need for further exploration and modelling of all relevant variables. This paper aims to identify the key cognitive factors that impact environmentally sustainable consumption behavior (ESCB) among school children. The study investigates the correlation between various cognitive factors and ESCB to provide insights into promoting sustainable behavior in this demographic. A survey was conducted among a sample of 643 school children to gather data on the factors (self-regulation, environmental values, social influence, environmental attitude, environmental responsibility, and environmental knowledge) related to ESCB. Factor analysis and multiple regression were employed to analyze the data. The study focused on examining the influence of self-regulation, environmental values, social influence, environmental attitude, environmental responsibility, and environmental knowledge on ESCB. The analysis revealed that self-regulation emerged as the most significant cognitive factor influencing ESCB among children. Environmental values and social influence also played significant roles in shaping their consumption behavior. However, environmental attitude, environmental responsibility, and environmental knowledge were found to have no significant impact on ESCB. These findings shed light on the cognitive factors that need to be addressed to enhance environmentally sustainable behaviors among school children. The results suggest that efforts to improve ESCB among school children should focus on strengthening self-regulation, fostering environmental values, and leveraging social influence. It is important to understand that promoting environmental awareness among children requires influencing their peers and parents as well. The prevalence of outdoor sports tourism has posed certain threats to the natural environment. In recent years, incidents of outdoor sports enthusiasts damaging ecological environments and historical sites have become increasingly common. Thus, it is imperative to encourage these enthusiasts to protect environmental ecosystems, and sustainability has become a priority consideration for those participating in outdoor sports tourism. This paper explores the multiple mediating roles of environmental knowledge and attitudes in the relationship between sustainable values and the pro-environmental behaviours of outdoor sports tourism enthusiasts. The study aims to provide references and suggestions for promoting environmentally responsible behaviours in outdoor sports tourism and to support the sustainable development of sports tourism in China and globally. The research targets outdoor sports tourism enthusiasts, analysing data from 1079 survey responses. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used to test the direct and indirect effects between variables. The results indicate that sustainable values have a positive impact on environmental attitudes, environmental knowledge, and pro-environmental behaviours. Furthermore, environmental attitudes and knowledge play a positive mediating role between sustainable values and pro-environmental behaviours. Education for sustainable development plays an important role in the cognitive and social development of pupils. A wealth of studies demonstrate the correlation between environmental education (EE) projects and the future potential development of informed and active citizens with pro-environmental behaviours. All EE project have common characteristics, but usually the pupils involved in them hold the position of little explorers. It would be interesting if students could have the role of the researcher and be actively involved in all stages of a research project. The current study aims to describe a research on the accessibility of public space and to contribute to the discussion if primary school pupils could become researchers. The main conclusion of this paper, after the evaluation of the research project, is that pupils from the upper primary school classes can play an active role in a scientific research project. As the international community attempts to unite to combat climate change, American party politics could hardly be more divided on this issue. This paper offers an additional explanation for how US congressional politics on environmental policy has polarized: the ongoing education realignment in American party politics. As the Democratic Party increasingly relies on college-educated voters and the opposite is true for the Republican Party, this can affect the parties' positions on environmental policy based on public opinion research which finds a positive relationship between education and pro-environment attitudes. Using League of Conservation Voters legislative scorecards from 1983 to 2020, this paper finds the education realignment contributed to the removal of pro-environment Republicans and anti-environment Democrats in Congress in recent decades; and this primarily occurred through elite replacement rather than conversion. Scholars have made considerable strides in evaluating and improving the external validity of experimental research. However, little attention has been paid to a crucial aspect of external validity – the topic of study. Researchers frequently develop a general theory and hypotheses (e.g., about policy attitudes), then conduct a study on a specific topic (e.g., environmental attitudes). Yet, the results may vary depending on the topic chosen. In this paper, we develop the idea of topic sampling – rather than studying a single topic, we randomly sample many topics from a defined population. As an application, we combine topic sampling with a classic survey experiment design on partisan cues. Using a hierarchical model, we efficiently estimate the effect of partisan cues for each policy, showing that the size of the effect varies considerably, and predictably, across policies. In order to improve the efficiency of ecological environment governance and strengthen the construction of an ecological civilization society, it is necessary to stimulate the efforts of all sectors of society, including social organizations. However, the previous literature has paid less attention to the importance of social organizations in stimulating public participation in ecological and environmental supervision. Therefore, from the perspective of "behavior demonstration" and "publicity and education," based on the data of 1041 questionnaires from various provinces in China, this paper constructs a moderated mesomeric effect model to analyze the impact of environmental protection organizations, industry associations, schools, foundations and other social organizations on the willingness of public participation in ecological environmental supervision and conducts robustness tests and heterogeneity analysis. The research finds that: (1) The "behavior demonstration" and "publicity and education" incentive activities of social organizations significantly enhance the public's willingness to participate in ecological environment supervision. (2) Environmental supervision cognition plays a part of intermediary effect in the relationship between the "behavior demonstration" and "publicity and education" incentive activities of social organizations and the public's willingness to participate in ecological environment supervision. (3) In the regulatory effect, the impact of "behavior demonstration" and "publicity and education" activities of environmental protection organizations, schools and foundations and the "behavior demonstration" activities of industry associations on the public's willingness to participate in ecological environment supervision are all regulated by environmental attitudes. The process of "publicity and education" activities of industry associations affecting the public's willingness to participate in ecological environment supervision is not regulated by environmental attitudes. (4) The results of heterogeneity analysis show that the incentive activities of social organizations in coastal areas have a stronger effect on the public's willingness to participate in ecological environment supervision than those in inland areas; the willingness of students, the government and the public in public institutions to participate in ecological environment supervision are generally higher than that of employees in enterprises and other professions; the analysis of heterogeneity in psychological preferences shows that the public with altruistic preferences is more willing to participate in ecological environment supervision under social organization incentives. Purpose: The cognitive aim of this article was to elucidate the importance of ecological marketing endeavours within urban settings for fostering city identity, as well as to accentuate the role of residents in environmental stewardship within the city. The objective of the study was to determine how cities promote pro-environmental actions and attitudes among various consumer groups. Design/methodology/approach: Primary research employed the CAWI method, utilizing a proprietary questionnaire. The study was conducted in 2022. The subjects of the study were cities in Poland. The questionnaire was distributed to all cities, and the analysis was performed on 414 returned and properly completed questionnaires. The presented results constitute a segment of the entire research. Findings: Cities clearly focus on social media and their own publications for promotion. A large part of the activities is directed at residents, especially the youngest ones. This is manifested in the organisation of festivals and events for residents of all ages. Events of various types are organised on a fairly large scale in cities (picnics, family events, city days, festivals), with environmental issues as their main theme. Encouraging ecological activity and raising awareness also occurs, albeit to a much lesser extent, through activities targeting teachers, business representatives, or employees working in municipal offices. However, what stands out is the low level of cooperation with non-profit and business entities in the area of pro-environmental activities. Research limitations/implications: The study was quantitative in nature; future research could be expanded to include qualitative studies that would more specifically pinpoint the initiatives undertaken in the city regarding the promotion of pro-environmental actions and green city marketing. Simple Summary: Farm animal welfare research conducted in China is relatively less accessed and unknown outside of the country, which might create the impression that farm animal welfare receives limited attention in China. This paper aims to offer a comprehensive review of the existing Chinese farm animal welfare literature. CiteSpace software was employed for the analysis and visualization of various aspects of the literature, including the quantity, species, authors, institutions, journals, and keywords. This process helped reveal the research trends, hotspots, and frontiers in the field. The findings from this bibliometric analysis strongly indicate that farm animal welfare is a subject of considerable interest and research activity in China. Farm animal welfare research conducted in China is not commonly accessed or known outside of China, which may lead to the assumption that farm animal welfare receives relatively little attention in China. Therefore, a bibliometric analysis was conducted on the existing Chinese farm animal welfare literature to provide robust evidence to refute this assumption. A total of 1312 peer-reviewed Chinese studies on farm animal welfare published between March 1992 and June 2023 were retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database. CiteSpace software was used to analyze and visualize the number, species, authors, institutions, journals, and keywords of the papers. In China, farm animal welfare research has gone through the processes of an early stage (1992–2001), rapid-growth stage (2002–2007), and mature stage (2008–present), and the scale of research continues to grow. Notably, swine and chickens have received priority attention in this area. A Matthew effect was observed for authors and institutions, with relatively little collaboration among authors and institutions. Most of the papers were published in a small number of journals, with an apparent agglomeration characteristic. The research hotspots, summarized as "feed and diet", "environmental impacts and control", "integrated rearing management", "injury and disease", "behavior and technologies for behavior monitoring", "genetic analysis", "welfare during transport and slaughter", "welfare-friendly animal product consumption", "attitudes toward farm animal welfare", and "healthy breeding". The keywords "computer vision", "recognition", "temperature", "precision livestock farming", "laying hen", and "behavior", represent the major research frontiers in the field, which could indicate potential areas of significant future research. The findings of the present bibliometric analysis confirm the fact that farm animal welfare is a field of interest in China. Farm animal welfare research in China tends to be pragmatic, with a strong emphasis on enhancing growth and production performance, as well as product quality, rather than solely concentrating on improving farm animal welfare. This paper provides insightful references that researchers can use to identify and understand the current status and future direction of the farm animal welfare field in China. This paper investigates the knowledge of the general public on the legislative framework relating to wildlife conservation in England, with a specific focus on the Bern Convention and the public's awareness of the treaty, as well as the domestic legislation transposing it. By creating a publicly available survey, the study determined the environmental attitudes of the public and their knowledge of the legislative regime relating to wildlife conservation. Whilst the majority of the public displayed pro-environmental attitudes and support for greater efforts towards the conservation of flora and fauna, the overall awareness of the legislation was worryingly low, with only 5.6% of respondents recognising the Bern Convention. Accordingly, the study investigated how awareness of environmental legislation may be increased. Ultimately, the paper concludes that formal environmental education, including legislation, must be optimised, and the domestic legislative framework should be further consolidated. This paper investigates the way in which first‐line managers in Belarusian chemical companies used environmental framings of the notion of homeland and linked these to Soviet‐legacy organisational practices in order to encourage members of staff to engage in proenvironmental behaviour at work. Participants presented three different framings of homeland: Rodina (the motherland), small Rodina (one's more immediate surroundings), and Katorga ("a country with forced labour") to show how a sense of environmental responsibility could (or could not) be linked to them. Different Soviet‐legacy motivational and mobilisation techniques could be used by front‐line managers to encourage and reward proenvironmental engagement in employees who were amenable to different framings of homeland. The paper contributes to the limited literature on patriotism as a conduit to environmental virtue and engagement, and to the equally scarce literature on proenvironmental attitudes and behaviours in post‐Soviet economies in transition. Through rich, qualitative descriptions of emotionally coloured framings of homeland as constitutive of environmental responsibility, we show how notions of patriotism linked to specific organisational practices provide front‐line managers with a language and motivational techniques to address employees' environmental engagement—or lack thereof. This paper presents some aspects of the relevance of physics education from a Georgian perspective. Students' interest in physics is currently an important issue for effective learning and teaching in many countries. We report about the results of an extensive physics students' survey at the end of compulsory education and the beginning of upper secondary school in Georgia. Students' interest in physics was investigated in different contexts regarding 'out of school' experiences, attitudes toward environmental issues, and science and technology. Girls conveyed a higher interest in physics than boys. Some correlations are found between students' interest in physics and respect for environmental issues, nature, and science discoveries. Young people are key actors in the transition to more sustainable lifestyles and consumption patterns. Therefore, it is important to understand how environmental values and behaviours change in the transition from youth to young adulthood. In this paper, we trace the development of a pro-environmental orientation from late adolescence through emergent adulthood to young adulthood in a longitudinal survey study that included a cohort of young Danish people born between 1987 and 1992, aged 16–20 in the first study and 30–34 in 2021. The main objective is to explore whether and in which direction the pro-environmental orientation of this cohort changed during late adolescence through emergent and young adulthood. We assess whether the observed changes derive from developmental, cohort or period effects. Overall, we see a weakening of pro-environmental values and attitudes, while the frequencies of pro-environmental behaviours are increasing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Many scientists have studied the relationship between society and the environment. The New Ecological Paradigm (NEP) has been repeatedly used for the analysis of public environmental attitudes, as the public pays increased attention to the environmental issues, sustainability, or the climate crisis. Our paper deals with the use of the NEP to study and identify public environmental attitudes in the Slovak Republic. We discovered a deviation of our results from the NEP, as we identified altered environmental attitudes, which we find acceptable, as environmental attitudes are a delicate set of values encompassing different, yet interrelated facets. According to our results, we were able to classify our respondents into those with technocentric, ecocentric, and resiliocentric attitudes, while up to 70% of respondents hold the ecocentric attitude. These findings could be influenced by the fact that no significant changes in the population’s lifestyle have been required up to now. The NEP has proven to be an important predictive tool in assessing public environmental attitudes to determine readiness for environmental transformation. Nevertheless, we recommend using a combination of analysis that includes evaluating the impact of demographic factors to achieve higher-quality results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Environmental pollution and climate change have become a burning issue presently in the globe. The study was conducted to evaluate the environmental education, awareness, and environmental ethics among the pre-university students at various colleges in Mysore city. The questionnaires were prepared and circulated and presently a sample of 35 students (boys= 37% and girls = 63%) results have been analysed in the present research paper. To gauge the environmental awareness among the students. A set of questions was prepared and divided into three sections namely, attitude towards the environment, environmental awareness, and environmental education. The proposed prospective study's statistical analysis will focus on environmental awareness among pre university students. The sample size is calculated by using simple random sampling techniques. Once a set of questionnaire responses were analysed, it was found that approximately eighty percent of the students gave the questionnaire an excellent response. Their decisions had the goal for bettering the environment and reduce pollution. In conclusion, environmental awareness is an advantage for kids and can contribute to Mother Earth's sustainability. Introduction: Gender differences have been identified in both the engagement in and the determinants of sustainable diet behaviours. However, as engagement in pro-environmental behaviours varies across countries, the consistency of gender differences could follow similar patterns. Understanding the factors underlying gender and country differences in diet intentions is important for determining how to promote sustainable diets in different populations. Methods: Using survey data from the UK, China, Sweden and Brazil (N=4,569), this paper examines the influence of subjective norms, diet-related identity, perceived status of meat consumption, environmental identity and environmental concern on sustainable diet intentions. Multigroup analysis was used to explore gender and country differences in the influence of these variables, and whether gender differences were consistent across the four countries. Results: The findings show that there are gender differences in the influence of dietrelated identity and perceived status of meat consumption, as well as cross-country differences in all factors except subjective norms. Holding a strong diet-related meat identity negatively affected sustainable diet intentions in all groups. Crucially, however, gender differences are not consistent across countries. Discussion: These results suggest that individuals' intentions to engage in sustainable diet behaviours are influenced by nationally unique gender associations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: The dedication of people towards wildlife will form an important part in future wildlife conservation and the halt of biodiversity decline. In this context, education and knowledge transfer can help to prevent actions deriving from misinformation. In this study, we refer to a survey among people interested in wildlife and try to highlight the importance of the improvement of educational services for a success in future coexistence and meaningful wildlife care. We discovered that a strong opinion about dealing with wildlife is associated with increasing contextual knowledge and experience in wildlife conservation. With the results of a survey presented in this paper, we provide insight into public attitudes towards dealing with wildlife. Based on 1569 data sets derived from participating stakeholders, we inquired about the individual experience the participants had made with wild animals, and asked about their personal engagement, attitude towards management, and emotions involved and tried to evaluate basic contextual knowledge. As a result, we discovered a positive effect showing that a strong opinion about dealing with wildlife is associated with increasing contextual knowledge. People that are experienced in and engaged in wildlife conservation expressed significantly stronger positive emotions in this context. We conclude that education is essential in dealing with wildlife responsibly and that positive emotions are a main trigger for such engagement. Environmental education has the potential to help reduce negative human–wildlife interactions by increasing positive attitudes toward wildlife and providing participants with knowledge and skills that can help mitigate conflict situations and promote safety. To promote positive human–wildlife relationships, effective programs could be implemented widely in areas near remote wildlife reserves and protected areas. We created and evaluated a new environmental education program for 10‐ to 13‐year‐old students in rural schools in India where human–wildlife conflicts with large mammals frequently occur. Between July 2019 and March 2020, we tested the program at 129 schools, reaching 4331 students. The program, which was iteratively designed to fit the local context, is both cost‐effective and scalable. We found that participation in the program resulted in a significant positive increase in local environmental knowledge, in knowledge of safe behaviors, and in some measures of environmental attitudes. This paper reports on the lessons learned while creating this program that may help other organizations interested in using environmental education in regions where negative human–wildlife interactions frequently occur. Environmental degradation has become a major concern around the world. Fostering pro-environmental behaviour is considered among key solutions to reduce impacts towards conservation and rehabilitation of the environment. Various stakeholders have been developing strategies to promote pro-environmental behaviour, especially from an early age that is at student level but environmental issues still prevail on the local and global agenda. Therefore, this makes it questionable about the readiness of learners to change their behaviours towards implementing pro-environmental practices. Literature shows that limited work has been undertaken to assess readiness to change towards pro-environmental behaviour. Taking cognizance of this gap, this paper investigates and analyses the readiness of students towards pro-environmental behaviour by using the Transtheoretical Model of Behaviour Change. A survey was conducted in secondary and higher education institutions in Mauritius. Results showed that demographic factors including gender, level of education and age group had an influence on pro-environmental behaviour. In addition, even though the larger group of participants showed positive attitudes towards protecting the environment, only a smaller percentage had actively changed their behaviours towards a pro-environmental one. The primary objective was to identify critical parameters impacting thermal performance and reduce overdesign. Employing the Statistical Error Analysis (SEA) method across several operational scenarios, the research identifies key factors, including the Earth's infrared temperature and albedo, and the spacecraft's attitude and environmental conditions, as the variables with major influences on the system's thermal performance. The positive behaviors that urban forest parks encourage in urban residents (such as recommendations, repeat visits, etc.) are important considerations in the planning and construction of such forest parks. Recreators' environmental preferences and perceived satisfaction with urban forest parks are responses to individuals' perceptions and attitudes toward the external environment. Clarifying the interactive relationship between the two is of great significance to improving positive behavioral intentions in urban forest parks. In this paper, the concept of the urban forest park recreational environment is proposed, and in this concept, the three dimensions of the spatial physical environmental preference, regional cultural characteristics, and service experience that the urban forest park recreational environment has on tourists' perception are separated out. A model of the structural relationship between park environment perception, perceived satisfaction, and post-tour behavioral intention was tested using Tongzhou Grand Canal Forest Park as an example. The psychological path of tourists' behavioral intention after visiting the urban forest park can be divided into two categories: the direct influencing path is "urban forest park recreation environment → post-tour behavioral intention"; the indirect influencing path is "urban forest park recreation environment → perceived satisfaction → behavioral intention after the trip". This shows that tourists' preference for the urban forest park recreation environment will promote the generation of perceived satisfaction and then stimulate in-depth comprehensive experience evaluation after visiting. By enhancing tourists' experience of the urban forest park recreational environment through their environmental preference perception and improving tourists' perceived satisfaction with the urban forest park recreational environment, urban forest parks can improve tourists' positive behavioral intentions. Clarifying these complex psychological processes provides a new perspective for understanding people's cognition of urban forest parks, the physiological and psychological benefits produced, and the resulting behavioral tendencies. Purpose: The aim of the article was to provide an overview of the phenomenon of the ecologization of consumption in the context of post-pandemic changes in consumer behaviors and attitudes. Design/methodology/approach: The critical analysis method used in literary research with the use of secondary sources was employed in the study. Findings: Contemporary consumption is inseparably linked to environmental concern, manifesting in the phenomenon of green consumerism. The trend of ecologizing consumption, stemming from the growing ecological awareness in society, was intensified in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the increasing popularity of green consumerism, the challenge lies in the "green gap" – the disparity between declared pro-environmental attitudes and the actual behaviors of consumers. While many studies have explored the value of water, little is known concerning the meaning of water for Australian river communities. This rapid literature review provides an overview of the recreational, cultural, and environmental meaning of water for Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian river communities and notes important connections between these relationships. Consequently, this review adds a critical dimension to water management debates by privileging community voices. Most papers explored cultural and environmental aspects rather than recreational relationships with water, with the majority of papers exploring Indigenous cultural and environmental meanings of water and fewer papers focusing on these meanings of water for non-Indigenous people. Our review shows that the meanings of water are understood very differently in cultures, with Indigenous water relationships marginalized by a dominant culture. The paper aims to show and explain the usefulness of tools used for the eco-food products promotion. The approach is done from two perspectives: efficiency and sustainability goals. By reconsidering the multiple dimensions of qualitative food and the ecological attitude, we build a dashboard of modern promotion techniques that consider the objectives of sustainable development and quantify the progress achieved. The approach is on three value levels: economic, social and ecological. The analysis is done for the last 5 years, with data from Romania related to the food that is produced and consumed in the eco context. The specific indicators of sustainable development and others are considered. These indicators are drawn regarding the efficiency of sustainable and efficient tools, the progress achieved in supporting sustainable development and the contribution of eco-food to the wellbeing improvement and economic growth or stability. From mother nature and carbon footprints to greenhouse gasses and the race against global warming, popular discourse on environmental issues is saturated with metaphor. Some people view these metaphors as obfuscating or ineffective, while others believe they are crucial for improving climate communications and environmental attitudes. In this paper, we provide a systematic overview and evaluation of the use of English metaphors in Anglo environmental discourse, drawing on a range of empirical and popular media sources. We begin by discussing the role of metaphor in language in thought. Next, we introduce a range of metaphors used to frame discussions of (1) our relationship to nature (e.g., the earth is our common home), (2) our impact on the environment (e.g., we are knocking the climate off balance), and (3) how we should address this impact (e.g., reduce our ecological footprint). We classify these metaphors along several dimensions, including how conventional they are, how systemic they are, how emotionally impactful they are, and how aptly they capture the topics they are used to describe. From this analysis, we derive several promising candidate metaphors that may help increase public understanding and engagement with environmental issues. However, we note that such claims must be tested empirically in future research; currently, there are few large, systematic, replicable experiments in the literature assessing the impact of environmental metaphors. We conclude by offering general recommendations for using metaphors in communications about climate change and sustainability. Websites of environmental content constitute an important tool for promoting environmental information, affect environmental attitudes and promote protected areas as touristic destinations. However, these websites have to be evaluated to ensure that they reach their final goal. The use of multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) models in website evaluation is relatively new and not many models have been tested for this purpose. Comparisons of such models have been implemented in various domains but not for the purposes of environmental website evaluation. The main objective of this paper is on presenting the procedure of comparison of MCDM models spherical by providing in detail the steps that have to be followed. This process was implemented for website evaluation and investigated the comparative performance of the TOPSIS and VIKOR models. This comparison process involves reliability analysis of the questionnaire and the sample of decision makers, pairwise comparisons of the models by calculating the Pearson correlation coefficient and estimation of the Cohen's Kappa for testing the inter-rater comparability, using the models as raters. Furthermore, a sensitivity and robustness analysis of those models is implemented, which also has not been implemented before in the application of those models in website evaluation. The tests implemented and presented in this paper reveal that the reasonable disagreement that was often observed among the methods did not affect their reliability. Environmental protection is increasingly a concern, but false claims by companies have raised green skepticism among consumers. Young consumers constitute a significant group for consumption in an economy like India. While young consumers have rarely been surveyed on factors like green perceived value and perception regarding green claims, there is a paucity of research on the moderating role of skepticism. This paper provides a new perspective regarding the underexplored debate on green skepticism levels among young consumers. Data from 610 respondents were gathered through a researcher-controlled survey. Antecedents to environmental attitude, namely green perceived value, environmental knowledge, and interpersonal influence, were found to influence the relationships significantly. Young consumers' environmental attitude was significant in explaining their green purchasing behavior. The paper sheds first light on the negative moderating effect of skepticism on the attitude-behavior relationship. The study highlights the role of educated and urban young consumers in sustainable consumption. In environmental education, environmental knowledge is considered to be one of the most important factors affecting university students' pro-environmental behavior. First, in this paper, the ecological civilization theory (ECT) was understood as a new kind of environmental knowledge. Based on this, a new theoretical model for analyzing the relationships among environmental knowledge, environmental attitude, and environmental behavior was designed in this paper according to ECT and the Knowledge-Attitude-Practice (KAP) theoretical model. Second, from the perspective of students, a questionnaire was designed for students according to ECT, so as to understand the level of ECT of students. On this basis, an empirical test of the relationship between the ECT level, pro-environmental attitude level, and pro-environmental behavior level was carried out. This research shows that ECT as environmental knowledge is as important as science-oriented environmental knowledge (SEK) in environmental education. As a result, the role of environmental knowledge in environmental education should not be ignored but environmental knowledge should be enriched by adding ECT to the environmental knowledge system and improving the environmental knowledge education curriculum, contributing to environmental education in China. The growing awareness of environmental issues can be linked to the demand for green transport innovations. Consumer behavior studies have pointed to the importance of consumer innovativeness (CI) and green perceptions in the adoption of green innovations. The purpose of this paper is to identify how users and nonusers of shared micromobility perceive the greenness of shared e‐bikes and e‐scooters and how CI affects shared microvehicle adoption. The paper also analyses the relationships between green perceptions and environmental referent cognitions—biospheric values, environmental knowledge, ascription of responsibility, and environmental attitudes. Shared e‐bike and e‐scooter users and nonusers in Copenhagen and Stockholm were surveyed using an online questionnaire. Results revealed that users consider themselves innovative and perceive the shared microvehicles as relatively green, while nonusers do not. When comparing users, CI and green perceptions relate to shared e‐bike use, but notably, only CI is linked to shared e‐scooter use. The results also show that environmental knowledge and environmental attitudes are related to green perceptions. The practical and theoretical implications of the results are discussed. This study examined the impact of green advertising and eco-labels on the attitudes and environmental awareness of millennials purchasing eco-friendly products in shopping centers across Ecuador. The research utilized a quantitative, correlational, cross-sectional methodology with 430 millennials participating. A 20-item survey was administered face-to-face at shopping centers in Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador. The validity of the research model was established through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), employing SPSS 20 and AMOS 24 for statistical evaluations. Findings reveal that green advertising significantly shapes environmental attitudes (β: 0.245) and awareness (β: 0.110), as well as directly influences the purchasing behavior (β: 0.154) towards green products. While eco-labels do not exert a direct effect on purchasing behavior (β: 0.128), they significantly inform attitudes (β: 0.406) and ecological awareness (β: 0.277) of millennials who purchase organic products. This paper is among the pioneering research to delineate the correlation between green advertising elements and the purchasing patterns of green products among millennials in a developing nation. It concludes that marketing strategies centered on green advertising and eco-labels do affect millennials' attitudes and environmental consciousness, but only advertising has a direct impact on purchasing behaviors, contrary to eco-labels. This paper’s fundamental problem is building national character through social studies based on Society 4.0 in the post-COVID-19 pandemic. This is because the learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic takes place online using a platform to support learning. The use of the platform is a problem that has not been touched on, namely, the formation of student character. This study uses a qualitative approach to produce an overview of social studies learning methods based on the national character to improve teacher professional competence. A total of 35 social studies teachers were taken as samples. The results obtained in this study, namely the solution in the form of developing learning methods that tend to be monotonous, which so far have been carried out, must be combined with methods that provide more space for students to develop their potential. In this connection, national character is interpreted as a way of thinking and behaving that shows the differences of everyone to live and work together for a better life for society and the nation. The 2013 curriculum on social studies subjects was developed as an integrative social studies subject, not as separate disciplines. Social studies subjects are, of course, applicative-oriented education, as the development of inquiry abilities, learning abilities, and character education such as curiosity, creativity, honesty, and the development of a caring and responsible attitude towards the surrounding environment and social relations. Environmental non-governmental organizations (ENGOs) play an important role in environmental governance. However, ENGO activity does not always lead to favorable outcomes. This paper highlights the ways in which neoliberal economic reforms and governance deficits constrain ENGO effectiveness through a case study of Georgia -- an emerging democracy that has attracted considerable external funding in the environmental domain. We analyze representative household survey data on environmental attitudes and conduct interviews with ENGO representatives and other key informants to show how many Georgian ENGOs are able to create a fa¸cade of successful activities for the country's donors, while not contributing to meaningful environmental outcomes at the local level. The case study further illustrates the implications of Georgia's business-government nexus, which censors criticism by genuine ENGOs, while leading others to take lucrative contracts for environmental impact evaluations. The future development of the energy sector is influenced by Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and their integration. The main hindrance with RES is that their output is highly volatile and less predictable. However, the utility of the RES can be further enhanced by prediction, optimization, and control algorithms. The scope of this paper is to disseminate a smart Adaptive Optimization and Control (AOC) software for prosumers, namely PV-OPTIM, that is developed to maximize the consumption from local Photovoltaic (PV) systems and, if the solar energy is not available, to minimize the cost by finding the best operational time slots. Furthermore, PV-OPTIM aims to increase the Self-Sustainable Ratio (SSR). If storage is available, PV-OPTIM is designed to protect the battery lifetime. AOC software consists of three algorithms: (i) PV Forecast algorithm (PVFA), (ii) Day Ahead Optimization Algorithm (DAOA), and (iii) Real Time Control Algorithm (RTCA). Both software architecture and functionalities, including interactions, are depicted to promote and replicate its usage. The economic impact is related to cost reduction and energy independence reflected by the SSR. The electricity costs are reduced after optimization and further significantly decrease in case of real-time control, the percentage depending on the flexibility of the appliances and the configuration parameters of the RTCA. By optimizing and controlling the load, prosumers increase their SSR to at least 70% in the case of small PV systems with less than 4 kW and to more than 85% in the case of PV systems over 5 kW. By promoting free software applications to enhance RES integration, we estimate that pro-environmental attitude will increase. Moreover, the PV-OPTIM provides support for trading activities on the Local Electricity Markets (LEM) by providing the deficit and surplus quantities for the next day, allowing prosumers to set-up their bids. Having a historical legacy of the relationship between culture and nature, literature in Bangladesh has always incorporated ecological concerns. The study aims to explore the cultural attitude towards nature and environment in Bangladeshi short stories. The planning and management of urban green infrastructure (UGI) are at the forefront of global biodiversity conservation. Building an environmental consensus rooted in environmental ethics and values is pivotal to the lasting success of UGI projects. Reflecting the specific classification into ecocentrism–anthropocentrism and Kellert's typologies and the theoretical connections between environmental ethics and ecological civilization, this study upgrades the adapted ecocentric and anthropocentric attitude toward the environment (AEA) scale accordingly to assess environmental attitudes and applies it in a survey of the main stakeholders involved in Zhangjiagang Bay Eco-Park, an ecological restoration project in China included in the UN's sustainable development goals (SDGs) Good Practice list. The paper unveils the diverse hidden value patterns of stakeholders and suggests new measures for sustainable UGI management. The authors argue that the AEA scale adapted and tested in this study connects well with the theories of environmental philosophy and is proven with good reliability, strong explanatory power, and potential value for UGI planning and management. In the policy-driven fields of urban practice, consensus building is one of the most important but, at the same time, most difficult processes to achieve. Without a good understanding of the diverse environmental perspectives of stakeholders, urban planning projects often die prematurely or gradually fade out due to unsustainable implementation or management in the long run. Drawing from the theoretical progress in environmental ethics, the authors adapted an AEA scale with two-tiered subscales that could indicate the general orientation on the spectrum of anthropocentric to ecocentric attitudes and reveal the specific motivations behind behaviors for better practical policy implications. The results of this case study indicate an overall weak-anthropocentric orientation and, more specifically, show the internal value conflicts of local officials and the significance of naturalistic and moralistic perspectives for the public. This study also pinpoints the value and urgency of ongoing environmental education on important ecological issues to enable the public to genuinely embrace the policy of ecological civilization that is currently imposed from the top down. Recently, shifting societal attitudes towards animals have resulted in an increasing challenge to the 'social license' to use animals in competitive sport. Against that background, this paper explores whether the use of animals in competitive sport is ever justifiable from the perspective of three commonly used ethical theories: deontology, utilitarianism and virtue ethics. In so doing, it recognises the importance of human understanding of animals as sentient beings. The author argues that when deontology, utilitarianism and virtue ethics are each used to consider the question 'Is the use of animals in sport ethically justifiable?', only absolutist rights theory leads to a negative conclusion. Specified rights theory, utilitarianism and virtue ethics all allow for the human use of animals in sport. However, the author then goes onto argue that even if one does not accept an absolutist rights point of view and does believe that the use of animals in sport is generally ethically justifiable, that use should be limited by fulfilment of certain 'qualifying constraints': (a) minimisation of negative welfare effects and maximisation of positive welfare effects, to enable 'good lives' for animals (b) identification of and mitigation against avoidable, unnecessary risk and (c) compliance with governing body regulations and the law. This research represents an attempt to systematically introduce the concepts of sustainable agriculture that shall address environmental attitudes and the risks for adoption related to agri-environmental practices. The substantial risks posed by climate change, loss of biodiversity, and other forms of pollution within the 21st century regarding global eco-systems, food production, and human health have emphasized the need to investigate this phenomenon. The agri-environmental practices are aimed at mitigating the environmental impacts of intensive agriculture; however, the adoption of these practices calls for a change in the farmers' behaviors. As farmers are indispensable stakeholders in rural ecological systems, the factors that determine the adoption of agri-environmental practices have been taken into analysis. The research has been carried out on a sample of 246 farmers in the rural areas of the Republic of Serbia. The data has been elaborated on by the SPSS statistical package and PLS SMART software. The findings, in the framework of a farm as a business, point out that the farmers believe that environmental protection is an important segment of production and that good agriculture is a prerequisite for producers' survival, maximum yields, and profits. The farmers, in the framework of stewardship, agree that good agriculture implies responsible management of the farms' agricultural and natural areas, as part of the country's heritage, for the benefit of future generations. The findings also show that the environmental attitudes of farmers in the stewardship frame and factors of risk adoption influence attitudes toward agri-environmental practices. The findings of this paper reveal up-to-date attitudes toward the adoption of further agri-environmental measures, directly contributing to raising awareness of the introduction of new AEM among practitioners in the agricultural sector, decision-makers, and policymakers. Quantitative studies analysing individual differences in environmental concern (i.e., apprehension about the quality of nature and natural resources including air, water, soil and animal and plant species) have consistently found differences between men and women, whereby women are more likely to display pro-environmental attitudes, although the underlying reasons remain largely unclear. Understanding the gender gap in environmental concern is crucial for designing and targeting environmental policies and for developing environmental education programmes. This paper examines five prominent theories that address the gender gap: Socialisation theory, Economic Salience theory, Parenthood Status theory, the Class-Gender effect and Ecofeminism. Ecofeminism constitutes a theoretical perspective which, despite offering a joint analysis of feminism and environmentalism, has rarely been employed in applied research regarding the gender gap in environmental concern. Using hierarachical regression techniques and data from the World Values Survey (N = 51,763) across 45 countries, this study finds that attitudes of gender equality are positively correlated with environmental concern. The present study supports ecofeminist theory by highlighting the positive role played by gender egalitarian attitudes in environmental concern. This research is the first of its kind to study the influence of gender egalitarian attitudes on environmental concern with such a large representative sample of countries, using hierarchical models to evaluate the effect of contextual factors. Ecological topics have been the focus of numerous studies in various scientific fields for years. The global problem of waste management is closely related to this topic. A constant increase in waste, which can be linked with mass consumption and economic development, is recorded in Croatia as well. Being observed as a global problem of the entire society, waste disposal can also be viewed from an individual's viewpoint who is responsible, after becoming ecologically aware, for reshaping his or her own behavior and lifestyle in accordance with ecological values. The subject of the research is the ecological awareness of young people with the general aim of examining young people's attitudes toward the environment and youth awareness of environmental protection, and to determine this, it was necessary to determine the lifestyle habits, the frequency of recycling, the ways they contribute to environmental protection, their attitudes about the importance of environmental care and the impact of residents on the environment. Furthermore, an assessment of citizens' level of education on environmental protection was carried out. The online questionnaire included a convenience sample of 480 young people, 154 men and 326 women, in the city of Split, within the range of 18 to 29 years. From the results, it is evident that, according to their assessment, the participants are conscientious toward the environment, often recycle paper and plastic, sometimes use eco-products and dispose of waste in designated places. They criticize the (lack of) education of other citizens of Split in regard to ecology, and they are also aware that waste disposal in Split is insufficient. In regard to attitudes about waste disposal, air pollution and the education of other citizens, young people show that they are aware of the problems in the city Split. The ecological situation significantly affects the quality of life of an individual and society, so the results of this research can be understood within the framework of the set goals and results obtained from the conducted research. We can understand the research results as a guideline for work in the field of environmental awareness and environmental protection. Likewise, the results of the research are guidelines for the implementation of these topics through education and training of young people but also of other age groups, so that the habits of young people (and citizens) of the city of Split, and accordingly their activities, change toward positive behavior in these areas in the future. Australia is increasingly regarded as out of step in the global effort to combat climate change. Even the Australian Labor Party (ALP) Government, considered the climate-friendly alternative to the conservative Coalition, failed to deliver robust climate action from 2007 to 2013. This paper aims to validate the promising progressive rhetoric of the ALP Government from 2007 to 2013 to understand whether its commitment to climate action was genuine. It incorporates mixed methods to verify ALP attitudes to the environment and demonstrate the incidence of changing attitudes. This paper finds that the ALP deviated from ecocentrism in its framing of environment priorities towards a weak ecological modernisation approach to mitigation. This inconsistency suggests that climate change mitigation was an arbitrary priority for the ALP, rather than a cornerstone of its party platform. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
